I absolutely love this place! It's quite literally in a parking garage and such a cool vibe. My friends and I were able to come on a Saturday night as a walk in without having to wait for too long. Stopped in for the first time after over 7 years and I'm glad that we went at what seemed like a slower time - 5:30 PM. The vibe was both calming and electric, a perfect start to date night! This place is a cool hole in the wall bar in downtown Austin. The drinks are pricey but good. It is a very small bar with only about 5-2 top tables. Since it's in the middle of a parking garage, you can smell gasoline and hear the sounds of cars but that's kind of the point of this bar. Unexpected location and bespoke cocktails. Ok, I'm in! This swanky little bar was quite special. I had no idea what to expect. You are greeted by the doorman/bouncer??? We don't have reservations. I suggest that you do! We are luckily led in and I'm so glad! It's built into the corner of a parking garage. Inside is dark and candlelit. The shake shake of a well crafted cocktail is underway. The drinks are perfect. I'm sad to say I don't have the name of my drink. Pink peppercorns were involved! It was sublime. I went looking for the name but the menu changes often. My friend recommended this bar for a date, and it was a great recommendation. The bar is dimly lit with nice romantic vibes. It was so dimly lit that I had to put the menu close to the candlelight so I could read it. The outside of it looked sketchy, and we went the wrong way at first before we figured out where the entrance was. It is aptly located in a parking garage. I came here on a first date, so I didn't take pictures as I didn't want to make my date uncomfortable with my Yelp activities. We came here on a Monday night, so it was nearly empty. I heard that you need a reservation if you come on a busy night. I got the Rey Mysterio cocktail, which has plum wine. This drink was so light that I could barely taste any alcohol, and I am normally sensitive to it. It tasted sweet and I liked it, but it really wasn't strong enough at all to justify the price. My friend who recommended this bar to me said that she accidentally ordered a $30 cocktail when she came here. What a neat little speakeasy! I will give them props for finding us a seat without a reservation and the service was outstanding. As for the drinks, they were good, but not great. I have been plenty of these cocktail bars around the US (especially in Chicago). While the drinks were good, I had higher hopes. Also, the place is a little too dark so its very hard to read the menu or see anything (am I getting old???). Still, I would certainly come back here. It was a great place to grab a cocktail. I've been meaning to check out Garage since moving to Austin, and I'm glad I finally made time to do so! I went with my partner and his parents and we made a reservation in advance. We were seated immediately and the AC was blasting, thank goodness! Lights were a little dim, but other than it being hard to read the menu, it created a pretty nice vibe. I had no idea this place was a speakeasy, a friend just told me to check it out on a visit to Austin. When I arrived, I was pretty sure I had messed up and navigated to an actual parking garage. Then I realized there was a sign saying "COCKTAILS" where it would usually say "PARKING"... once you look into the garage, you easily see the neon sign and bouncer at the front. We came late on a Friday night (after midnight) and there was no wait or need for reservations. The lighting was dark, the service mediocre, and the drinks not bad. Garage is within an actual Garage, who doesn't love a good irony moment?! This fun cocktail bar falls along the lines of being a speakeasy bar in plain sight. My partner hadn't been to Garage and we decided to go on a whim. I will say, having a reservation is the best way to go as you'll have an actual table. We went as a walk-in and after a short wait, we were ushered into the "grazing area" lol. This area is around the bar and more of a first-come-first-serve with the few low tables and couches they have. We were lucky enough to grab a couch but I will say this feels more of an area for a one maybe two drink moment before you begin to have millennial guilt and seeing others stand waiting for a spot. We stayed for one drink and we both had a signature cocktail from their menu. They were super tasty and a 5-star moment. Fun speakeasy located in a parking lot. It was not too hard to find and I do wish it was a little more "hidden". It was also super dark in there but it fits the vibe of a speakeasy. We were able to make a reservation day of. They do charge you if you don't cancel within an hour though. The drinks were unique and yummy. I heard of Garage when I first moved to Austin and have passed it a few times while downtown. When waiting for another reservation, we decided to stop by Garage. It was super small and very dark inside. When walking up, there were people sitting out which I guess is a first-come, first-serve basis. It made for a very crowded door, in my opinion. When you get inside, the host stand is very small and overcrowded. The tables are close together and you're practically sitting on the group next to you. They do appear to have larger, booth like tables for bigger groups. The menu itself is very limited but the drink was good. I got the Hotel Nacional, which is white rum, apricot, pineapple, lime. I think they're better speakeasies in Austin where you can get a bigger bang for your buck. read more

I'm a big fan of unique bars so definitely wanted to give Garage a try. We came right when it opened and it wasn't that much of a crowd which was good because we had a pretty decent sized group and wanted to be sure we could hear one another clearly. I love great intentional use of space and Garage does just that. The seating is great, so you can meet people if you'd like but also are fine to stay to yourself. The lighting is good and matches the theme, and it's very clean - including the bathrooms which I always appreciate. The drinks were spot on. From the cocktails they recommend to the bartender absolutely nailing a Black Berry Bramble. It's been so hard to find someone that can do it properly even at really high end bars and I was blown away by the drink. For that reason alone I shall return. But overall just a really neat place perfect for happy hour or small gatherings. A true Austin Gem. read more

We were so happy that our friend knew about this place when we were visiting from out of town. I was very confused why we were walking into a parking garage, but what a fun speakeasy. There was a wait, but it was worthwhile because once we got in the service was immaculate, the vibes were right, and the cocktails were divinely delicious. (I'm normally a drinker, but I wasn't in the mood for a drink, because I had to drive home later, and I got the Mocktail that had Thai chili, turmeric, and carrots in it, and it was my favorite cocktail ever almost.) We were in standing room only until a group got up, and then we were able to steal their seats to hang for a bit longer. Definitely try and find this place and check it out! read more

Chill, upscale cocktail bar in an interesting location which is honestly a great use of space which obviously was not being utilized. Very easy to get to, literally just park in the parking garage and walk up the ramp. We did not have reservations but luckily only had to wait about 15 minutes to get in. It was interesting that for those who don't have reservations, they have a side area with a few small tables that you can sit at if they are open. If they aren't, you'll just be standing sipping your drinks. The menu is relatively simple with a few drinks going into kind of a combination of experimental and old school with some interesting flavor pairings. The bartenders seems quiet and unapproachable at first but upon talking to them, they were very quick to answer any questions and were quite warm. The drinks were pretty good, though as one other reviewer stated, one of my drinks, the Sherry Cobbler, was mostly ice, and about three sips. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.

The doorman of Garage is an extreme disappointment to this great venue. my girlfriend and I went there last night for a nightcap. we waited patiently outside. My girlfriend jokingly said she was going to go in and started walking toward the door, the little guard made a sarcastic rude quip to her. I snapped back for him not to talk to her that way, she was just having a good time and he kicked us out and flipped us off on the way out (as if there's no other alternatives in downtown). little dude needs to be trained on his manners to at least those of a 5 yr old level. his complex is hurting the reputation of a great bar. read more

The paintbrush is their signature drink and it is very good. The only downfall is that I find it to be acidic ... Yet I order it time after time. The boyfriend sticks with his old fashioned which he finds to be the perfect amount of bitters or rye whiskey. Or so he says atleast. We didn't get to sit near the conveyor belts, but we were ok with it because we were still able to enjoy the decor. Parking can get tight very quickly. We didn't have a reservation, but I think we were very lucky to get a table for 2.
