I booked a last-minute 48-hour trip to NYC and stayed at Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC--and overall, it was a really lovely experience. From the moment we arrived, Grace set the tone. She was incredibly kind and welcoming, even giving our dog a treat at check-in, which was such a thoughtful touch. We booked the "Woolf " package, and it exceeded expectations--our pup had a comfortable dog bed, bowls, and we were given great recommendations for dog-friendly restaurants in the area. Grace went above and beyond by sending a bottle of champagne to our room for my birthday, which was such a nice surprise. The room itself was clean, well-appointed, and had a small balcony, which made it feel extra special for a quick city escape. Anytime we needed something, the front desk responded quickly and took care of it without issue. The only downside was our experience at the rooftop bar. Unfortunately, the service there was pretty disappointing. That said, we didn't let it overshadow the rest of our stay, which was otherwise fantastic. This is one of those hipster hotels that puts all the emphasis on the sizzle but with no steak. The room was fine for the price and the guys working the door are great and that's about it. The front desk staff couldn't care less and it shows on their faces. Housecleaning didn't arrive until we asked them to come at 3:30pm just when we got back to the room after being out all day. The restaurants on the first floor are incredibly slow, wildly overpriced even for NYC and the staff are under-trained. The hotel is centrally located but you may not like the trade-off. read more

I had really high hopes for this hotel as I have heard nothing but good things; the hotel was decent but I was not overly impressed. I love the area that the hotel is in, it's convenient as you can pretty much get whatever you need, from coffee, to food to shopping in a 5-10 minute walk. The area is also not overly busy so you don't need to deal with huge crowds which is nice. Upon arrival, we received very welcoming greetings from the valet service, to the woman at the front desk, and the rest of the staff. The hotel lobby is nothing special, it is minimal and not overly decorated. The woman said our room was not ready but then was able to pull a few strings to get us into a room. Our room was extremely small and very warm (and muggy) when we arrived. It was a basic room, queen bed, bathroom, no balcony, our window overlooked the roofs of other buildings and some parts of the neighboring areas. There are no frills about this place as far as the rooms go and they're definitely not worth $1000 a night. The shower was dirty and I think they have some sort of drainage issue because both the bathroom sink and shower filled up with water within seconds of being turned on. However, the bed was probably one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in, their staff was very attentive, in particular a tall man who was able to meet all of our needs kindly and quickly. Those two reasons are why I am giving this hotel a four star review. We also went to the rooftop bar later in the night after dinner. One of the female bartenders asked my boyfriend twice what his drink was, it was very simple - tequila and pineapple. She made me a terrible French martini. The male bartender was nice and remade the drink for me with no questions asked. Overall, the hotel is fine but it's not worth the price and I most likely wouldn't stay there again. read more

I travel often and have stayed at many hotels across the country and abroad -- and I've never experienced anything like what happened at the Gansevoort. After returning home from my stay, I discovered that two personal items -- a pair of shoes and a bottle of perfume -- were missing from my luggage. These were not left out in the room; they were packed. The shoes were in my suitcase and the perfume was in my bag. I called and emailed the hotel immediately upon realizing, only to be told later that they don't believe anything was missing -- implying that I made it up. Why in the world would I fabricate something like this? This is not about the money. It's about the unsettling feeling of knowing someone went through my things. That violation, combined with the dismissive response, was deeply disappointing. Unfortunately, that wasn't the only issue. The front door staff routinely stood and watched as guests struggled with the heavy entry door -- including my 13-year-old who was carrying multiple coffees. Not once did anyone step in to help. Basic hospitality was noticeably lacking. I had high expectations for the Gansevoort, and the property itself is lovely. But the security, staff engagement, and accountability fell far short of what you'd expect from a hotel at this level. Would I return? No. I value trust and care in hospitality, and sadly, that was missing here -- just like my belongings. read more

This review is for Coffee + Cocktails, the bar/cafe that is on the ground floor of the hotel. We went here in the summer and sat in their outdoor seating. It was really well decorated! The service was excellent as well with all the staff being very friendly. I love coffee and cocktails and love it when the two are done well together and so was very happy with my cocktail. I've stayed at the Gansevoort Hotel multiple times and I'm currently here. Was shocked when I went to the pool to learn that the only lounge chairs available have a charge of $200 for two hours! This is absolutely ridiculous and a cash grab. The pool here is small and only has surrounding small couches and chairs. If you want to sit in one of the 6 lounge chairs you have to pay $200 for two hours. I will definitely be looking at other hotels with pools. I suggest staying at Dream Hotel in the Meatpacking District or Hotel Royale where there are plenty of free lounge chairs. To make matters worse they also decided to conduct a voluntary test of their fire alarm system at 9:30am. People from the west coast and Europe do not appreciate this. read more

We stayed here for three nights, and this hotel has everything I expected. Cable TV, Wi-Fi, mini bar with snacks. The beds were relatively comfortable, and I slept well on all the nights. But being a 5 star hotel, the price is high. We had two rooms, and it costed us almost $3,000 per room for all three nights. And the way the AC unit is configured is not great because the rooms were stuck on heat for the winter, and it was very hot in the room. We had to open our window so the room can become cold. Those doors that were closed around our room were so loud and violent they would make our room shake. I would highly recommend a member of the staff go up to the fifth floor and just stand there and listen to the slamming of doors which ricochets throughout the entire hotel, it is absolutely awful...... We will now return to the Greenwich hotel, instead of ever staying here again! The other problem is that even in the winter with the air conditioning off the rooms are very warm, which also made sleeping difficult. However when he notices we already booked he said he couldn't offered us anything but we should call Amex. Which I did. To clarify this review is for C+C, the cafe in the hotel. I was in NYC for a client project and was starving. It was 11:15am. I walked with my coworkers in the neighborhood and came across C+C, Coffee + Cocktails. The menu was displayed for breakfast and and entire menu. We ordered drinks and lunch. The waiter returned and said lunch was not served until noon and we had to order breakfast on the left side of the menu. We proceeded to place our order from the left side of the menu. Still no drinks served. They then returned and said the items we ordered were not breakfast, we now had about 5 items to choose from. We placed our order for the 3rd time. It is now 11:45 and still no drinks. We were seated outside and when I went in to the cafe to inquire about our drinks I was pretty much told to 'calm down'. We have now been here nearly 45 minutes. No drinks, no food and now, since it took so long we could actually have ordered lunch. Food arrives and one drink. Still no latte. After another 25 minutes the latte arrives. Under no circumstance should you visit this restaurant. The waiter was incompetent and had no concept of customer service and not a single manager showed their face. This is a review for the rooftop bar. Amazing vibes. GORGEOUS rooftop and surprisingly delicious food/drinks. Is it worth the $$$? I mean, if most rooftops are around the same price anyway, I would recommend this rooftop over those because of the ambience. I came here to celebrate my friend who got engaged and the server was so accommodating and kind even though we had a really large group. I got the Wagyu Beef burger and was genuinely surprised how yummy it was. Only down side was that it was $29 so a little pricey. I also got the drink "Out and Proud," which was very sweet and pretty! The walls are very thin and the doors the staff used to go up and down the stores creak SO LOUD and it's gets to be very irritating when the doors are opening every few minutes. This review is mostly for the rooftop, the downstairs bars and the overall service I have received here. I found the experience to be very worthwhile, although it is in the pricier side if you have a tight budget. This is a great place to bring friends from out of town, or for a date, or to just impress someone. The decor is modern and sleek and the place itself, from the lobby bathrooms to the outdoor pool, is immaculate and deliberately placed. Prices on everything offered match the glitz and glam so be prepared. There are two pools, a billiards table, a gym, a piano, televisions galore, bathrooms are super comfy and stocked and their concierge service is superb! The staff is wonderfully accommodating, fast and friendly. Despite the fancy decor, the staff welcome me like a princess everytime I visit. Do check it out in the early evening Thursdays through Saturdays for a nice snippet of the ambiance. Be warned that after 7pm Wednesday through Saturday night, the young and beautiful crowds come ready to party! read more

Good Morning General Manager, I've not had the moment to write you back as I've been quite busy. I was married on the fifth and was entertaining family who flew in for the wedding. I cannot begin to tell you how disappointing our stay at the Gansevoort was. Aside from the deplorable state of room 1005, which had clearly not been properly cleaned for weeks; the overall experience of the stay left me wishing I'd never booked with you. The only reason we did not depart to another property was that we were getting married. Too many moving pieces for a move like that on such short notice. And proximity to the wedding venue was of great concern. Aside from the state of the room I was very curtly informed upon arrival that the early checkin I'd been assured I had by your reservationist, was not available. I told the woman working the desk that I had been promised an early check in when I'd called a week earlier. She simply said that early check-in is not a guarantee and only a request. No apology, no concern. It was my problem. This was the first of several charming exchanges I had with a Ms. X as she is referred on my invoices. If I had been aware of that early check-in policy I would not have adjusted my travel Itenerary to be at the hotel early. As you might imagine the hours and days immediately before getting married are quite valuable. I would have used that time more efficiently than showing up for a room which was not ready. And the less I spoke to your employees the better the stay would have been. The approach Ms. X employs in her communicating with guests can be found over and over at your property. The young lady who works the evening desk shift seems genuinely annoyed by my approaching her. The only woman who works the door is also extremely annoyed about having to do her job. The general sense I get from the woman working the door is disdain. Interrupted only by the occasional rolling of her eyes. It's as though someone forces her to go to that job every day. And then doesn't pay her. My hospitality experience is extensive. I've been in the industry for twenty two years. Most of them in Manhattan. I ran venue's X and X; amongst others. It's as though your staff is under the impression that the name Gansevoort does the actual work for them. They've collectively gotten their feet under the dinner table and now they get to relax. And whatever problems arise are those of the guests. I'm sure you have many guests who buy into the lure of Gansevoort. I'm not one of them. I'm not paying for a name. I want the actual experience. And the experience was an embarrassment. Especially for the price we paid. I'm not the person who wants to speak with the manager. I'm not the person who calls out employees. But this was outrageous. I'm really an easy going customer. But not at $685.00 - $745.00 a night. And I realize that with the money we spent we are still likely on the low end of money spent by your clientele. But if this is as good as it gets for spending $5200.00 +/- in your hotel than you should should make that information public. So people know what they are actually going to get before they commit. Stayed at the Gansevoort for one night. It was a solo trip and the location was safe with so much to do! Cobblestone streets were great for pics but not for heels. Valet is pricey but convenient, it is an additional $85 dollars. The room was cute, I had a king size bed with view of the Main Street. They had full size amenities which I appreciate because I have long hair and the little bottles don't cut it. They do have a sign in the bathroom saying the will charge you if it take it with you. The room was on the colder side and couldn't get to the warm temperature I prefer. I did try their rooftop sushi restaurant and enjoyed the Omakase. It was a great experience and the staff was friendly. I highly recommend as it's kind of tucked in the back which is cool to get to. If you are looking to splurge and you are a solo traveler it's a great location with many restaurants and Starbucks reserve all within two blocks. read more

9:00 pm Saturday night and first clue: Nobody was seated outdoors at Coffee & Cocktails, the bar off the lobby at the hotel. We walked into the hotel and the doorman asks us what we want. Three more people ask us what we want before anybody considers seating us. Finally, one guy is going to show us to our seats when he stops and asks us to sit indoors. Seems in 45 minutes they have to close down outside. No problem for us. We want one drink and we are done we told him. One menu for the table. Then, we wait...about 20 minutes goes by and finally, we get our orders. One friend asked for two different drinks that weren't available and finally asked for water - which never came until we were ready to pay the check and I flagged down staff. The drinks were awful at $22 each. My cosmo was sour.It made me shudder to drink it but it is embarrassing to make a stink. It also was a cheat of a pour coming about 3/4 inch from the top of the glass. My friend's Old Fashioned equally lousy. When the waitress came over to check we told her our drinks were lousy but since it had taken about 30 minutes to get them and we were on a 45 minute window we didn't want to make a fuss. Really lovely hotel and kind staff. But for a person with a debilitating noise sensitivity, forget about getting a good nights sleep on the weekend. I went to the front desk in hopes of acquiring some ear plugs and no dice. I've got my white noise app on my phone at 100% volume and I can still hear the rooftop club across the street. It's going to be a rough 3 nights... My hopes were so high for this place and I'm left feeling completely depressed. I feel bad for the staff who is completely helpless about the booming club across the street that is still going after 1am on a Sunday. Send help? Also, don't stay here if sleep is a priority. Word of advice to this hotel: start including a full sleep kit for the busier nights. White noise machine, sleep mask, essential oils, and most importantly... multiple sets of foam ear plugs. read more

We paid $290/night for a regular queen size room. $60/day for Valet parking. There are only about two reasons why you would stay at this hotel in the Meatpacking district. - Location, it is a convenient location if you want to explore the Meatpacking district. - Young Lively vibe, cocktails were not great in my opinion. It has a nice lounge but definitely wouldn't recommend the cocktails- many were drinking beer Why this is a 1 star: - $290 is pretty decent for this hotel, typically a room here will cost you about $350+. For the price point it is NOT worth it. If the Standard Hotel is available I would stay there. - The AC or Fan didn't work... it was literally 80 degrees in our room. We turned off the heater and it was still on. Super hot and uncomfortable. We had to literally open the windows to cool down our room. And on top of that the turning knob to open the window was broken... For a "luxury" hotel as they advertise, they really should update their bathroom. - Shower head is old school - Shower curtains is old fashion and it doesn't even slide well - The position of the toilet roll was super annoying to reach for - The bathroom door is extremely tight and annoying to close. This place is in the heart of everything. If you want to be in the center of it all... this is your spot. Upon entrance, I was impressed.. nice looking, chic lobby. Helpful, friendly staff.. Hallway to the room was very clean and inviting. Rooms are definitely bigger than expected for NYC. Was pleasantly surprised. Chic pictures of scantily clad beautiful people, LOL. Very nice size bathroom. Then you set your eyes on the balcony with a breathtaking view of the Hudson and if you're lucky... a slight view of the Freedom Tower. It is VERY VERY small, no more than like 2 decent sized folks can fit at a time, so if you're afraid of heights...... just take it all in from just inside the room. ;-) Be careful of all of the items of "convenience" left around with hefty price tags attached to all. Now, to the beds.... I was underwhelmed... my bed seemed to be off kilt a bit... like an uncomfortable sinking feeling that I don't appreciate in a bed. Maybe time to replace? Overall, I did enjoy the experience at this hotel... I've been in better, but this was a solid experience (maybe that would have changed if I'd actually paid for the room... but as the guest of the paying guest, it was quite nice). read more

Went on a date I had such a great time!!! We thought the decor was great the service was amazing and the view was incredible! We ordered casamigos and it really didn't taste like it was. Now that it's the next day we have such a weird taste in out mouth I believe it wasn't casamigos. When we where there we did ask the manager he said they use casamigos but we are not convinced just cux the taste was so horrible he also promised us a shot before we left but we never got it no big deal But everything else was pretty good. Oh n be careful when u first get there the door guy outside has this super grumpy face who might make u feel uncomfortable but don't let that stop u from going up! Ok so I loved the fact the guacamole had pieces of pineapple in it! So delicious! I had a veggie burger that had an amazing white sauce not sure the name but so good! My wife booked a room for us at this hotel for a one night NYC getaway from the hustle & bustle of our daily lives in Long Island. Needless to say, we were looking for a nice little getaway. On this occasion, we checked in on a Friday. First thing, we drove, and the hotel offers valet parking. Since we had an SUV, it was $60 for the night. Expensive. What was nice though is that the hotel takes the car for you, because unless you're really lucky, especially on a weekday, there is no parking anywhere nearby. Weekends might be different. If you don't know the area, it is undergoing a massive revitalization and can get packed with trucks & construction vehicles during the week and even on the weekends. Check in was smooth and the staff here is very friendly. We were given a room on the 8th floor facing the Hudson river (the front of the hotel). Lobby area was very cool & modern. Typical of a boutique style hotel. There was a nice bar and even a pool table. The elevators are a bit old and slow, but there are three of them so getting one isn't usually a problem. The hallways are kind of dark as well. The room, like any basic hotel room in Manhattan, isn't massive, but it did have a king sized bed, which is always a must for us. The room also had a nice seating area near the window. You could see a few of the rooftop bars in the area, as well as a view of the river. (more on this in a minute). We did check out the hotel's rooftop bar area. They also are one of the few hotels with a rooftop pool. This is probably the hotel's crown jewel. I thought it was fairly quiet in our room. I could not really hear out neighbors unless somebody shouted, or dropped something heavy. My wife and I are older now, so we don't party till the wee hours of the morning. If you do, then this hotel is definitely for you. The reason I say that is because in the early hours of the morning, around 2am, we woke up to some seriously loud THUMPING music. It almost sounded like it was coming from one of the neighboring rooms, but it wasn't. I couldn't tell if it was coming from one of the rooftop bars across the street or if it was coming from the hotel's own rooftop bar area. I'd be lying if I said it didn't affect our sleep. Eventually, the music died down, around 3am. I'm not sure if getting a room on the other side of the hotel would have made a difference, but it may be something to consider if you're coming here. I still feel like the hotel is very nice with very friendly staff. Another reviewer noted that it appears that everything is for sale in the room, which can be a bit tacky, so be careful what you're consuming. It's all overpriced, of course. Even with all this though, given the location, this is still a great hotel and I would recommend it. Just proceed with caution and understand that it's not perfect, there may be some noise, and it is expensive! read more

I had a great experience here during a short business trip. The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating, checking me in quickly and offering me extra water bottles when I arrived late. The complimentary chocolates were also a nice touch. After checking into the room, I thought that I had booked a river view so I called the front desk, and while it turned out that I didn't actually book it, they upgraded me without any hesitation. The staff member that came up right away to the 11th floor to take me to the new room happened to have an injury on his foot, and yet he didn't even flinch to offer help. One of the reviewers complained about the room decor and overall condition, but I didn't have any of those issues. It was nicely maintained. There was a Dyson fan in the room but I didn't have any issues with the room temperate so I didn't use it. The complementary items included to Fiji water bottles, a small box of chocolates, and Loccitane toiletries. I found it interesting that they have plush goose for purchase ($10 each) laying on the beds. Had my kids been with me, I could see how I would have been short another $20 as they can't pass on plushies. On the downside, some nights were particularly loud but it might have been due to the location of my room to the rooftop area and the party place across the street. Not enough to bother me, but can see how someone with noise sensitivities would be. Check out was easy and painless. We are so happy we are able to come to our favorite place after such a long break. It's under new management, there are few changes. The kitchen now is closing at 10:00 pm, the music is super weird , very old, and the volume is very low, which is good on one hand- you can talk to your friends and bad on the other hand- you feel it's should be louder if you want to dance, the prices went up significantly, but as always Impeccable service. The manager, Kate was super great, she made sure we were seated comfortably and had all we needed. And our waiter, Gina made our evening simply perfect, she was super sweet, super friendly, very fast in getting our drinks. It seems that music is always the weakest link in this perfect place. As I said it was super old, from last century))) from 1980-IRS, 90-IRS, 2000, and even 1970)). Strangely people were dancing . I went to DJ to ask for some music, he didn't put it on.
