We've had them for a…read morefew weeks now and still every time I pass through them, I applaud myself for having found FCR Fence & Deck and having had the wisdom to move forward with their company. From beginning to end the experience was great. I'd reached out to multiple companies, planning to take numerous bids, but amazingly found that few were unresponsive. FCR on the other hand was quick to respond to my inquiry on their website Contact page and were quick to set up the estimate appointment. The downside was I needed to wait two weeks. In the meantime I met the Project Manager from another company and was pleased with the experience, except that I never received a bid even though we texted several times. Rob Quinlan from FCR was similarly on time, but his amiability, professionalism, and communication, both in person and in subsequent texts, set him apart. He has excellent follow through, too, as our gates attest! He also really knows the ins and out of gates. When I said I wanted ours to be pushed open from the street side, Rob asked if we had a pool. It turns out that if one has a swimming pool, the gate legally has to swing out to the street. Rob explained that pulling a heavy gate is harder for little kids than pushing it, making it less likely they can access a backyard and drown! I was so impressed with Rob that I told him then and there that I wanted to move ahead with FCR. I received the quote and a contract later that day. It showed the options for the two different types of Redwood. Rob had explained that the photos one sees of beautiful fences are always made of the more expensive wood, from the heart of the tree. I had said that was the one I wanted, but it was still great to see options and prices laid out. I was able to sign the contract electronically. It was another two weeks before the actual installation, but the day of the work was fast and smooth. The crew and Rob arrived separately and on time. We all discussed every detail afresh, this time with Hector and Paco weighing in with their own expertise. There was some discussion among the men as to how and where to install the posts for the new double gate so that it would stay strong for the long term. I was consulted as well and made it clear that longevity and easy operation were paramount to me. I also mentioned that I was nervous about the possibility of there being a pipe to the house in that area, one that was private and therefore not marked by the utility companies. (Rob had done his company's legal duty of arranging the 8-1-1 Dig Ticket ahead of the work day). Rob took me seriously and walked out to the sidewalk, saw that there was indeed a drainage outlet there and told Hector to dig slowly and attentively. Rob left for the day and Hector and Paco got to work. Hector did find the water pipe about 12" down, right where the post was supposed to go. He had me come out and see the situation. He gave me two options: place the post over the pipe, in which case it would lack endurance for the long term, or go two feet down in the hole he had already dug closer to the house. I opted for the deep hole and the reliable fence. I was glad to have been consulted. I was grateful for Hector's having found the pipe without damaging it. Both gates and the small fence surrounding them were completed between 8am and 3pm. The areas were all cleaned up. Hector had me come out and assess the work. The gates have easy and sturdy hardware on them. They open and close with ease, swinging into the backyard as specified. They're attractive, substantial, and show every sign of enduring. I knew from the good communication that I could simply hand the check to Hector. Rob was going to come by to make sure I was happy but I said I was exceedingly pleased and insisted he didn't need to. He followed up with a text nevertheless to double check and I gave him a glowing, detailed review. Later that day I received an invoice showing I had paid. I couldn't be any happier than to have trusted this work to FCR Fence & Deck.

We get strong winds that can blow a weave or a wig off a person's head, and it is hotter then hot in the summers reaching past 100 degrees, and when it rains, its nice to smell the rain and see it coming down. Now it is July 2026, and the fencing is 26 years and 2 months old. You can't tell me (as I will attach photos, that this fencing didn't need to be done.....because it did. We had gotten a bid from a neighbor who lived down and around the corner from us, as his father owns a fencing company. We had asked him and his gf to provide us a quote a LONG while back and that quote was pratically another TRUCK payment and then some. So we held off. Then one windy day, on 12/14/2024, the wind blew our fence over and the shared property line fence over. The tenant living next door in the little shack named Pablo, came to help us put the fencing back up. He even knew and said it was just a temporary fix until the next wind came. Since then the fence has fallen over 3 more times to 2026. Then on yet another windy day, my tarp flew over the fence into my neighbor's backyard - but this neighbor's home lives in Steven S. Stroud, and so my husband and I walked over to that neighbor's house to see about getting my tarp back from her backyard. We knocked and no one was home. So we left her a note introducing ourselves and when she got come from she messaged us and we went over to go grab it. She had my husband get the tarp because her backyard slants up and she wasn't about to climb the steep hill. So while standing there and Johnny's retrieving the tarp, I had asked her did she use to do her fencing. She too, told me about the neighbor who's dad owns the fencing company, and she also said that when she asked him for a quote, his quote he gave her was INSANE! So with some research, she then found A&J Fencing. This is where I called them and asked for a quote. Scott Knolbloch came and gave me a quote. Because I share property line with two other neighbors, he informed me about the 30-Day Good Neighbor Law. Later that night, I got the quote from Scott regarding the fencing that was much needed which was 26 years old, falling over 4 times, due to rotted and deteriorating wood, with nails, screws and staples protruding through onto my side from the neighbors side where they tried to repair the fencing themselves. The quote was sooooo reasonable, I had to relook at it twice!! Nutshell, we ended up proceeding with the quote provided from Scott with A&J Fencing. We were able to get both neighbors onboard with paying their half of the fencing after provided and sending out Certified 30-Day Good Neighbor Law Letter. We are soooo pleased with the work. Rigo and his crew showed up at 8am on Thursday, July 16, 2026. Knocked on my door and I gave the OK to begin. They immediately started unloading the needed and necessary tools, and man o man.....they made taking down the fence soooo easy!!! Next came the digging and before I knew it -- the posts were being put up.....followed by the redwood wood panels. The fencing was done in 5 hours! (They took a lunch break too!). Overall..... A HUGE SHOUT OUT for coming to my property and providing me an AMAZING AND REASONABLE QUOTE...... A HUGE SHOUT OUT to Rigo and his crew for tearing down and putting up my fencing, my double iron gate and my single gate. Yall ROCK!! A HUGE SHOUT OUT to Vanessa who I wrote my check too. She was soooo professional and sweet! A HUGE SHOUT OUT to Andrea, to hearing me rant about other stuff (she knows ;) ) and helping me with keeping me aboard on all neighbors following though with their halves of payment! Scott came out quickly to understand the project and our needs and provided us with a competitive quote. Our project was a hogwire fence around the parameter of our front yard, which included a gate that bridge the gap between the new fence and the side of our house. He quoted me the same day he came out, and once the quote was signed, he had his team out here within a week. The workers were prompt, professional, friendly, and worked fast. They finished in half a day and cleaned up afterwards, which was nice. The final result was fantastic, much better than I imagined, and all of our neighbors came out to compliment us on the fence. The entire 24-foot fence project took just over four hours. We had received another quote from a handyman that was significantly higher and did not include a warranty. G & G Deck & Fence's pricing was very reasonable, and the fact that their work is backed by a warranty gave us added confidence. During removal of a fence post, their crew broke multiple patio pavers, displaced perimeter bricks, and exposed concrete footing. This patio was professionally installed and represented a significant investment. Photographic and video evidence of the damage has been preserved. The on-site supervisor stated there was "no way" to remove the post without causing damage. That statement is inaccurate. This is the second time fencing has been replaced at this property, and prior licensed contractors performed the same work without damaging the finished patio surface. Since the incident, I have: * Contacted the project supervisor multiple times * Left voicemail messages * Contacted the office directly * Attempted to reach ownership No response has been provided. As a licensed California contractor performing work within an HOA community, California Fences is responsible for property damage caused during the course of work. I have formally requested their General Liability insurance information and written confirmation of repair. I prefer resolution over escalation. However, continued non-response will leave me no option but to proceed through formal channels including CSLB complaint and civil recovery. I am requesting immediate contact to resolve this matter professionally.

The new install prioritizes one long run and drops a post mid-span to branch off for the neighbors. It's not as clean or considered, and you can tell. To be clear, if they had simply followed the original footprint, this would have been a perfectly acceptable fence. It's sturdy. But the materials are budget and there's no craft to it, so getting the design wrong makes an already basic fence that much harder to fix. Communication was poor throughout: no response when we confirmed our availability, then two guys showed up unannounced on a day our neighbor's dog was in the backyard. There was also a 10-foot measurement error in the quote. We hired a company instead of DIY-ing because we wanted something thoughtful and neighbor-considerate. This felt like they just got the fence up and moved on, and we're the ones living with the result for the next decade.

Garage Door Pros is THE only garage door company that I will use from now on. After receiving no call backs and/or no shows from other garage door companies, I am so thankful that I found Garage Door Pros instead! It was almost a blessing in disguise that the other companies never called me back because if they have had, I would have never found Garage Door Pros. Bar, the owner/technician of Garage Door Pros is honest, courteous and extremely knowledgable. In addition, he is fully licensed, bonded and insured. Anyways, I called Garage Door Pros on a Saturday to get a quote on replacing a very old wooden garage door (manually open) and installing a garage door opener as well. Turned out, Bar was on his day off, but was in the area, so he said he could come take a look and give me a quote! What a guy, giving me a quote on his day off!! He gave me a couple of brochures to choose what style and material of garage door I would like as well. A couple of weeks later, Bar came and installed a brand new garage door as well as a brand new garage door opener. You could tell he really takes pride in his work and is very meticulous and does a quality job! The brand new garage door looks great and the opener is smooth. In addition, Garage Door Pros uses LiftMaster garage door openers which are the best and are a contractor brand (not a Home Depot/Lowes product). Bar and Garage Door Pros is definitely your go to garage door company. He is prompt on calling you back, something that other companies have trouble doing. Garage Door Pros were indeed extremely professional, responsive, reliable, and friendly during my recent steel garage door and opener installation experience with them. From the first phone call, Michelle was helpful and informative, when other garage door companies in the San Ramon Valley area would not even answer my phone calls! Michelle scheduled an estimate visit by Patrick, who arrived on time as arranged (another surprise), and the company quickly scheduled an appointment for the installation. Michelle was very nice about rescheduling my installation due to some conflicts, and that was much appreciated. Patrick also executed the installation very skillfully, making sure that the doors opened and closed smoothly, explaining the features of the opener, and he even recycled one of my heavy wooden doors into something useful! During the installation, 'the boss' came by to deliver the opener, and checked on the progress. Patrick hauled away the old doors and left the site very tidy. The whole process was actually pleasant and efficient; the doors look great and function well. I'd definitely recommend them, and would use them again if I had any more garage door needs. Although the mood was not good when I began my search for a garage door repairman, I eventually stumbled upon a coupon that just happened to come in the mail the day I needed it. I called on Wednesday night to schedule a repair, hoping to get someone within a week and was greeted by a very friendly female on the phone that seemed to know exactly what the problem was just by my description. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. She was able to schedule a service call for the very next morning. How's THAT for luck?!? The next morning, right on schedule, Michael arrived. He was very professional and knowledgeable about the type of garage door motor I had...since it is very common in homes like mine. He explained I could fix it (stripped plastic gears) and hope nothing else goes wrong for a while or just replace the entire unit and have a 5 year warranty. I chose to replace it. He happened to have the right sized motor in his work truck and immediately began to work. 30 minutes later, I had a new system up and running. I would definitely turn to Garage Door Pros and more specifically to Michael in the future when my OTHER garage door motor decides to give out. Good work! read more

I sent 3 Yelp requests for a quote and a question do you have a free service. Garage Door Pros was the first to reply and the only company to offer a free service call with repair. Bar the owner called and he was extremely courteous and professional. He asked if I wanted same day service (I called at 2pm) I said yes please! He said no problem and would make it work. He gave me 3 hours windows and say the technician will call 30 min before arriving This how need fo business today !! I received a call 30 minutes before the service tech arrived that was nice. Anyway the technician arrived he was professionally dressed, friendly and was very cordial. Took him10 seconds To diagnose the problem and let ne know that my Spring is broken. He offered me few optsions for repair one of them is with Lifetime Warranty + 1 Year Labor ! The price is competitive and worth every penny. We recently hired Garage Door Pros & Automatic Gates for a fence and driveway gate installation in Walnut Creek, and the experience was excellent. They installed about 180 linear feet of an 8' privacy fence with a metal frame and redwood boards, along with a large dual swing driveway gate (24' opening) built with a steel frame and redwood to match the fence. The team also installed strong support posts set in concrete and made sure the gate alignment, hardware, and overall installation were done properly. Everything looks beautiful and works smoothly. Bar, the owner, was great to work with -- friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable. He scheduled a proper appointment to review the project in person, made sure everything was clearly understood, and provided detailed drawings and layout for the fence and gate installation, which made the whole process very smooth. My experience with the Owner and manager was the worst i had ever experienced. He quoted me for a job, had me pay 60% up front and after 3 weeks of waiting for the order to arrive, and mee needing to call and email for weeks finally i got a call back of him saying that the order was never placed and that the only parts available are $4,700 MORE THAN THE ACTUAL ORDER. His words "do you want to do it or not? You already paid, might as well, it's a better one" Never have i been scammed in this way. This is the worst bait and switch i had ever experienced. I had no option of getting my refund because i "signed a contract" although he changed it last minute. I called rhe manager and that was even WORST. No care for customers. They pride in the Yelp reviews but idk if i was just the one unlucky duck that got this horrible experience and i even asked them if it's legal what they are doing and was told "sue us". I feel bad even writing this but i have to warn other people because these ratings are misleading. We had a great experience with Garage Door Pros and everyone we worked with. Communication was great and the end result was just what we expected. Having a 60+yr old home in the Oakland hills, needless to say, the house comes with all sorts of challenges whenever we update/remodel something- and of course the garage door was no different. The team went above and beyond to make sure we got the best results despite these hiccups. They even had their installer come out and look at our old door and garage to see what our options were for install. Garage Door Pros deserve more than the 5 star option. I called Bar and explained exactly which door I was interested in installing. My husband had a very specific door in mind so we wanted a company with great success as well as high ratings. Bar came by (only company we called who offered a FREE quote) he inspected our old wooden garage door and sat down with my husband and I for nearly 3 hours explaining the differences in material such as insulation, glass, and motor since we had a lot of questions. The service from the beginning to the end was outstanding. The installation went smooth. We decided to go with a Liftmaster wall mount unit since it is small and quiet and we LOVE it! Upon installation Bar programmed the MyQ system to both my husbands and my smart phone and we can now make sure the garage is fully closed through the MyQ app. Thank you Garage Door Pros for making this experience for us an AMAZING one. Besides being a great person, Bar has to be the best damn garage repairman in the Bay Area. We've use a regular garage repairman for the numerous repairs needed, for the multiple properties we managed, but with age, our friend not able to do the work anymore. So I searched the web. and found Bar, which has been great. We used him in an emergency and now he is called for the multiple properties we manage with garage doors, for basic maintenance or repairs to replacement of springs, motors or new doors. One great quality he has, is that he will do everything possible to make it the same day you call, but if not, he will be there the next day on time and the work when done, is done right. The Tenants are grateful and so are the Owners. You know that one time your lucky to find someone to work or do repairs and actually knows what the hell they're doing? I went to close my garage door and didn't notice there was a broom leaning against one side of the tracks. It went off the rails and the cable unraveled from the pulley, leaving the door half-closed at a precarious angle. I looked at some repair videos on YouTube and realized the job was way over my head. It was 5 pm and I was panicked! I saw that Garage Door Pros got good reviews on Yelp, so I called them. The owner answered and said he'd send a technician out. Within a couple of hours Micheal arrived. After assessing the problem, Micheal explained to me in detail what was wrong and what could be done to fix it. He spent a couple of hours rewinding the cables, straightening the bent rails, and balancing and lubricating everything--without trying to sell me any parts or services I didn't need. I got a reference from Two Brothers vent cleaner to call Garage Door pros. Was having trouble with other door repair companies keeping their appointment or respond back in time. Garage door pros was very good in responding promptly. Spoke to Bar and and he was able to get appointment on same day sunday which was very helpful. Josh from the Garage Door showed up as scheduled, he called 30 mins before and was very professional in taking care of replacing bad springs with life time warranty springs at a reasonable price. He found some other issue too - 2 of the hinges cracking up and promptly replaced with a little additional cost. I needed a new garage door opener installed during a home remodel because the old one quit working. Bar quickly dismantled the old unit and put up the new one. He even showed me how the old garage door was in an unbalanced position and he adjusted that. I asked him to come back later to make some final adjustments and to put up the wall remote and external wall remote because the drywall in the garage and stucco outside was not in place when he came in initially. When I called him 2.5 months later after the remodel was complete, he stopped by cheerfully and completed the task at no additional charge. Total waited over 3 1/2 hours for the Tech to show up.... Never called or gave an update of when he would arrive. Ended up calling their office to find out where the Tech was. Work took only 15 minutes... Took 20+ minutes to negotiate the price... I did not receive the website coupon discount. I asked the Tech and he said it was included... I later checked the Billing and did not see the coupon listed on the bill. When the work is quoted, asked to have the coupon deducted from the bill after the quote. The coupon should not be blended into the quote... If they will not deduct a coupon amount, then they are running a scam... (I am only guessing... Maybe the Tech gets anything over a set price?, so he if he quotes high, then discounts back, it looks good to the customer. For example, if the Tech quotes $500, and if the "list price" is $300, then if the Tech then "gives" you $100 discount, the Tech could makes a "extra" $100 commission. Again, I am not sure, but the pricing is very fishy. Beware! ) Again, I would get a written quote and then compare other companies... My repair should have cost no more than $500, they got $700 from me.... I can see how some poor "grandma" would pay over $1500, when she is pressured to make the repairs... Beware

Honestly, the whole appointment was really confusing for me. I'm not sure if it just depends on the technician, but I didn't get that "free quote/estimate" as advertised on Gil's website. I felt like there was a lot of upselling initially, such as pressure to get entirely new cables, rollers, and springs when my initial concern was the gap between the door and floor (potential rodent entry). When I questioned if this was really necessary and that I wasn't interested in pursuing any of those services same day, the technician made comments such as "when it breaks let me know" which was unsettling. Later he did say that I could reuse the rollers and cables I already had to save money which changed the tone of things. He also kept asking personal questions which was uncomfortable. At the end of the appointment, I was slapped with a $721 bill - for what??? Note, if you want to avoid the 3% charge, they recommend paying via Zelle or Venmo (they did refund me the $21 (3%)) since I paid via Zelle. Initially the technician just asked me to Zelle/Venmo him (I didn't even know the amount yet!), but I refused without seeing some kind of invoice first which I did receive in the customer portal minutes later and did pay. Anyways, after the technician had left, I called back to ask for clarification on the services with the price breakdown (learned that it was $175 each for panel repair, motor limit adjustment, springs retention, door rebalanced). I contacted the company again to seek clarification on the services such as whether or not there's standard pricing or if written contracts are typically utilized. I wish there was more explanation on the services. I guess the technician/company could tell I was confused about the situation and at least offered to rectify the situation a few days later which they did. They wanted to emphasize customer satisfaction which I do appreciate. I think the overall experience would've been much more pleasant if everything was in writing and there was actually a (no-pressure) free estimate as advertised. Overall, I don't think Gil's Garage Door & Gate Services has any ill intent and they do value customer satisfaction. Maybe it just depends on the technician. Also recommend buddying up with someone during the appointment to avoid being asked personal questions or reduce possible upselling. Our old opener was from 2002 and the gears broke off the belt so the door would not open. Avi came and identified the issue - while we could just replace the belt, the unit was old so we decided to replace the whole thing. At the same time, Avi identified the springs were not installed correctly (too many turns or something) which causes the door to drop / fly up when the latch was not on. He offered to replace the springs too. I just replaced the spring with another company last year so I was surprised to learn they were not installed correctly. We were able to reach a bundled price for replacing the opener and the springs. which seems comparable with other companies. I would use this company's services again.
