We had to replace our gas log set in our "new" house this year, a fact we didn't discover until it was cold enough to light up and we realized that they were crumbling into pieces. Unfortunately, the cold season isn't usually the best time to start hunting for gas log sets, unless you want to pay full price and wait in a long line for installation. After a depressing visit to another retailer, I happened to open an ad brochure (H&L?) that shows up in my mailbox monthly, and saw that Gas Logs Express was extending their summer sale through fall 2017. So I made the trek to Cedar Park from South Austin and got the same ceramic log set I was eyeing at the other place except that it was on sale, along with free installation and a couple of other perks (platinum bright embers and a holiday pack that includes a couple of ceramic acorns and pinecones). True, I had to wait in line for a couple of weeks for installation, but they showed up as promised, did a great job of installation, and we are now enjoying our new festive fireplace every night. This is a small family-owned business that can get a bit short-handed in the rush season, so I advise you not try to get them on the phone. Just measure the inside of your fireplace, check their website (which is fairly comprehensive) and their hours, and go see them. They have a nicely set up showroom and you can see all the most popular sets on display and ask questions. And they have BBQ grills, as well. That's next on our list. Maybe next year. read more

Three weeks ago I bought some gas logs from David Brown at Gas Logs Express in Cedar Park Tx. The ceramic logs are very realistic and the glow from the ambers looked just like the real thing. I have a see-through fireplace and in all these years I have never had any heat that came off of the real firewood but since David son's installed the ceramic logs I have more heat coming off of the ceramic log than ever before. Our gas fireplace quit working and they came out and cleaned the orficies and that seemed to solve the problem. They told us that we would only pay for the service charge, and, if in a six month period they needed to return, we would only be charged for the parts. A few weeks later, the fireplace would again not light and they returned to install a new gas valve, however, when that did not solve the problem, they advised we would need a new controller. We asked them to get one for us and they returned for a third time to install it and solve our problem. They were true to their word and did not charge additional labor costs, only the price of the controller. This is an excellent company to deal with. read more

Walked in and the owner took the time to explain our options and said we first needed to pick between split or full log on bottom. Then said pick the wood you like best. I am HURT and appalled at the experience that my husband had at this establishment today. We live in Georgetown and for years have made the trip to purchase pellets from this establishment in the effort to support an independently owned business. We have purchased 3 smokers from them and have referred 2 friends who have purchased a smoker each. Today my husband made the 50 mile round trip journey to the store and upon arrival, realized that he had forgotten to bring a mask. He opened the door and attempted to ask David if he would charge him for 4 bags of pellets. He did NOT enter the store, nor would he have. He was rudely informed that he should've called first. My husband tried to tell him that he has recently had brain surgery (scars of which are evident and obvious) and has been rendered 100% deaf in one ear and has only 20% hearing remaining in the other ear rendering conversation via phone IMPOSSIBLE. I am angry and heartbroken at the HUMILIATION and RUDENESS that was heaped upon him. Buyers BEWARE- this establishment extends no help to HANDICAPPED!!!! Veterans should shop elsewhere. Do yourself a favor, shop where your business is appreciated and you are treated like a human instead of a petri dish!!!! WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I walked in Sat morning with some questions about a Green Mountain Pellet grill and Dave (owner) spent 30 mins showing me the ins and outs of the machine. What struck me was I told him I have another smoker and was just curious. He wasn't trying to sell, instead he's just passionate about his products and his knowledge is unmatched. After learning about the product I decided I did in fact need another smoker. NEED! :). They had a great selection of gas logs with really impressive pricing. It's not Home Depot cheap, but the quality is 1000 times better. The owner walked us through all of our choices and did not pressure us into any upgrades or extras, although we did choose a few. His son came out to do the install just a few days later and was very professional and did a great job.
