Awesome place. Fair price, quality work, and fast service. Long story short, I had two days to get an expensive Italian suit custom tailored. I took my suit here based on a recommendation from a family member. The day after I took my suit in they returned it to me with all the work perfectly done to the measuring specifications I needed. Of note, normal turn around time for the tailoring would have taken 3 to 5 days. Also, they initially said they could get it done in two days but they were nice enough to accommodate my lack of time and get the work done in one day just incase I wanted to make any other slight adjustments. In addition to their quick service on my suit, I turned in two custom Italian made shirts for cleaning and pressing and trousers. I was visiting from out of state for a wedding and a get together with friends on Father's Day weekend. I had a dress and an organza jumpsuit that needed to be pressed on the day of the wedding and before I left town to go up North for a couple of days. Called to Gateway and asked if they could get these pressed within a couple of hours. They said no problem if I brought the items in right away. Dropped off the items at 9:30am picked them up at 11:10am. Of course, this was just for pressing service and not a full dry clean service but I would definitely use this place again. I grew up here in Vallejo and used to use the One Hour Martinizing that used to be on Broadway, but since they're closed this is now my go to place when I'm in town. read more

I needed a New Year's eve dress altered and I was leaving town in a week. The owner was super nice and had it altered in 2 days! When I got it back and tried it back on, the dress needed a little additional alteration to make it perfect. Without hesitation, she took the dress back and I got a call less than four hours later that the dress was ready for pick up. The dress is now perfect, I won't be falling and tripping on it come New Year's eve! I also bring my dry cleaning here and they always do an amazing job - they once took out a difficult stain on a blouse I had that another dry cleaner couldn't remove and everything is always neatly pressed. This is my go to for dry cleaning and alterations. Sherry saved my butt for my interview on Thursday by providing me with a last minute service. I forgot to pack my suit (yes I know ), and so I had to purchase one on Tuesday. Sherry did the impossible and was able to alter my coat and have it ready the next day before my interview tomorrow. Even though I had only given her a day to alter my coat, it did not fall short of her usual standard of quality. My suit fit perfectly and there was no damage to it. Amazing Service! Not only are they very friendly and have reasonable prices, but they do exactly what they're in business for and then some! I brought in 2 light grey shirts that had RED and white birthday cake icing all over them....from our kid's birthday party A YEAR AGO! Never washed or even pre-treated the stains, just tossed em in a bag and forgot about them. When we remembered them, we knew they probably wouldn't come out, so we crossed our fingers. The owners of Plaza Cleaners told me they would try their hardest, but there was no guarantee, especially because of the bright red icing being on the shirts for almost a year. Went in to get a pair of jeans sewn to be tighter on my leg. I could tell she didn't want to do it because, as she said, "skinny jeans aren't in style". I told her I didn't care, and to please take my $100 pair of unworn jeans and make them smaller. I come in a week to pick them up, and she had sewn them so small (even after measuring me and pinning the jeans herself) that I could not even get them up past my calf! They may be good for dry cleaning, but definitely Not for alterations. And then they refused to replace my jeans! Don't waste your money. read more

I have a nice shirt that I got a large Hash Oil stain on. I took it to Gateway Cleaners to see if they could get it out. The lady behind the counter did not know if she could, but I told her that the dry cleaner that I used to go to in Fresno was able to get a Hash Oil stain out of a suit that I have. She agreed to try. And she succeeded! These people are GREAT! They saved my shirt from a near fatal stoner mistake. Remember always be honest with your doctor, lawyer and dry cleaner. Well, this is my first ever negative Yelp review. I've gone here 5 times. The very first time I went here, their machine tore the zipper and flap off the front of my dress pants. They did their best to repair the damage, and they didn't charge me for the cleaning, but those pants were worth well more than the bill. The next 3 of the 4 times I went there, I had to send something back because it hadn't been cleaned properly. One of those times, it came back clean the second time around. The other two times, they said they tried again, but the stains wouldn't come out. The stains on both of the ties that they claimed were indelible were removed by another dry cleaner ten miles away. Imagine that. Their turn times are good, but when you have to keep sending stuff back, or it gets ruined, what good is a quick turn around? I would look elsewhere for cleaning. read more

I've been living in this city for many years and have tried just about every dry cleaners that exists. One dry cleaners I patronized for 10+ yrs, until they switched owners and service went down hill. They tore 8 dress shirts in less than a year. And when I only asked for reimbursement on 2, because they were brand new, the owner said they would no longer clean my clothes, because they were too expensive! After I switched to another local dry cleaners, 10 of my dress shirts shrank in about an 8 month period! Forget about the fact that I overlooked the quality of the press. The owner said he received several complaints about it, but for months couldn't determine the cause. He later said he believed it was the soap. But when they allegedly changed soap, I was still having the same problem. Goodbye! I've now been patronizing Gateway cleaners since September. I only wish I would have found them sooner. So far, this business has done a spectacular job at cleaning and pressing my clothes. They even catch and replace missing buttons, defective zippers or tears. They called me to verify if I wanted them to fix a pair of pants. No dry cleaner has ever done that unless you bring it to their attention. I've received all my dry cleaning on time and the owners and staff are very friendly. I hope this quality of service doesn't change anytime soon. I would highly recommend this business to anyone wanting quality dry cleaning. read more

This cleaner started very good, but after 2yrs the quality of their workmanship has gone down hill. I took a comforter there thinking I would have it cleaned, but only after 2x's of returning it. I thought I would try them again, taking a suit I has made. I wanted it cleaned & pressed the taylor markings were there. I asked if they could remove them, because they had came out in the past with dry cleaning, then told the clerk that they would come out with "plain water". When I returned the were markings were still there. Pressed, but questionable about the cleaning it took 2 more visits before my suit looked as if they did what I paid them to do. I have been taking my dry cleaning here for the past couple of year and have always been happy with their dry cleaning services. It wasn't until recently that I started coming here for alterations, and now they are my go-to place for both! Dry Cleaning - They are consistently fast and affordable. They have always taken great care of my dry cleaning needs, and even make special effort to get tougher stains out. I have brought many work shirts here that had color stain bleeds from the suits I wear, and they have always been great at spotting them out and making extra effort to get the stains out. My suits are also so clean and nicely pressed when I pick them up, and they are always ready when I need them (whether it be next day or next week service.) They are also very affordable, and it's always "easy in, easy out" when dropping off and picking up my items. Alterations - This is where I feel that Gateway Cleaners really shine. I work for a lot of high end clients that provide me with some pretty expensive uniforms that I need to have altered to fit me like a glove. I used to go to the lady downtown, but recently that shop has been closed so I decided to take my uniforms to Gateway since I needed major alterations done in very short notice. I received my uniform literally a week before I was to wear it at work, and needed one dress to completely altered a size down to fit me (it had very complex design and construction) as well as two shirts to be taken in on the sides. I needed all this done in less than a week. I came back 2 days before the dress and shirts were done, and brought in an additional pair of pants that needed alterations as well. I picked up everything the morning before I was to leave on this business trip, tried on the dress at Gateway while I was there since it was the hardest piece to alter, and everything fit perfectly! I was so happy that I jumped for joy and hugged the lady that was working there. In less than a week they were able to make my clothes look as though they were custom made just for me, and all the pieces fit me beautifully. Sherry (the lady who works there) is also great at asking how you would like your clothes to fit you. For example, my suit slacks needed to be hemmed up and she showed me a couple of different lengths that would fit with the heels I was wearing. Since they are at a very conveniently location, I will continue to bring my clothes here for dry cleaning and alterations. Between me and my husband, and all of our work uniforms, suits and dresses, I have been visiting Gateway Cleaners almost once a week lately for our dry cleaning and alteration needs. The people working there are always so friendly and happy to see us, and I have been more than pleased with their work. read more

For my money, this cleaners is one of the best I've ever experienced. I came to this cleaners about three months ago based on yelp reviews rating it number one. I figured all those reviews couldn't be wrong so I decided to check them out. I took my black wool suit here and a black dress shirt. Both Calvin Klein and both slim fit. When I picked them up they both looked newly purchased. I kid you not. And if that wasn't enough, the next time I brought some slacks that had a button missing on the pocket and part of the hem had come loose. Not only did they beautifully clean the slacks, they replaced the pocket button and hemmed the pants for no extra charge. Wow, that is customer service if I've ever seen. I will definitely be going back as long as his cleaners is in business. For my money there isn't a better one. read more
