But they took care of several things on my car and even found, on the computer that one of the problems was still covered by insurance! Imagine my surprise that I was not charged for it! This time it was new tires and new brakes. I should have went with my gut and ran. Hopefully I save someone else from buying a nice vehicle but with thousands in repairs needed. My Dad took the car in for an oil change and of course, they found some other things that were in need of repair before our warranty expired. The service was Good and they had to keep the vehicle overnight. Now I am not sure if they offered him a courtesy car or not but definitely should have if they didn't. All the staff that we encountered were knowledgeable, helpful and friendly; which is Always a Plus in my book. I asked if they had washed the car and the young lady who checked us out informed us that they No Longer offer that service. My husband is a mechanic. He has been ASE certified, went to school for it and everything, we run a small shop from home. We have done all work on our 2018 Equinox (it has 152k miles on it) that we bought from Garber in 2018. In June our transmission blew while on vacation, we came home, and we replaced that ourselves. The transmission we put in worked great. We had a small exhaust spot that needed to be repaired but wasn't an issue just made her a little loud and there was a little tick that we knew was the flywheel but again not causing any issues. I want to point out OUR CAR WAS RUNNING AND OPERATING COMPLETLY FINE BEFORE WE TOOK IT TO GARBER. We use it for delivery routes and all of our daily driving and was working fine. We took it to Garber for service August 5th because we noticed our timing was starting to slip and wanted to get it taken care of before it broke. We had already bought all of the parts required from Garbers parts department. She's a great car and was running like a champ before we took it in. We were just getting the timing done because we didn't want to get rid of her. Getting the timing chain replaced is a job that a "master technician" should be able to do. They originally told us they would have our car for a day; they had it for two. On August 7th, we picked up the car and the engine immediately started missing and the engine light came on. We didn't even make it down Indianapolis to Ridge Road before it was undriveable with zero acceleration. We returned the car immediately to the service manager we were dealing with. There was no engine light on when we brought the car in. There were no major issues on the car that would have prevented us from driving it. Hell, we drove it to the lot for service when we dropped it off. When we dropped it off the 2nd time it was 4pm and we were told we would hear back from them that night after the "master technician" looked at it, at 6:30 pm that night we still hadn't heard anything. We asked about a courtesy vehicle and were told they were all out. So we had to pay for a rental car. We finally heard back from the service manager on August 8th at 7:50 am. And he proceeded to argue with us and blamed us for the problems. He said that the engine light was the knock sensor and that was being caused by the flywheel, which is impossible as seeing that the flywheel was ticking since June and didn't cause a single problem before they touched it. The knock code can however be caused by the timing chain not being properly done. A tight-feeling engine, limited acceleration and a knock sensor code after a timing chain replacement means there is improper timing alignment. If the timing chain wasn't done perfectly, the camshaft or crankshaft timing marks misaligned, it can lead to incorrect valve timing. When we brought this up to the general manager, he proceeded to tell us we were just reading misinformation on the internet. We were reading from the all-data program, not just random stuff on the internet. We were charged $2,739.56 for the work Garber did which included a charge for oil and for parts we already supplied them with. We went to the office and had a meeting with the "master technician", his service manager and the general manager. When we asked about this specific charge the service manager told us that it was a normal part of doing the timing chain, to drain the oil and that's why we were charged for oil. We asked the "master technician" when the service manager left the room if that was a true statement and he said no. His exact answer was "no, I dropped a gasket and had to drain it to get it out." They also flashed our computer since the transmission wasn't our original one to make it match the rest of the vehicle. They never once asked us if we wanted this and we never asked for this. It is generally unrecommended to do so, because it can cause problems with your car. They kept insisting it was the knock sensor and were desperate to change that. They also argued with us that we purposely cleared any codes we had before we brought the car in so we could pull one over on them. Which is not what happened. We literally unhooked the battery because we were going to do the timing ourselves and realized we needed a specific tool for the fuel injectors removal and hooked it back up since we figured the tool cost as much as we were quoted from Garber to do the job which was $1,600. The tool itself was maybe $200 less than that. We were thinking we would say ourselves time by letting the dealership do it since they already have the tool and it was going to cost about the same. The service manager belittled and was condescending to everyone in the room the entire time. He said, "my "master technician" is a better mechanic then you will ever be he went to GM school 10 years ago." They not once ever test drove the vehicle before they started working on it. Took 5 weeks to diagnose my problem, then 2 weeks more to fix it. Made it a complete hassle to contact them to receive updates & was forced to go thru GM to get them to actually look at my vehicle. People in the service department are not polite and they don't really cater to trying to help the customer. Not very friendly. Then they pull out a Courtesy Vehicle that has 4,000 miles on it, trying to sell it to you like new. Beware when purchasing a car. In order to make a profit, the buyer is forced to purchase a warranty on the interior of the car. Be prepared for the dealership to tack on an additional $2000 to the sticker price of your car. They claim they have already installed the product (???) and they have to charge you. I questioned why it was not already included on the sticker. One of Manager Gods came down to give me a spill about how there was a disclaimer that said they can add additional costs. We spent the majority of our time negotiating about this policy. They eventually agreed on a decrease of the amount and a negative yelp review. Hope I did not disappoint. read more

They held up absolutely none of their end of warranties that they push on you as "great deals" then turn around and say your warranty is not available anytime you want to use it. There salesman sent me 20 messages, confirming the purchase of my vehicle along with a set price, not before jumping through hoops for two days. Then at the end of the process after I was completely annoyed the manager didn't like that I was unhappy about having to drive my truck all over town so they may veiw it. I've bought three new cars and two used from Christenson Chevrolet we always worked with Jeff and had great experience unfortunately he is no longer there but wanted to go back when my wife needed a new car. She was interested in the Malibu. The sales staff was horrible, I checked the internet and found realistic price I'm not crazy they have to keep the lights on and pay the bills so I was willing to pay a fair price. Went in for an oil change, they over filled my oil and I had oil all over my engine a 2019 Chey Equinox only 5000 miles. Ok they made a big mistake but it's how you fix the mistakes that you make that counts They made it right. They cleaned my engine thoroughly, no more smell. I had recently been having some issues with my traction control light coming on and going off. I took it to several dealerships in NYC and every place said the car was fine. I was finally able to bring my car back to Indiana and of course brought it to Christenson Chevrolet. Working with Anthony, and the amazing technicians they found the problem. I wasn't going to come back here from when I got my last oil change. I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Like being busy, things like that. I also get full synthetic oil change like mobile one. I had them change a cabin filter last time. It took about two hours for just this. Even with a 24 point inspection, it shouldn't take two Hours. I knew it was going to cost more because it's the dealership. I went back against my first mind, because l have a stupid recall on the ignition switch. So l need another oil change and thought two birds one stone. Well damn here we go again waiting two hours for an oil change and a 24 point inspection. I didn't even do the recall because l thought I would get a new FOB out of it but no. The"service advisor" told me the full synthetic oil change with mobile one like$89.95. Didn't say labor was going to be charged and give for an oil change. I get the bill after waiting two hours and pay$139.10 (used a $10 off coupon) for a damn lousy oil change!!!!! No more Christenson for nothing. Duke of oil from now on! I would of been out within 30 min. & l would have spent only about $70. Same damn lousy oil change and better service. If i could give 0 stars i would... I purchased a 2014 gmc sierra with about 90k miles on it about 6 months ago from this dealership. Not even 30 days later i notice a heater core issue ( due to the coolant build up on my windshield, that I have to wipe off every 2 days to see) and the trans is slipping at slow speeds. I bring it in to be serviced because I pay for the 3 year warranty. They tell me there is no issue with either.... I took it to an asu certified mechanic to verify the two issues, which he did.... I ended up having to replace the heater core on my own and deal with the trans. Garber also charged me $100 to tell me there were no issues, and they were very rude about it. After I replaced the heater core I noticed there was a water build up on the windshield still and water filling in my floor board. Found out the ac drain was pinched back into the firewall and draining all the water into my floor board. Of course garber didn't pay attention to this when they sold me the truck and I had to literally take everything out in order to dry the floor after I fixed the issue. I'm typically not a complainer but there's no way I should have to spend this much of my time and money on a $32k vehicle that I bought a couple months prior with a warrany.... this dealership will deny every issue with a vehicle and try to charge you through the roof whether they fix it or not. On a side note, I had an alignment scheduled last night for my truck at 4:30pm, they didn't finish it until after 7pm... I will never give this joke of a dealership a penny of my hard earned money and or time ever again. read more

What is the point in making an appointment when you still have to wait three hours. There excuse is they're backed up, but they knew for over a week, my car would be there at a specific time. I was disappointed this time - I have been taking my 2010 Camaro to this dealership since 2011 and for some reason this time when I got there they scanned my VIN number and told me that I did not exist in the computer system. Impossible - I have receipts for all the work that has done (oil changes, front end alignments, electrical problem, battery change, a switch that went bad behind the radio and caused the lights to go out and so on). But they insist that this car has not been in - well then I want to know who kept it for 4 days in 2014 when you had to take my dash apart to change the switch behind the radio and did the extra work that I paid your dealership for?? read more

If I could give a negative star review, I would! DO NOT go here for service on your car unless you still have bumper to bumper warranty. They charge $100 for diagnostics that you could easily go to auto zone for and get for free. Their customer service is horrible! They wanted to charge over $200 alone just to replace spark plugs. Spark plugs which cost $10 each and less than an hour to replace. They also insisted that I have maintenence work done that had nothing to do with the problems I was experiencing. So I made an appt for a test drive for the next day - They called and cancelled it that morning because the car went out as a loaner - finally got to see the car 2 days later and we started all the paperwork - while filling out the forms they tell me about this paint and fabric warranty that I HAVE to pay 1700.00 dollars for even tho I didn't want it! I end up buying the car left it there overnight for detailing and oil change when I picked it up the next morning there were 2 dents in the "A PILLAR", they said not there problem it's my car now - as far as the detailing swirl marks all over the glass and trim paste in the seems just a complete horrible job - a 1armed blind person could have done better!!! My father in law had the same type of exp there as well, wish I would have known that before hand.
