This is such a unique spot in downtown Omaha with great vibes. If you're looking for a cute date night, fancy dinner with family, or a chill lunch spot, Gather is the place to be. The service was top notch and our waitress was friendly with plenty of suggestions. We ordered plates to share amongst the three of us and left feeling satiated. The Caesar salad could have used more dressing in my opinion but the ingredients tasted fresh. The wild mushroom toast was savory and ingredients meshed very well together. The pork buns is my favorite dish and everything in it is made so perfectly. The textures and flavors all make it the perfect bite every time. The bison and elk bolognese were also both delicious. The bison was cooked perfectly medium rare. The elk was also well prepared and did not taste gamey at all in my opinion. The drinks were also well prepared and great accompaniments to the meals. Definitely check out then herb garden downstairs at least once because it's very cool and proof that their ingredients are as fresh as can be. Each entree has a unique combination of main dishes and sides that the chef specifically pairs. If you want to substitute an item, you can. But, the chef will report back with what you are losing/gaining in the trade. Garden - They have this amazing hydroponic garden in the restaurant's basement. All of their salads come from this incredible garden. It is worth going downstairs to look at it. Fried Chicken - I had the Fried Chicken with Noodles. The Fried Chicken was MASSIVE. I normally finish any meal I order. I only got through two-thirds of the chicken and 3/4 of the noodles. The chicken was crisp on the outside but extremely tender. The flavor was good even the day after in the microwave. Pro Tip - There is a parking lot within one block of the restaurant. Pro Tip - The restaurant is in the old market, a great area to walk around and explore. So make sure you give yourself 30-45 minutes before or after your meal to explore. Gather is an incredible concept of a restaurant as the name alludes to their mission of cooking with ingredients that are mostly grown "in-house". They recommend coming 15 minutes early for your reservation (Definitely make one for the busier nights) as you can see their garden underground. It's definitely a treat! For drinks, I got with the gather mule and it was great. My partner got the Becky and also enjoyed it albeit was a very small drink. For appetizers, I got the Brussel sprouts and the Burrata. These Brussel sprouts are absolutely incredible, some of the best appetizers I have had. The Burrata on the other hand was subpar. I will definitely be getting the Brussel sprouts every time I come here and try my hand at some of their other appetizers. For my main course, I got the truffle pasta which was phenomenal. It is rich in flavor with thoroughly cooked mushrooms that add the perfect flavor to the dish. We also tried the Fig & Farro Salad. I typically don't order salads but wanted to try one as their greens were locally grown - was definitely worth trying! I am curious to try their beets salad next time I come back. Note- we gathered at Gather to celebrate a college graduation. A room was reserved and we ordered from a prearranged menu (pictured). So, there is a larger menu choice but we had a limited number of items to choose from for dinner. In sharing that, we were required to order our entree several weeks in advance. However, when we got there, we had to reorder which I thought was a little clunky and unnecessary. The server gave an explanation about needing the information to serve the correct person, blah blah. Well, there was no interaction about the order- the vegans in our group were served apps and salads with cheese. And, when we served, a couple of us were handed the wrong entree. I suspect that there was a hiccup in the hostess/group sales part of the execution of our reservation and the restaurant was scrambling to get that smoothed over without sharing the situation. We are adults, be honest and grace will be given. All 10 of us were pleased with the food. That was a unanimous conclusion with one exception, the doughnuts were a miss- over cooked, flavorless, and the sauces were clunky to pry out of the small bowls provided. Kinda stumbled up on this place and what a NICE surprise! Had Brussel sprouts and carrots for an appetizer. Loved the Brussel Sprouts but the Carrots were a disappointment. The carrots were good but they were really small and buried in leafy greens. I felt like the carrot dish was more of a salad with the mountain of greens they sat on and the size and amount of carrots. Just not enough carrots on that dish. Go for the brussel sprouts which were plenty for a table of 3 to share. I ordered the pork shank. I was told it was delicious and falls right off the bone. Unfortunately the pork shank I got was not the case but management made it right apologizing and removing it from our bill. I really feel like it was just a fluke that it happened. WTF Omaha? This place is FIRE. I was seriously impressed by my dining experience. I came to town with a bit of an elitist attitude, but Gather was truly amazing. Not "good for Omaha", but just plain amazing. We rolled in with our kids, without a reservation and we were greeted warmly. The space was really cool, very industrial modern, dark and moody - but still warm and inviting. We ordered a bunch of stuff - cocktails, glasses of wine, a steak, an order of fries, grilled veggies, and the fried rice. Everything was excellent. There wasn't a ho-hum dish. The service was excellent as well. Our server was so nice and accommodating with our family tornado. I very highly recommend this place if you are visiting or live in the area. read more

This was my first time to Gather. It has a nice esthetic look throughout the restaurant. They have a garden/farm in their basement which is cool and you can go see. The service was ok. We did go right at open (5:00pm) so maybe the staff wasn't awake, but they weren't super inviting. The menu is extremely limited as far as variety and goes. They did have some gluten free options, but again, limited. The most normal looking item on the menu was a steak for $51. It was a fun place to try but wouldn't necessarily be on my "have to come back" list. read more

I've been to Gather a couple of times and I am just so in love with this spot. It's easy to understand why in its early tenure, it's immediately become a beloved staple in the old market area. The food and drink menu is vast and there really is something for everyone on the menu. The fact their fresh ingredients are made in house is insane! You can actually taste the difference. IT is on the higher end of the price point, but very much worth the quality of the food and the servers are extremely attentive and knowledgable! Okay, so I wasn't in love with this place. I really wanted to be because I heard so many great things about it. I wanted to do the elk bolognese but the Gather burger was calling my name. I am happy I went with the burger. It was very juicy and done right. The flavor was good and the French fries were perfect. I enjoyed the Brussels. I always get Brussels sprouts when I eat out and these were great. The pork buns were just okay. They weren't warm and the pork was chewy and fatty. The Korean wagyu looked promising. Very impressed with the plate presentation however the wagyu was TOUGH. My bf could not cut the meat. I tried a piece and could not chew it. The server was really nice and accommodating and offered to make a new one. He stated it looked like the meat was over done. The second one came out and was a little better but still too tough. I had a wonderful meal at Gather. This was the first restaurant that the concierge at the Farnam recommended and I understand why. This is truly what I want when dining out, fresh, thoughtful, and delicious food paired with a comfortable atmosphere. Deciding what to order was truly a challenge, I persevered though. To start, I ordered the Mediterranean burrata, which was served with fresh naan, olives, fig jam, basil hummus and herbs. It was delicious! Last night's celebration over a superb dinner was nothing short of spectacular. First off, the service was excellent. Our table wasn't ready right away but that gave us time to view the garden in the basement of the restaurant! I got the fried chicken - the golden-brown (on the softer side) crust perfectly encased tender, JUICY chicken that was seasoned to perfection. Paired with (anything but traditional) mac n cheese that elevated the comfort food experience. Others in the group ordered the BISON SHORT RIB, TRUFFLE PASTA , KOREAN MARINATED IMPERIAL WAGYU, and the MARINATED PORK RIBEYE which I didn't get a picture of some dishes since I was elbows deep in my own! I was first introduced to Gather through a Yelp event last year and have been back a good handful of times since - with all different groups of people for all types of occasions from casual to celebratory. I loved sitting on their back covered patio and the inside has several different areas of seating. I bellied up to the large bar on one occasion and had a full dining experience there as well. I have loved everything that I've tried there except for maybe the appetizer fries. They weren't quite crisp and didn't seem up to par with everything else on the menu. My favorites have been the Mushroom & Melted Brie Toast, the Crispy Brussels, the Truffle Pasta, the Elk Bolognese, the Fried Chicken with Mac and Cheese, the Vegan Noodles, all of the desserts and the list goes on and on. Researched some top spots in Omaha while I was on a business trip and this one popped up on the list and it did not disappoint! Really awesome to see restaurants that support locally owned farms and source most of their menu from them. Their kitchen had a unique, open design to it so you can see some of their behind the scenes cooking and also a big hydroponic basil garden! I ordered the wagyu burger with a beet and goat cheese salad which were both delicious! The burger was tender and juicy and you can taste the different flavor of the wagyu. I really went out of my comfort zone on the salad since I'm not a fan of beets or goat cheese haha but I wanted to try greens that were grown right out of their basement hydroponic garden! We made our reservations on Open Table. It wasn't too busy, but we also went at about 5p on a Friday. If you do go on a peak time for dinner make sure to accommodate time to find parking. There is a parking garage about a block away if you can't find meter parking. Restrooms are available and also very clean! The Brussel sprouts were nicely roasted, flavorful, and definitely a favorite! Got the truffle pasta. Very fresh tasting. I would recommend adding a protein to it like chicken! Service was excellent! Our friends and us can't stop talking about how it's possible for a restaurant to have that quality of food and have literally some of the worst service - from manager to server- we've ever experienced. They were not busy on a Saturday night and now we know why. 15 minutes to get menu and drink orders in. Over a half hour longer, and after having to get up and ask - for bother of wine/drink order to come out. (Only 4 of us in our party). Another 15 or so minutes for two out of three apps to show up. Had to ask for/remind about the 3rd app. Still had to wait/ track down the server to put in the dinner order. Never came back to see if we wanted any more drinks...like it was really comical. I've had many in my lifetime and this one is definitely top 3. A good balance of savory, spicy from the kimchi and Fresno peppers, and sweet! Korean waygu was great.
