This appears to be a common theme out here in LA so I am assuming it's kinda like a "pop up" name depending upon the producers/production company. In any case, I feel like I had been here before (under a different name, or perhaps in the same area) but I do not recall the entrance being so heightened on a platform with chunky steps and also a handicap bridge (which was difficult to enter and exit on). Once inside, the theater was fine (but old) and seating was not comfortable (I sat on a folding chair). Stage was easy to see from any seat in the house. Unfortunately, the production was rather grim so we left during intermission. Not sure if I'd come to another production here; I guess it all depends on what it is.

First time going to a sketch comedy show…read more My girlfriend wanted something to do and it was cheap. That being said we are in our early 20s and we were the youngest people there. Everyone else was a milenial, 35+. Some of the bits were funny and you definitely get what you pay for. I went to the restroom in between sketches, and when I was coming back the host was grilling one of the guys. He said he went 35 mins over and spilt milk all over the stage. He then asked him if he even read the email. After the 11 PM show, most of the audience had left, I assume many of them were friends or family of the actors. Then it was mainly actors from previous showings in the crowd and my girlfriend and I. Overall a pretty weird experience. We shared a few laughs though, and I did find it inspiring that all these people were chasing after their dreams. What they do seems hard, and I respect that. Mixed bag, probably will not be going back here ever again. Side note: Their website is out of date, and borderline false advertising. All the photos on there are from their old venue and it was much nicer. Their new venue on Vermont Ave is pretty run down and not as comfortable seats and a rinky dink new venue all around.

They even offer classes here in playwriting, clowning, acting, etc. Super impressed with Ritch Shydner's comedy lecture show. Hope he comes back and does more episodes.

Since this theater is in the veteran center, so I guess the average age of its patrons makes sense. The student tickets for the show weren't that expensive ($20), but the parking was a ripoff. The theater itself was average sized, not meant for huge performance, but not so small that you feel like you're in someone's living room. The acoustics and lighting seemed OK, but I'm not a huge critic of that kind of stuff, so you probably shouldn't take my word for it.

There is ample (if a little expensive) $7 parking next to the theatre, but oddly there is no bar. (Well, I guess Royce Hall at UCLA doesn't have one either, but it's odd to me). However, there is a private bar which you get access to if you're a $100 member and a concession stand with snacks and coffee etc. The seating is well laid out and the ushers get you to your seat, even if you arrive late. Nice. The crowd was kinda mature, but I did see some other younger faces, but we all left as united Connolly fans by the end.

Takes serious guts to put yourself out there on stage, funny or not, so had to respect them for their effort. It's a small venue so all the seats are good, and they do have drink service. Lots of places close by to eat and drink at afterwards too. We got our tix from gold star so they were incredibly reasonable priced. I paid more for parking than I did for the tix! Great deal!

Had a wonderful time watching Snow White and The Wizard of Oz today…read more Saw Snow White production at noon, which the cast was fun and energetic. Show was about a hour and was very interactive with kids. At 2pm saw The Wizard of Oz, a few stars from the Snow White production were in this one, each character was good and were wonderful to watch. Show was a hour as well. Best part is that all characters after each show are in front of the building so you can take a pictures with. The theater is about 6 rows, two sections on each side with about 10 seats in each row, it is stadium seating and any seat is great. In front of the first row there are pillows for kids to sit on. Sound is great and both productions were awesome. It's more for children but I as a adult enjoyed it as well. Hope to return soon to watch other productions.

And the issue here would be the security at the entrance, no matter how many times I have been here, they still checking names and sometimes if production didn't update my name on the system for the day, then security would not let me in, which is frustrating because I need to be on time where I wanted to be, they're not very flexible, one time, the main parking entrance got technical issues with the gate, I had to park on the same side with construction workers and walked to the main gate, but security there was even worse, there was 2 of them that day when I had to come in for fitting, the younger guy gave me an attitude the entire time and being super rude, so I talked to the older gentleman, I told him that the other guy refused to give me a parking pass and sounded like I was lying to him. I said I had no reason to illegally entering this place, I only here to work, even when I showed him my email, so is he calling me a liar? Only then they decided to let me in. I wasn't the only one experienced this, one time that same staffs refused to let another girl in and she had to wait outside in her car while calling casting director so they can talk to security, her car ended up unable to start, and she had to stand by it until AAA can come and give her a jump, and because she was at a parking meter which also expired. Just terrible right? After the holidays I came back and the new security let me in just fine, I think I did address the issue a couple times last year, so this morning security asked for my name, then asked whether or not I was here before and if I knew where to go, I said yes, and he let me pass. Finally some changes for the new year.

But this is even better. $5 with the limit of 30 people. The benefit is that if there is a bad comic, it will only be a 15 minute wait for another to come along. Sort of like the bus system in Los Angeles. On the evening I attended, the comics were very good. But I had such a craving for popcorn. Explainable, these are old, bolted to the floor, theatre seating in a 30 seat "room." I can see the win-win on this. You and I get an evening of no-frills laughs, and these funny people get a studio audience. Not a bad Friday night in Los Angeles. Since it starts at 10 pm, you have time to wine and dine first, and then bring your own dessert or anti-freeze and enjoy a show. I can't promise you that you'll get a free soda, I did get one, and there were a few left over at the end of the evening. Pretty good show since they didn't have to rely on a 2 drink minimum to make the show funny. :::tap tap tap:::: This place is definitely on!

It is a big theater, nice, clean, luxurious. Great projection here, decent ticket prices. We came to many nice screenings here, saw George Romero speaking, Ellen Burstyn, William Friedkin. Collin Farrell just passed by me once, my husband was getting a bit concerned since I have a crush on him. But it was all fun and good. I know they will have a few more screenings soon and I hope they will continue to do so in the future. Parking around, never had an issue, decent restrooms. I have been to the new Academy Museum but I prefer this location! It's more old Hollywood glam!

There has been many plays, musicals, dance & lectures. It's a small 400 seat theater that is Beautiful & a joy for our community. There is a small parking lot near the venue & street parking. Keep an eye out for the wonderful shows. A Christmas Musical Extravaganza is in Dec 16 & 17th! We just saw Michael Steele & Alyson williams in salute to Luther Vandross & Phyllis Hyman. You can have beer or wine as long as you buy a sippy cup which will cost you an extra 25 cents. But the wine and beer are quite cheap at $4.50 with a decent selection. Considering you're paying for something that you can't bring in.Allegedly no cell phones. Lol I'm typing this as I'm waiting for this to start. Will come back for a show if possible.
