These days, trying to find a trusted mechanic can be difficult in the sea of choices and reviews. I wanted to take the time to share my experience with Northeast Auto so that you can utilize their services with a high level of confidence. It was a Tuesday and my brakes began to grind and I had a 7 hour drive that following Thursday. I contacted this shop and was greeted by the impressive manager, Julie. I explained my situation and she did everything in her power to get my car in the shop that Wednesday and to guarantee that my brake repair would be completed by the end of the day. I asked what the potential cost would be and she said if I needed new rotors and brake pads, it could cost $300-$400 per axle. This was on par with estimates I had researched. Impressively, upon the Mechanic's review, it was determined that I just needed brake pads AND that they would rotate my rotors instead of replacing them. They order the parts the day of service and the delivered parts were not the right specifications. Julie went beyond and ensured the correct parts were delivered and installed that day. Huge Props to the Mechanic as well! Knowledgeable, Honest and not in the business to upsell, but to ensure complete customer satisfaction! My car started overheating while my girlfriend was in Indy visiting relatives. After a quick Google search, I called Northeast Auto and spoke with Julie. This was on a Friday morning about 9 am. Dash indicators led us to believe the car needed a new thermostat. She stated that if I got the car to the shop soon, that the repair could possibly happen that same day. I could not believe my luck. When the mechanic was draining coolant, he noticed that the radiator was beginning to ooze antifreeze from both the top and bottom seals. Julie found a radiator close by and the race was on to get both done by closing time. A second mechanic was added, and the repair was finished on time. Julie used a coupon to lower cost and worked with the local tow company too. The entire shop did a great service for me, and I cannot thank them enough. This shop gets my highest recommendation. read more

We're told that it's smart to get a second opinion. In this case, I was getting service at a dealership and they informed me that the radiator was leaking transmission fluid internally and that the radiator had to be replaced. More importantly, the coolant could be getting into the transmission and ruin it. I decided to wait on this $900 estimate and get someone else's opinion. That is why I came to NE Auto Service. They were prepared to change out the radiator for much less but advised me that there wasn't an issue with the radiator. Just a leak near the clamp. Saved me a big bill, and won a new long term customer. read more

Took my car to get my brakes and rotors replaced in December, after being "fixed" had to take the car back again for squeaking the same day. After a few months my brakes where making a grinding sound. Midas told me they gave me a warped rotor and replaced it. Now 4 months later my whole care is shaking due again to bad brakes. Not worth the 600 dollars at all. read more

Wow, impeccable service. My car died on Sunday on I69. We had it towed to the shop Monday morning and it arrived around 11am. I got a call back at 12:15pm with the issue. They had it fixed at 4:30pm. The pricing was very fair and worth the money. I can't recommend this shop enough. It's tough to find a good mechanic that won't screw you over or even look at your car within a week. We got lucky with this one. I'm not vouching that they're same day service, but from my experience it seems they are. To be clear, I haven't given this place my business yet, but I was incredibly impressed with the way they handled my phone call when I was asking a second opinion on a work quote from another shop. The guy who took my call was straight with me and told me that the quote I received from the other shop was pretty much in line with what he'd consider standard for the work. I asked a few questions and he explained things to me honestly, without making me feel dumb. By the time we ended the call, I understood better the work that was needed on my vehicle, and felt confident in my decision moving forward. After receiving a flat tire on one of Indianapolis horrendous pot holes. I had AAA drop my car to the nearest auto repair. Which happens to be NorthEast Auto Repair... my experience here was the worst service I have EVER received. After getting a new tire to bring back to them to put on.. they told me it wouldn't be until after the weekend until they put my tire on. (I dropped off on Thursday). Well, I need my car for work so I had a neighbor give me a hand and say he would put it on. After tell NorthEast Auto Repair this. They IMMEDIATELY were rude and said they couldn't give me my keys until Saturday. They then took my car off of the jack & put a rock under it. Once I came to get my keys. They wanted to give me a bill for putting my car on a rock. once I refused to pay for no services that were performed... they thrn began yelling and cussing me out... saying things like "GET THE FUCK OUT, YOU SMARTASS" and the list goes on... These are the most classless people I have ever been around. I would not recommend them EVER. read more

It's difficult to find a good auto repair shop where you feel like you can trust them. Northeast is that place. They give you a diagnosis and evaluation that's practical to your pocketbook and they're amazingly fast in calling you back. Brian is excellent and great in relating your options. I'd had a blown transmisson a couple years ago and they found a used one, installed and I've driven on it for close to 50K and still great. Some shops only do re-manufactured which is thousands more. Keith installed it and he's an excellent mechanic. I would trust my repairs to these guys among any in Indy. In fact, I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

I googled where to take your vehicle to get running boards fixed your place is the fist to pop up. I have been taking my car and truck to them for 5 years and I have always been treated well and the work has consistenly been fair and done right. Brian and Julie(who are mechanics themselves) are very helpful answering any questions asked and they always try to find you the most affordable prices for parts and labor. The mechanics are all knowledgeable, helpful, do thier jobs well and possess years of experience. I am a male and I tell a lot of my female friends and family about Northeast Auto because they treat women right and dont take advantage of women like some shop are known to do. Northeast Auto Service is the best auto repair "shop" my wife and I have used in the past 15 years! We found Northeast on Yelp after getting an estimate on our brakes from a local repair shop that we thought was overly expensive. The local shop (only 2 miles from our home) gave us an estimate of over $1300 to replace both the front and rear brake pads and rotors on our van (or $1000 for just the rear). That shop also told us we needed new calipers and hoses. We contacted Northeast within a few hours of getting that estimate. Brian told us that he could do front and rear brake pads and rotors for "less than $900". We took our van to Northeast the next day. Brian called us in a timely manner and told us that we did not need new calipers and that our final bill (for front and rear brake pads and rotors) would be under $600... Brian is awesome to work with...very friendly, very knowledgeable, very experienced... We got the work we needed done on our van for less than half what the "other shop" wanted to charge us! We highly recommend Northeast Auto Service to anyone in the Indianapolis area! read more

Never a happy moment when your vehicle has to be towed in for service, but Northeast has made my '95 S10 Chevy Pickup live to see another day on more that one occasion. This time it involved the starter. I called Keith the next morning after it had been towed over night to their location. He called back a little bit later to confirm that indeed it was the starter, and that it should take no more than an hour to complete the job. He had it done well before lunch time that same day. I knew I needed break work and knew from past experiences I'd be overcharged at a chain store (Firestone, CarX). I was encouraged by the reviews and called. I explained the problem and was given a great estimate over the phone. I was told an appointment wasn't needed, but to bring my car in first thing in the morning. After looking at my car, I was told that they would try to save the calipers, because it was quite a bit more expensive. In the end, the calipers could not be saved, but even this estimate was well below what I was expecting. They also gave me a time frame of when to come back to have my front breaks/rotors/calipers serviced. Another place would've (and has) demanded it be done then. Brian checked me out and said the estimate I was given was about $30 less than the estimate he would've given (& he said he normally works up the estimates). He had me pay the lower estimate. I will absolutely be back, as I found the mechanics to be trustworthy and you could tell they cared more about the customer than the bottom line. read more

You know how when you get a quote on your car to be done, and you fully expect that maybe it will be 10-20% more? Well, remove that vision when you use North East. Just had timing belt, water pump, tensioner and other belts replaced for about 20% less than the original quote. Also, the original quote was 30% less than the competition. They price fairly, they are nice, and ultimately they deliver what they promise. Everyone should go here. read more

Was passing through on a road trip, had car trouble one night, needed someone who opened early to get me back on the road for my girlfriends birthday the next night. Northeast was busy already at 730 when I limped my car there. I knew it was a fuel supply problem, and they were able to identify that it wasn't the pump but was just a line. No one in north america had the part, so they patched the line and got me on the road. They are great! read more

I am a local business owner with a handful of older vehicles that need constant care. They have been 100% honest from the start. They've never racked up a ticket with unneeded repairs. They've actually patched a few minor things for me at no charge. It is hard to find a mechanic that you can trust and I'm telling you, this place is great. On June 5th I took my car in because I thought it was having starter or alternator issues and they told me that I needed a battery. So, I got the battery and an oil change. That was $230. Then, two weeks later my car started overheating and I got it towed in ($80). They told me it was the thermostat ($260). I got it back, and it worked fine for a day. Then, it started overheating again. I gave them the benefit of the doubt thinking that maybe the part was faulty. So, I got towed in (another $70) again. They told me that my 2013 Chevy Malibu (which has been a reliable car for me for the past 4 years) had two thermostats and that they change the other one, and that I should be fine. They said the work would only cost me $93 dollars over the phone (took some off the price because they didn't fix it right the first time), and when I got there Keith told me it was $134. I told him that was not the quote that I was given over the phone, and he quickly changed it to $93 that I was quoted in the beginning. So, I get the car back and it starts to overheat AGAIN! This time I took it to the dealership, and they told me that my car has a crack coolant basin and that there is no way that a mechanic working on the heating and cooling system could not have seen it. The cost for that is $649 + tax. ON TOP OF THAT, they told me that my car only has 1 thermostat!!!!!! I would leave no stars if it were possible. I am truly disappointed because in all I spent $503 dollars (including tows) hoping to get my car fixed there. I looked at the reviews before going and I believed that this would be an honest reasonably priced repair shop that I could go for all my car repair needs. Unfortunately, that turned out not to be the case. I am truly disappointed that they changed parts that did not need to be changed and missed the true issue. I am just a single mother w/ three kids that is trying to get to work every day. read more

I took it to them because they I had other quotes on different things from anther shop, called them here at Northeast, and they quoted a price for everything I THOUGHT I needed was much cheaper, so I took to them. After I drop it off, I get call saying that I didn't need half of the stuff I initially thought I needed, which saved me close to $1000 even though it meant them losing out on the opportunity of $1000. Dealership said My vehicle needed a new engine for $8K. Since I wasn't about to pay that, a friend recommended a second opinion. He recommended I take it to Northeast Auto Service. I was somewhat hesitant since I live on the other side of town, but I figured why not. The folks at Northeast Auto Service ran thorough diagnostics on my vehicle. They literally saved me thousands of dollars on a fix that didn't need to happen! They diagnosed and fixed what needed to be fixed. Having something go sideways on your ride can be stressful enough and trusting someone with your car or truck can make it that much more stressful. The mechanic Kieth was especially helpful and explained everything he did to diagnose and fix my vehicle! My car wouldn't start on the day before I left for vacation. Jumped it and went to have the battery tested. It tested poorly. Before I replaced it, I wanted to ensure the alternator was functioning so I parked it at home and took our second vehicle to the airport. A week later, I jumped the car and took it to 'Northside' because of the great Yelp reviews. I arrived unannounced at 7:15a, 15 minutes before posted opening time. Doors were open and I was welcomed and told that the as soon as 'one of my guys' arrives, they'd look at it. Okay, the waiting room leaves a bit to be desired, but it's an auto shop. The service was timely and efficient. No gouging. Alternator is fine. Batteries for a Lincoln are expensive. During our conversation, I was told that I could save, maybe, 20% by going to a box store. The downsides: Do they have one? If so, how long has it been on the shelf? For $50 and my time (and questionable expertise), I determined to use the experts.
