I went in on a Saturday asking for sleeve alterations on a pair of blazers for a wedding the next Friday, which is really short notice (as they had just arrived). They assured me they could do the alterations and some additional dry cleaning by Friday morning, and not only did they follow through but they got it done two days before they said they would. Sherry is also very friendly, and is on a first name basis with her customers (going by the other interactions I witnessed while in there). One family stopped by outside just to say hello. He tried conversing with me - that type of politeness will keep me coming back. He even gave me a calendar! I rarely go to the dry cleaners, however I had a last minute alteration needed for a wedding. Sherry is amazing!!!! It was so last minute I was afraid there wouldn't be time for her to complete but she assured me it would be ready by Friday. I got a call the next day that my dress was ready. This review is long overdue but I have always used this place for my dry cleaning needs but I used this place for my tailoring needs. Being a short person it's always a plus to have a good seamstress on hand to alter my pants and/or dresses when needed. The seamstress/owner is the best I know and she is so sweet! Well I went here because it has best reviews for dry cleaners in Vallejo. I guess my expectations were high. Both times I went the lady seem unsure of herself and her ability to complete the task at hand. She asked too many questions and had a look of judgement. Did not feel comfortable and the place on the inside as you wait is uncomfortable and feels dusty in the air. Going to pick up dry cleaners on Friday so I hope she doesn't get ahold of this soon. Also no smile. Made me feel like a dollar not a relationship that I like with someone Id regularly do business. Also did not let me know prices before she rang me up. Its whatever. I need a new dry cleaner place to go to. Ill pay more if I have to. These guys are already expensive as it is and take 7 days to get a shirt! Really. So I purchased a dress to wear for my graduation pictures next month, and me being 5'1", dresses tend to be longer on me than the model photos. I would always pass by this place and because of that, I decided to take my dress here to get it altered. I knew it'd be a hard dress to alter due to its detailing and ruffles on the bottom. I asked her to break down the prices, but she had difficulty doing so. When I picked up my items, I asked why she does not display a menu. She replied that everything is different. I think I have been going here for almost a decade for alterations and especially the length of my pants since most ready made pants are long in sizes (obviously manufacturers make them longer than short right?) except for coats that have long and short sizes R and L you can choose. I went here to get my bridesmaid dress altered. This place over charges you. My cousin who got her wedding dress altered cost $100 but my simple $25 dress from Windsor cost $85 to alter. Not only was it over priced but sherry never told me how much it was going to be and that I just pay when I pick up. Had I known it was going to be almost $100 I would of just left it. It did not really need to be alter, just a plus. My dress was brand new when I brought it with the tag still on it and everything. Now it has a brown mark on the side. When I asked about it she just kept saying I Don't Know... didn't even bother to say oh let me wash that here for you or anything like that. The dress is now too short.. when I came in to get sized I brought in the shoes I would be wearing with the dress just to be sure. Trying it on in the fitting room at the cleaners. On my tippy toes it does not touch the ground. Imagine with my heels it really won't touch the ground. I didn't even try to fight it, she's the type that will try and blame everything on you and will not own up to her own fault. I had to rush it because I got it cut 3 days prior to the wedding (but idk if that made a difference in pricing tbh). We fitted and decided on a length to cut but she couldn't give me an estimate when I brought it in so I asked for her to call me later in the day. Gave me an estimate later in the day for $69.00 for cut and adding a clasp hook. They already had my dress so I bit the bullet. The dress was around the same price so I was really bummed out. You might find me here coming to pick up the me and my man's dry cleaning way too late. But Gateway Cleaners is always chill about it. My man has been taking things here for years. The recognize both of us and are always really sweet. Everything we have sent there has come back great! Including some tricky hemming of some pants I had destroyed by the hems touching the ground when I walked. Maybe I'm too used to prices in Oakland and SF being higher than Vallejo, but I have never received a bill that made me blanch. This was the first place I ever took our dry cleaning in Vallejo and I really have never seen much of a reason to change my ways. Dropped off jackets this morning and they're already done! Yay! The old man is so nice and thanked me numerous times for my business. Suit jackets run about $7.50 and wool jackets around $12. Not bad for the materials. There was also a broken button on my jacket that they replaced for free. Good service. This place was also voted best in Solano County, and I can see why! I have been going here to this place ever since I moved here in Vallejo (6 years ago). I've never had any problem with them and the owners are really nice and would always give me a smile whenever I come in. My most recent visit here was December of 2014. I brought in my white shirt with really dirty collar, and a couple wool jackets that are covered with mildew. I needed my white shirt right away for the NYE celebration and it was promised to me that it'll be done in a couple of days and will be ready for me to wear for the NYE celebration. With the wool jackets, they advised me that they might not be able to remove all the mildew I have accumulated on my jackets but they gave me hope by saying "we will do our best to make it look nice." Days passed by, and they were able to deliver what they promised me and even beyond that. My white shirt was totally clean, looking like a brand new shirt, and what really made me happy was that they were able to totally remove all the mildew on both of my wool jackets. I was really happy to result of their service. My only concern, but not really much of a concern, is their price (My reason for knocking off one star). Their price is a little bit on the moderate/expensive side, but with this kind of outstanding service that they provide, I can totally say that it's well worth my time and money. I needed my uniforms dry cleaned, and this place had good yelp reviews. I must say all the good reviews of Gateway Cleaners were correct. I had 3 pairs (shirt and pants) that needed cleaning. Originally she told me it would be ready in a few days, but with my schedule, I told her I couldn't pick them up until next week. She asked if I was a fireman and how many uniforms I had left. I said one set. She said that's not enough, and said they will all be ready tomorrow. You can't get service like that anymore. The uniforms were ready the next day at a reasonable price. This is definitely the best place to get your clothes dry cleaned in Vallejo. I turned in a sweater with partial vomit on it (not mine) and two suits and got them back in excellent condition. The lady In the front is fantastic and makes sure you get your clothes as soon as possible. Furthermore she went the extra mile and re-sewed two loose buttons on my suits at no additional charge. Awesome place. Fair price, quality work, and fast service. Long story short, I had two days to get an expensive Italian suit custom tailored. I took my suit here based on a recommendation from a family member. The day after I took my suit in they returned it to me with all the work perfectly done to the measuring specifications I needed. Of note, normal turn around time for the tailoring would have taken 3 to 5 days. Also, they initially said they could get it done in two days but they were nice enough to accommodate my lack of time and get the work done in one day just incase I wanted to make any other slight adjustments. In addition to their quick service on my suit, I turned in two custom Italian made shirts for cleaning and pressing and trousers.
