Mocha with bubbles.
Laur L.

I love this spot but know that giving it a higher rating would be due to a nostalgia factor as opposed to the actual goods/atmosphere. There are other Gateaux locations near this one, but this one has the most goods. This is also a Korean bakery chain. Love their goguma (sweet potato) latte when they have it during the colder season. Unfortunately inflation/the economy caused the prices on a lot of the bakery items to go up. I will say that the drink prices are still very fair, as are many of the lil' bread items. You'll just have to try their items to figure out which ones you like most. Personally their curry doughnut and mochi (served in a pack of four), along with their coffee-cream filled bread loaf are my fave bakery items of theirs. They also sell bingsu (shave ice) but it's not good value imo. I know some reviews said that the bakery ladies were mean, but tbh they're overall pretty polite, just not bubbly/cheerful (which they don't owe you!). The interior is also great for getting work done on your laptop.

sandwiches and pastries

Ordered breakfast today and was pretty underwhelmed with the food. I got a Macaroni and Egg Sandwich, Tuna Sandwich, and Cream Puff Choux. None of them were bad, but they weren't great either. The prices are high, which is also why I was expecting the quality to be better. I've not tried their cakes, but they do look really good. So maybe I'll give them one more shot and try one of their cakes next time.

Red bean shaved snow

They bake everything on premise. Their bubble teas are decent. Their pat bing soo is good, but a little stingy with their ingredients considering it's $12

Came here on a hot day with my gf. Thank God she is Korean. She ordered the Pat pi soo. Red bean shaved ice with fruit. It's very light and refreshing. They use frozen yogurt. I think other places use condensed milk which I love on toast. Maybe not with my shaved ice. I want to try their baked goods but there is next time.

Mixed fruit cake and green tea frappuccino

I came here for dessert after dinner. It's my family's go to dessert place for birthday cakes or breakfast pastries. It's close by since my family lives in Tenafly. My favorite cake to get is the red bean cake and not many Asian bakeries have red bean cakes. My family usually gets one for my birthday every year. I would skip their drinks though since they're not that great. The bubble tea is not really bubble tea. They make it like a slush and not like a bubble tea. The prices are decent and everything is usually fresh. FYI - there's a $10 minimum for credit cards.

Be aware! Credit card transaction fees aren't even 4% to begin with and this place is now transferring that to its customers!!!

Be aware: as of June 30, 2019 (probably since much earlier) this business started charging a credit card transaction fee equal to 4% of your total purchase, in addition to the 6.625% NJ sales tax! Most credit card companies charge the merchant less than 3%, which means this place does not only pass the fee onto its customers but it also charges more than what they would have otherwise paid to the bank!

Milk tea bubble tea

Three stars. Very spacious cafe with tons of different pastries and drinks. I love their green tea roll cake with red bean creme filling. Their cookies are good too but a bit overpriced. All of their bubble teas are blended with ice. Their bubbles are hit or miss. Sometimes they have fresh bubbles, sometimes they have stale bubbles that are just too diluted from a long period of sitting. Awesome place to come to read, sit and talk, or work. It can be a little loud with kids running around as this place seems to be a popular destination for moms. I didn't see any power outlets so come prepared with your gears all charged up. I'm not sure if they bake any of their pastries and cakes at this location. It seems like they have all the equipments and baking machines, but most of their cakes are brought out frozen. Tons of parking spaces surrounding the mall. I never had a hard time looking for a space. $10 minimum for credit cards.

Cream puffs - delicious
Shab A.

It's a nice size bakery in the area where there are very few cafe/restaurant choices. I was really happy to find this place. So we went in for the first time yesterday. I'm a huge matcha fan, so I got their matcha macaron and cream puffs (small eclairs). The macaron tasted terrible, no matcha taste at all. But the cream puffs were amazing!! 10-12 small cream puffs in a container were $5. Great price! My sister ordered green tea latte. She hated it. Took a sip and couldn't drink more. If this place was in NYC, I would give it one star, but just because this bakery offers a nice place to hang out in cold winter days in an area where you'll see more deers in the streets than humans, I'm giving it more stars.

Cute little cafe in Closter! They have some unique flavors and the employees are very friendly. I…read moreended up trying out the Ham & Cheese Croissant and the chocolate chip cookie. Croissant was SO GOOD - the cheese was really melty and the croissant was so fresh and flakey. The chocolate chip cookie was also really good - you can tell they use really good quality chocolate and it was one of those cookies where the crust is crunchy and the middle part is softer. The cookie also had a ton of chocolate so definitely a must try if you like your cookies with less dough (but not overly sweet!) Overall, would come back to try other pastries. TIP: Gets crowded on the weekends with bikers. Go early or late afternoon to ensure you get parking. They do have a parking lot but it can fill up fast.

Should have reviewed this place a while ago, because I've grabbed their delicious bread before…read more Today my wife and I were walking at the nearby nature center and decided to extend the walk to La Tabatiere. The shop is small but they use the space wisely, nice counter filled with one hit after the other. Literally everything in there looks magnificent. Today I went with a double shot of espresso and a chocolate peanut butter chip cookie. Service is prompt and professional. We sat at a picnic table outside the bakery. The espresso was quite good, nice well rounded flavor. The cookie was decadence personified! Chocolatey, pops of peanut butter, in a perfectly chewy cookie. Really enjoyed La Tabatiere!
