A definite number to call if you ever have a garage door problem. My wife had called me a couple weeks back while I was at work to let me know that she was unable to close the garage door. So once she had stated that to me I rushed home to see what the problem was, because we do live in Chicago and recently we have been having been having some crime happing with people stealing stuff. I found that the cable had wrapped itself around the garage door rod. So I unhook the door and rewrapped the cable. About a week in a half, same problem. So I did the same thing all over again. Was good for about two weeks. Just the other day while pulling into my garage seen the door closing off balance. Decided to look for a garage repair guy that would come out and see what it is he thinks. Went onto google, and Garage Doctor popped up. So decided to give him a call. He came out the same day that I called him. He took a look at the door and fixed the problem immediately. As well for he really takes the time to explain to you where you understand. Wasn't pushy on trying to sell me anything. Just straight forward and honest. And the price was acceptable. So for my recommendation, I'd say give this guy a call. I'm happy. I figured I'd go out of my way to commend this company for their professionalism on (2) two occasions within the last couple of weeks in where I commissioned their services. After all, it's not often that I run into issues with garage doors or garage door mechanisms at any of my residences. Service call (1) one: Lake County, Illinois 60030. The gentlemen who serviced my garage door "Dominick" was very insightful and efficient at determining why my garage door stopped opening and closing, and promptly repaired the garage door assembly unit in under an hour! The cost was reasonable, and even better, he told me he would honor a coupon that I could print on-line, even though I didn't know such a coupon even existed. I went inside and printed the coupon, and he accepted it just like that. Talk about honesty. Service call (2) two: Cook County, Illinois 60622. I requested Dominick, and was hoping this serviceman was available in the Chicago region. The operator put in a request, and sure enough, Dominick arrived on the same day I put in the service call. It's not like my garage door issue was an emergency or anything (it just jammed every once in a while when I tried to close it), but he arrived within a couple hours from when the call was made, simply replaced one of the sensors in the garage, and the mechanism was working smooth - like new in about (20) twenty minutes. Overall, I'd say even though I don't utilize garage door repair companies all that often - these guys were: pretty fast, reliable, and reasonably priced. Very unprofessional and we total got scammed, and we overpaid for the tiny job we had done. The guy gave me a different price on the phone. And when they arrived, they started the work, before verifying the price. And he pretended like his English was "not well." And the price for the job was totally expensive. We called the manager and he have us some money back.... But not enough, we got scammed! Do not use them!!!! Soooooo disappointed! I learned my lesson with this place! :( read more

These guys rock...Ali (the owner) might come off like he is stand offish...but they have serviced my garage well for several years now. I had an issue with my garage door and service guy came out and fixed the garage door as much as he could (the dent in the door) and got the garage door to open and close. They charged me $59.95 for the service call which I thought was more than fair...I tipped the service guy, I wanted to tip him at least $20 but all I had was $12 in my pocket, needless to say, he got the last $12 that was in my pocket. I was in roselle this morning on bloomingdale road and this psycho driver was speeding and cutting off cars. He wanted to pass me but was unable to so he got behind me and rode my tail. He was finally able to get around me and tore off doing about 60 in a 30 zone. I doubt he had an emergency call that would warrant such driving. If that's how he represents the company I will definitely go elsewhere if I need my garage fixed. read more

I am very unhappy with this company. I called today and spoke to Ali. He seemed helpful, and their rate was great, especially since they came out same day and gave a Yelp discount. However, now I know why they cost so much less to come out. I damaged the door slightly by backing into it today and knocked one of the bottom wheels out of alignment. The door moved up and down without a problem, but it wouldn't stay closed. When the tech came to my house my grandmother was here to meet him as we were at work. She was told that we could not use the door at all, and it would be 425.00 for a new panel for the door. She called my husband and he said to pay him his diagnostic fee and tell him he wanted to look at it first. When my husband asked for the tech to wait, he was 15 minutes from the house, the tech popped the wheel back in and left. However, the worst part was the tech DISCONNECTED the automatic door and left it that way. So, it was worse than when he came. Keep in mind this is a door with NO handle on it. When my husband got home it took him longer to figure out how to reconnect the power to the door than to fix the damage. So, if my husband was unable to fix it himself (with just a screwdriver) we would not be able to use the door at all. I am very upset and I feel that they use their lower arrival fee as a way to force people to do unneeded replacements so they can make more money. If you want a new door these guys might be good, I don't know. But, I'll never find out because I'll never call again. If you want an actual repair, please, pay the higher up front cost to a reputable company. At the end of the day, my husband fixed it in 15 minutes (including reconnecting, which he shouldn't have had to do) and we're out $60.00 just for fun. read more

Our garage door buckled and would not go down! My son found Garage Doctor and spoke with Mustapha about the problem. It was 4:30 in the afternoon and I didn't know what to do and couldn't leave my garage door open overnight! Mustapha came out within a 1/2 hour and explained that the door was 25 years old and needed replacement. He was able to stabilize the door and lock it overnight. He then replaced it the very next day! The door is up and works and matches perfectly!! Excellent service with a smile!!:) read more

Eh, these guys were ok. Can't complain about the work they did (one of the cables snapped and they came out the same day I called to fix it). But I did not have a good experience paying for the service. I had to specifically go and ask the guy how much the service would cost after he looked at the broken door and started working on it without me actually giving the OK to proceed with the work. I got the coupon that's offered through Yelp (and paid for it through Yelp), yet the service technician didn't know what to do with it. After he took my coupon, he had to call his office and get some clarification. Then after he left, someone else (the owner perhaps) called and asked me why I didn't pay for the full price of the repair, which I of course did. I paid for the coupon and that money went to Yelp, and it was up to the business to claim that money from Yelp (same way a Groupon deal would work), but the guy seemed confused by that. Then the same person (owner perhaps) said that they don't take Amex, even though the technician had no issues taking my credit card number, which he copied directly off the card that's clearly labeled "American Express." So I gave the person on the phone my Visa card number to charge for the repairs that were above the coupon value. A few weeks after this, both my Visa and Amex cards were hacked and I had to get replacement cards and account numbers. It's possible that this is a coincidence, but I never use the Visa (only in emergencies), so it leads me to believe that whoever tried to put unauthorized charges on my cards must have somehow received the numbers from Garage Doctor - the numbers were written on the order slip and not secured in any way. read more

When we called, got Mo on the phone and he was nice and helpful in reviewing the issues we had with our garage door. We called on a Wednesday and got an appointment on the next day. The nice gentlemen (didn't catch his name) who came to service the issue (spring broke and door wouldn't open) was super quick, professional and best of all, came when they said they would. Price quoted on the phone was the price we paid, so no surprises there that can sometimes happen. Overall great experience and would recommend. read more

We have used Garage Doctor before, so I called him today because I needed all my cars and remotes reprogrammed. I specifically asked him to come at night after my husband was home with his car. He came and did the job in 5 minutes and didn't want to charge us - we insisted because he came out of his way to help us, but I thought it was very nice that he didn't want to charge us! Garage door motor stopped working. Called them at 2:30pm, they had a guy out here by 6pm, same day, on a day that it was snowing. Within an hour the guy assessed the problem and replaced the motor. Great customer service, very responsive, great job, very happy. Hopefully I won't have a need to use them ever again, but if I do ever have an issue in the future, this will be my first call. So very impressed! My garage door opener gave out last night - terrible timing, just before a snowstorm! That would mean I couldn't get my car in the garage to protect it from the weather, nor could I get my snow blower out! I went online and found the Garage Doctor and called in the evening, thinking I'd be lucky if someone even picked up the phone. Long story short, not only did I get someone to talk to, but they sent out a team to install a new garage door opener first thing in the morning, accommodating my schedule so I could get to work on time!
