Perfect first visit! This place is my new favorite. Delicious, creative, fresh menu items (the butternut squash quesadilla and pizza special were buckle-your-knees-good) and excellent, friendly, water-refills-as-soon-as-I-thought-of-it service made this a wonderful first experience. We each got a salad, then split the pizza and quesadillas and the bill came to $31... We found that to be very reasonable for the quality of the food and the terrific service. Big portions, too. If you got an app, you could easily split a pizza as your entree, in my opinion. BIG quesadilla pieces, too. Table next to us ordered the sweet potato wedges and those looked delicious. This place is amazing. The food is incredible and diverse. I had an omelet with goat cheese, fresh herbs, and spinach. The home fries are a little spicy and smokey....I LOVED THEM. Although the food takes a little while to come, it is worth the wait :) I met a friend for lunch today and had a salad off of the "Specials" menu: all-raw seaweed, arugula, carrot, avocado, ginger... YUM. ALso had the burrito....YUM. My friend had the squash soup....YUM and the sweet potato quesadilla... YUM. GG does vegetarian and does it well. If you are a burgers and fries type who can't cross over, it might not be your thing. But for those who like and love good vegetarian food, this is one of the best places to eat in the state of RI. read more

Good place. Good food. Sorry not more jazzed up but when you cant eat any place this is the place to go. Basically my lack of enthusiasm has to do with that classic "its me not you" excuse. This is the back bone go to place for people with food allergies. It has been even before when you told someone you had a wheat allergy, it was like say you were allergic to air. They have always kept things progressive from the interior design to the menu. And like any relationship, you break up for a while, walk on the wild side and have to come back because, well, nobody does it better! So thank you Garden Grille for being there for all of us folks with tortured relationships with food. (If I hear one more rave review about that butternut quessidilla (sp?) I am only taking a star off because if you order to go it can sometimes take 45 minutes when they aren't crowded and on occasion I have gone there and the service has been pretty slow....despite that it is still friendly and this place is so so good. Small and quaint but usually a place to sit. Restaurant seems to have a rotation of art work. So always some change in atmosphere. Food always taste fresh and delicious. Seitan appetizer is spicy sweet and delicious. This restaurant is priced on the higher end but, if you want to eat healthy delicious food the price shouldn't turn you away. read more

I love this restaurant to the point where I would drive once a week 45 minutes to go to brunch. Loved their french toast, Reggies raw heaven, and other delicious soups and entrees. I am a New Yorker who went to school in Providence and fell in love with this place 13 years ago. I still consider it one of the best vegetarian restaurants I've ever been to -- and definitely the most charming. The food is incredible, inventive, fresh, and somehow down-to-earth too. Yum, yum! My husband and I loved this place. Super creative and thoughtful menu, and we were really excited to find a find with a full vegetarian menu after 5 nights in Newport, which is chock full of seafood, and most restaurants only have a few vegetarian options (usually some sort of pasta dish). We came back the next day hoping to get some yummy brunch before we headed to the airport to head home, but were bummed to find out they only do brunch on Sunday. Another group came in as we were leaving, and they too were bummed when the server told them they didn't do brunch on Saturdays. So, it sounds like they need to start serving brunch on Saturdays! read more

They have been consistently serving amazing food for the 16 years that I have been going. I am a devotee of this place. Truly their changing menu design and consistent delivery of their dishes is equal to or better than many of the great big name vegan restaurants in NYC or California. Many of the reviews on Yelp complain about the prices. They are wrong. They are comparing the GG prices to Subway or Chuckie Cheeses. If you could find this type of quality vegan food in one of the big cities, you would be paying more. It costs more to eat well. Laid-back atmosphere with really cool lighting. The food is absolutely delicious and interesting. The pricing isn't too bad. A very foodie place--could easily be in San Francisco or Portland. I've been vegetarian for ten years, and the Garden Grille is hands-down my favorite vegetarian restaurant. Everything i've ever eaten here is amazing - my favorites are the chipotle seitan (appetizer), and the tofu BLT (lunch only, but the lunch menu goes until 5:00pm). I don't usually eat the salad that comes with my sandwich - I like taking it home and stirfrying it up for lunch the next day with some rice. I go often enough that I recognize the majority of the waitstaff, and everyone is friendly and helpful. The dessert is all delicious (the vegan carrot cake is the best in the world, and I have eaten A LOT of vegan carrot cake), but I usually go next door to Wildflour for dessert because I like taking it home with me. read more

Every time I come home for the holidays or to visit, we stop into garden grille. The food is so fresh, the menu is always full of seasonal goodies and the inside is stunning. The location itself is a little odd, it seems more fitting to downtown providence. And they should expand (which they did to a whole new restaurant) since it's usually packed in there-for a reason. We were delighted with the food, setting, and staff. They put out healthy, tasty food, creativity prepared, and outstanding across the various dishes we ordered. The Garden Grille is as good a vegetarian eatery as we have ever tried--and, having lived in Manhattan for a couple of decades, we have eaten in a goodly number of such places.
