Poor communication. I have seen Dr. Grout for several years and I have always enjoyed her, but her staff don't seem to know what they are doing. I was called by multiple people to schedule an appointment, which I had already been scheduled for. I was told several different totals for my copays, to find out that they did not have my insurance or that I was in network. I own that I could have verified that on my end but also it is the job of the front to verify insurance and benefits before a patient walks in. I will no longer be going here. read more

Now, customer service could be better, since the two female receptionists do not know how to give it. The male representative should be put in charge, as he shines in customer service. I've been using Affordable Optics for a few years now and have never had a problem like some have reported here. Everyone there have been helpful and appropriate. Dr. Grout is very good at what she does and she explains more than most eye doctors I have worked with. My frames are good quality. Frames can break, and it doesn't necessarily mean they were poorly made, but kids can do all kinds of things that break frames. I think this business is reputable and has good customer service, because that has always been my experience. read more

AVOID UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE DIRT. Your "manager" ERIC screamed at me on the phone when I stated that they sent me the wrong prescription stating that my cylinder is -1.75. He would not let me stop and explain what happened and kept cutting me off. For about 1 year I have been using that prescription that was wrong. I order my contacts from an online vender and he started placing the blame on them. Why would it be them to blame when it was affordable optics who sent me the wrong prescription and I have been using for a year? He also hung up on me. I repeatedly stated that I am a paying customer and will not be spoken to in that tone of voice. I called him back to get it sent and he said "its sent" and for the second time hung up on me. I called the district manager, Doug, and he was very intent on hearing my problem and was shocked. He told me that he was on his way over there to talk to them about this. read more

Avoid. Unprofessional staff and misdiagnosis. I went to Affordable Optics because it is very close to my university. I had been fighting red, inflamed eyes that were made much worse when I wore my contacts.. The OD diagnosed me with conjunctivitis and prescribed drops that made the problem much worse. I threw the drops away and went to an ophthalmologist who confirmed the misdiagnosis. He said the problem could have gotten much more serious if I had continued the drops! I was treated very unprofessionally by the front desk staff. I will not be returning! read more

I think these guys did exactly what I needed in a timely manner. I have some severe eye issues and the doctor explained everything really well. I also have a subscription to SIghtbox and we were able to get everything taken care of within an hour. Also anytime I don't have to dilate my eyes, I appreciate it. read more

I needed multiple pairs of glasses. They used to have a store in Spokane Valley, but it closed. That should have been a warning. However, I decided to still try them. The reading glasses and progressives were ok, but the computer glasses were completely wrong. I explained how they messed up and they claimed they'd fix the glasses. The new ones were wrong in a different way. I noticed at the store and there was no immediate statement they'd fix it. I said I'd take them home and try them for a few days. At the end of that, to document the problem, I filled out their contact form on their web site, saying it was still a problem and I wanted to hear from a manager. Four days later, I've not heard from anything. BTW: During the time this happened, they went from two stores to one, as the North Spokane one also closed. I'm guessing my situation isn't an outlier and that they're going out of business. read more

New to area. Should have checked Yelp. Bathroom was filthy. Truck stop filthy. Since the gentleman providing the exam didn't introduce himself, I'm assuming he is the Optometrist. I let him know about the unsanitary bathroom and he just said I would need to talk to the office staff in the front. The staff member ordering our glasses did not know anything about the types of lenses available and did not attempt to explain options, such as, scratch resistance, warranty, antiglare, etc. Someone called for an appointment and she was short and snarky with the caller. Then made fun of the caller after she hung up. We ordered 3 pairs of glasses but received just a copy of the credit card authorization indicating the total. Nothing itemized. But she whistles intermittently if you like that sort of thing. read more

I brought just about my whole family in to get glasses . My kids have a primary insurance and a secondary . These glasses should have been covered 100% but after Affordable optics added a bunch of coatings and said oh don't worry they will cover it . Well here we are with a bill of over 200.00 for the glasses that broke within the first month. The frames are junk and not very happy with this place in fact I will probably never step foot in this place ever again. Just took the family to Rockwood why better and all covered 100% read more

I went to Affordable Optics with high hopes. I was more than disappointed. Though the doctor was pleasant, the entire appointment was over in 10 minutes. They didn't dilate my eyes, despite me telling them I have a family history of glaucoma. I thought they were just efficient until I took my prescription to my usual glasses store. When I received my glasses they were the wrong prescription. Not just a little wrong; they were completely unwearable. Luckily my glasses store replaced the lenses with my old prescription for free. I will never go back to Affordable Optics. Worst experience I've ever had trying to get a new prescription. read more

Used my sons insurance for an eye exam he never had. Affordable Optics contacted me and said we had to pay for his scheduled exam because his insurance stated he already had obtained one for the year. Contacted insurance company and sure enough affordable optics were the ones who had filed the claim. Now we have to wait to obtain his benefits back into the system. Linda is always a joy to work with and Dr. Hogan has never been anything less than caring and professional. They have always helped me figure out my insurance options and taken time to help me pick out the best frames for my face. Sadly, I cannot remember the name of the last lovely lady that helped me with my frame selection on 10/13/2015, but she was wonderful as well. The last time I went here, I had a great experience. The price was reasonable, I thought. This time was vastly different. The sticker on the frames said $100, and I was charged $130. When I disputed this amount, the lady that I was dealing with didn't know how to issue a refund. Two weeks later, I had not heard a thing about my glasses that I ordered. I called, and was hung up on. I went into the store, and was told that they didn't know what was taking so long. The woman I spoke to this time did look into it, and phoned me explaining what happened. One more week later, and I have not heard anything further, and still have not been issued a refund for the $30 that they owed me. I went in to the store, and they still do not have my glasses. Been going there for a few years for my sons glasses. Always thought they were the best deal in town until today. Customer service is lacking and the prices aren't really that affordable. I could go into detail but, really not worth the time. Needless to say, I went on the manufacturers website and found a dealer selling the same frames for 25% less and received the attention my son needed to make the proper choice for his frame. I took my entire family (7 of us) to get glasses and tests. The doctor was great. The staff however is a different story. The older lady who appears to be there all the time got incredibly offended when I informed her that one of her techs did not do an adjustment properly. i let her know my wife's glasses had been killing her face because they werent adjusted to her, the earpieces were straight and the frames were way too big for her small face. She got angry unbeknownst to me she was the one that did the adjustment. She started right off defending the techs saying one of them had only been doing it for a couple months. A couple months of doing the same thing even one or two times a day you should be somewhat proficient after a mere four weeks. Never going here again. I bought 3 pairs of glasses two years ago, I thought they were nice to start but if you have any problems like not getting the sale price they advertized they change their tune right away. I ordered sunglasses, yeah, they didn't come in and when I finally request the reason they said that the frames "got broke" and they were the only ones they had. Then they talked me into a pair to replace them and when they came back they were huge!!! They don't even stay on. They just said, oh well you picked them out. Say what? The scratch resistant coating only lasted about a year and now it looks like my lens' have some sort of magifying glass microbe bugs on them or something. Will not go back read more

I have seen many eye doctors in my years, and I have finally found a place that feels like home. Cassandra works with you to make sure the glasses you chose are the most perfect for you they can be. I have always had severe difficulty going between glasses and my contacts. I would spend weeks with sea sickness and nausea when I put my glasses on. She looked at my glasses and immediately knew what was wrong. The material for my lenses was not right for the frames I chose. I had the perfect set of coke bottles. She had me look at frames and then explained the issue I would have with each. I picked a set of frames and while they were cute she let me know my blind butt would be wearing coke bottles again with the same fish bowl effect I have struggled with for more than 20 years. She is the most knowledable about Lense materials, how they are cut, the outcomes for each based on the frames you want etc. her knowledge is far superior to anyone I've ever encountered. Ultimately I got the most adorable glasses that didn't give me any issues in switching between my contacts and my glasses. She is passionate about her job and takes your eye sight seriously. She is a super sweetheart and a genuinely kind person. I am thankful I came to Affordable Optics. read more

Well if I could give a zero star I would. Went there a little a year ago. The glasses I could see far distance but could not see things clear up close like the computer. Went two times for adjustment and was told to try that to see if it gets better. Never did and I didn't go back. Either my eye check up was done wrong or the lenses was not made right. Talked to three different employees who all had a different song and dance regarding said prescription... But they would be happy to schedule another eye exam at my convenience!?! I don't even think Affordable Optics should get one star. My glasses were not even close to the prescription. I couldn't even see one full page of text. I was told my insurance would cover the bulk of the glasses. I paid my portion of the cost then low and behold, I owed more money. I ended up paying more than $200 for glasses that I cannot wear.
