Been wanting to try this spot since they were at Ward! New location in same building (and metered parking lot) as Cinnamons in Kailua. It's super cute with seating available inside. I got the chefs special dosa which comes with a cup of soup. Flavor is ons and portion is large! With medium appetite I got lunch and dinner out of one plate ($15). This would definitely fill you up if you're hungry. I recommend trying both chutneys! I also got an iced chai which was so robust in flavor, you can taste it's made with care and fresh spices. Tried this spot for the first time today, I went with a friend who is a dosa connoisseur. He gets take out from here 2-3x a week so I thought I better try it! I got the chefs recommendation, the only thing I could have done without were the olives and I wanted it crispier but those are personal preferences! The coconut chutney was so good, I would have eaten it by itself with a spoon :) We also shared a Nutella dosa, which was similar to a Nutella crepe but crispier! While making my itinerary for Oahu, I came across this Dosa place which was near to our hotel but we came to know that they had changed their address permanently to Kailua. Its a small cafe kinda place with few tables. The place is in a plaza with metered parking, damn, it was confusing finding the right meter for our car. You'll know when you go,lol. The guy making the dosas is working up magic, the dosas are like you get in India. Their is a beautiful poster of Lord Ganesha on one of the walls. The server was a sweet girl. We ordered their:- Classic Dosa- It comes with Sambhar, choice of coconut/ tomato chutney, dosa crepe & dosa masala. I added cheese to it, they use cheddar cheese. It was delicious & filling. California Dosa- This was unique with Dosa Crepe & filling with cheese, tomatoes & avocado. It did have the regular sides of sambhar & coconut chutney. Do try the powder chutney its yum. As a whole it was good Mango lassi- ok ok Overall, everything from food to service was good but one only thing is that they do not serve water, yeah basic, you have to buy it. I never had dosa and it doesn't taste good to me. The guy cooking the food was not very personable and not interested in anything other than making the dish. I was the only person there and the surrounding shops were closed so it wasn't like they were busy Perhaps he was just focusing on making the food. I took about 3 bites and I couldn't eat the rest. Just not my cup of tea. Like another reviewer mentioned I am local Kailua since 1965. So if I don't feel the Aloha then I'm not gonna be back to give it another shot. The food is amazing! We were looking for a dosa like this for a while, finally found this gem unexpectedly in Oahu. We ordered 2 classic dosas to eat at the restaurant and 1 dosa to go. Very delicious dosas, clean and cozy place, yet the feedback to the manager is that, it would be a more pleasant experience for customers to give additional 1 sauce free when they ask and also give a bag with to go orders, especially to customers that spent $50+. For example, when we ordered a dosa to go that's coming with a soup, after the payment I asked for a bag they said it's 30 cents and I couldn't even pay for it because there is a minimum credit card fee, even though earlier we payed $50+, they could just hand it. They give you almost no food. They put almost nothing inside the dosha now. Literally eight spinach leaves, four pieces of sun-dried tomato, four small pieces of goat cheese, and one olive. That's all they put inside the sandwich. Charged me $19 after tax. I asked her to remake it, and it was the same thing. And the small soup cup they gave me was only 2/3 full. One of my favorite food places in the Kailua area. They serve both vegetarian and vegan south Indian style crepes. I normally get the chefs recommendation, which comes with potato masala, cheese, tomatoes , olives, and avocado. Then you get a choice of coconut or tomato chutney. Both are good, but the winner for me is the tomato chutney. Each order comes with their sambar soup, which is very flavorful. Pair it with their mango lassi and it just hits the spot. Amazing dosa in Hawaii. We have been here in every single trip to Oahu. After eating great local cuisine this is a very welcome change to eat home like food. Dosa is a South Indian dish, a savory crepe that you eat with chutneys and/or sambhar. The warm sambhar was super delicious. Chutneys very fresh and dosa was great as well. Service is fast and great. I usually do not write a lot of reviews but had to for this one. I was so stoked when I saw this place pop up on my recommended list for Kailua. For a non-Indian cooking, I should definitely say "Kudos to the effort". It is not easy to get so many variations of dosa. My kid loved the Nutella dosa. We tried the plain, classic and chutney powder versions. I'd say the batter was sour and the dosa was too thick. Also, the sambar was so bland, absolutely no flavor and too watery. They gave either tomato chutney or coconut chutney. For a place filled with fresh coconuts, I'd expect the coconut to be fresh grated than frozen, shredded. That was a total bummer. The tomato chutney was less chutney and more salsa tasting. The so called "Indian coffee" was a mistake. It was nothing but coffee flavored hot water with a tinge of dairy. I'm not sure if it had milk or creamer, because all I tasted was water. There is a lot of room for improvement. PS: I saw others struggle with the idly they got, too hard. read more

I have to be honest I'm confused to what I just ate. I ordered online the Greek salad and "chefs recommendation" for takeout. It was almost $30 with $3.75 included tip that was for takeout? I guess I was expecting more from the Greek salad. It literally was Costco spinach topped with kalamata olives, sundried tomatoes, a little feta cheese and a few pieces of avocado. I had all of these ingredients in my cupboard and could of made a better version. Not worth $10. Then comes the $15 crepe "dosa". Right when I opened the takeout box all I could smell was burnt metal. The crepe was not burnt but whatever they cooked it on left a bad smell. I didn't even bother to eat the outer crepe after one bite and just tried to eat the fillings which was potato masala and the similar ingredients that were in my Greek salad. It's a hole in the wall kind of restaurant ... if you really need Indian food after a few days in Oahu, yes please! But the food was just ok. It's a small place so the wait time can be long based on the day and time. But the staff was very helpful. The menu is pretty fusion but the taste is bland. The dosas are very thick. Very creative use of dosa, which is like a thin crepe like pastry that holds savory fillings and can be dipped into curry sauce. Well, that is at least how I have tried them in the past at other Indian restaurants. Ganesh Dosa added western twist and made the dosa more friendly. The cook apparently slightly over cooked our initial order and remade it very quickly. Then, he gave me both the first and the second order. I have no idea how this much flavor can be packed into one little box - this is freaking AMAZING!! The crepe itself is the highlight of the meal - crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Maybe it's just me, but it also tastes a lot like a cheez-It. I love it One of the employees recommended I try the tomato chutney with it, which is a spicy dipping sauce. If you like spice this is an amazing combo. The soup that comes with it is also super fresh and packed with flavor. My fiancé and I were visiting from Los Angeles and walked by Ganesh Dosa after having a light dinner across the street. This cute little spot is in the same plaza as the Manoa Chocolate Factory. The inside was very small but also cozy. We ordered the chefs recommendation and got the coconut chutney. The dosa was HUGE- I ended up sharing with my fiancé and it was very delicious and filling. The dosa was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The food was SO DELICIOUS and SO HEALTHY!! I also tried their mango lassi and for some reason I thought it was vegan, but it has greek yogurt so my fiancé didn't try it. I thought it was light and refreshing. We loved every bite of our dosa and chutney, and really wished we had something like this in SoCal. We were surprised that it was relatively slow on a Friday night. The owner and owner's wife were working that night and are such a lovely couple who have unique backgrounds. We highly recommend checking them out and sparking a conversation with the couple. I was so excited to learn that there was an Indian Dosa available in Kailua, Oahu. Sadly, that excitement waned rather quickly. I ate here on January 6th, 2024. The menu should have been the warning--glaring down off the menu boards were some bizarre options; dosa with Nutella, Mozzarella Cheese, Olives ... what??? I'm all for the fusion of food from different cultures, but it works best when the original integrity of the dish is maintained. Anyhow, I gave it all the benefit of the doubt, and ordered a Classic Dosa. I've eaten the Dosa all over the world: Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, UK, mainland US, and extensively when I lived in India for a short while. So I'm pretty well versed on the dish. This was probably the worse Dosa I've eaten. The Dosa itself was overcooked, chewy and not at all light and crispy as it should be. The potato filling was not too bad, but the portioning of the filling was on the small side. The chutneys--essential to the success of a Dosa--were terrible in both flavor profile and portion. The red chutney tasted like it was straight from a can/jar. The coconut chutney was okay'ish, but didn't taste fresh. My issue with the chutneys, also, was that the dish only comes with one, and there's a $1 charge for each additional chutney (super teeny-tiny portions). This is a rip-off. The Sambar was terrible--also tasted like it was straight from a can. Didn't resemble Sambar at all. My husband ordered the Idli. These were grayish/white in color, dense, chewy, and tasted old; I suspect they were made in a big batch quite some time before being served. The ambience of the place was sparse, lacking any kind of personality and did not reflect the Indian influence/inspiration at all; unless you can count the large garish decal of Ganesh on the wall. Service was pleasant enough but not particularly personable, somewhat perfunctory. We chose to eat-in, and would expect the food to be served on a plate ... but no. It was served on a tray, with food sitting directly on paper (when I asked for a plate, was told they don't have them (!) and the only option was to use one side of a take-out box). Sambar and chutneys were served in take-out containers. Whilst it's traditional to eat Indian food with your hand, some folks (like me) prefer to use a knife/fork/spoon when there isn't a sink available for washing hands first. The only cutlery was plastic, and it was so cheap it kept breaking! After eating I took a peek at the cooking area; this was dirty and messy with food bits-and-pieces all over. I would not recommend Ganesh Dosa at all. This place is a lost opportunity for both the owners and the patrons. Customer service was poor, ambience was poor and the food was poor. read more

I really liked Ganesh Dosa when they were at ohana marketplace so wanted to try them at their new location in kailua. Cute small and bright interior space. It's been a while since I last had the Mediterranean dosa, but it was just as good, with the coconut chutney and sambar soup. I like the iced chai tea too. I tried the tomato chutney but it reminded me too much of a ketchup. The lady who made the dosa (probably one of the owners) was nice and seemed happy but the guy who took my order seemed kind of blah, maybe tired or annoyed. Slight increase in price from ohana marketplace but that is to be expected. I hope this place continues to do well. read more

Been wanting to try this place when it was in town but luckily was out in Kailua for the weekend a while back and stopped by. We tried the Classic and the Californian and both were really good. We bought two thinking it might not be that much if it's just a crepe sort of thing but it was very filling! I've had Dosa before at my brother's wedding (in-laws are Jain and the food was fiyah so I have high expectations of what Dosa is/can be). I liked the original a bit more than the Californian but I'd recommend either. The chutney was a perfect complement to the Dosa and the Lentil soup was warming and delicious as well. There was plenty of parking. We beat the line but it does seem like since it's made fresh that there can be a bit of a wait. Totally worth it in my opinion. read more
