10/10, SO GOOD!! And BYOB! I could and should eat their lamb korma curry every day. It's sooo umami/savory and well seasoned with lots of lamb chunks inside, goes so well with the large bowl of basmati rice that's included with each curry dish, and also goes so well with their super good garlic naan! We also loved the malai kofta, loved the potato balls in it. Scraped up every last drop! Their samosa chaat is super good as well! Large portion, ingredients tasted fresh! We only found out this time that there's a small free parking lot!! Such a necessity in Kapahulu! It's around the corner on Winam Ave, there's like around 5-7 stalls, and a large sign that says "Kamana Kitchen Parking". This is a game changer cuz if anything parking was like the biggest barrier for us to go. So can't wait to go back more often now!! The staff is SO friendly!! So attentive, loved learning about our ethnic backgrounds, sharing where he's from, where the foods originate from, etc. There's never a wait here, even when we went for 2 ppl on a Friday night. Not great and not fresh. It was our first day in Oahu and we were excited to try this new Kamana Kitchen restaurant (this is their 2nd restaurant), so we went in and asked the server whats their most popular and most fresh ones. He replied two - Malai Kofta and Kadhai Paneer, so we ordered both them. He also suggested their Gobhi Manchurian is the best and we ordered that too, along with Tandoori Roti (again his suggested bread), Garlic Naan and Onion Kulcha. All the dishes that he had suggested were disappointing. Only two things were fresh and tasted fine - Garlic Naan and Onion Kulcha. Gobhi Manchurian - 1/5 - they were super hard, we left two pieces (out of 8 pieces) which were like rock. Seems like they were not fresh and they tried to re-fry them for 10 sec to make them hot and that made them rock hard. Surprising part was when we told the server that it is not good, they said they will make it fresh and better next time ( we are eating now, why would we care about next time) Kadhai Paneer - 2/5 still better than the other curry, eatable but nothing special. Quantity was very less. Malai Kofta - 1/5 - super disappointing and didn't even was the Malai kofta- in reality it was more like Vegetable cutlets (they called it Kofta) dipped on Korma sauce. It seemed like the sauce was just store bought or frozen and tasted nothing. Tandoori Roti- 1/5- not fresh at all- very stretchy and seemed like they were just lightly warmed. Oops, this is for the new Kailua location:, not Honolulu: Small little Indian cuisine spot in a strip mall. Outside Table was so tiny, couldn't our full order do used a chair. It's sized for two having a single dish. So keep that in mind. There are only three tables inside, two slightly larger and a tiny one Take out is a better choice but we wanted to est there. We ordered chicken korma, butter chicken, butter naan, sweet lassi and mango lassi. Basmati rice comes with the entrees. Include 2 glasses of water and two dinner plates. So the naan and the rice had to go on a chair. There are only two chairs so we had to scramble to find a spare. Overall, the food is good. We enjoyed the butter chicken which was sweet, the chicken korma was ok, loved the naan, was puffy and slightly crisp. Fluffy basmati rice. The lassi's were delicious, both flavors. It was a wonderful lunch. Prices were reasonable , service was lovely. and we'll be back. Weird encounter which was quite Inappropriate. We were solicited by two young Mormon girls right in the middle of our meal. They just wouldn't leave, at least 10 minutes of random nothing. Kids need to learn manners. I've always gone to the Kamana Kitchen in downtown and was happy when I found out they opened a second location. Since it's located along Kapahulu street, the location is a bit inconvenient. However, there is parking on the side of the building or street parking. I went in the afternoon and was lucky enough to get street parking across the street. When I went in, there was only one other party. The restaurant was also a bit hot. I'm not sure if it's because the aircon wasn't working or what but they did have fans. The server was kind enough to give us the table in front of the fan because he knew it was hot. The service was very quick and the food came out fast. The server was very nice and attentive. The food was as delicious as I remember. Everything was flavorful. And the one thing I appreciate is that the basmati rice comes with the curry, other Indian restaurants make you pay extra. read more

I came here for the first time with a group of friends and enjoyed the food. Staff were extremely friendly and provided excellent recommendations. I loved the vast variety of vegetarian and vegan options. Everything was so delicious. I really enjoyed the vegan Aloo Gobi - cauliflower and potatoes. The nan was delicious too. We love Indian food and I love Lamb! We parked on Kapahulu Avenue which is metered streets parking. Free on Sunday! We walked in, waited a little while and we were seated shortly after. We ordered Chili Fish $13.95 Butter Chicken $19.45 Lamb Korma $20.45 Butter Garlic Naan $4.45 Butter Garlic Cheese Naan $6.45 It came out shortly after. It looked good and it was good. My husband's and my go-to dinner spot! Friendly staff and amazing food. We love the shrimp palak and lamb. Their mango lassi is served without ice which makes it thicker and creamier than others. So refreshing and flavorful. They also have locations in Chinatown and now in Kailua. read more

An overall very solid 4.5. It could be argued that the .5 that takes away from the perfect score might maybe be what adds a touch of offbeat charm to the overall experience. Like the lighting is too bright, and the booths feel like church pews, some of the tables move around, and the parking is hard if all the designated stalls are gone and you have to compete with Kapahulu residents for street parking.I do like that its run by a bunch of Indian dudes. There's more than a handful of them, I think they even float between locations, and these guys are everything from courteous and friendly, to blunt and intimidating, to waaay to forward and flirty. They are all attentive and authentic in their own way and their service is sincere. I also love, love, love a BYOB no corkage fee. Timing of food has always been efficient. But what I love most about this place is the tastiness of the food. It has been my go to for the past 3 years since I happened upon it. It even got my picky kids eating Indian food, which my prior go to spot was unable to achieve. I tend to order the same things on repeat which is the paneer or shrimp korma. chicken tikki masala, and the family favorite, chicken butter masala. We usually order garlic or butter naan but all of the curries come with it's own side of rice so unless you are a huge rice eater there is no need to order extra. I crave this place on a regular. If you want tasty food, casual vibes, and a no fuss townie dinner at a reasonable price then this is the spot for your next Indian craving. read more

Finally got to try this place with friends which was good for sharing. Went on Sunday at 5:30 and were impressed at how almost all the tables were full. Service was nice and friendly but poor guys were smashed trying to juggle everyone. We got chili chicken with bell peppers and onions, chicken tikka masala, shrimp biryani, chicken kebab with sauce, and both naan and roti. The dish with the most flavor was the chili chicken which friend said reminded him of a sizzling sechuan platter without the sizzle. Portions are generous so we had a lot of leftovers to take home. I thought the chicken was a little overcooked and cut a bit large for my liking, but flavors were good and even better as leftovers when they had soaked in more. For dessert my friend and I shared a Gajar halwa- cooked carrot pudding which was surprisingly good. We couldn't put our finger on the flavor but good old Google helped us identify it as cardamom. Dinner in Kapahulu, Honolulu, Hawaii... I was hopeful after reading reviews of the parking situation... There are a few free stalls on the Palani Avenue side. However, they were all filled when we got there on a Saturday evening. Luckily, someone was leaving a street stall and we took it! YAY! We entered the spacious restaurant, formerly occupied by Haili's Hawaiian Foods. Bee was our competent, friendly, and helpful server. Friends recommended this place, and it did not disappoint, so we've returned for several repeat visits! Delicious, savory food, with customizable spice level, 1 (mild)-6 (very spicy). We are spice lovers, but when we first visited the restaurant, we gauged the level by our server, who said she liked food at a 5, but 6 was too spicy: we went with a 4, which was comfortably hot. We ordered palak paneer, chicken masala, lamb vindaloo, baigan bharta (eggplant), and the breadbasket, which had regular and garlic naan, and roti. I felt the eggplant and vindaloo were particular standouts, and the bread was tasty. The chicken breast in the Tikka Masala, also the basmati rice were both dry, otherwise this would be a 5 star review. On subsequent visits, we've also had the chicken madrashi, chana masala, raita: also tasty! Friendly, efficient service, and free parking on Winam Ave. in marked stalls next to the restaurant. Prices are arguably a little high to make this a regular go-to, but Hawai'i doesn't have a lot of good Indian food options. read more

A no frills, always reliable Indian restaurant. Delicious food that is reasonably priced compared to other nearby Indian spots. I like to order the Chicken vindaloo, medium spice, and the vegetable samosa appetizer. The chicken in the vindaloo is tender and soaks up the flavor of all the aromatic spices. Medium spice level is on the milder side, so if you want spice, order it hot. I also really appreciate that the curry orders include rice, spiced with cardamom and clove. Most places require you to order rice on the side. The samosas have a thin flaky wrapping and are not too oily, and they taste even better with the minty sauce it comes with. Staff are always friendly and helpful. The only inconvenience is the parking. There is 1 spot in back, on Winam Ave. that is usually taken, so you may have to find street parking on Kapahulu. read more

My husband on the other hand is more open with different types of cuisines and he's loved indian food as far as i remember. I've heard good things about Kamana Kitchen and that their original location was downtown. Their new spot opened up in kapahulu - the old hawaiian food restaurant on the corner and next to pizza hut. Parking is available in front of an apartment complex which is SUPER WEIRD because sometimes the people who live in the apartment just hang outside of their doors or lanai and just watch you. Kinda of a bummer for the residents there that probably don't have parking for their unit, but a win for the restaurant owner because parking is pretty rough in Kapahulu. During lunch there is a 15% off promo before 2 pm. I showed them the flyer just in case since someone prior did not get the discount. While I don't go out to eat as often anymore with kids, I do still get takeout and this is one of my favorite takeout spots. It's a little expensive, but I absolutely love their curries and especially their cheese naan. The location is convenient. The parking is easy and the workers are so accommodating and friendly. This branch of the Chinatown Kamana location - the New Kamana Kitchen is wonderful! I have been wanting to bring my kiddos to the original location for a while but parking there is iffy at best. So I was so excited for this location when it opened. I FINALLY got them in and the space is clean and huge in comparison to the other location. It's clean and there's a hand washing sink available too! Now.....the service - outstanding. A nice young man named Sebastian was so engaging with my children (3 - 8 year old boys) that they felt like they made a friend. The owner Raj was kind and spent time talking about the food with my sons. Speaking of the food....the boys say, "5 stars because they were able to make vegetables taste good!" We had the shrimp korma, shrimp palak, mixed grill, aloo gobi, naan, garlic naan, samosas, and cheese naan. It was all amazing. But shockingly to myself and the boys, they all agreed that the shrimp palak was their fave. I love when Indian food can be tasty without being oily. And has so much flavor with or without spice. FOOD After perusing their menu, we chose to the Meat Samosa to start, and ordered the Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Chicken Tandoor as mains. An order of Cheese Naan completed the meal. The samosas were incredibly delicious, a precursor of what was to come out from the kitchen. Firstly, the food was brought out promptly. Almost immediately, our group of 4 commented that the Chicken Tandoori was quite good. Unfortunately, I think I was the lone person that preferred the Chicken Tikka Masala over the Butter Chicken.....though the Butter Chicken was good. Just not as great as the Chicken Tikka. Honourable mention goes to the Cheese Naan! So good! I secretly wanted my own order. SERVICE Very attentive. The staff was very welcoming when we walked in, and just friendly and polite. We drove by this place the other day and decided to give it a try. We ordered delivery for lunch and were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food. We ordered a variety of dishes to try the menu, and the order was not inexpensive. Unfortunately, none of the items met expectations. Here's why: Meat Samosa - Dry, oily, not tasty. Felt like it was reheated. Chilli Chicken - Not bad or great. Actually the only dish that we ate. Mixed Tandoori Grill - Extremely dry, artificially colored, not flavorful. Papadum - missing Item. Gulab Jamun - Very watery syrup. Raita - Missing Item. Butter Naam - Soggy. Mango Lassi - We couldn't taste mango only yogurt. The food was so poorly prepared that my Indian boyfriend commented that this is exactly how Indian food gets a bad reputation. Overall, a very disappointing experience and not something we would order again. First off, amazing customer service; I'm not sure who our server was but he had so much pizzazz and spunk! He almost sold me on ordering more food when I already knew what I wanted and that says a lot. My friend and I decided to share their Veggie Pakora, Butter Chicken, and Garlic Naan. Absolutely LOVED the Pakora. I never had it before but it reminded me of a cross between falafels and onion rings. It was a plentiful amount and paired really well with the sauces (not sure what they were but combined was delicious) The food didn't look like much at first but halfway through, we were getting pretty stuffed and I'm glad we didn't order any more because I would have ended up taking a nap there. Would I come back again? Most definitely! But hopefully with a bigger appetite. They have couple stalls on the side (residential area) but there's always street parking as well read more

Went here for a girlfriends birthday lunch and she choose this Indian restaurant! It was my first introduction to Indian food except for I love Naan bread.
