I was passing through Indianapolis and got a flat tire on my truck…read more I was not familiar with the area and stumbled across Tire Discounters. I was pulling a car hauler trailer and found it difficult to get in front of the building as it was very tight. I parked in the rear on the Menard's side of the building. I went inside and was instantly greeted by Gina. What a fantastic human being! I explained my situation to Gina and she went right to work to get me taken care of. Gina had me sign an invoice that said if only a repair such as a patch or plug needed to be done, it would only cost about $35. I was totally fine with that and signed the form. There were several employees in the shop area and there were only two vehicles in the shop that looked like they were wrapping up. After about an hour Gina told me she was going to check on the status of my truck. Gina returned and said it was only a bad valve stem and it shouldn't take too long. About another 30 minutes or so later, the manager came in to the lobby and asked me to follow him as there was a problem with my truck. As he showed me through the shop and out the back where my truck was, he told me an employee broke a light on my truck while lifting the truck with a jack. I had custom auxiliary back up lights mounted to the bottom of the rear bumper and during their work, an employee hit the light on the passenger side and broke the mounting bracket. The light itself was hanging by the wire harness. The Manager said If I gave him the info on bracket he would take care of it. I told him my greater concern was getting back on the road as it had been almost 2 hours to that point and I had another hour of drive time to get to my destination. The manager asked me what I was going to do about the light. I told him the light unplugs and I could just put it in the bed for now. The Manager reached under truck and pulled the entire wiring harness out from under my truck and unplugged the light, but by doing so he pulled the entire harness into the way of my trailer hitch. Now I have a damaged light, damaged harness, and I am seriously behind as several employees stood around the shop rather than helping to get my tire fixed. after 2 hours, my truck was done and I paid $39 and change. The manager was NOT rude and Gina was was awesome, but I really think this whole situation could have been handled much differently. I get this is business, but I've been a manager and am still a supervisor, and I would've done what I could to make better of a bad situation for the customer. 2 hours to replace a valve stem, breaking the light, man handling a wiring harness, then charging me for that service would not have been how I would've made sure the customer was taken care of. I get accidents happen, and I know there was no intent to cause damage, but it happened.

Good customer service at least would acknowledge any patron standing there in the entryway and at least say something. I get they're busy but I swear good customer service is very rare. Update after 6 minutes... they just yelled through the door we will be with you all in just a couple minutes. I know it will be more. The correct thing to say would be, "we are sorry for the wait, someone will be with you as soon as they are available." Dear management teach better customer service to your employees. ***Update once helped Obdulio helped me and he's a nice young man who knows how to treat customers. He was able to get me the proper information and very professional. I'm very grateful for his help. I realize it's busy I'm not disregarding that I really am not. It's just frustrating to walk into a business nowadays and not be addressed or spoken to. My interaction with Obdulio definitely has helped because of his ability of communicating and being able to get my car in. Regardless of how many hours I appreciate his help. 5 stars for Obdulio 3 stars for the first part of my visit. Reminder to bring earbuds or something to distract you from annoying people who don't understand that changing tires takes time and patience. Also for the morons on speaker phone who are obnoxious and rude. ******UPDATE AFTER DROPPING MY CAR OFF ALMOST THREE HOURS AGO...they close at 6 and I have not heard one single thing about my car or anything. I get again it's busy but COMMUNICATION IS KEY. They told me 1 1/2 hours which I knew it would be longer but now what, do I have to miss work tomorrow because my car is there and I don't know the status. MANAGER PLEASE HAVE A POW WOW WITH YOUR GUYS ABOUT COMMUNICATING WITH CUSTOMERS. BACK TO 1 star. Zero stars if possible because the link the person left under this doesn't work it says error when I try to contact them. ******LAST UPDATE 7:38pm Obdulio called me a few min ago said he saw my car and asked if anyone had contacted me and they said no so he was kind enough to call me to tell me it was ready. This young man is probably the kindest and honest person up there and I know he's doing his best. I do appreciate him: I just still hope the others learn some kind of way to communicate with customers better and have a little more experience with treating customers better. The service was done in a timely fashion for them being really packed in! My rims which I took in by themselves came out exactly how they went in, no damage, no anything, except a little grease (but that's to be expected!)! Overall everyone was friendly, communicated and accommodated my tire weight request, and to not sit my rims just on the ground. A lot of shops don't do what these guys did! The price for 4 tires was extremely fair! They had a lower price than most of the shops around, had the friendliest service of all that I called, so from now on if I have a tire need I will be back!
