I was informed of a price around $200-300 for single or both springs, plus labor (which many places would not provide unless I had them come out first). It seems like the price could vary depending on the garage door style, size, and weight. Also, another place had quoted me $485 right off the bat therefore this was the best option so far. They let me know that the technician would have all the necessary parts and tools for whatever option I go with (very convenient). Technician Sam called me to notify he was on the way and when he arrived outside. Upon arrival, he inspected our garage and said it would be more than quoted since I had a heavy door (~$400-500). He provided us with two different priced options, differing in expected lifespan and labor (~$100) warranties. The job was estimated to take around 30 mins, depending on if there was complications with the existing parts. Sam was very professional and knowledgeable with all the mechanics and components. He let us know more about what we had installed and what could potentially fail or cause us issues in the future. He also gave us recommendations on how to properly maintain the garage door to prolong it's functionality and life. After we made our choice, he began working right away. During this time, he came to get our attention and let us know that the bearings needed to be replaced soon and we just asked him to do them since it was already disassembled and the labor cost was flat rate. It all ended up taking closer to an hour, and despite the higher than anticipated expense... we felt very assured and satisfied with the outcome we received. The third door still worked so he squeezed in through that area and was able to replace the spring right when he was there. I called them because I needed a new remote and wanted a tune-up since it had been 5 years ago. I was having no issues with my door or old garage door opening other than not being very quiet. The experience this time was totally disappointing. First the van that pulled up was Smoky's Garage Door Service which the person told me was just bought out by Precision Door. Dave N. was the technician. He was on time and friendly but he pushed so many costly upsells even when I told him all I needed as a tuneup and a new remote since my wife had taken ours to Colorado accidently. He pushed (albeit in a friendly manner) an upsell of ~$2000. When I reiterated what I wanted today he proceeded to charge me $190 for lube and tuneup and then $180 for replacement of a single remote programmed. I told him I needed to get other quotes and found out that there a number of other companies with higher ratings with much cheaper costs for a tuneup (about 1/3-1/2 of the cost at Precision) and new remotes (1/2 the cost of Precision) I will not be recommending them to anyone else. So disappointing. I did send management a message today but did not hear anything back.
