Having had tacos in Austin, Phoenix, San Diego, NYC, Miami, and San Francisco, I have a fairly high bar for "really good tacos". Garbo's Grill tastes like a better Taco Bell. The key problem is that the tortillas are from the supermarket, and not hand made. The meat and fish are okay, and they do a cute rendition of Korean tacos. I'd recommend skipping this unless you're at Hank's for drinks. read more

Primarily outside seating with a neighboring bar to walk through to grab a beverage/cocktail while waiting for food (you get a buzzer). Live music is typically happening. My husband and I were in Key West for a very short visit. While here, we wanted to try a few specific restaurants because of reviews that I had read. Garbo's was one of them- I usually ask local restaurant staff for their recommendations and a bartender also agreed that we should try Garbo's. While I had intended to get the fish tacos only, I am SO glad that I got the Korean Bulgogi tacos as well. They were INCREDIBLE. There are picnic tables throughout the space (Garbo's is a food truck that shares the space with Hank's). You order your tacos, get a drink at the bar, and enjoy all of the adorable dog photos that line the walls inside. You could also listen to live music outdoors. One of the highlights of our trip! Escaped the crowds from Duvall and enjoyed a cold beer and great food in the shade at Hanks bar. Walk in and find a seat and grab a beer from the bar. This spot is, as the kids would say, mid. I enjoyed my Kogi Dog. Most of the seating is outdoors and they did not have fans or misters on so it was incredibly hot and uncomfortable with flies everywhere. My husband got the Korean BBQ burrito and it was too salty to finish and my daughter had the fish tacos which didn't have much flavor. Service was decent, but you do go up to the counters for drinks and food so it is pretty do it yourself. Overall, not my favorite Key West spot and it appears to be pretty over rated. read more

The food here is incredible. Hidden behind Hank's they are making some spectacular food. The burger I had was so full of flavor and juicy it took quite a few napkins. The Cayo fish taco is very good and less messy than the burger. Overall they have very tasty and filling portions, and a nice atmosphere under the awning at Hank's. read more

Great little food truck located in the backyard of Hanks saloon. Took us a minute driving in circles to find it. Mind you it's a little quiet here due to reopening during COVID so we were lucky not to have to wait at all. Walked right up they suggested we order a fish taco and a Korean beef taco so we can share with each other. We thought both were delicious. Got the Korean beef spicy. Prices seemed a little high at first (heart if Key West though!) but you get two massive tacos in your order. You could easily split one order with someone if you weren't super hungry. If you want to try all the flavors of tacos, during happy hour they have a trio for $10. That would be a great deal!! Might just have to come back and try that out. Go for the happy hour three taco (Korean beef, cuyo fish, & shrimp) special for $11. I won't tell you my favorite taco but all three are amazing. The ingredients are really fresh. The food truck is part of Hank's Hair of the Dog Bar which has all the regular bar offerings and live music starts around 5pm or so. Good atmosphere open seating outside. For my taste they were a bit too umami flavored but they were still very good. The second time I had the yum yum shrimp tacos. These were my favorite. Why 5 stars? Because the menu is my Mount Rushmore of comfort food. --- --- --- The things I crave when I'm eating healthy are weird. For example, one of those things, are hot dogs. I don't really know why, because it's pretty rare that I eat hot dogs, and I never crave them unless I'm in one of those rare modes where I'm ravenous or I've been eating super clean for several days in a row. Another thing I love more than most is bulgogi beef. Whether I'm hungry or not, whether noon or night, Korean food - and specifically Korean/Mexican fusion, sounds like it would change my life for the better. All of these things are on the menu at Garbo's Grill. Back in 2013, Yelp came out with a list of the Top 150 rated restaurants in the country. I bookmarked any business in a city that I thought I might visit one day, and Garbo's Grill was one of them. I stupidly waited til nearly 11 years of living in Tampa Bay before I visited Key West, but when I finally put those plans in motion, the first thing I did was set in stone that I would definitely be visiting GG! Turns out - it was worth the wait. If you're not familiar with the setting, Garbo's is a food truck in a courtyard, that contains some seating, another place to eat, and a bar. It's quite the neat setup - one I wish we saw more often. My guess, though, is that Key West is one of the few places where something like that can exsist. Why can't we all be more like Key West? We ordered our assortment of goodies from the extremely friendly girl behind the counter and grabbed a table nearby. As we waited, we got to hang out with a rooster, who was obviously very comfortable with people, because he was within arm's reach of us, hoping for some crumbs to come his way. Eventually, our food came out, and it was exactly what I'd hoped and dreamed it would be. The hot dog, some fish tacos and a bulgogi burrito was shared between the wife and I, and we were in heaven. All three were knocked out of the park - I only wish we had more room in our bellies for the umami burger. Next time I visit Key West, it will be tough to pass on visiting Garbo's for that! read more

As a food truck fanatic, this place is average. Off the beaten path a little. Nice atmosphere & fans to cool you off. They also have a full bar available. I went with my two sister for a late night dinner. The burger was eh, very well done & a burnt bun, it needs condiments as it was so dry it was hard to swallow. The voodoo chips were a nice side. This is the second time we've been to Garbo's, separated by a couple years. The ambiance is cool, although the location lends itself to having very little breeze and can be a bit stifling heat wise. We had Shrimp Tacos Cayo Style and the Cayo Fish Tacos. Shrimp tacos were good; fish tacos were kind of bland. I'm not sure we'll be back. So many cool places to eat & drink in Key West, it's hard for me to keep Garbo's near the top of my list. I'd really like to give 3-1/2 stars but can't do that, and three is actually unfair. Was really looking forward to this food truck after seeing the reviews on yelp as well as the volume. Ordered with no problem, but had a solid 20 minute wait for a burger and chipset 1:30 on a Saturday. Burger was good, but not great. I really thought it would have more flavor. Within a few minutes of eating I ended up having an allergic reaction due to the cooking area being cross contaminated with something. I don't know what set off the allergic reaction, but it was one of the sickest I have ever gotten. Be very careful especially if you are sensitive to shellfish. I don't think the griddle or cooking area is separated from the rest of the food and that might of caused it if not for some type of cleaner they use. read more

The location is a bit unique as it is a food truck but sharing the property of a saloon. Quirky vibe, live music and unique set up. Service was quick and efficient. Appreciated the free ice water which we got from inside the saloon with a self serve water station for refills. Garbos lives up to the hype. Great beach snack. I have been a few times and i usually get the korean bbq tacos which are incredible but the most recent time i got the shrimp tacos which were also great. Been coming to Garbos for years and it is hands down one of my favorite places in the keys. Never had a bad experience, always good people and consistently amazing food! We love the Happy hour special and we get the Key Lime frozen drink from Hanks and Holy crap it tastes like a deconstructed Key Lime Pie!!! Do yourself a favor and stop in for Lunch or Dinner, even if it's crowded the food never takes too long and it's ALWAYS worth it!! Oh yea and the shrimp they use are big key west pink shrimp unlike a lot of restaurants that use non local frozen shrimp, you can definitely taste the difference and feel the love they put into their food!!
