We took in our 2017 Infiniti Q50 on 12/30. A scan of the vehicle was ran and it came back with different codes. As a mechanic I would think you would know what takes priority regarding the codes. Mr. Richard decided to go the easy way out and "clean" the throttle. We picked up the vehicle on 12/31/24 went home a few blocks away from the location and parked the vehicle. We didn't drive it until Saturday 01/04/25 and again Monday 01/06/25 which was the day my husband took it to work and at the end of the day as he is driving home from work the vehicle stalled on him. He dropped it off that same Monday. The vehicle was at Gary's automotive from 01/06-01/11, without being worked on. The excuse was that he had a lot of other vehicles to take care of. In the meantime we were charged $402.50 for the throttles to get cleaned. He said the reasoning was because that was the first issue he saw and he needed to start "somewhere" he did t even try to re-fix the issue or fix anything. We did t get our money back which is okay, however now he's stuck with this bad review. We took it to City tires they changed the sensor which was one of the codes they re-programmed the computer and VOILA the vehicle is great !! So NO thank you to Gary's automotive read more

I came in for information about a future service and instead of the mechanics communicating it was their break time or asking me to come back later, the mechanic decided to speak to me in a condescending tone. I apologize for bothering you all on your lunch break, I would've been completely understanding of the situation if it was expressed properly. After calling 12 different automotive service locations and asking them questions about my 2008 BMW 135i, this shop definitely has the most knowledge in the LA area, he was able to answer questions quickly and correctly. On top of that his prices are the most reasonable you can find around who will still service your car appropriately the way the manual states it should be with the correct amount of torque. Course I could take my BMW to a BMW shop, but why would I when the mechanic here understands and is going to do the exact same thing except at a reasonable price. I've had one place just tighten my drain bolt so hard I thought they messed up the threading on my oil drain bolt. If you have a GWC contract I would recommend you choose this place, when you find a good doctor you stick with that doctor. Same with a mechanic when you find a good mechanic you stick with that mechanic. I will be recommending my friends and all others to consider at least calling this place before deciding where to take their vehicle if they are new to the area or had a bad experience with their previous mechanic. read more

do not come here, the manager or master tech is a a**whole, gary harasses you if you have questions or concerns. his attitude and patience is thin, blows a fuse. real hot head. i took my car here to get inspected and he wanted to test drive and asked him if he was insured for the sake of what happened to my other car in the past, he immediately got out the car and made a scene infront of the shop, raising his voice, be a drama queen, vulgar totally unprofessional and inappropriate i would never take my car here again! i do not recommend anybody to bring their car here! i've been here before a year ago from today and gave me ridiculous prices for an inspection and was awfully rude about it as well, i drive by there everyday and the same cars they work on come back a week or two later, thumbs down half a star! do not come here read more

When I needed a replacement part, he gave me the option of new, factory rebuilt or generic brand AND told me what was good, bad or indifferent about each so I could make an informed decision. I took my clunker in because it was stalling and could figure out why, there was no error code readings from anything computer wise. Richard was very patient with my worries and is a really amazing mechanic. Despite the lack of error codes, he managed to get down to the problem and realized it was a bad MAF sensor, he replaced it, and a couple other things, in a very speedy fashion and although I will eventually need more work, my car is running like a dream! I am very thankful that I was able to find an honest mechanic finally, someone who wont spew nonsense and who can actually get down to the root of the problem and not try to take advantage, especially being very busy with a bunch of other cars! I've found my forever mechanic shop and will go there for all my repair needs! read more

I have been going to Gary's Auto for many years. They are creative and are able to get things fixed at minimum price. They are the only auto repair I go to. I also bought my new Ford Expedition from their lot. Richard and the guys are so kind and have been able to fix everything, including my wheelchair lift on my car. I called earlier on the day to get prices on changing brakes. By the time I called Gary's Automotive Service I had already called about 2 other places and the first 2 I called were very helpful and pleased to answer my questions and give me pricing. In other words, they want to do business. When I called Gary's Automotive, the representative that answered which sounded like it could've been Gary himself was either having a bad day or is miserable in his job. The same questions I asked other places I asked him and he just cut me off saying that he didn't have time to answer all my questions for pricing, if i was interested I can go if not then I can look somewhere else. You'd think that people want more business and would offer good customer service but not the case here. Running a business is not just your way or the high way. Get to know your customers that are interested in bringing you business before cutting them off and then this happens; business reviews are so easy now in days for the public to see and get an impression of how the business runs and the type of service you will be receiving.
