I came here today to eat. I have always loved Garden Center Cafe, but today the food was horrendous. The service was excellent but the food was just plain awful. We ordered two salads and two soups, and a burger for the little one. The meat in the burger was old and tasted bizarre. The salad was wilted, and there was dirt inside of it. I crunched it between my teeth. Also, the guacamole had that disgusting rotten flavor in it. The soup was bland. The chips were utterly stale. The tomato soup was alright and so was the iced tea. Otherwise, I was so disappointed I wanted to cry. I will not be returning sadly and its really sad to see such a wonderful restaurant fall to the dark side. read more

We had a wonderful Mother's Day brunch at the Garden Center Cafe with friends who are VERY hard to please when dining out. The menu had something to please everyone, and everyone's meal was delicious and special in some way. Their house salad and dressing is not to be missed! My biggest issue with the restaurant is service. The food was outstanding. I had the lemon-basil sandwich with the garden cafe salad. Both were a true delight. We waited for over 20 minutes for a table for 4. Most of that time there was a table open, where we eventually were seated - when they got around tuit. The waitress served a couple seated after us before coming to our table --I hate that! The order took another 25 minutes to arrive, but it was hot (thank heaven). I probably would try again, but I seldom get to Fallbrook from San Diego. From what I see here, they really need to spiff up the service a lot --it is poor. read more

I love going to lunch here. The food is always good, the salads unique and delicious. Try the Garden Center Cafe salad- mixed greens, bacon, feta, pine nuts with a sweet onion dressing. And don't forget their homemade desserts. read more

We have had brunch here several times and keep coming back. It may be because the berry salad is. My favorite food in the world. Fresh berries, nuts, fabulous dressing. I liked it so much we went for a wonderful New Year's Eve dinner. Complimentary champagne included. I had the salmon which is super fresh . After reading the more recent reviews, I was pleasantly surprised with the service here. I haven't been here for Sunday breakfast for years, and the server remembered me! She and the entire staff were very consistent with refills on water, coffee & hot water for tea. They worked as a team & made sure we (and every table around us) had what we needed. Nothing special. I did actually like the eggs Benedict but the English muffin it came on was almost impossible to cut. Honestly the worst part of this place was the servers, we sat inside and could hear them complaining about everything as well as yelling at the cooks it was really awkward. The owner, as nice as he was to us he kept snapping at the girls for using multiple tickets. The food was a little over priced for the quality it honestly reminded me of a little diner but with nicer decor. Made reservations for 13 people togeather. We asked when we got there if we could move our two tables togeather. Owner refused. Mom's 92nd birthday, with 13 guest and they say ( Owner) "It's not possible. " We were already at adjacent tables! We only wanted to move them so we could easily converse. Everything was on one check! Owner Told us "I've been in this buisness long enough to know it will be to hard for the waitress, and you'll lose 2 seats". So we just won't do that." What happened to accommodation? "This place is expensive. I wanted to walk out ( and did) the rest were to embarrassed to. They will make (minus my meal ) 3 to 4 hundred dollars! off the check! So while the food is OK. It's pricey. And the refusal to accommodate rude. Owner talked down to us, as if he was explaining the obvious. What's obvious is his indifference to our request. Overall, really good food, large portions, at a decent price! I had an omelet which was very good, and had a bite of the stuffed french toast (to die for)! We arrived mid morning on a Sunday, and this place was bustling. We were seated within several minutes of our arrival and greeted by our waitress. Despite the fact that they were busy, very courteous and prompt staff that had a flair for being fun and lively, which is always nice. Coffee cups were kept full as were our water glasses. Kitchen did well, as food come out nice and hot, not long after we ordered, I'd guess it at about 15 minutes. The only complaint, was the country potatoes could have been fried on the skillet a little more to give them more crunch. Bathroom was nice and clean as well, which is always a plus in my book! And walking distance to the motel we stayed at, the Rodeway Inn right next door! Would definitely come back here anytime I was in town! read more

Fantastic place to eat. Their food is so yummy! You have to get the Eggs Benadict or the Berry Salad with Champagne Vinnagrette. Everything here is good and the ambiance is calm and beautiful. When the weather is good, you should eat out on the patio which is very lovely. All of the staff are friendly and courteous and I have never had a bad experience here. July 10, 2013 Thank you so much first of all to Clay, who met my sister and I back in March when I was first planning my son's rehearsal dinner for June. He couldn't have been nicer or more welcoming. He thoroughly explained what the restaurant had to offer, was able to work out the numbers so I was assured we could do the dinner for forty within our budget, and promptly responded to my follow-up emails with additional questions I had. The staff was ready and waiting when we arrived, and the service was excellent. The food was served hot and with lovely presentation; everyone raved about how good it was. The patio was beautiful and it was a fantastic evening with family and friends anticipating the wonderful day to follow. I myself had the fillet medallions, and they were tender and delicious; cooked to perfection. Many at my table had the stuffed salmon, and all agreed it was outstanding. My daughter is a vegetarian and loved the Garden Center Pasta. It was so nice that the children present had options for them as well. The dessert trays were scrumptious with several choices....soooo good!! Every detail was just exactly as promised. Bill was so friendly and made sure everything was going smoothly. Best place to eat in Fallbrook!

Pleasant place, good food. I eat here for breakfast occasionally. I find the service very good and the food also very good. It has a nice seating area outside under a covered arbor and by waterfalls and fountains. Prime Rib Benedict is really yummy. There is no other nice breakfast place in the town of Fall Brook So, when I go to see family this is the only choice. I would recomend it. read more

Wow-where to begin? My family and I frequent this place often; it may be because the food is excellent, the prices are reasonable, the service is great or the fact that you feel like you are on an episode of Cheers where "everybody knows your name". We have been for breakfast, (LOVE the eggs benedict-the day we went I had the special, prime-rib eggs benedict which was outstanding!) lunch (their salads are to die for! Huge in portion and the dressings are killer!) and dinner (So many favorites here, Stuffed Salmon and the Shrimp and Artichoke linguine are my staple items. They also have a lovely wine list to pair with their dinners-they have an amazing dinner for two special as well which is such a good deal. I believe its $42 for a 3 course meal-you can't beat that price at this higher -end restaurant). My family has also held birthday parties and even a bridal shower here where they were so inviting with helping us design a menu suitable to my families needs. We were able to have the patio as our private area which was beautiful! In being fair to the other reviews, this place isn't your typical "kid joint" but they do have a menu designed for them which I can appreciate. The staff has been there for years and is extremely friendly and personable. Lately, they have been having trouble with the waterfall, but when it's running, the patio area is such a relaxing spot! I usually order salads, and all have been fresh and delicious. Garden Center Cafe has a beautiful back patio! The area is perfect for formal functions or a nice dining experience. The staff are incredibly friendly people. They are respectful are prompt, and they make sure that they are serving you well. The food is also good, but it can be a bit pricey depending on what you order. This use to be my favorite place for a portabella burger. Sometimes they are not available on the weekend. It being a Saturday I called & placed an order for a portabella burger & cheeseburger. This evening I find out this burger was a portabella sandwich with chicken. So I called the restaurant & the man who took the order argued that is what I ordered. Menu is simple, not much to choose from. I ordered biscuits and gravy and it was good. My sister had the pancake platter which she said was good. My kids ordered French toast which was one slice of bread and a mound of butter and one piece of sausage-oh and a glass of milk. The food wasn't terrible but wasn't exceptional either. I should have just stayed home and cooked and saved my money. I guess I'm just used to Beachbreak in Oceanside. You get more for your money. read more

The garden center cafe is always good food. Breakfast is wonderful. They make their lemon curd for the French toast & their pancakes are delicious. Lunch is always spot on. The salads, sandwiches, burgers are so good. But the very best part of the day is dessert! The bread pudding, cheesecake, fruit cobblers are amazing. I have friends that eat dinner a lot & love it. What a delightful restaurant. I was in the area after a loooong day and this place was recommended by locals. They were closing in just a few minutes so we called to ask if they could take us. They were about to stop taking orders at 2:30 to close at 3:00 to prepare for the dinner shift at 5:00. We wouldn't get there til 2:40. Bill said they would take care of us, and that they did. I don't know if I can make this long story shorter. The food was lovely (the sweet onion vinaigrette was spectacular), the service was impeccable and the back patio was just magical with the plants and water-features and the periodic wild bird sightings. It was the absolutely perfect tonic for a grueling day that began at 7 with only a nutrition bar for sustenance at noon. I have to give a special shout out to Jose Luis (hope I spelled the right) who was friendly, thorough, and offered us sweeties and refills on our teas until the very end, even though we were cutting in to his dinner break that he would take at home before he came back for the dinner shift. He was so affable and generous we were utterly compelled to be at ease and not feel rushed. My party and I did not linger too very long, but we were the last ones to leave. The food was good but the people and atmosphere were outstanding and I will definitely be frequenting this establishment when I find myself in Fallbrook again. read more

Stayed at the hotel across the street and went here to grab a salad to go. They have a good selection of salads on their menu. I will say the salad was very good. Unfortunately, the roll that came with it was moldy. Thankfully this was separate from the salad. We went back the next morning for breakfast and the food was spot on. Probably one of the best breakfast burritos I have ever had. You need to come here. The coffee was not one of those military grade tank engine oils or flavored water. It was just right. Started with a side salad, which was good and no bitterness. Tammy provided good service as the Waitress. Dressing was on the side as requested, and no ice in the water as requested: check. Many repeat customers in their golden years, good to see and the food obviously won't kill the customer. Had their Italian Sausage Omelet: excellent. The outside patio dining area is really nice and beautiful, and I have ate there before and had a great experience. I came today for breakfast and the food was good, but I have to say that the friendliness of the staff could have been better. Particularly the host. Hosts are supposed to greet you kindly and politely. I mean, they are the face of the restaurant, the first person you see. The host today and her attitude was unacceptable. I went there for dinner with my family. First of all I was thinking it was a family place and that I could get soup & salad there. The ambiance is nice likes someone else mentioned but the food is way too overpriced in my opinion and there isn't much of a selection either. I am not a picky person in any way but I was having a hard time settling on something to eat. I got the shrimp linguine and it was good but I could have went to Olive Garden for the same thing & at a much better price. My husband got the steak which was $23 and over marinated in wine that even steak sauce couldn't cover it. The side salad's you get with your meal come with feta cheese & dried cranberries which is fine & dandy but honestly not worth it at all and there were no tomatoes or cucumbers on the salads either just lettuce, although they used a few different kinds of lettuce so I give them props for that. I will not be coming back here. I was hoping to find a new place in Fallbrook to come to but it looks like we will stick with Servanos from now on. read more

reservations for 7PM on Valentines Day were confirmed. Waited until 7:50 before we got a table. And they were not that busy! They had plenty of empty tables throughout the restaurant the entire time. I think they like to pace the number of new tables getting in so their waiters don't have to work to hard. After we sit down, it's 10++ minutes before we see a waiter. He starts to take our order and tells us he is out of prime rib, one of the 3 items on the menu!! WOW!! Would have been nice to know at 7PM. His consolation, a coupon for a free dinner. We left and left the coupon on the table. This is the last chance for this restaurant. People rave about their food because it is the only decent place to eat in Fallbrook and it is still HORRIBLE! We will not be back. restauranteers from outside of Fallbrook, please come and open up a decent restaurant here and put these people out of business!! read more

Our family had Sunday brunch while on a visit to Fallbrook recently. The food was fair but not memorable. Clean, quiet and generally pleasant atmosphere. For our Grandmother's birthday we went to the Garden Center Cafe. Overall everyone seemed more or less pleased with the brunch except the special prime rib egg's benedict. The meat tasted a little over it's prime, it had a funky taste, which to me meant bad meat. When mentioned the waitress said, "Well it looks like you almost ate half of it". When mentioning it to the cashier she seemed uninterested. And finally when mentioned to the manager he said the prime rib was cooked last night and they've sold 25 of them and it's just fine. I said, "Oh, I must be in the worng then?", and he replied, "Yes". Wow, I've never been so dismissed as a customer. I've been to this place several times and this was my last. I've never written a food review on yelp before, but the attitude of this place (from waitress on up to manager) was insulting enough for me to take the time.
