Dr, Raj kept telling me I had IBS or just needed more fiber. After 13 bouts of diverticulitis & 1 hospitalization in 1 year I had about 1 ft of colon cut out. Surgeon said I shoud have had surgery 5-6 years prior. I'm nearly 10 months out from surgery & still having problems with gastritis & gastroparesis & diverticulitis that couldn't be removed. Left me on meds for gastric reflux for more than 20 years & now stomach is totally messed up. Don't know why I kept with him for so long. read more

The procedure was OK, but I'm still trying to get them to refund me the money I overpaid for the facility. It has been 12 weeks, and they said it would only take 4-6 weeks. Someone has dropped the ball, and they won't call me back. This is unacceptable. I will never go back there again. They demanded the full payment up front, yet when they owe me part of that back (because my insurance covered it), they take their time, that's not right. read more

Worst doctor experience I have ever seen! Dr. Darmadi was awful! After waiting an hour to see him he was in the biggest rush and had no time to listen to me AT ALL. He did not help me. He spent all of 2 minutes with me and did not answer any of my questions. I sadly had to schedule another gi appt which I just left and it was wonderful. I literally only needed 10 minutes to form and discuss a plan and this new doc did just that. I feel so much after seeing a different gi doctor. I've worked in the medical field for 10 years and honestly have never witnessed such poor care. Side note- front desk staff and lady that called me back were awesome and very sweet. Beware your colonoscopy time WILL be different than what is given to you ahead of time. Colonoscopy scheduled for family member at Pearland Surgery Center. Gastroenterology consultants gave one appointment time however when surgery center called to confirm the day BEFORE it was a totally different time! She stated the time given by the office is never the same as the actual time for the surgery center?!! How inconvenient for the patient that the surgery center does not coordinate the times with the clinic and it is changed last minute. read more

The doctor was running late, as usual. His office staff once inside the doors were amazing. I don't think I've ever laughed that hard while waiting over two hours at a medical appointment. Dr Raji was prepping my IV and telling jokes the whole time - "Everybody wants me and I'm quick!" The nurses were all cheerful, helpful, and offered many times to answer any question I had. On the plus side, I liked Dr. Shah and I was happy with the endoscopy that he performed at the affiliated clinic next door to his office. The medical staff at the clinic was very nice. On a negative note, I found the "office" impossible to deal with. Calls were seldom returned and it was difficult to get prescriptions refilled. The final straw, for me, was that the "office" was unable (or unwilling) to give me a reasonable expectation of charges for an updated endoscopy that Dr. Shah wanted to perform. The clinic called with a verbal estimate for the clinic fees, but couldn't/wouldn't give me reasonable estimates for the doctor, anesthesiologist or lab fees. They promised to send the information via e-mail along with the number for the anesthesiologist office, but I never received anything, Dr. Shah's "office" never gave me anything. YMMV, but I'm no longer willing to see any doctor if the office isn't able to return calls within a reasonable time frame, and provide a reasonable estimate for medical charges. In my view, the doctor is only as good as the office support. read more

Dr Raj is a good Dr, but I will not go back to him again since he has terrible staffs and they are so irresponsible. They did not check my medical record before your procedure. I have been waited for almost a month to have a colonoscopy. One day before the date of procedure, I found out that they forgot to ask for a clearance from my cardiologist. They told me to stop one of my medicine and they will reschedule my procedure ASAP. After 5 days of waiting still no call back to update on the surgery schedule. I have called everyday and left at 10 messages to ask for update and advise what I should do still they did not even return my phone calls. They dont care about the patient's health, just care the about the money they get from the procedure. read more

This practice is understaffed when it comes to appointments. I had an appointment which was cancelled by the practice. I called to re-schedule and was on the phone for nearly an hour before I gave up. When I saw Dr. Rao, she also very curt and rushed me out of the exam room. Their on line message says that they have a portal for making appointments but I was not emailed a portal number or password. My overall experience has not been positive. If you have lots of time to burn this is the practice for you. read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE! My husband spent thousands of dollars on a procedure and was provided medicine by Dr. Shah. A couple days into the treatment he developed severe stomach pain and an array of side effects from the medicine. We were on vacation and he was doubled over in pain and we have yet to hear back from the assistant, doctor, on call staff, or any staff whatsoever since June 7th 2022 and it's the 28th! Other than check-in the visit was great, doctor and nurses were very attentive and receptive of what I had to say. Also had a student doctor that was very thorough. They took their time to explain what tests needed to be done and why as well as what each test was for. The only less than pleasant part of my experience was with the girl at the front desk she wasn't very personable like the patients checking in were a bother to her but other than that great! read more

I was originally scheduled for an in-office consultation which was canceled because of the COVID-19. I was re-scheduled for an April visit. A couple of days later, the doctor's office reached out by text and the a phone call to determine if a facetime consultation on the phone would be appropriate. I consulted with Dr. Bala over Facetime and was impressed by his demeanor and professionalism. I was not a person who needed to see him right away, so any procedure that I was to have done was put off until July when the CDC estimates that the COVID-19 will be on the decline. Dr. Bala also kept things simple, which I certainly appreciate. He asked all of the pertinent questions to determine where I needed to be in the queue for care. read more

This place is horrible and should be shut down. On Wednesday December 21 this office performed a Covid-19 test on my husband in preparation for his colonoscopy procedure on December 30. My husband asked how he would know the testing result and the office representative performing the test told him not to drink the prep solution until he got a confirmation call from the provider's office, and if he gets the call then his result is negative. Later that evening, my husband got the confirmation call stating that it was to confirm his appointment for his procedure. We then went through the entire Christmas holiday with the understanding that my husband was negative. This morning, a full FOUR DAYS after the testing was performed, a woman from the doctor's office called to tell my husband he is actually POSITIVE FOR COVID-19. My husband explained everything that had taken place to which this woman replied "Yeah they do that sometimes". I would not trust these people with any facet of medical care since they are unable to get the procedures for something so crucial to public health even remotely correct. Hopefully no one else my husband came into contact with as an essential employee will contract Covid-19 due to the gross negligence of this Provider! Update! My husband received an email again confirming his appointment for his procedure (the one that should be cancelled because he is positive for Covid). He called this morning (12/28, the morning after the test result) and after being forwarded to a voicemail that just kept ringing, gave up with even trying to reach someone. I did not bring my Covid vaccination card for my colonoscopy so they did a rapid test at the clinic. I appreciated that. I would have brought my vaccination card if it had been included in my instructions. It just said to bring my ID and insurance card. Otherwise the check in process went smoothly. All of my nurses for my colonoscopy were great. My only complaint is with Dr. Daram. He said hi to me in the hall when they were rolling me in to the procedure room. That was all he said to me. This is the first time a doctor has not talked to me before and/or after a procedure. Made me feel like I was on an assembly line. He did call my husband after the colonoscopy. read more

I really hope this helps everyone to NOT go to this unprofessional office, my experience at Gastroenterology consultants PA was completely horrible! If I could give this place zero stars I would. My consult visit was okay, I saw Dr. Rachel Schiesser (she was Pregnant at the time) I told her about my symptoms and we agreed that I needed a colonoscopy. She told me to talk to her nurse/ medical assistant (not sure which one it was) she was a young girl who was a bit rude but I was too sick to even bother with her. She scheduled me for the colonoscopy and explained to me how to prepare for the procedure. Two days before the colonoscopy the office calls me to tell me I had a co pay and I guess a deductible (first time ever getting a procedure like this so I'm not completely sure) the women I spoke with was rude and unprofessional I had so many questions and she sounded very annoyed while she answered them. I asked about making a payment plan and she transferred me to talk to someone else, she was very nice and asked to make my first payment over the phone (which I did). Day of the procedure the receptionist wanted me to pay AGAIN and I explained to her I had already made my first payment and she looked at me with a very confused face until she opened her drawer to open a book and saw that I had already made my payment, she didn't bother to apologize for her mistake. Dr. Rachel Schiesser did my procedure and after she was done she told me I had chronic ulcerative colitis, told me about what foods to avoid and sent me out my way. She prescribed prednisone and asprio, I understand that medications can take some time to actually work but all my symptoms were only getting worse. I saw her two weeks later, I waited in the patient room for almost two hours before she came in. She apologized and said she was having lunch (I get a pregnant person has to eat so I wasn't too upset) I told her I was feeling worse and all she did was rub her pregnant belly (she didn't even bother to examine me) and said she wanted me to get on another medication (Humira) and again sent me out my way. Never did she bother to explain how serious my new diagnosis is and failed to mention all the horrible side effects Humira does to the body, but she was sure to tell me she was going on maternally leave soon. Almost a week after my visit with her I was feeling like complete dog crap so I decided to go to the ER. The ER doctor spoke to her over the phone and she said she was going to have someone from her office call me to set up an appointment to see her the following day, they called me almost two weeks later! By that time I had already seen another doctor who actually listened to me and cared for my needs. A few weeks later I called the office because I needed my biopsy results and the woman who handles faxes told me she was going to send them right away, she ended up sending them the next day after I called several times and she mentioned she had misplaced my request and paperwork. Never in my life have I ever had a horrible experience like this. If you go to this doctor just know that Dr. Schiesser and her staff will make sure you have a miserable time. read more

My parents usually see Dr. Bala, but I saw Dr. Rao in the clinic on 250 Blossom St. and she was great. She takes time to listen to her patients and offers appropriate patient education. Unfortunately I did wait 1 hour in the waiting room, but you can see why if she takes out time to talk to you then she will do the same with others. I especially love that this facility has an online portal so you can do your "New Patient" paperwork online prior to your appt. The discharge summary handouts they give after your appointment are also available on the online patient portal. read more

First off Doctor Avila is great. My complaint is the billing department. I understand they may be behind or frustrated but when a customer calls KIM you should BE POLITE and wait until they are finished talking and when the customer says they were interrupted dont rudely say "WELL GO ON". After asking for manager the account manager ALICIA answers and basically states she heard the conversation and KIM was not rude. I said okay so interrupting and tell a customer/patient "WELL GO ON" is not rude. She made an excuse and said well she was explaining the bill to you. So Alicia and Kim both need customer service skills and phone etiquette classes. I would like to talk to an office manager. You can never speak to anyone directly. And the answering call service is always delayed and transfer to another person who DOESNT ANSWER. By the way we paid CASH for the service up front. They informed us WE HAD TO PAY before service. So to get a bill after waiting and paying all this time ahead of time is troubling. I get it ....COVID...but honestly you want to be NICE to the people who are paying your bills and doctors to stay open. Forked out almost $1,400.00 and apparently plus some more. So to the billing department be as patient and kind as your doctors are. This will go a long way or at least accountability. read more

10/29 Dr rao was very rude when I was trying to ask about work stuff and explain my situation to her she began to scream at me telling me she wasn't going to argue with me and telling me she wasn't going to fill out my paperwork for work right this instance that she had other patience to deal with (which I did not ask her to drop everything just telling her I needed it to return to work) she also began to tell me that she was not responsible for what HER staff told me. As well as when she walked out of the room she began talking about me to her staff which was totally unnecessary And on 10/31 after my colonoscopy with doctor rao she was rude when I asked again about my loa paperwork and if I was able to return to work she proceeded to yell at me saying "she will handle it" and walked out right In the middle of me talking and asking questions. The whole experience was just totally uncomfortable. Her staff isn't much better and now they refuse to fill out my loa for work and mailed it to my house so I will be getting fired from my job thanks to this location . read more

As a family member of one of Dr. Bala's patients i strongly would discourage using his service. He does not listen to the patient complaint nor does he perform an examination. His approach to treatment is to order multiple costly procedures, one after another. And when no obvious cause is found he repeats the same procedures. I would strongly suspect he has a vested interest in the imaging center that he refers to. After months of testing and no results my husband consulted another provider for something unrelated to his complaint. While the physician was addressing his problem my husband mentioned his GI complaint and the physician LISTENED to him and she ordered a very simple radiology test which immediately diagnosed his problem. The physician who diagnosed him was not an gastroenterologist. Lesson learned NO DOT USE THIS PROVIDER!!!! read more

I think Dr. Bala said all of 10 words to me in my 1st appt. The PA barely even did an examination. I have a hiatal hernia. I allowed him to do a colonoscopy/endoscopy despite my concerns that he was too busy to be bothered with me. I am not saying he is not a qualified physician, I am saying he doesn't have time to treat all his patients with the concern and respect they deserve! Dr Bala runs Bay Area Endoscopy Center so that is where I went 5/21/19 for the procedure. It was 2.5 hours before he found time to get to me (and that was after I told them I was concerned). I told the staff I was scared because I had a bad experience doing this procedure in the past. I laid on the gurney in the procedure room for about an hour while the staff and I waited for Dr Bala to get off the phone. If it hadn't taken 2 days of prep, I would have run out of there! I told the Anesthesiologist I wanted a new doctor. Dr. Bala came rushing in!! When the Anesthesiologist (William CRNA) injected the lidocaine, I yelled it hurt so bad, but none of them cared! Then he injected the anesthesia and I started crying, but he still didn't care! William CRNA blew out the vein so the solution was being injected under my skin. I just told the tech that I jump out of airplanes for fun...so I don't cry easily. My entire hand is still black and blue. They just wanted me to shut up and get out of there so they didn't care I was in distress! What happened to the Hippocratic Oath? And one of the promises within that oath is "first, do no harm"? Even after I woke up the staff didn't even make sure I got to my vehicle. I've had a dozen outpatient procedures and they always make sure you get to your vehicle after anesthesia, but I could have driven myself home for all they knew. I have never been treated with such disrespect and lack of empathy! Do they have any idea how much trust it takes to let strangers put you to sleep and perform a procedure that could potentially do irreparable damage to your body?? I have felt horrible for 2 days and my hernia is even worse. Haven't been able to sleep. They told me to only call if I was bleeding or vomiting. I am disgusted that while I was so vulnerable, these folks treated me like a rancher treats cattle. Who treats a 59 year old woman like that? I am going to call my old doctor and drive an hour to go see him because I will NEVER go back to these people again. Thanks for reminding me why I fear the medical community!!! read more
