I was visiting from the mainland and developed a cracked molar that was killing me. Tried a couple of other Dentists and all were booked up. Made a call to Dr. Garcia's office and they said they would squeeze in between other appointments and asked if that would work for me. I took their offer and went in immediately fully expecting to wait as long as it took. Actually, it didn't take long at all before I was in a chair, having xrays, and getting patched up. Dr. Garcia offered me a couple of options, and we worked out a treatment that eliminated my pain and allowed me to finish out my stay. One month later and the tooth is still good. I don't feel like the hygienist did a good job on cleaning my teeth. She didn't use enough pressure and she started out polishing my teeth instead of scraping them first. I've had my teeth cleaned many times and I've never had a hygienist polishing my teeth first. I've never been told by a dentist that I need to have a deep cleaning done and I felt pressured by the entire staff there that I needed the deep cleaning done ASAP. In fact they had an appointment available for me to have the deep cleaning done the next day after my cleaning which I thought was ironic. I didn't feel that Dr. Garcia explained anything to me. I had to ask Nancy and Kaiya any question I had and I think my questions should have been answered by Dr. Garcia. I didn't get the feeling they wanted me to ask any questions and I don't like that. read more

She told me what needed to be done and she didn't even charge me for anything. She did much work on me and put in a permanent bridge. And other work that I needed. Margaret Garcia comes off as competent, she has a general professional bedside manner although condescending much of the time. Her office claims to have made phone calls resulting in voicemail, voicemail I have never seen/heard appear. When she removed my gold crown during an extraction she sucked it up in her vacuum & claimed she couldn't find it. Gold isn't cheap, you don't throw away gold from someone's mouth. That's just wrong. The crown she placed was not molded correctly and I'm stuck with a too fat canine crown that she argues with me is appropriate. I have molds I've compared it to, it's not the same size. She put a filling in my mouth that fell out twice & she claims it was the way I floss, even though I followed her instructions on how to floss around the area. The same tooth her filling fell out of still has the same 2/3 filling that was placed there almost 20 years ago in Mexico! Explain how that works! Then upon complaining to a friend of mine about Margaret's incompetence, my friend tells me her daughter went to her once where she operated on the WRONG TOOTH!!! USE EXTREME CAUTION WITH THIS DENTIST As you read this you need to know that I have worked in hospitals, administered health and dental benefits for nearly 20 years and know about copayment and billing better than most. So what this dentist has done I feel is bordering on illegal and is certainly inappropriate. This was my fourth visit in a year and as most dental insurances receive two teeth cleanings a year. But not with this dentist. She insisted on my first visit that it would be a good idea to get a deep cleaning a week after my first ever cleaning with her office. I agreed to this deep cleaning but then they insisted I come in for a 4th visit within two months. All very odd and suspicious but I had no idea how ugly things would get until April 2021. As I left that first visit (July 2020), the receptionist said the deep cleaning would be around $120. But when I finished the first of two visits is when I learned that I was duped. The bill for each of the two visits was $120. Okay maybe I misunderstood? But on April 14, 2021 I went in for what I thought would be another "routine" teeth cleaning. Routine in that I get two of these per year for free - or used to until this dentist. In the April 2021 cleaning the hygienist did a strange thing. She started with the polishing brush not the normal scraping. I even commented that this was odd. Then she finally got to scraping, then flossed but never did polish with the usual paste. Then they asked me to return again in a month? Why ? Because there is bacteria build up! What? Of course- but the real kicker is she billed me for a more intense cleaning- and instead of no fee to me they want $60. In addition the insurance has to pay double the normal insurance amount for this visit and I now have to pay $60 for this rather lackluster "cleaning ". The hygienist asked me to pay and I was surprised. When I refused she left and got Dr. Garcia, who tried to explain that I owed them for the office visit. She uses logic in such a way that is demeaning- that she is far superior to me and I should respect her. After I explained to her I need to find out from Delta Dental she said "Don't waste your time they have too much turn over and don't know what they are doing." She then said she and her husband understand billing better than I do. What she was getting at is that she knows how to screw her patients by making them pay out of pocket for routine teeth cleaning that should be free, and because of how she coded this visit she is charging insurance more and they are going to pay. If they have done this to you you need to take this up in a formal fraud complaint with your insurer. I went 6 years without seeing a dentist before I called Dr. Garcia with a massive toothache. She got me in right away and along with a bad tooth I had a multitude of other issues due to neglect on my part. Initially I was overwhelmed with what needed to be done, but she literally saved my teeth and gave me a healthy smile! Now, 18 years later, I am still a faithful patient along with my entire family. She is super awesome with my kids and has seen them all since their 2nd birthdays (they are now 11, 15, and 18), none of them have ever had cavities and they floss daily. If I could give Dr. Margaret Garcia 0 stars I would. She constantly pushes patients to make cleaning appointments. She noticed a small cavity that would need attention and instead of making an appointment for it she kept insisting on cleaning appointments. One of my first appointments with her was for a deep cleaning. They were short staffed that day so instead of the oral hygienist Dr. Garcia did my cleaning. It didn't feel like she did anything. My boyfriend was there for the same thing and his was done well by the oral hygienist. I had a tooth extracted and she insisted that I come in for a cleaning the DAY AFTER the extraction. When I got to the oral surgeon they told me that I should NOT have a cleaning for AT LEAST 2 weeks after an extraction. I called Dr. Garcia to cancel the cleaning and she tried to charge me for the appointment because it wasn't 24 hour notice. This was insanely unreasonable considering she was irresponsible in having me come in for a cleaning the DAY AFTER an extraction. She is a very unpleasant person who wants to push unnecessary appointments and products on her patients. Greedy and extremely condescending. read more
