I recently had a car purchase that did not turn out way Gary or I wished it to. Things happen and Gary and I discussed this before he left for vacation. They are in the process of buying it back but that has been a very uncomfortable feeling. They have my keys, they have the truck, they asked me to not cancel insurance. I do not have any receipts from them, they Have over $9,000 deposit. They did call my insurance at my request and my insurance to let them know they are in the process of paying it off, and once they have title I will be refunded all my investment. I just wish they gave that in writing. I do trust them but again, I feel it is not professional to not supply me with some kind of paperwork but I know they took have to protect themselves. They said to go cancel my plates but I can not even do that without proof from them I no longer own vehicle. They needed to tell me wait to do that too. All other dealers if a car has been turned in cause of excess mechanical issues or change of mind have always provided paperwork stating they took posession of car . I have never heard of me having to keep the insurance until they have title when they have the car not me. I know if Gary were in town this would be handled in a bit more respectful calm caring way with a better paper trail for all , not just for them. It is clear they do not want me back as a customer, is how I being made to feel at this time. I still believe they have good cars and they do their best to check them out. I know they put much into them to have them safe on the road. Cars can have issues. and they were great to respect that fact with this one after many attempts to make it right. I wish I could just give a neutral status and truly that is what it is until I have all my money back. This is a simple paperwork hell and I think it is new for all of us... so just be sure you have any car you purchase from any where checked out. Gary's team is great but these cars these days are computers, so even the greatest of techs can not predict what unfolded with this one. The crazy glitches with this one may or may not have been found out. They do rock for the fact they are purchasing it back and making me whole again. I just can not give the 5 stars I orginally did cause there has just been a bit of unease in this paperwork trail and waited return of my money. And again, they made a huge exception so I am sure it is just protocol to protect all. I have Much gratitude for them. Much more peace will be when I have the large investment back. Just sad I am made to feel they do not want me back. :( .. And it may just be till this mess is cleared up and maybe my expections or hopes are truly too high for the price range my budget is. Still give them a chance cause they do have integrity... just need to work on paperwork trail and communication a bit on these unique issues. But we are all learning thru it together, It is a lesson for us all. And they are doing well considering. I am just sad it did not work out cause it is a very beautiful truck. Gary and his team strive to get the best for the price range. Hope my honest reviews help you choose the best dealership to help you find the best car. Gary's group may still be it for you. I hope so cause inspite this paperwork hell and delay they still rock. In great gratitude they are of integrity!

From the first call to the sales department, every step of the way, our leasing of our new car was organized, prompt, extremely service-oriented, kind, fun, and oddly relaxing. Joe LeDuc, a sales rep, made the entire experience a joy. For the rest of my life, I never want to buy/lease a vehicle from anyone else.

Let me first say that we have now purchased five Volkswagens from various Chicago-area dealerships,…read moreso we are very familiar with the brand and the typical dealership experience. Unfortunately, our experience with City VW of Highland was by far the most disappointing. When purchasing a certified pre-owned vehicle, customers expect the dealership to conduct a thorough multi-point inspection, often covering well over 100 items. Based on our experience, I seriously question how thorough that inspection was. Within 10-15 minutes of driving the vehicle off the lot, the oil warning light came on. After getting the car home, I noticed streaking on the passenger side of the windshield and discovered the windshield wiper was held together with electrical tape. We also found stickers on the vehicle's interior ceiling. When closing the passenger door, I heard a rattling noise and later found beer caps and an air freshener can wedged inside the storage compartment. Altogether, these issues added to the impression that the car had not been properly cleaned, inspected, or prepared before delivery. Individually, these issues may seem minor, but together they raise serious concerns about the quality of the dealership's inspection and preparation process. If these obvious problems were missed, it makes me wonder what else may have been overlooked. Normally, the oil warning light would have prompted us to return to the dealership immediately. However, after already spending more than five hours there during the purchase process (on Monday of Memorial Day weekend, not a high-volume day at the dealership) --with little to no hospitality from the dealership beyond access to a vending machine fulled with junk food--we had absolutely no desire to go back. Overall, this experience fell well below the standard we've come to expect from Volkswagen dealerships. The entire process was so frustrating and disappointing that it honestly makes us hesitant to purchase another vehicle anytime soon.

I won't return unless they make it right...Read on. DETAILS: I purchased a used car from this establishment for my daughter. I drove a long way after finding the car I thought I wanted online. It was reasonably priced with low miles compared to others I found. Due to the distance, I tried to get as much information as I could prior to making the drive. This should have been my first clue as communication was difficult, even for me a potential customer. When I was finally able to get a hold of someone, the conversations felt like I was a burden and they were always brief. I finally pulled enough information from them to feel somewhat comfortable about it. He said that they test drive them, put them up on a hoist and fix anything they find wrong with them. This particular car received new brakes and tires I was told. In the price point we were in, I did expect some if not many cosmetic issues due to the relatively low miles. We finally agreed to a price on the phone, so I drove down about 2 hours with my wife and daughter to seal the deal. We arrived took it for a test drive and noted that there was a definite shifting issue. I tossed the keys on the desk and said I can't take this car it has a bad transmission. The salesman went into spin mode to assure us it had been sitting and should be fine and sent us for a second test drive with his associate. It didn't seem to have quite as much issue on this drive. Considering the long drive and the lack of other prospects for this make and model I didn't want to go home empty handed, so I relented and agreed to purchase it. Well, after driving it off the lot the shifting problems returned as if by magic. It was a champ on the highway. Nice ride once it got past the bad shifts. So, we kept driving. But, it was obvious there was a transmission issue that was not self-correcting. We brought the car into two transmission shops that week and both places indicated the transmission needed to be repaired or replaced. I called the dealer back to let him know. At first, he seemed like he was actually going to be helpful. He talked to 'his' transmission guy and promised he would help us with the repair. Again, the communication was difficult, but had a lengthy conversation about 3 weeks after the purchase about an action plan. He later said he would send a check to help pay for the repair. It wouldn't be enough to cover it, but to me it was sufficient to put the issue to rest. Well, it has been over a month since he promised the check. So, I assume he was lying to me all the time and just stringing me along. If they come through, I will amend this review. But, I am not going to hold my breath. So, I would be VERY careful buying from these guys. In fact, I would avoid them all together, unless they have something you just can't find anywhere else. And absolutely be ready to bring the car to a mechanic to look it over first. This dealership is an example of why you should take the car to a mechanic before purchase. I do not believe these guys will disclose all the issues. You will have to find them for yourselves. And you will have to repair them yourself.
