Great for vegans, clean eaters and food lovers that enjoys new cuisines. We had the Supreme and California wraps. Both filled with cheese, vegetable, and Indian spices. The flavor is mild. The wrap is hot and crispy, with a little bit of sourness, but not as sour as the Ethiopian bread, however, same idea. That's probably where the probiotic benefit came from. Went here once when they opened up in the old Ohana Hale Marketplace...soon to be a condo. I had the Classic Dosa and the dosa, curried potatoes, and chutney were all superb. Not too spicy and very flavorful. First the dosa is light...consider it an Indian crepe, but healthier, as it is made from lentils and rice, which is typical of a traditional dosa. I finally visited their fairly new Kailua locale and it is on 315 Uluniu Street. A public parking lot - metered and spacious - is accessible via Malaniu Avenue. There are metered stalls along Uluniu but it is hard to find an empty stall around lunchtime. Nicely air conditioned, they have sliding doors to access their interior. The dining area is L-shaped with counter-top seating adjacent to their cooking space and ordering counter. A few dining tables are in the front and a couple of tables are outside. Requested the Mediterranean Dosa with Coconut Chutney. Also, excellent. Sevice is quick despite walking in and ordering takeaway. read more

The interior looks clean, bright, and spacious - maybe because of the natural lighting from the glass windows of this end of the building. The new home of Ganesh Dosa is located almost next to Cinnamon's. The entrance faces the metered Municipal parking lot. Owners, Pablo and Moe, are still friendly and cheerful as ever! Service is so helpful! For example, I needed guidance in ordering something non-spicy. Pablo stated that the potatoes have some kick on them, so, we narrowed down my selection to the Mediterranean Dosa. I was happy with the goat cheese, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes and olives! If you're craving something a bit exotic, a dosa might be good for you. It's like a sour dough crepe - kind of like a burrito - filled with different ingredients. It's healthy and filling without a heavy feeling. Give it a try! Besides salads, vegan options and a sweet Nutella version of dosas are available, too! ***2.5 STARS*** After recently reading current reviews of some Yelp friends, I wanted to kick myself for not trying Ganesh Dosa (GD) before they moved from Ohana Hale Marketplace to a storefront in Kailua in June 2021. I do enjoy Indian cuisine but don't recall ever eating dosa, an Indian crepe usually filled with savory items. I'm happy when local businesses expand and move on to the next level. I'm a townie and didn't mind the drive to Kailua to meet up with some friends for several foodie stops on our list that day. It was a late Friday afternoon and I scored street metered parking just near Kailua Square. But it was somewhat difficult locating GD as I didn't see any signage as I entered the building. I noticed most stores were already closed. I arrived to the back of the building and saw an empty parking lot. I then doubted myself and started asking if I was in the right area. Luckily, one of my friends popped up and motioned me to GD's entrance. After struggling to locate GD, I was impressed as the restaurant is quite spacious, bright and clean. They have several tables and counter space for dine-in. I was greeted by a friendly male staff, where I informed him my preferences. This was my first time here and needed suggestions. The staff suggested the Chef's Recommendation (potato masala, jarlsberg cheese, tomato, avocado and kalamata olives). We were the only patrons at that time so it didn't take too long to make my dosa. I should have watched the staff prepare my dosa but I got engaged with my friends to catch up with current events. The next thing I know, my dosa was delivered to my table. I snapped away with my cell and it was time to dig in. VERDICT: I am glad that I tried dosa but realize it's not my cup of tea. My dosa was eaten immediately so the crepe was still crispy. For me, I wasn't impressed. I tried the dosa with and without the tomato and coconut chutney - - pureed so fine that they reminded me of baby food. I also tried the dosa with sambar soup, where I found it watery and lacked depth. Overall, I am glad that I finally tried GD but not eager to come back anytime soon. During my travels abroad to Europe, Asia, and South East Asia, I had come across Indian street vendors and restaurants featuring dosas: idli/idly, vada, uttapam, rava, paper, and more. All were served with at least two chutneys and a cup of searing hot (temperature) sambar, a kind of lentil and vegetable stew. Masala dosa, one of the most popular dosa preparations, is filled with stir-fried curry potatoes. Being the curious eater, I'd boldly step up to see what the locals were ordering and then order similarly. Most times, I'd come away with happy taste buds and a full belly. Typically, I'd pair the dosa with a steaming hot cup of badaam (almond milk), chai tea, coffee, or a chilled mango lassi. Dosas are gluten-free, vegan, and naturally fermented. They have been compared to tortillas and crêpes as they're flat, round, and usually serve as a vehicle for savory accompaniments. Dosas are made from a thick batter of ground rice and lentils, poured like a pancake onto a flat pan (a Tawa in India) or griddle and cooked until one side crisps into an even brown while the other side retains a soft, sponge-like texture with sour notes. Typically, dosas are a breakfast food, but in America, it's usually presented as a main course or a side at dinner. Sorry, I digressed and now let's get to the review! About two years ago, I heard about Hawai'i's first and only South Indian food stall dedicated to paper dosas. It was located in the Ohana Hale Marketplace, but I only started to go there late last year during the pandemic. After meeting owners Pablo and Moe, who would deftly make the paper dosas to order and fill them with the desired filling, I felt like kicking myself for waiting so long to try them. I began to work my appetite through their menu (luckily, they only offered five items). However, recently, Pablo and Moe left the Ohana Hale Marketplace food stall space to open their new brick-and-mortar location in Kailua. The newly opened storefront is located at 315 Uluniu Street in the Kailua Square. However, for more direct access, you should park in the municipal parking lot with its entrance on Aulike Street (you'll see the Kailua Professional Center). You can't miss their business sign. This new space has multiple seating options (chairs and tables or barstools and counter), is bright and open, and is comfortably air-conditioned. They have unique and expanded menu boards that offer seven main dosas, cheese dosas, soups, salads, sweet dosas, and beverages. The dosa prices range from $7 - $16. Both Pablo and Moe are friendly and passionate about making the dosa of your choice as they make it to order. I would recommend eating your dosa as a dine-in. However, they'll pack the dosa, chutneys, and a bowl of sambar for take-out. The takeout remained hot for 25 minutes until we returned home but lost most of its crispness. It'll still taste good as you dip your dosa into the sambar or chutney. I ordered the Full Belly dosa, which is their latest menu addition. -Full Belly: potato masala, goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, and avocado. The paper dosa was crisp, but because I did a takeout, the dosa softened. Fortunately, the edges remained crisp. Moe included takeout containers of coconut chutney and tomato chutney. The sambar was packed in a bowl that was larger than their former location. I opened the container holding my dosa, and the interior of my car was perfumed with this delicious breakfast. It is a bittersweet departure from my neighborhood, but I'm genuinely happy about their move to the Kailua neighborhood. Kailua has gained this excellent South Indian dosa snack shop. read more

Stuff from cheese to avocado, olives, sun dried tomatoes, even nutella. Stuff cost more. Breaking it down: Dosa - OK but lacks the fermented gently sour flavor. Not to make anyone hurl but the fermentation is triggered by urad dal, fenugreek seeds and the bacteria from the cook. Ingredients are mixed by hand for a reason. Maybe sweating in 90F 95% humidity and using more natural soap and detergents helps different bacteria thrive? Potato Masala - Well seasoned but taste of dried spices instead of using curry leaves, fresh chilies, etc. Also, lacks spice heat. Maybe a good thing for Hawaii. Chutney (tomato / coconut) - The tomato lacks substance (not chunky). Both have some mild heat but neither fiery spicy. Again, maybe a good thing. Add all the additional fillings; the "Chef" filled with jarlsberg cheese, fresh tomato, avocado and olives is bright and vibrant, the "Supreme" with jarlsberg, sundried tomatoes, and spinach, tart and hearty. A cup of sambar (spicy potato, lentil, turmeric stew) for dipping comes with. Huge portions. Friendly service. Plenty of metered lot and street parking. In the same building as Cinnamons. Excellent customer service and good recommendations given from the menu. Had the "Chef Recommendation" and the "Mediterranean" crepes. As a person of Indian descent, I will admit I had my doubts and thought this may be a "watered down" western experience of a true Indian dosa. Not so! I was glad to be proven wrong. All of the Indian flavors were there, although they weren't as intense as those in India. I find this very good because I didn't leave feeling bloated or greasy. Negative one star: didn't like the olives in the chef's special (just didn't go well in my opinion, although the rest of the ingredients in the dosa were on point!) and for not serving both the tomato and coconut chutneys with each dosa; thankfully each dosa order already came with sambar. We had to pick one chutney or the other, and authentically speaking there are usually three chutneys and a sambar per dosa order. I believe asking for an extra chutney came at a cost, but they gave us an extra on the house. Staff were very nice and I overheard them explaining and encouraging first timers, so I thought that was pleasant. Ambiance was clean and simple which was great. Will definitely go back to get my dosa fix. read more

Started going to this business when they had opened in Ohana Market Place in Ward originally, now located in Kailua next to Cinnamon's. The owners are extremely friendly and had actually reached out to me to let me know that they had moved. If you don't know what a dosa is, it's like an Indian crepe. The crepe part is made of fermented rice and lentil and the fillings are all vegetarian with vegan options. So definitely healthier than your average crepe but that healthiness does not in any way decrease their deliciousness. They are packed with flavor and now can come with their new tomato chutney. I'm admittedly not a huge tomato fan but this tomato chutney is a game changer. There are multiple preset options for dosa or you can create your own and each comes with their sambar soup which is packed with a curry like flavor that was so good. Be still my heart...we have a Dosa Spot on the island! I discovered Ganesh Dosa quite by accident on a recent excursion to Manoa Chocolate Factory in Kailua. As a lifelong Indian cuisine fanboy...I was visibly giddy when I saw this small shop and couldn't wait to come back to try them. The reviews looked promising and I'm happy to report, they lived up to my expectations! A fast-casual and modern take on the dosa, there are many options to choose from. For the "Dosa Virgins" among you...this is a simple crepe made from a batter of soaked then ground rice, lentils and spices...cooked on large griddle and stuffed with any number of delicious fillings. The grand-daddy OG dosa would be the Masala Dosa, a dosa stuffed with spicy curried mashed potatoes. Ganesh Dosa gives you a number of interesting choices...some traditional...others decidedly NON-traditional...like mozzarella cheese and avocado. Dosas are always served with with a spicy yellow pea and vegetable soup called Sambar. It's perfect for dipping your crispy potato filled dosa in. We chose the Vegan Supreme which came with masala potato, spinach, sun-dried tomato's and avocado. It was spectacular and withstood the 30 minute drive back to town from Kailua. Highly recommended!! Everything is sooo clean and they have an open kitchen, so you can actually see them making the dosa. I tried the Classic Dosa and Mediterranean dosa with Chai. They both were really really good. I remember them from the Ohana Hale Marketplace. That place before General Growth tore them down for more homes that are not affordable for our local families - but I digress. I'm glad they found a home, but I have to travel to Kailua to experience their delicious Dosa's! On this visit I went for a California Dosa, but swapped I. mozzarella cheese instead of cheddar. The dosa itself was crispy on its exterior and maintained a unctuous chew. It came with a sambar soup that made for such a lovely lunch. They make the dosa to order and it took no more than 5-10 minutes to be done. They also offer a sweet, Nutella filled dosa if you are still hungry. But one dosa is uber satisfying on it's own. I felt like the prices were overpriced for what the food was and the service was apathetic at best. The best part of the meal was the side of lentil soup. They directed us to the building but didn't provide restroom keys, which was inconvenient, especially for my elderly mother who had to climb stairs unnecessarily. This place is so good! We discovered it today after going to the Aloha Home Market in Kailua. We'd never had this type of Indian food. We ordered the Chef's Recommendation, the Full Belly, and a mango lassi. There was plenty of seating. The over ambience was very relaxing. A dosa is like an Indian crepe. The menu says it is made of fermented rice and lentils but I couldn't tell. The dosa portions are huge. We could have easily split one. I liked the Full Belly better than the Chef's Recommendation because I don't love olives. There is also a vegan option but we aren't vegans and love cheese. Please be advised this is a vegetarian place. But everything was so flavorful and delicious. The crepe wasn't too doughy, it was nice and crispy. The potato masala is delicious and chock full of Indian spices that I couldn't identify. Since each dosa came with a chutney, we got one of each. I was told the coconut chutney will be a bit spicy but it wasn't for me. I liked the tomato chutney better. The soup was also very tasty and full of flavor. There were a variety of vegetables that I forgot to try to identify before I drank it all up. I was so pleased we stopped by. All the restaurant workers are also so friendly. One of my favorite foods is Indian and this place makes an excellent Dosa. As my mother equally appreciates Indian food as well, we made it a lunch date. We both went traditional with their Classic. It is a vegan meal that is very satisfying. Everything is made to order, so it comes out hot and fresh. Filled with potato malasa, it seems sort of basic, but has great flavors from the spiced potatoes and the dosa's sort of mild sour dough taste. I recommend getting a chutney to go with it just to add a bit more contrast to the flavors. It also comes with a cup of Sambar soup, so it makes for a complete meal. Only thing I would suggest is to make the potato masala a bit more spicier or offer a hotter option. They do offer other dosa fillings that are more Western and even some that are desserts, so if you like crepes, you will really like these and maybe even better. It's not a large menu, but enough to find something to appeal to your taste buds. All dishes offered are either vegan or vegetarian, so for those that are health nuts would love this place. read more

Tasty. If you've ever eaten at the Hare Krishna place on the Pali... it's got that over-all flavor. I miss going to that place for lunch with their ginger-lemonade and it's huge banyan tree out back. (Temp closed) This food reminds me of it. Made to order, so it comes out hot. We got the "supreme". The dosas come with a side of a small, light, dal-ish type soup. One order is probably two meals for most people. The crepe-like bread is thin and grilled with oil so mixed with the soup, it really seemed to expand in my stomach. The soup has a little bit of spicy heat which I liked it a lot! Gotta try if you like different cuisines from around the world, its pretty yummy. Oh, we took it home and ate it within 5 minutes of taking it out. I wouldn't let it sit much longer than that before eating as I suspect it would affect the crispness. read more

It is a small, bright, clean restaurant with the same great dosa plates that they served at Ohana Marketplace on Ward Avenue. The batter that makes the wrap comes out crispy yet chewy and you can add whatever you want in your Dosa or choose from the ones on the menu. I had the one with the curried potatoes, cheese, tomato, avocado.....so yummy! You can order a coconut or tomato based sauce to dip it in or you can dip it in the soup that accompanies it. Each of the chutneys were so yummy and went so well with the dosa! Next time I will order an extra chutney per dosa because it was hard to ration one container for the one huge dosa.
