Hang on a minute...how has it taken me this long to find this place? We just got back from Gardner mattress after thinking we were going to "just start looking," and we pulled the trigger within an hour of searching in the store. The salesman was so kind, and when we initially thought we were going to leave and take a while to think about it, he was not pushy at all but instead gave us a price quote offering a small discount. We are pretty independent shoppers, just going by what we like and feel, but we had some questions about the types of foam and he explained the differences in a straightforward way. From his calm approach to the sales process, we decided to stay a little longer and lay on a few more beds -- sure enough, we found the perfect one. I honestly am blown away by such a pleasant shopping experience. I liken mattress shopping to used car shopping: slimy and yucky, but not here. We left with a full bed set: pillows, mattress cover, mattress, and box spring for less than the crappy "bed in a box" that we were actually thinking about getting, just to keep the price down. We are SO pleased. I am assuming the delivery and sleeping experience will be wonderful, but I will update accordingly if there are any additions. Oh, and it is a huge plus for us to see that their mattress covers, pillows, and mattresses are all made in the US -- the mattresses right in Salem, MA. Each mattress has a nice tag indicating this. Great to support local business. Come here! DON'T buy a Casper or any of those other annoying ones on Facebook ads. And for heavens sake don't go to Jordans. This place is wonderful. Excellent. Court helped my elderly father find the perfect mattress. He explained everything and made sure my dad didn't follow the old advice of buying the firmest mattress but the one that felt good when lying down exactly the way he sleeps. The delivery process was also bring perfect. They called ahead, showed up early, and verified that the cats would be out of the way. That was especially wonderful since I never mentioned the cats at any point earlier in the process. However, I do have a sign on the front jokingly warning about the evil cats. It's a joke as they would likely purr you to death. But they saw the sign and made sure the cats were safely away so they could keep the from door open. They dragged the old mattress and boosting to the curb and were away in what felt like five or ten minutes. Fabulous! read more

After years of marching into Jordan's and submitting ourselves to sales gimmicks and most times leaving wondering if we overpaid or got more than we needed ... and 6-7 years later realizing their quality never quite lived up to expectations, we decided to try something different ... start by looking for a quality hand made mattress (ideally locally made) ... We found it here. Sales person was educational and helpful. We feel we bought a great product that we know will last. And icing on the cake ... we didn't over pay (price was a lot less than a comparable mass produced mattress offered by Jordan's). No hassles and a great product. Jordans's was to complicated and I thought the mattresses there had a latex or plastic smell which I just could not get over... not here at Gardner! It's made in Massachusetts! I ran into a serious personal problem today and asked to cancel my mattress and foam topper even though they were already in the truck on their way to being delivered. I offered to pay the delivery charge but asked if the company could give me a refund for everything else. They not only agreed to give me a full refund; they did not charge me the delivery fee either. Obviously, Gardner Mattress responded in the most gracious way it possibly could. I knew Gardner mattresses are made of quality material; today, I experienced yet again the great quality of the people who run the company. I say "yet again" because the company had already been excellently represented by Court, the young man who manages the Woburn store and who was my contact person from start to finish. He was very patient and knowledgeable in answering all my questions about the mattresses and the ordering process, and when I ran into the problem described above, he was kind and professional in how he handled my initial call and fast to get back to me with a response from upper management. I hope someday to get to sleep on one of Gardner's super-comfortable mattresses, but in the meantime I figured I could at least share with others my outstanding experience in dealing with the company itself. read more

Bought two double mattresses about 4 years ago and absolutely love them. Bought two more a year ago for another room and are again so happy. You can turn them, our backs benefit from sleeping on such wonderfully made mattresses. It's a rip off to buy from anyone else except Gardner Mattress. Oh, friends of ours upon our recommendation recently bought a queen size from them and our friends are just as pleased as we were. On another note our stairs are not suited to get a box spring up and around them so Gardner made our box spring in two parts. read more

If you want an traditional mattress, then Gardner is the place for you. I didn't want the heat associated with a foam mattress. At first, I bought an extra firm mattress from them. It was a little too firm. If your doctor tells you to get a firm mattress for your, bad back, then you go to Gardner and ask for the FULL Sacro. You will NOT be disappointed. After trying out the mattress for a month, I decided I wanted something a little softer. Exchanging the mattress was no issue. Their delivery people did a wonderful job BOTH times :) The quality of the mattress is top notch. The price is comparable to any high end bed. If you want to get a foam mattress, they also sell those as well. read more
