Ok. This is not a Gastro pub. A Gastropub is a specific kind of PUB. The word pub implies beers. Like more than one or even more than a few on tap! It also implies a certain ambience. They had one beer on tap when I visited. Fortunately, it was a hazy IPA, which I do like The food was good - yes I could even say the food itself could have earned the label GASTRO from the special menu items that were available. But the PUB part itself was seriously missing. We ordered from the kids menu as remember we were going for Gastpub type food. And other items on the menu seemed more special. We got chicken tenders and fries ...typically with a Gastropub it is more specialized local fresh but still pub type fare Also, the ambience. It was more shabby chic girlfriend come to tea or coffee vibe. GATHER as the name should have been a clue - especially with the lovely font. Again, don't get me wrong - this place was good but NOT a Gastropub. Service was also ok - really, not trying to be harsh but it was a bit underwhelming. Tucked away with plenty of parking. Went in last night @7pm with 10 people . Everyone in town seemed to as well. They were a little overwhelmed but we had patience. I said just get us drinks and we will be happy. Maybe 15mins goes by and they come take our order. Pepsi was our waitress. So polite and friendly. We had had eaters that were substituting and adding things to their dishes. The staff nailed it!! Food was incredible!! Plenty to take home. I ordered the tortellini with rotisserie chicken in a cream white sauce. Absolutely delicious! Wish I could give it 10 stars! We moved to the area at the start of the year and are still working on trying out all the food places in the area. Restaurant is located in a business complex. It was not what I expected when i hear the word gastropub. It looks like it would be a cute bakery or ice cream shop. Staff was very friendly and we were able to get seated right away. We chose to sit at the bar top, but they also have booths and tables. Our food came out incredibly fast. I had the blackened shrimp salad and my husband got their special, which was the french dip sandwich, which we were told is very popular. My salad was great, however if I got it next time, I would get dressing on the side. For my personal taste, it was a little too much. The one thing I was surprised with was the bill. My entree was about 20 and my husbands was 35 and he got 1 cocktail. With tip bill ended up being over 80, which is high for 2 people, however it seems ingredients are fresh and local. Plus I am supporting a small business, so I feel good with that. I would like to come back again for their brunch. read more

Finally on a beautiful sunny morning the family and I were able to make our way over. We were sat right away and table set as we were seen coming to. I order the cinnamon French toast, coffee, and Oj. The French two French toast comes with powder sugar and a cream cheese icing and was just enough we're you could enjoy it without be so overwhelmed with sweetness. It comes with a little side of strawberry jam and gave it a whole another experience and amazing taste. It also comes with egg choice and cut home potatoes. It was very filling. The wife and kiddo shared the pancakes, egg, and potatoes. They took one of the two pancakes home as they were so fluffy. Their customer service is absolutely amazing and made me almost like I was back in a south restaurant. Hands down a recommendation to visit enjoy. read more

This is probably my favorite restaurant in town for many reasons. I am puzzled by some reviews that have had bad service, because in my 8 years of living in Yelm, service has always been stellar. One reviewer commented on the owners wife and her "sickly sweet" smile. While I don't know her name, this woman is as nice as she seems. I take my mother here who has dementia and speaks very slowly. Her and the other gentleman who waits tables is always so kind and patient. I can't decide if I like breakfast or dinner here better, both are amazing! Everything is made from scratch, and different from any other restaurant in the area. Even their OJ is freshly squeezed. When they say they're out of food, it's because they purchase a limited quality of fresh ingredients so that the food is just that...fresh. We love coming in the summer to sit outside in the patio area, with the little fountain running you almost forget that you're in yelm. The interior is very cute, but not very big so best to come early to beat the crowds. I think we will go for breakfast in the morning, hopefully the nice lady with the "sickly sweet smile" is there so I can tip her extra for what sounds like an arrogant customer. read more

This was our first time visiting. The food tasted delicious, but one of the slices of bell pepper in my wife's fettuccine came with most of the sticker still on it. That usually means they don't wash the vegetables and there was enough of the sticker to show that it wasn't organic so who knows what could have been ingested. We brought it to their attention and zero apologies were offered, just a "oh, that's the first time that's ever happened" followed by a chuckle. They never offered to comp anything, they did nothing to make it right, they only removed the cost of the uneaten dish and charged full price for the rest, so we absolutely will not be returning. read more

The feeling I get when I walk in is that they can't be bothered to care about providing good service, but they want to be trendy, maybe it's more important to have a nice instagram or facebook page. Went here for breakfast on a weekend. Few people here, no wait. We actually had thought they had closed/forgotten about them. Ordered the schnitzel breakfast special (basically a pork "chicken fried steak"). It was fantastic. Crispy, covered in very meaty gravy. Home fries were perfect. Bacon delicious. I also ordered a Bloody Mary and was just a touch disappointed in it. No salt on the the rim, no accoutrements, no discernible added special spices. Just a glass with vodka and Bloody Mary mix from a bottle, is what it tasted like. Meal itself was a touch more pricy than other local joints but not significantly so, and high quality food and service. Will be back but will save my $ and make breakfast cocktails at home! read more

Their web said they were open on Saturdays until 3 and the menu looked good, so we drove quite a bit out of our way from Olympia where we were staying. We arrived at 1:45 today and the group just finishing at an outdoor table told us the server had just closed and locked the door. The door was locked, though the sign was on. The shades were drawn so if someone was inside they ignored us when we were trying the door. Very disappointing. If you say you're going to be open you should be. It's not as if we were rolling up in the last 15 minutes. There was an advertised hour and fifteen minutes left of service. We won't be back. read more

Gastropub - the definition of a gastropub is quite simply a pub, bar or tavern that sells high-quality food. OK, I wouldn't really call this a pub, bar or tavern; probably more of a diner-like ambiance that sells pretty good food, most of the time. I can get past the name though; let's talk about the restaurant and food. The restaurant was recently sold by the original owner (late 2023). Most of the original menu was kept, with a few additions and tweaks in months to follow. The original owner/chef LOVED his filler veggies - bell peppers of all colors, large onion slices, mushrooms, etc. While this isn't necessarily a bad thing, I don't want to bite down on large green bell peppers and onions in my raviolis, shrimp scampi, chicken marsala, or even my taco salad. The filler veg became quite predictable and monotonous, which had me mainly ordering burgers for some relief. Burgers were and are delicious by the way. One thing I will comment on - they now serve Ranch...Love my fries dipped in Ranch, and it always baffled me why the original owner wouldn't come up with a scratch version in the spirit of keeping things homemade. Did I just mention fries? Let's talk about fries...The fries at Gather are appalling! Blond, not crisp, tasteless, mealy, and unremarkable. Super disappointing when you bite into one alongside a good burger. Suggest the owner check out some of the other highly trafficked spots nearby who serve exceptional fries (The Local, 507 Tap Room and Filling Station). At one point, Gather served decent fries, so not sure what happened here. From an expense perspective, prices are on the high side for Yelm. A single short rib over a starch of some sort priced at almost $50? That's very ambitious pricing! Let's talk about breakfast! This my friends, is worth getting up for! Whether you like a savory breakfast (make your own scrambles, eggs benedict, etc.) or a sweet breakfast (lemon ricotta pancakes), you are in for a treat! BTW, thank you, thank you for bringing back the sliced ham with the classic benedict! And while you are there, try their addictive spicey Bloody Mary! A shout-out to the owner/chef - he often comes out and mingles with the guests and is a pleasure to talk with. Things to improve upon: Your fries! Please! How about an updated website as opposed to Facebook with an up-to-date menu? Bring back your sandwiches! And please improve upon your ventilation...Often when you are frying up various food items, there is a nauseating smell of grease that permeates the place. read more

This review is based solely on the costumer service. This would have been a 2 star review if we were even able to eat there. We were greeted by I'm told the owners wife. She maintained a sickly sweet smile during every exchange my party had with her. This place does not do reservations however a table that would have seated my party of 3 was already reserved. "They just called and will be in shortly" said the still smiling female. We stood around the front door for about 5 minutes until she approached us and offered to let us sit at the unoccupied bar, with the caveat that we will not be able to obtain a table if we sat at the bar for a drink. So we were directed to a small love seat looking couch past the bar to wait. This is when I approached the bar to order a beer for myself and a glass of wine for another in my party. The bar tender was about to serve me until the female server stoped him. I asked if it was a law or policy preventing me from ordering a drink while waiting. She said a policy due to different reasons. Due to the fact that she was maintaining the sickly sweet smile I though that she would be able to take a minor joke when I said "your policy is inconvenient and I'm not sure if I like it". She offered to seat us at the bar again and I declined saying we will wait for a table. She then said have a nice evening. I sat back down confused about the bizarre exchange when she motioned for the female in my party to approach so she can kick us out. The reason being was that she felt highly threatened by me and felt unsafe with me in the place. We felt an undertone of hostility from her from the moment we enter the place and felt that she was singling us out. This place is my friends favorite place and the food is great, it is unfortunate that this places is spoiled due to the behavior of a single overindulged server. Totally a hidden gem! We passed by this place on the way to a site for business. It's not located in the main streets, but it's easy to find with the help of Yelp. We ordered 3 different kinds of sandwich and burger and they all tasted amazing! The 5 alarm sandwich that ordered was with the right mix of heat and sweetness to the taste while the chicken was super juicy and fresh! The side salad was almost like a full salad that was fresh and with all the colorful and mix of flavorful ingredients such as grapes and goat cheese. I wish we have this restaurant in So. I mean it's really nice and clean but it doesn't match the overall vibe and menu... if that makes sense. Idk, maybe it's the lighting that throws me off. Gather Gastropub advertised their Valentine's Day dinner for two on Facebook so we decided to give it a try. So glad we did! Our meal was delicious! Perfectly cooked and beautifully plated. Try the scalloped potatoes, they are amazing! The service was warm, friendly and very prompt. Be aware, they strictly adhere to the mask mandate, but are very polite about it. Absolutely delicious! Everything was above and beyond what I'd expect from a restaurant in Yelm. It easily beats all the restaurants I've eaten at in Seattle. We will be back for brunch! The interior has a beach-y feel to it but the food knocks it out of the park. I doubt there is any better in Yelm. Crispy chicken, fresh salads, juicy burger, and the steak and shrimp cooked just right and lightly seasoned. Dessert was made in house and picture perfect in presentation and delectable. Amazing are just a few words that come to mind when I think about Gather. A friend has been bragging about this place for awhile, so I thought I would stop in and check them out. Quaint little place with an outside patio, when the temperature is not 85 degrees probably a nice place to sit. They offer a full bar and claim to have very good mixed drinks. Too early for me this afternoon. The lunch menu is salads, soups, sandwiches and burgers. Dinner starts at 4pm, with a much larger menu. I have heard their short ribs and lamb were things to order then. For lunch, I ordered the Thai chicken sandwich that was downright amazing, tender chicken with a plethora of taste and a good-sized portion. You had our choice of fries, soup or salad. I went with the salad and I was very pleased as well. I usually don't rave on about a sandwiches, because chicken is usually is boring and overcooked and then they don't really do it for me, but these guys might have just got my number one spot for hot subs. I cannot wait to try them for dinner. So, If I was you, I would check them out, you will definitely not be disappointed. read more
