My mom was a patient at this facility for two weeks. Food decent nursing leads little to be desired 20 to 30 minutes for someone to come to your room. The nurse to patient ratio is below standards many of the CNA's and help speak Spanish only! Which I have a problem with the requirement should be bilingual. The nicest part of this facility is the lobby once you go through the lobby doors it's a different story. Also, my mom was supposed to have adequate physical therapy in order to go home independently however that did not happen and I applied for an appeal which was denied because the facility went from one day saying she needed more time to the next day saying she would be fine to go home and that she had met her plateau. Obviously there was a change in charting. Due to the pompous director of physical therapy who really lacked compassion. If you have another choice, besides this facility to put your loved one in choose a different facility! read more

Inhuman, incompetent and unmanaged. No one cares, nurses override doctors instructions (to the patients detriment), social interactions with patients is abhorrent. Do your loved one's a favor and do not admit them here. read more

Where shall I begin. December 15, 2024 when my father was admitted after surgery for a broken hip and femur. He was to get several weeks of PT and come back home with me. Father 91, healthy,1 heart attack @59,very slight memory loss, walked with a walker. Today unable to walk, stand, feed himself, straighten his legs, 100% dementia. How did this all happen to him. Call me at 813 624 5451. Now he is a permanent resident. Neglect, mistakes, incompetence, drugged up, medication errors, no stimulation, left to face mildew walls instead of the TV. Left in bed for days, Lies,Lies, Lies. Absolutely no transparency. And the "Director of nursing" even told me, "He has a right to fall" can you believe that ignorance? I have watched a patient have a seizure in front of me because of the heat, I patient died outside approximately 2 months ago due to neglect by the PT department, who wheeled him outside and forgot him there. he was left over 2 hours and had a heat stroke. The place is discussing, holes in the walls, on the door that faces Manhattan Ave as you can see the sun light come through that blinks as every car that goes down Manhattan cover the light. Live ants and roaches all over. Yesterday I bought 2 gallon jugs with a spigot and some plastic cups so these patients could have ice water in the 104 heat, and it was taken away after I left yesterday. Today I'm told by that same incompetent director of nursing, I am not allowed to give them water because they may have a diagnosis that they can't have water. WHAT!!!!!. I asked what kind of a illness could anyone have that they can't have water, She told me it was none of my business. And she and the administer assistant both told me today at different times, if they can go outside and smoke then they can come inside to get water. I see this issue was was really discussed and rehearsed as they both sad the same thing and were anticipating my questioning there nonsense today. Well that issue of coming in to get water is another joke. The coolers that every section is suppose to have with ice is always empty. No ice, no ice water for hours at a time. Yesterday I had to give my father a hot soda, why? no ice in the cooler. Today, no ice in the cooler, Last week no ice in the cooler. I will be be making a report to ACHA, Elder Affairs, Elders Abuse and Medicaid Fraud. I have numerous photos, I document every incident, and I have been there every single day since December 15, 2024 except for 1 week, when my father caught Covid there and gave it to me, as it runs rampant in this place. If your going to be in the business of taking care of elderly people, then take care of them Surely the 10K a month they get from Medicaid and all the money you have and worked all of you life for goes to this kennell, and did I tell you the residents get 160.00. that they can't even get because they keep getting excuses and to come back tomorrow. With all that money coming in they should be able to provide better care, certainly hire better staff that and stop the cover-ups and lies. Fix your building of the holes in the rooms, ants and roaches, mildew, rotten wood,cracks in the foundation. Take a tour, not just the lovely entrance or the nice big rooms in section 1, even the dining room is decent. Go to section 3 and 4 that's where you will see what this facility really is about. 3 and 4 is were your moved to when they are keeping you for long term care. You may ask why do I keep my father there? Well, I am determined that this place is going to do right by these helpless patients. I have been asked several times do I want to move my father to another facility after several encounters with them, and after this review, I'm sure this place will try and get rid of my father again, so they can silence me, but I won't be silence. I will take this to Congress to have the ridiculous minimum 20 patients for 1 CNA ratio changed. Like I said I am there everyday and I see most things. Most of these patients in long term care don't have anyone that comes to see them and checks on there welfare. I try and speak up for them, advocate for them and I'm told today its none of my business. That's what you think. This is going to be epic. read more

I dont know why there are bad reviews here. My mother in law has been here since September of last year, and she likes it here. She says the food is quite good and they take very good care of her. The place is clean and does not smell at all. Whenever I visit I have never observed anything that would make me think anything but good. When I call, the phone is answered promptly. I told her that if she wanted to move, I would move her and to let me know if she ever experiences any issues. She said she likes it there and preferred to stay. read more

A married couple checked in and only ONE checked out. The one who died got sepsis and died after being transferred from Gandy Crossing to Tampa General with a few hours of his death. Understaffed; as no one answers the phone consistently and if they do they disconnect you or it rings and rings and rings at nurses stations as NO ONE CARES! In some cases there's no one at the nurses station at all for long periods of time. They take cell phones and wallets from patients and lock them up. No phones in any of the rooms! If a patient can't communicate with the outside world how does anyone know if they're being abused or mistreated? They try to keep patients for weeks on end to get their $288.00 per diem. This is a VA Contract Location that you don't want to send your family member or any VETERAN to under any circumstance. They have an excuse for everything and they have no concept of what the word "CARE" means. Interview the staff and they change their stories for what best fits their own narratives. Again, TWO went in and ONE came out - They'll be hearing more on that from the VA. I don't let go when anyone HURTS people I care and love. WHEN YOUR LOVED ONE IS IN BETTER CARE AT THE LOCAL FUNERAL HOME THAN IN THIS PLACE THAT TELLS YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW. read more

My husband Bobby Goldfarb was an ARMY veteran. He was in the same room at Gandy with me. We were there for rehab. I got home and Bobby did not. He died in their care. They took our cell phone and wallets. We could not talk to anyone on the outside and ask for help. My husband was buried at the National Cemetery TODAY (February 28th). They let him sit with a fever for hours on end and we were told he had Sepsis. They sent him to Tampa General Hospital (who did their best to keep him alive) but he died within hours after leaving Gandy Crossing. I did not know they took him out of our room. I was not told he was going to die. I was NEVER even given a chance to say goodbye to my loving husband. Gandy Crossing took that away from me. There is something not right about this place and the neglect of veterans/seniors is evidenced by the Health Dept reports, the fines they have had to pay and the inexperienced staff they employ. These ppl are so unorganized. I was set for an interview with them 7/21/22 at 4:30pm, so I arrive 15 minutes early and the receptionist checks my name off the list on her desk. I'm then told by the receptionist after she mumbled on the phone with the housekeeping manager that the housekeeping manager wasn't aware of any interviews. I'm looking at them like really? After all these phone call reminders I got and chatting with their representative via text about scheduling me. It's evident that their organizational skills are more than just lackluster and it shows that I'm not fit for that kind of team, a team that doesn't communicate, which equates to poor quality of care towards their patients/residents. It's no wonder as I stood in that lobby just to be turned around that an elderly lady in a wheelchair was trying to escape through the double doors. The receptionist advised me that "the old lady" (her words) tends to try to escape regularly. The look on the elderly lady's face was alarming. I could only imagine what's going on in there with their unorganized selves. What a disturbing shame ; seems like a prison. Be careful leaving your loved ones in their hands. read more

Very hard to get any information. Relative was allowed to fall and break a hip requiring surgery, then allowed to fall again requiring head stitches! We were not allowed to visit because of possibility of covid, so we didn't but she got it anyway...had to be from staff! read more
