We ate here as a family a couple weeks back while enjoying a day downtown. I've seen and heard great things so decided I needed to see what the hype was all about. I've heard great things about their burgers, but on impulse I opted for one of the specials at the time (not currently on the menu), a hash with a fried egg - delightful and delicious! My son had the fish and chips and that was good too! The scotch egg was fantastic, so much that we ordered a second one. And one of their signature items are the beet chips. They came a bit greasy and left purpilish grease on the serving tray but they were cooked fairly well (not super crispy but did have crisp to them) and salted well. The gentleman who served us that day was exceptional, very knowledgeable about the menu and friendly with both the adults and children, genuinely seemed like he wanted to be there! Overall the meal was good and I will definitely be returning to try that burger. read more

i love eating at wilson & washburn. i think it's a super underrated hole in the wall restaurant near the old market that everyone should try. i like how quick their service is during the lunch hour, and i always think the food is a step above standard restaurant food. i like grabbing a drink here before a show at the steelhouse as well, it's great for pre-show fries and drinks. read more

Such a great experience! The atmosphere is comfortable, relaxing and inviting. Great decor. Love the building's backstory. Friendlyand accommodating staff who work great as a team between hostess, waitress and bartenders. Food arrives quickly and toasty warm. The beef barley soup was seasoned perfextly with just a little kick. Smoked tomato soup was scrumptious too. They advertise themselves as 'a serious comfort station' and that is an appropriate description. If you are in need of a relaxing evening of comfort food and good company.... here's your place. Went for dinner on a Saturday with a few of my friends and it wasn't very busy. We got to seat ourselves and were helped shortly after. One friend ordered a drink while the rest of us opted for water. Waters were brought out for everyone. We all ordered our food: two of us got the charred wings and one of us got fries, one friend got a burger, my other friend got fish and chips as well as the mac n cheese for us all to share. The fries were really good nice and crisp and seemed to be hand-cut. The wings were really good and so was the ranch. I was wondering how many wings I would get since it says 1 pound of wings rather than how many but it came with a lot as well as being fair for the price. My friends enjoyed all of their dishes as well but I realized right when we got our food that my friend never got her drink. I asked if she wanted me to say something and she kinda shrugged it off. The mac n cheese had truffle in it which we all knew going into trying it but we all felt that the truffle overpowered the amazing cheese combination they had going on It wasn't until we were completely done with our food that our server said something about it and remembered. The server gave her a discount for forgetting her drink which was really nice and appreciated. Inside it definitely gives pub/dive bar type vibes. It is cool that they also have an upstairs seating area and it can be booked for private events. It was a good experience and we enjoyed our food but it wasn't the best experience dining downtown in Omaha I've had. read more

I recently tried W & W with some coworkers. Think I had more of a one off experience and would like to try it again. W & W is bar centric with a beautiful old wood bar! The place was dimly lit and cozy. Due to the size of our group, we sat more in the back room on the way to the bathrooms. I think it would have been more ideal to sit at the bar or in the main dining area. While I had food envy and think I ordered wrong, I had the chicken wrap with fries. I found the wrap to be kinda lackluster with no standout features. I could have used more sauce or flavor of some sort. Even some more variety of textures could have helped. Not sure if it was me or the wrap, but I wasn't feeling it. The burger and pulled pork sandwich looked good/better. Service was friendly but frankly, a bit slow and absent. read more

Fought through the construction to get to this place and it was damn well worth it. The mother/daughter owner combo were our servers and they were so full of energy! The vibe is a reclaimed brothel from the 20''s, with brick walls, dark wood, and brass. While drinks were standard, the ribs added a new dimension to meat on a bone. This place is badass. So just do it. Hop a fence or two, traverse a hole in the street, and dodge backhoes. You won't be disappointed. read more

We recently went to dinner here with another couple. Food was okay but not above average for the price. Dining furniture was old and the chairs at our table a bit wobbly. Our server was average. The reason for one star, we left a generous cash tip. When we received our statement it showed we were charged an extra $20 on top of this. There were only 4 of us so not a large party, Unfortunately we no longer had the receipt, Unsure if it was the waitress or a cashier that added on the extra $$ but we will not return. Giving yourself an extra tip is essentially stealing and hoping people won't notice. Make sure you retain your receipt if you eat here. read more

Beautiful brick building with quite a few tables and bar seating. Our waitress was very quick to take our order and get us settled. House salad 5/5: a large portion of fresh greens, onion, tomatoes, some sort of nut (think it was walnut or pecan) and shredded cheese with a delicious dressing! Definitely hit the spot. Spinach salad 5/5: (surprise, surprise) large portion of spinach, onion, cranberries, croutons, blue cheese (we subbed this for cheddar) and a red wine vinegar dressing. Very good! Mac n cheese: decently sized portion to share as an entree. Very very truffle forward so a definite win if that's your thing! Overall, a great meal in Omaha! read more

I had visited Wilson & Washburn for their trivia nights many moons ago, but hadn't been back in a while after they stopped having that. I popped in recently with friends and hoped it was still as great food-wise, and it definitely was! The interior was the same as I remembered, a little dim, but with a few hanging lights and white string lights on the upstairs level, giving it a nice twinkly ambiance. We started with a few apps: -Beet Chips: These were my favorite in years' past and they were just as good as I remembered. A little tangy with the vinegar, and both sweet and savory too from the beets themselves, along with salty from the salt they use - basically all the best flavors in one! -Pulled Pork Egg Rolls: I hadn't had this before, but it just sounded so interesting that we had to order it - no regrets. They had tasty pulled pork with a crunchy egg roll shell. It only comes with four pieces, so if you have more than four people at your table (we had four), you may want to snag two orders of these if you want them and want each person to have at least one. Entree-wise, most of our friends got the fish and chips, but I had to get the Cheeseburger! The patty is so juicy and delicious, you can't believe it. I asked to have the tomatoes and lettuce removed, but kept the onion jam. I am not usually an onion fan at all (texture thing), but this was an exception for me because the jam just melts in your mouth with each bite. Instead of fries, I had the Lemon Pepper Brocolli. It wasn't my favorite thing ever, as it was a little bland and I sort of assumed the broccoli would be steamed in something to soften it up, but it was just raw chopped broccoli with the almonds on top and an acidic lemon there a little bit. I would just recommend getting the fries or salad as your side. We had some of their many beers on tap throughout the night, and they shine in that area too. I had Anchor Steam and it was light and refreshing. They have a zillion tap options, so check them out on their website if you want to see everything they have on offer. If you're in the downtown area and looking for a few drinks and some solid food - definitely check out Wilson & Washburn, and whatever you order - do not skip the beet chips!! :-) read more

The inside brick walls are typical for the old market. It has more of a corner bar feel but the menu items are decent. Our service was friendly & quick. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich that had tender slow cooked pork I really liked. Hubby ordered their meatloaf sandwich he was quite satisfied. I didn't think the fries were the best but everyone else ate them. I would've preferred a side of steamed vegetables, but I don't believe healthy options are much of a choice here. This location is a good choice for dinner, but we were lucky to get the last table before the show at the Orpheum theater in walking distance! read more

Pretty good overall. Was disappointed that on the Cuban I could not get it without onions so I had to get something else. Place was absolutely empty when we walked in and I was afraid it wasn't open. It was. Construction in the area makes it difficult to get to . Beer selection was great and meal was solid. I usually prefer it here during spring through fall, because it's north facing and can feel dark. But it's a nice long narrow bar and grill with a decent size menu. The service is always pretty good. The wings are very Smokey, and may not be to everyone's liking. I'd recommend an extra side of sauce for the charbuff style. Fish and Chips are another good option. Was excited to try this place for a drink and some dinner before our show. We arrived 1.5 before show doors open and didn't get our food until 10 mins before we had to run to the Orpheum. I knew we were in trouble when the server took forever to bring our waters, left and took another 15 mins to get our drink order...I went ahead and had the table put in our drinks and food all at once just to speed things up (asked the server if that was okay and he said yeah let's get it done with - pretty much the only thing said to us all night) Cocktails came but after another 10 mins had to flag him to get the sodas that the n/a guests at our table ordered (forget ever getting a refill) In total, it took 1 HR and 20 mins (!!!) for us to get our food. Disappointed- the actual restaurant was so cute and has so much potential to be somewhere I would frequent. We always love to find to spots downtown to enjoy. Hopefully down the road they could adequately staff their place (service and/or kitchen staff, not sure where the breakdown happened) especially knowing that there's a show right next door. read more

2 stars because my fries were crispy, it was a good-sized basket of them, and they have a nice beer selection on tap. This was my second visit, and the service was horrible both times. The first time I was in, a few friends and I stopped in to grab a beer. There was no room at the bar, so we were seated at a table, and when our waiter came by and set down silverware, I told him we were just there to grab a quick drink. He snatched the napkin rolls of silverware away like he was angry and took a good 10 minutes before returning to take our drink order. After bringing us our beers, he never came by to check on us and didn't say a word when he set down our bill or came to collect payment. On my second visit, a friend and I sat at the bar to order drinks and snacks. The place had maybe a dozen other customers, and our drink order was taken quickly. Unfortunately, the good service stops there. My Bloody Mary was the worst I have ever tasted - like liquid cocktail sauce with extra horseradish. Absolutely undrinkable. I apologized and asked for a beer instead when my friend flagged her down to order food (which we received fairly quickly). She ignored us the rest of our time there. Never asked if the food was OK, if I wanted another drink once my beer was gone, or even if we were ready for our bill, despite our clearly empty glasses and food baskets pushed out of the way. Unloading the dishwasher, checking her phone, and chatting it up with the cook was more important than the handful of patrons still in the restaurant. We flagged her down, paid, and took ourselves up the road to another establishment. I'd be hard pressed to give this place a third chance. read more

We stopped here because they were open late on a Sunday before a holiday. We're glad we did. The food and service here were phenomenal. I got the pulled pork sandwich. It was sweet and savory. The meat was well seasoned and saucy. It was moist but not overly wet. My bread didn't get soggy. The slaw they used was also really tasty. It's more seasoned than most other slaws I've had in the past. My partner had the fish and chips. These were also prepared nicely. It was nice and tasty. Most fish and chips come out tasting bland, but these were perfectly seasoned. The fries were also a great balance of crispy and potato-y. Would highly recommend this place. read more

We arrived for a late lunch on a Saturday. Bartender/ waitstaff was limited and there were tables left with used dishes throughout the tavern. We found a clean low two-top and waters were promptly placed in front of us. Scanned the QR code and ordered fish and chips, a cheeseburger and a beer. The wooden old fashioned bar was flanked by a Couple of screens with sports playing. Music was not too loud and the few patrons seemed to be enjoying drinks and conversation. When food arrived our server recognized she had made an error as she placed Mac-n-cheese on our table... we had to wait for the burger to be prepared. It was unfortunate, we tried the Mac- it was a bit grainy with an off flavor but maybe just a cheese we are not accustomed to eating. My fish was excellent but a little difficult to navigate in the wire basket it arrived in. My husband did not finish his burger and left half on his plate, he did finish all the freshly made chips as these are a favorite of his. Seems like a nice place to relax for drinks but the food is particular. You may really like it. Give it a try. read more

Bar | chicken wrap | vibes Bar - the bar is there central item in the restaurant. As soon as you walk in it's on your left and is stately. It is quite the sight and demands a level of respect and truly adds to the decor. Chicken wrap - I had the chicken wrap and fries. It was delicious and I highly recommend it. The fries are the fresh hand cut type which I always enjoy. The chicken wrap was filling and surprisingly easy to eat. The wrap was tightly round and the sauce provide the perfect counter balance to the crisp chicken. Vibes - I came on a Wednesday night after work with a co-worker. We showed at 6pm and it was very easy to get a table. We sat at the bar and has great service. The restaurant has cool low key vibe. It's a great combination of great spot to grab a drink and conversational first date. They also have an upstairs area and a private room, which provide different feels. Pro tip: there is a decent amount of parking within 1-2 blocks of the restaurant. There is a a public covered parking lot around the block and multiple meters around the block. Pro tip: ask the bartender for their favorite types of drinks to make. Their menu changes from time to time, but the bartenders will make drinks that are currently on or were formerly onto menu. read more

Wilson & Washburn is a classic that I have been to multiple times over the last several years. I love going for brunch, more specifically, for their corned beef hash. It's reasonably priced but also incredibly delicious with its horseradish aioli. The last Bloody Mary I had there was ok, but they do have great coffee and mimosas. I did go there for dinner one time and felt like it was as impressive as their brunch, but perhaps I just need to give it another try. read more

We tried the fish and chips, Cubano and fries, spinach salad, and macaroni and cheese. The Cubano was amazing! Warm, crispy bread with savory meat and salty pickles. My FIL said that the fish was warm and crispy. The fries were well-seasoned and perfectly cooked. For a very reasonable $8, the spinach salad came as expected- a "pile" of spinach with cheese, dried cranberries, and house croutons, but was perfectly dressed with a lovely vinaigrette. The macaroni and cheese had a little too much garlic for me (the whole table commented on the smell), but the blend of cheese and crispy topping saved the dish. If we return, we'll stick with their sandwiches and fries, or maybe try a daily special! read more

Would order again. 3) Beet chips: not for me - too much vinegar but my partner would order again, he loved them & would go back just to get these again. 4) Burger: my partner said it was fine but that it didn't taste very seasoned & mostly like the tomato and other toppings. I used to come here semi-regularly (once every ~2 weeks). Stopped today & the food seems compromised, from my usual order. Server told me the burger usually comes medium-rare. Burger presented was well done & dry, side condiments not included. Burger was so far off expectations, when bartender asked how it was, all I could muster was "yeah, it's in front of me"... which elicited no acknowledgment.?.. Burger used to be more than 1/2 inch thick, well season, juicy and charred crust with a bright pink center. If this is just the result of slumping sales, and reduced kitchen budget, then I am saddened. read more

The ambiance and the food are both amazing! We went on a Sunday evening when nothing was really going on downtown so there wasn't a wait and it wasn't packed. The pork roll appetizers were a little dry and the dipping sauce was overly salty but my sandwich..the meatloaf sandwich was probably one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. I love the vibe here. In fact, for a while, I had never even eaten there because I just liked it as a place to have a beer or cocktail. But once I did it there? It was eye opening. I don't eat meat, so I love seeing vegetarian takes on "burgers." Theirs was a "beet burger." Beets are not in my diet really but I really enjoyed it. It could not be mistaken as a meat substitute but it is still hearty and delicious. They apply a smoked peanut butter that's tasty. I wish it wasn't quite as dry as it it is but I put some ranch on and it was perfect. My wife likes the chicken/biscuit sandwich. Massive credit to the mighty team at Wilson & Washburn last night (11/05/23) for excellent service and food on a Sunday night. We chose Wilson & Washburn over another place that essentially talked us out of coming due to being short-staffed. The team at Wilson & Washburn took a group of 7 with no notice and welcomed us with warm and knowledgeable hospitality. Service was prompt, warm and knowledgable. Our group had a few diners with restrictions (vegan and vegetarian), which were well accommodated down to someone from management or the kitchen coming out to the table to discuss the menu items. Two people in the group ordered the grilled cheese spicy. The server clearly said the spice came from "ghost pepper cheese." Both diners still wanted the grilled cheese but then found it too spicy and then found the sandwich too spicy. The team prompty helped us with a new non-spicy version. Overall, I can't say thank you enough to the team at Wilson & Washburn for helping us have a great night in Omaha. read more

Very friendly service. We came in to try their take on a Rueben (brisket) and are leaving with full happy belly's! The meat was so tender and the beet relish was an awesome compliment to the sandwich. Chips are made in house and perfectly crispy.
