I had a terrible experience with this business. I asked them to repair a ribbon on a hat and they accepted the job. When I returned one month later they still had not done the repair. I then returned the next week and they'd lost the ribbon. The middle-aged woman not only did not apologize but was outrageously rude behaving as if I were in the wrong. Finally, several days later I returned yet again and the elderly gentleman was very kind acknowledging that the ribbon had been torn due to its age. The middle-age woman with whom I had dealt should be let go. She has no business interacting with customers, particularly since the rate for their services is high. read more

I brought a favorite dress in to have the hem mended - I'd stepped on it on the way up the stairs and caused a tear. They asked if I wanted it shortened to get rid of the torn part and I specifically said no because I wear it with heels so I need to keep the length. I asked to please just put a patch on the back, saying I understood it won't look perfect up close but it's a busy patterned fabric so it won't be obvious. I picked the dress up yesterday to find that they'd done the opposite, I'd lost about 2" from the skirts length, and now I can't wear it with heels and it also looks awkward with flats. Really disappointed at the disregard of my request. read more

I brought my maid of honor dress here to be altered. I only needed it to be shortened. It had two underskirts and two tulle skirts (the tulle skirts only needed to be cut with scissors, not sewed, really). The lady that works there had an attitude immediately. She said it's 4 layers and that she has to charge me double. I was ok with that as long as they do their job. They charged me $130 when I picked up the dress. When I tried it on at home, the upper underskirt was so crooked, I saw it immediately. I measured it, the sides had 2 inches difference. The job wasn't done very nicely either, it was visibly wrinkled. I cried. She said they will fix it for me and I asked if they can try to do it seamlessly as they had to adjust the length with the fabric they already cut off. The result could be seen in the photos. Not only it is very visible and wrinkled, the skirt has greasy stains and holes from pins. There is no way I could wear the dress to the wedding (and look nice), which is in 2 weeks and I'm leaving in a week. The dress was $350 plus tax. I wanted my money back but the lady said she can't give it to me. She gave me the owners name and address (she claimed it was his address but it was 2 Church Street - the business address where we were located at the moment) and said he doesn't have a phone! When I demanded some answers she said to come back in a week (knowing I will be abroad at that time). The last thing she said was that, the owner is on a vacation because people go on vacations this time of year. I bought a new dress (luckily they still had my size) and paid $422 with the expedited shipping. Now I have to find a taylor abroad and pay for second alteration. I cried my eyes out and will be back after the wedding to demand my customer rights. I wish I didn't have to deal with it and even think about it during the wedding trip (it will be hard not to) but this should not be happening. The last thing I would like to mention is that, while the lady was very unpleasant and rude, the man that works there was very nice and at least tried to help. read more

The best tailor I have ever had. There's a reason the celebs in the area like Diana Ross go to Ted - his measurements are spot on, he's quick, and the stitching is perfect. Based out of a little hole in the wall off Church St near Putnam Ave, you can pop in any time for a quick measurement and drop off. Most work will be done within a week. No worries about leaving your designer duds. Ted has seen it all, from alterations of haute couture to fixing a rip in jeans. He's a little more expensive than a run of the mill tailor, but well worth it. I've made major mistakes in the past trying to save a couple of bucks on alterations. It's not worth the risk, unless you want the ripped jeans fixed. read more

Came to Ted because of the reviews on yelp. Had him do my now husband's suit he was going to wear for our wedding. The job was done in less than a week and done well. The only reason I give it less than 5 stars is because it's so ridiculously expensive... to hem the pants and take them in a bit plus shorten the arms. Was over $120. I had a terrible experience, charged me $150 to shorten a lace gown and hem is uneven. They will not correct alteration and will not refund money and will not let me talk to the owner. It is not the business it used to be now that the daughter is running things. Stay away! read more

I was very displeased with the attention to detail. I was searching for a tailor that I could use for all of my clothing needs and was very disappointed. I eventually had to go to another tailor to fix the poor work that was done. The expectation when you walk into an expensive tailor is that they are professional and know more than you, but I was the one that had to point out clothing not fitting correctly or length of pants not right. After two trips back and my clothing still fitting poorly I had to find another tailor. read more

My husband had to take his suits back THREE times because of the shoddy work. The first time there were several shirts that had incomplete work. After we took the shirts back they still were not done correctly, and even after a THIRD visit for the SAME shirts they STILL needed work! Ted has really lost his touch. His craftsmanship, stitching, and attention to detail are still excellent; but he has a very outdated sense of fashion, and his customer service is abysmal. He is also very expensive. He does not listen to the customer and do the alterations requested and is sometimes very rude which can be a very intimidating experience. Which results in finished product you may not be happy with or how you wanted it. The past few times I have gone to him, I have had to take the same garments to another tailor to have them do what I wanted Ted to do in the first place. I would recommend him for small things like fixing buttons, rips in pants, cuffs, etc.., but for anything serious like taking a jacket or pants, I would recommend going somewhere else. read more

I searched long and hard for a good tailor in Fairfield County. The other reviewers are right. He is not cheap, but he can take an ordinary suit, shirt, or pair of pants and make them look custom tailored.
