This place is great! Found them on Resy. Apparently it's been here many years but I never go to this part of town. We had a reservation but the place is fairly big so we didn't need it. For our appetizer order, I started to say we want the platter but she knew before I even said it. Haha. Must be a popular dish. I had seen it in reviews - looked like it comes with many items! We cut everything up so we could all get one bite of everything; a couple items had two or three whole pieces so we each got a few bites. The sauces are extra charge but definitely get them. The chutney is so good and whatever that spicy brown sauce is, is really good. I ordered for the table- shrimp korma, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, palak paneer, aloo Gobhi, lamb kadai, dal makhani, garlic naan, garlic cheese naan and paratha. It was a lot of food!! The dishes came with basmati rice. It was so much rice, our server didn't bring it all- instead she packed it up to go for us from the start. In the end, we finished nothing. We split the left overs- they brought us two containers for each curry so we didn't have to mix anything. And we got styrofoam containers for the breads and rice, and our to go rice as well. We shared the mango mousse cake- very nice, not too sweet, definitely mousse consistency. We sat and talked throughout the dinner. They had quite a few other tables so our server was running around. She kept apologizing to us but we were in no hurry. It was fine. We enjoyed our time. This place is good. We also like Mynt, Tamarind and Jala. I would say the prices here are better than Jala and on par with Tamarind. We do not like Tamara in Lake Mary - expensive and not that good. We would definitely come back here. Service is good, food is great, prices are reasonable and there's a lot of paneer and meats in the curries. A lot. A lot more than most places. And you can avoid the traffic and bad parking situation of winter park. I would recommend this place. Parking is plentiful. I did not use the restroom so I can't speak on that. They have some music playing which can be a little loud. Restaurant was clean. They were very responsive by phone when we typed the address in wrong and got lost. Oops. Haha. Trying a new place near the Altamonte Mall. Full service restaurant (with a full service bar) and no buffet. So I'm expecting higher quality food for sure! Inside, the place is really nice, almost formal. Dark dining room with nice tables and booths. Cool artwork and lamps. Service was very interesting. Our host, maybe owner(?) was super chatty. I prefer service to be get and get out promptly but she was recommending items, asking questions, and determining herself what we really wanted. Hey, maybe some people really like that to get a great experience. I found it a bit much but she was super nice. We got the veggies platter appetizer which was fantastic. The server really pushed the lamb samosas which were fine but I should have passed. And for entrees we got butter chicken, tikka masala veggies, and shrimp korma with garlic naan and a fantastic plate of basmati rice. The meal was great! The sauces/gravies were so delicious. When the Food is a 5, But the Service is 1... As the title suggests, the only reason the review gets a 3 is because the food was amazing. My husband and I arrived around 5:40 for our Valentine's Day reservation. We were seated right away, but that was the only positive to the service all night long. After about 15 minutes of being seated, we noticed a QR code that presented a digital dining option. We scanned it and ordered our appetizer, which came out about 20 minutes later. 40 minutes after arrival, we still had no water after asking for it once. This confused us because everyone around us was being waited on and taken care of. Finally after asking for water 3 times, including going up to the bar, we received water only after finishing the appetizer. We placed our entree orders on the digital platform and did not receive our meal for an entire hour later. Once again, we were very confused because EVERYONE around us kept getting their food, even those who arrived an hour or more after us. In addition, we asked for boxes 3 times before finally receiving them. Thankfully, we were able to pay on the app because who knows how long that would have taken. As for the positive, our food was amazing. The vegetable platter appetizer was yummy. We also enjoyed the butter chicken, chicken tiki masala, and naan. The chicken dishes were some of the tastiest Indian food we've ever had. If it hadn't been for the food, this review would be at a 2. As we were leaving, a couple employees said sorry to us for being so busy. Of course, they were busy for Valentine's Day, but that is when you should be on your best game. Busy is ok, but the fact that we had NO SERVER the entire night and seemed to be forgotten compared to other guests was very disappointing. I will mention that a couple next to us seemed to have a similar experience, maybe it was just part of being seated in the back corner. The digital dining option is amazing and we are not opposed to it, but this option needs to be made crystal clear to the guests. This needs to be improved as there wasn't even an option to order water on it. We have discussed trying take out here again because of how amazing the food was, but we will never be back to dine in. read more

What an absolute treasure. Drove by this place so many times. Said one day... today was the day. Don't sleep on this place. What amazing helpful service. Only thing I would say is my fault but spicy level could have been better. Next time medium hot level. But I was able to taste all the ingredients in my vindaloo and bf tiki Marsala. Love this place the food has been consistent for years unlike other Indian restaurants that have cut back on their food and the quality. I had landmark and Josh it was delicious. My husband had chicken tikka. I actually had to order him too because he liked it so much.. I also ordered extra butter sauce so I could mix it with the leftover rice to make it another meal, which was good. The only downside I did not like is when you pull them it is an AI attendant who stated they do not have lamb Rogan Josh they let me talk to someone in the restaurant who stated that they did. I came here in Valentine's Day and got seated within 10 mins not bad and we shared a sample platter that has simoas with chicken and some other veggie food which was good. Got a mojito that was great! Food did take long about 1 hour 30 mins but the girls that worked there saw I kept looking around and said I looked stressed out and frustrated and comped us 2 free drinks and an appetizer so that was nice of her. I got the butter chicken and we shared the garlic naan bread and everything was so good one of the best Indian food I've had!!! Craving curry one night and place an order on their website. They bring it out to the car if you opt for curbside pick up. Quick and easy! I picked three types of naan to have with our meal. Garlic naan, butter naan, and cheese naan. For entrees we ordered two chicken tikka masala, and one chicken Kashmiri. All portions were generous as we had enough food for a family of 4 and leftovers for the next day. The rice is a great base for all of the entrees and curries. The kids love the tikka masala and all of the naan we tried. This was my first time trying their cheese naan and I will definitely be getting it in the future. I've also had their chicken korma and butter chicken. (Can you tell I like chicken?) The Mango Lassi is great too! If you're looking for Indian food this is the spot. This place is 100% a hidden gem. Food is always amazing!! I will be honest and say service isn't the best but maybe that's a cultural thing, but the food 100% makes sup for it. Portions are very large so come ready to eat or share with others. Food is so good I often times don't even remember to take a picture!! (As you can see we ate everything in the picture below). I always get the Chicken tiki masala with a side of rice and garlic Nana bread. Me and my boyfriend are able finish it off (keep in mind he eats A LOT) but if i go alone I ALWYAS have leftovers. The ambiance felt unwelcoming, and the service only became noticeably friendlier after we paid. The food was also disappointing--it just didn't stand out and the dhal soup was old which is why they added lemon and my wife is Indian shes never had dhal soup with lemon. We've had much better Indian food at Friends Indian Cuisine on Semoran. To make matters worse, several menu items were unavailable when we visited, which limited our options. We also ordered chai tea that cost nearly $5, but it was simply hot water with a tea bag, which was very disappointing for the price. Overall, this experience wasn't worth it. The food here was actually pretty good -- I'd rate it an 8/10. Unfortunately, the service really brought down the experience. I was accidentally served the wrong plate of food and didn't realize it right away. After I had already started eating, the person I was with noticed she had the wrong meal and told our server. The server then took our plates and brought them directly to the other table they were meant for -- even though some of the food had already been eaten. Afterward, she brought us our correct meals but told me I could only have two pieces of naan since I had eaten some from the previous plate. Really? Although they're on the expensive side, it definitely makes sense because the quality of food is just that great! Gateway to India has traditional Indian food, such as naan, butter chicken and tandoori chicken. And if you have a picky eater with you, they do have chicken tenders and fries. On our last visit, we added garlic naan and for six dollars we only received one 10 inch piece of naan that had essentially no butter and no garlic. Hands down some of the best Indian food I've had (although, I've literally never been to India, so you know..). Anyway, although the building itself is not the most appealing, the food is to die for. We had dinner on a Friday night here. The restaurant is decorated nicely, has comfortable seating, and clean bathrooms. The restaurant is nice & relaxing, unlike other restaurants that tend to get very loud and chaotic on Friday nights. I appreciate after a long week of work the ability to go out and enjoy and cold glass of Sauvignon Blanc with delicious food. This is a carry out experience review. Ordered two mains: biryani with lamb, chicken and shrimp. I ordered mild-medium but it was still a bit on the spicy side. Note that this is my first time going to Gateway so I'm learning their spice levels. I also did the tandoori chicken. I sort of liked it. I have had it elsewhere where it was better in my opinion. I returned to Gateway to India with a friend to try out the outdoor seating and get an additional Indian food fix. I had the Tandoori salmon with a side of plain saag (they priced it like the spinach soup). It was delicious! We also got Naan and roti bread. We ordered a bottle of the Malbec which to our surprise, came out (1) already open - usually they open the bottle in front of you; (2) the malbec was from France of all places; and (3) it tasted watery. Despite the wine disappointment, the food was very good and service was also decent. I'd definitely return! read more
