As with so many things Patagonia AZ, wander off the two main streets and there are hidden gems galore. And MorQ is well within that definition. It also happens to be across the way from the Hummingbird Sanctuary, so why not walk-off some of that brisket or ribs after a delightful lunch or dinner? The two of us shared a 1/2-rack platter with food to spare. The pork ribs were melt off the bone tender, the sauce was tangy with just the correct amount of zing. The coleslaw was perfectly dressed (not drowning) and we learned later that no sugar is added to the dressing, yet it was the perfect amount of sweet for the crisp and fresh cabbage. The mac and cheese was absolutely perfect, as well. The cheese was a sharp white and dressed appropriately for the occasion - understated, yet - WOW! None of that ooooy, gooey nachoey cheesey BS here! Finally, the corn muffin was just like what I grew-up with in Dallas. It was sweet and creamy and corn-y and just about everything an old school muffin cup should be! My only regret is that after so much good food, I had no chance to sample any goodies. However, the friendliness and generosity of time of the Proprietress made up for it! Finding hidden treasures like MorQ's makes the trip from Tucson to Patagonia worth it. read more

WiFi! WiFi!!! In this cell service and broadband dead zone, WiFi (albeit slow one) is a welcoming sight. The cafe has lots of pastries, sandwiches, ice cream, wine and beer available. The outside semi shaded patio is pet friendly. Service is absolutely friendly! Staff is so nice to offer our dogs water and snack. The Ovens of Patagonia was a blast. I really enjoyed the fun women in there, they were really friendly and personable and as far as the food goes, they even had a few gluten-free baked items, which were very good. The also had quite a good assortment of snack foods, sandwiches, salads (like egg salad and coleslaw), cheeses, local gifts, jewelry, coffee, even ice cream I think. I've been here several times & was extremely excited finding them. But each revisit has been kind of disappointing. Luv thy always hav oatmilk for my hot latte. Disappointing is as u buy and pay more for a larger cup thy don't increase the shots of expresso. So all u pay for is hot milk. Hmmm. Then my 3 apple crisps were almost empty of filling. Ovens of Patagonia has some of the best pastries I've ever had. I love walking in and seeing that display case full of goodies. Aside from the delicious muffins, cookies, danish, cinnamon rolls, etc...they also have a large variety of gifting items. They have a lot of kitchen gadgets, toys and AZ items. However had the WORST 2 girls working who looked to be 20 or 30 something's that were giggling and talking so much they could not be bothered to greet me nor could they even wait on me . Not to wait on him so he could get out the door but super weird flirting and droning on... I could tell he was embarrassed and uncomfortable. Finally they decided to kind of wait on me although their fascination and giggling about the firefighter was like 13 year old not older 20 somethings I feel terrible for the owner or baker as I am reluctant to go back as these girls were so awful . In retrospect wondering if the one was using coke or smoking weed as could not get my simple order straight and just so bizarre. The store has wonderful local books, interesting Arizona items as well as the fresh baked napoleons, muffins, pies, pastries of all sorts. I spotted this place the last time I was in town and the baked treats sign drew me in. We walked around the tiny gift shop checking everything out and then came to the baked goods case :) Everything smelled wonderful! They bake their own bread and pastries daily from cookies to croissants and danish. We chose a few croissants to bring home and a bottle of Ovens made lotion. The croissants were delicious as sandwiches and we wish we'd bought a few extra. The lotion I absolutely love as well, I bought the lavender milk & honey scent. I have spent a significant amount of time in Patagonia this year and have been very impressed with Ovens of Patagonia. First, they are always so welcoming and friendly. But the pastries and the food are wonderful! Homemade ice cream, pies, desserts, and sandwiches, along with salads on a daily basis. And on Friday's they offer home made pizza which I was very impressed with (sour dough crust!). I also had the pineapple tuna salad which was flavorful. They also have a selection of local beers and wines, as well as gifts and home decorations. Nice place to go in and order and do a little shopping while waiting! read more

We just got back from an afternoon hike just outside of town and stopped in to get some treats for the next morning's breakfast (we were camping out). After snooping around the small gift shop area we laid eyes upon the pastry case... we ordered a cinnamon bun, apple turnover, and a lemon bar. They all ended up being fantastic, we devoured the lemon bar immediately. The lovely woman working there noticed that I was a birder so we got to talking and she recommended a few places to go birding that were a bit more off the beaten track (there's a lot of birders around Patagonia). Heavenly fresh pastries and enormous delicious baked goods (as in get a larger size of jeans as soon as you get home DELICIOUS), perfect healthy daily-made sandwiches, hilarious gifts (Bacon Bandages are a must-have) and extraordinary local wines. The service at Ovens of Patagonia has always been superb. The lovely help is instantly available without being intrusive. If one of the previous reviewers had a problem listening to the young workers giggling, take a breath... sanctified air, you're in Patagonia! I'm 70-years-old. I have lived in New York City for 10 years, Los Angeles UGH except the vegetation) for 10 years and the south of France for a year. (No hurrying the French...)
