Paid RosaNegra a visit for a late night dinner and I must say the restaurant is BEAUTIFUL! Definitely a great place to dress up and enjoy a night out in Mexico City. They have a DJ and live performances by a saxophonist and the service was incredible! Everyone was friendly and made sure we had a great experience. However, the food was a bit of a miss for me. I did really enjoy the bread and various habanero sauces they start you with and the street corn but the other things we tried not so much. The flank steak lacked char and flavor. The potatoes weren't seasoned well, same for the asparagus. The drinks were very good however my waiter helped me find a wine to enjoy and my sister had a cute cocktail with mezcal. Very disappointing experience. I did a lot of research to find the perfect restaurant to celebrate a joint birthday with two girlfriends, and of all the wonderful restaurants in CDMX, we chose this one specifically for the atmosphere. We also made our reservation six weeks in advance, so we were especially surprised to be seated upstairs in what appeared to be an overflow room. We were not walk-ins being accommodated at the last minute, yet we were placed completely away from the music, entertainment, and energy that had drawn us to the restaurant in the first place. It felt like an entirely different experience from what was advertised and, frankly, wasn't worth the visit. To make matters worse, my meal arrived cold--not lukewarm, but genuinely cold. The bright spot was the service. Our waiters were incredibly attentive, kind, and welcoming, and we really appreciated their efforts. Unfortunately, the seating and food issues overshadowed what was supposed to be a special birthday celebration. You have to make a reservation as even on a Wednesday night the place was packed...giving its was a thanksgiving week. Try to get the reservation between 8-9pm so you can enjoy their fire show. I've never had so much fun eating out! This is fine dining cum dance party. Saturday night was insane!! DJ stared spinning dance songs around 9 and the bongos started and the waiters passed out sparklers and the scene erupted. People got up from their tables and danced between courses and drinks. The food and cocktails were really great. Fairly extensive menu so something for everyone. Do not pass up the mushroom risotto! It was my favorite thing of the night. Other than the martinis and the dancing. If you are into tequila, the pours are GENEROUS! I would not recommend this place for a quiet romantic experience. We swung by RosaNegra on our first night at CDMX and loved our experience. The ambience is very upscale and chic. You will also have a lot of photo ops options. We were excited to order hookah at the table. Our cocktails were too cute to drink and the food was delicious. We ordered the Mexican bread for the table, vegetarian tacos, fish tacos and grilled vegetables. The servers were friendly but the service was a bit slow. One of my close friends recently celebrated a milestone birthday at RosaNegra Polanco in Mexico City. I didn't take a lot of pictures, so here's a quick recap of our experience: 1. The restaurant & ambiance: Beautiful venue + one of the clubbiest and most celebratory restaurants I've ever been to. There was a live DJ who almost exclusively played American soul and pop music, which we appreciated but were also surprised by considering we were in Mexico. A live band made a cameo appearance and played more traditional music. The servers were marching around the restaurant every 10 to 15 minutes with sparklers and making grand gestures to help restaurant guests celebrate their birthdays and other special occasions. There was also a marriage proposal a couple tables away from us. 2. Service: Exceptional! The hospitality and service here were top notch. There were actually three people assigned to our table of five, so all of our needs were promptly met throughout the dinner service. 3. The food and drinks: We ordered a round of cocktails, two bottles of wine, and an assortment of food, including crab bisque, mushroom risotto, Alaskan King Crab, steak, a wedge salad, a side of sweet potato mash, beef empanadas, a gourmet hamburger, and an over-the-top chocolate sphere dessert that my friend wanted. If you're looking for a beautiful restaurant with a great vibe then Rosa Negra is the place for you! We selected this restaurant for my cousin's birthday celebration. They have a DJ who was playing primarily disco, some R&B and reggaeton. At certain points during the evening, a band comes out and plays throughout the restaurant. The hostesses, servers and band engage the restaurant patrons and the place becomes very lively. The food was good. We ordered the rack of lamb, tiger shrimp, mushroom risotto and vegetables. I really enjoyed the mushroom risotto. The drinks were creatively presented. We loved the chocolate sphere dessert and the presentation that went along with it. There a live DJ that plays dance tunes all night long and two entertainers that play the drums and very lively atmosphere that breaks out in dance once every hour or so. I had the margarita off of their cocktail menu that was fairly small and it's just chilled so no ice in it. It was with pineapple juice. For main course I had their big hamburger that actually had a mini burger on top of it. Never seen it before. Tried the tuna which comes in a sweet gingery sauce and was delicious. Got to try both of this restaurant and their sister restaurant called Chambo during this trip. Both have the same concept of dining with entertainment (Chambo has a live DJ). The menu looks pretty similar. The service was impeccable with most of the waitstaff were able to speak English. POSTING THIS FOR TABOO, NOT ROSANEGRA BUT TABOO IS NOT A BUSINESS LISTED ON YELP. I am writing to formally express my disappointment with the service I received at Taboo Polanco on January 1, 2026, during my 8:00 PM birthday dinner reservation. I dined with my wife and sister-in-law, choosing Taboo specifically because of my consistently excellent experiences at RosaNegra Cancun and RosaNegra Cabo San Lucas. Unfortunately, this visit fell significantly short of the standards I have come to expect from the brand. While we were seated promptly, the service issues began immediately. After being seated, we were never provided menus. Our initial server, Fernando, began explaining a cocktail special. Shortly after, another individual--Rene, who appeared to be a manager based on his attire (suit, glasses, bald, approximately 5'8")--repeated the same cocktail explanation and asked for our drink order. At that point, we still had no menus, making it impossible to order properly. When we requested menus, only one menu was provided for three guests. Despite this, Rene returned shortly after and asked if we were ready to order, seemingly unaware that we were expected to share a single menu. Only after visible frustration did he realize the issue. We eventually ordered three cocktails, two pasta dishes, salmon, and a side of potatoes. The menu lacked clarity regarding included sides. The salmon description did not mention vegetables, which led me to order potatoes unnecessarily. When the dish arrived, it already included vegetables, resulting in an unnecessary $12 charge for a very basic side that I would not have ordered had the menu been accurate. We were served complimentary pita bread and chips with what was described as a feta dip. While explaining the dish, Rene physically touched one of the pita chips, which I found highly unprofessional and unsanitary. After our food arrived, Rene checked on our table only once during a three-hour visit. After finishing our meal and having our leftovers boxed, no one returned to the table for over 30 minutes. We ultimately had to flag down another server to request the check. Only after doing so did Rene return, and shortly thereafter, servers began resetting our table with fresh silverware. It became apparent that the staff had overlooked the fact that we were still present. At that point, a birthday dessert was rushed to the table without any prior acknowledgment, explanation, or even asking whether we wanted dessert. While the gesture itself is appreciated, the execution felt reactive and careless, which took away from what should have been a thoughtful celebration. When the check finally arrived, Rene stood at the table with the card reader while we reviewed the bill and discussed gratuity--an extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional situation. He then asked whether I wanted to tip 15% or 20%, despite the receipt clearly stating that tips are not obligatory. This interaction felt inappropriate and pressured, especially given the level of service provided. I chose to leave a 10% tip, after which Rene closed the check presenter abruptly, walked away visibly frustrated, and did not offer a thank-you or any closing courtesy. The service throughout the evening was consistently inattentive and unprofessional. From observing other tables, it became clear that the focus was not on hospitality but rather on upselling, presentation, and maximizing tips. While the décor and theatrics mirror those of RosaNegra next door, the service quality does not. This was, without question, the worst experience I have had at any RosaNegra-affiliated restaurant. I would not recommend Taboo Polanco to others, particularly when Polanco offers many restaurants that provide far superior service without pressuring guests over gratuity. I respectfully ask that ownership and management address Rene's conduct, as it reflects poorly on the brand as a whole. I would also appreciate a follow-up outlining what actions, if any, are taken in response to this feedback. For future diners: if Rene is assigned to your table, I sincerely wish you better luck than we had. read more

We ordered a slew of appetizers and the girls had a combination of pasta, seafood, and steak dishes, all of which they liked. We went here to celebrate our last evening in CDMX. We also celebrated our son's birthday, he's turning 2. They did have some homemade chicken nuggets and yummy French fries for kids. My husband and I wanted to share the tomahawk steak, but they didn't have it. So, we settled on the ribeye. It came out sizzling on a stone. The stone was able to sear the sides if you want to do that. It was seriously one of the best steaks I've ever had. I also had a cocktail from the bar and it was the coolest drink ever.
