This tailor ruined a pair of expensive wool ladies' slacks. What I wanted done was to have the waist and the seat of the slacks taken in. What I ended up with was a pair of slacks with a front that didn't lie flat and bagging at the seat and the top of the legs in the back. According to Gangemi, the poor fit was because I had one hip higher than the other. First, I am totally unaware of any physical abnormality. No tailor has ever commented on that before. Second, I had just had another pair of slacks altered in the same way, and beautifully, at Peter's in Harrison. Third, it is the job of the tailor to make the garment fit. Isn't that why he, personally, marked the the garment before altering it? Also, for what it's worth, the alternation was not completed on the date promised. read more

This place does fabulous alterations. Wedding dresses and suits are most often done very excellently. Not cheap but so worth the money. Here is why I only gave 3 stars. The stuff is almost never ready in time. Nice people but weeks and months go by and you often have to go twice and beg. read more

Really happy with Gangemi's alterations to my dress. It cost $55 to shorten it (it was silk shantung). They told me to pick it up in 2 weeks and it was ready when they said it would be. It was a professional job, the people were friendly and efficient, and they let me try it after it was done to see if it looked ok. I asked if they could let me have the remenants and they saved those for me as well. A problem-free experience. read more

Top notch work and reasonable prices. Only downside is they don't take credit cards (old school place) but it's worth it. They are pretty reasonable when it comes to timing-if you tell them you need it soon, they'll work with you. Otherwise, the wait will be a few weeks for even simple alterations. I had an extremely unpleasant experience speaking with this business, so much so that this is my first post on Yelp! I walked in and pleasantly greeted the gentleman at the counter, and found him to be rude and abrasive. I had a pretty basic request, and got the sense that this gentleman just could not be bothered. His reaction was quite unnecessary and I don't think it was an appropriate or professional way to treat a new customer. I was so uncomfortable speaking to him that i politely told him I would take the items somewhere else. The biggest bummer is that the location is so convenient and I have several pieces that could use some professional quality tailoring. Being new to the area, I wanted to give business to a small business owner in my community. Hopefully, there are more professional tailors elsewhere in Westchester! read more

Gamemi tailors are the best! I had 4 jackets and a coat all cashmere and new. My close friend had died and his wife offered me much of his new clothes, never warn. They were extremely expensive and high quality, Custom made for him, But although or sizes were almost identical ,his arms were much shorter than mine. Or mine much longer than his.... several of our local tailors said they could not do anything as there was not enough fabric to lengthen the arms. After I was ready to give up and return them, my wife reminded me of Gamemi who made a suite for me years ago.. I went there, he looked at them and showed me how he could lengthen them and it not be noticeable. He not only did a perfect job, gut his price was very reasonable, and they were ready in a few days. read more
