I called about a nonfunctioning door/remote.Tom Aguirre was there the next day and informed me that the mother board in my old opener was not working and could not be replaced due to its age.No charge for the initial assessment. He offered to install a new opener that I later purchased at Lowes. Installation time with final adjustments was about 90 minutes !! The price was very reasonable. Did Not Show Up I called the Garage Door Doctor on Monday. The man who answered (Mr. Garcia) was busy talking to someone else at the same time he answered his phone. There were loud voices in the background. He said to text him my address to another phone number. He said he could come to my house on Thursday at 4:00 PM. He was a no show. I called him at 4:30 and he said he was in Moriarity and couldn't come. He should have called to cancel. I was waiting for three days for my appointment. This treatment is unprofessional to hang up a customer for three days and then not show. I would avoid this company. It appears that Mr. Garcia cares less about causing inconvenience for customers. read more

Wow! Tom from Garage Door Doctor is like a Garage Door Whisperer. Our garage door was driving us crazy by bouncing back up when we are trying to leave the house. I tried all the YouTube tips to fix it, but none of them worked. We called a larger company and they sent a kid over, who instantly told us we needed a new circuit-board. It took them two visits, and it still didn't fix the problem. I called Garage Door Doctor and Tom came over, listened to the door and had it diagnosed in a way only an expert can. They sent someone out the next day to install a new motor since mine was old and not reliable and couldn't get it linked with my new car. I gave a three star rating because it was a better experience than another garage door company I had used five years ago. The problems with Door Doctor was the first motor would not work so they had to come back the next day, thank goodness I swept the garage after he left because I found two large screws which most likely would have punctured my new tires and finally I went out the next day and found he had put the cardboard from the new motor(s) into my recyclable container filling it to the top, I can only hope it won't be stuck when the truck picks up in a few days. If I am responsible for the haul away then I deserve a discount. read more

Nestor asked me to send him a picture and got back to me right away with not only what was wrong but knew the size and weight of my garage door. He quoted me a very reasonable rate (half of some other company and no fuel surcharge) and we set up a time for him to come over the very next day. I had a fantastic experience with the Garage Door Doctor today, and will be an exclusive customer of his when I need garage door service. We bought a home in Albuquerque 1 year ago and the home inspection pointed out broken torsion springs on the garage door, though there were extension springs which appeared to be shoddily installed and didn't even have a safety/retention cable installed through these springs. During the negotiation of the home purchase, we requested that the seller's have the torsion springs replaced. The sellers and their realtor called out a different garage door service to assess the situation. A rep came out, inspected the garage door assembly, and indicated to the sellers that because the extension springs appeared fine, no torsion springs were necessary. But they did quote $300 for installation of new torsion springs if that's the route the sellers wanted to go. When this information was conveyed to us, we decided to ask the sellers to fix a couple of different items, as we trusted that a company would actually be honest and give meaningful advice. Throughout the past year, probably about once a month one of the two extension spring cables would pop off of the shoddily-installed pulleys and I'd have to wrestle with it to get it back on. Today it happened again, so I decided to call Garage Door Doctor. He came out and said that he would not touch the existing extension spring setup because it was such an unsafe setup and was liable to cause serious injury at some point. The pulleys and the springs used on the setup were not intended for our garage door. They were rated for either a single garage door or a hollow double garage door (likely weighing about 60 pounds). Ours is an insulated, double garage door which weighs in the neighborhood of 200 pounds. The motor was having to push/pull this extra weight which the springs and pulleys were not designed to support, which also made the motor unit sound horrible every time it was used. I asked the Doc guy what he would charge to install new torsion springs, and his quote was just over half of what the other company tried to charge the previous homeowners. My garage door is now very nicely balanced to the point where I can disconnect it from the drive shaft and lift it up the tracks with one hand, stopping it at any point along the track. The noise from the motor is now less than half what it was before due to the new torsion springs actually supporting the load so the motor doesn't have to. These guys at this other company (won't name the company here) should be shut down for inspecting such an unsafe installation and giving it their stamp of approval. I am unsure if they are too incompetent to notice such safety issues or are just too sleazy to say/do the right thing. I'm grateful that I called the Doctor, as his ethics, character, and knowledge were incredibly impressive to me. I will be recommending him to everyone I talk to who is in need of garage door services. We need more business owners like him! read more
