Some outdoor seating which works real well. Only complaint: they don't allow patrons (even those spending often and generously) to use their Internet. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is I don't think I've ever been to a coffee shop that didn't offer Wi-Fi. My friend and I planned a breakfast date for 10:30am. I had always wanted to try this place out and it did not disappoint. It exudes a cuts country charm upon walking in, with the smell of espresso whaffing through the dining area. Photographic art adorn the walls. The place was busy. Customers are divided by sit-down and togo orders. I would have enjoyed a large cappuccino before my meal, but settled for a dark house roast to which I helped myself. We got a small table against the wall with an AC outlet right under the table. I ordered Biscuits and Gravy that came with two eggs and potatoes. My friend had an omelette that came with two slices of toast and potatoes. My meal was well spiced but a tad too salty. And then shortly after leaving the cafe my stomach felt turbulence that thankfully was eased with a 1.5 mile walk on a nearby trail. read more

First off, the very fact that they're open in Patagonia on a Monday, when most of the eateries here take off Monday and Tuesday (and some even Wednesday), made these tourists very happy! Add that to being the only such place that has an outdoor patio where dogs are allowed, and they were the perfect (and only) choice. (They close in the early afternoon, so don't dawdle.) The service was family-style friendly and prompt. I was pleasantly surprised to be handed a lunch menu, as I had expected they were a breakfast/brunch-only place. I was tempted by the roast beef and cheese sandwich with horseradish (not one of my usuals), and the peanut and ginger slaw, which I ordered because I'd never heard of anything like it. Both were delicious. DW ordered a Cuban (not one of her usuals) with the pesto pasta salad. She pronounced them perfect. The waitress brought out a complimentary "pup cup" for our retriever, because he was such a big, well-behaved schmoozer. I dined here for the first time today. I ordered the chorizo and eggs with potatoes. It was really good...the chorizo and eggs had the perfect amount of spice and the potatoes were well-cooked and flavorful. My only disappointment is that they only offer flour tortillas and, even though they gave gluten free bread, I am not a bread fan. It sure would be nice if corn tortillas were an option for those with Celiac Disease. That would have made the meal perfect. On a recent day trip, my partner and I happened to be in Patagonia at lunch time. As always, we consulted Yelp and decided to try Gathering Grounds. My review is based on our carry out experience. The restaurant also offers sit-down service inside and outside. A sign next to the door indicates that all staff have received COVID-19 vaccinations. As a result, they are not masked. As soon as we stepped inside, our eyes were greeted by a large case of delicious-looking baked goods. We ogled the numerous pie varieties while we waited our turn at the register. The cashier handed us menus and patiently answered our questions. We were pleased to see several vegan and vegetarian options in addition to the standard sandwiches and soups. We each ordered the hummus wrap and a piece of strawberry-rhubarb pie. Before ringing our order up, the cashier said it would be 30 minutes for our order to be ready and asked if that was ok. Since no cooking was involved, we were a bit surprised at the long wait time. They were very busy, and we had no desire to eat anywhere else in town, so we said yes. After browsing in some neighboring artist shops, we came back 30 minutes later, and our order was boxed and waiting for us. The wrap consisted of a thick layer of black bean hummus topped by fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers inside a fresh flour tortilla. I choose regular potato chips as a side, and my partner selected potato salad. We both thought the wrap was good and filling. The strawberry rhubarb pie was very tasty. The rhubarb was chopped finely, and the sweet-sour flavors perfectly balanced. The crust was flaky with a touch of cinnamon. I'd give 5 stars for sure if the service for items not requiring the grill was just a bit quicker. We'll be back. read more

Waited forever for an employee to serve me. They just stared at me with a expression on their faces that scream "WTF DO YOU WANT???" I was taken aback. The lady that walked up to me said that they didn't have breakfast and they weren't serving lunch yet. Lol. So, I guess they weren't serving my type? After talking to a few locals, I was told that racism is practiced and is alive & well in some of this town. I was told that I wouldn't be welcomed here & the Wagon Wheel. I tend to default to favorites when finding them on the menu, Biscuits and Gravy in this case, and Gathering Grounds has never disappointed!.. they come with a side of two eggs however you'd like them and roasted potatoes... as I was devouring my little feast on the patio, two different couples passed by and said something along the lines of "that looks like a good breakfast!" Our Airbnb host in Tubac recommended the pie in this bakery/coffee shop in Patagonia. I love pie but rarely eat it, I love good coffee and drink a lot of that. The strawberry-rhubarb pie at Gathering Grounds was fabulous, and paired excellently with my latte! What a treat! Hubby had an Americano and was very pleased. So often it is hard to find really good coffee when you are a stranger in town! We did not feel like strangers at this cafe. Everyone was very friendly and we felt at home. I often come here when taking the backroads to Nogales for work and stop for their outstanding Chai. Often it will be accompanied by a breakfast burrito. YUM! When taking the order, Andy (also the Mayor of Patagonia), heard us regarding the splitting plan. We were slightly concerned about how busy they were and anticipating a wait we decided to relax and accept it. We didn't have to wait. The food came out surprisingly prompt. The food was truly outstanding. The burger is made from LOCAL beef and delicious. The Cuban has house pulled pork and delicate ham. The French roll was flakey and seemed fresh baked. Our plates were split for us during plating including the sides. Who does that? No fighting who got more chips! LOL. I've eaten at all the establishments in Patagonia. There is no reason to go elsewhere. You will NOT be disappointed and will be completely satisfied and pleased with your experience. They also have a case full of fresh baked pies, cookies and pastries. There's a daily quiche to choose from for the real men out there. The coffee menu is extensive. Oat and almond are your dairy milk alternatives. There are a handful of bottle beer choices as well. Something for everyone. Don't drive through Patagonia without a stop here! read more

We went to the Paton Center for Hummingbirds (fantastic place!) and needed lunch and stopped here. My BLT was excellent and my husband loved his patty melt. Of course we "had" to get some goody.
