First time here. Gave it a chance instead of Applebees next door. I was pleasantly surprised. The mini burgers were really tasty, and I could get fresh vegetables for a side. The TVs are set up better here than next door too! It's open late which is also a plus. Every restaurant in downtown Eustis was closed by 8 pm last night (Sunday). read more

I have been to this place 3 times. Each time my husband and I get stares like nobody has seen interracial couple. The food was just ok the the first time to me. My husband liked it so we came back again. Tonight was the last time. We ordered fish and chips comes with 2 big pieces fish(that's what the waitress said), fries, and coleslaw. I asked if we could purchase extra piece fish.Waitress ask they said no because it's portioned ( what she doesn't know is they did it before). Fish came out not done, fry cold. What did they do take the fish and bring back 1 piece of fish over cooked. What happen to the portions that stopped us from getting extra piece? Yes they removed the meal. We stopped in on a Sunday Evening for a quick bite. We ordered Island Shrimp and Gyro. The Island Shrimp was served with some toasted bread slices, little bit spicy that was calmed down with the mandarin oranges-amazing. The Gyro was not edible, what little meat was on the pita was cooked well beyond recognition and there was no tzatziki sauce. The restaurant was not busy but our waitress was hard to track down. EUSTIS LOCATION: Hubby brought me here for my birthday lunch soon after moving back to the area, where his new job landed him. I was craving some deep fried mushrooms, and these were great - although a Lil kick to them. Then he had a half Salad of good porportion, and I had a Grilled Lemon-Pepper Chicken Breast with the Risotto Rice. They substituted for the pork chop in this order. It was delicious! The Risotto was so filled with asparagus that the whole plate was green goodness, sprinkled with an even greater greening of parsley, gourmet-like style, that just looked so appetizing ... It didn't disappoint. The Service was serious Lacking. A lady seated us. A few minutes passed, and a young man whizzed by, says his name is Doug and he'd be our Waiter -- then we never saw him again. Then a nice lady came to get our drink order, and ended up taking care of everything. She was mostly prompt and ok. We waited a long time for our check, but our waitress did bring drinks to go, which I always like. Seriously, the staff needs some waiting Training to improve the Service. They loaded his plate with tater tots and had to put his corn on another plate...and they game him 4 shrimp and 6 scallops....when we questioned it the weighted told us that it's supposed to be 5 shrimp and 4 scallops...PLUS he paid an extra $2 to blacken his seafood...haha this place is becoming such a joke. read more

We've been here quite a few times and we really do enjoy it. Draft beer is ice cold! They have dollar draft choices too and I think they vary. Too many over the top fried menu choices, so if you are watching your weight and you don't want to cheat, this is not the place to go. Appetizers choices I have had are the fried pickles (yum) and the Gators Tators (their take on potato skins). They are served up cubed in a bowl loaded with bacon, cheddar, and with a ranch sauce. The mahi mahi sandwich is divine...as is the monte cristo (according to my husband). I have also had the Cobb salad in an unsuccessful attempt to be calorie conscious. The salad is huge...enough for more than 2 people. Everything on it was fresh. Did not have dessert as we were way too full. Definitely recommend this place! Food is good ( although it use a few more healthy choices) and the service is excellent! Look for special events as well...for example, Friday is trivia night. read more

Was in Florida to visit my parents with my best friend and sons. My best friend wanted gator bites so we ordered 3 orders along with the Shrimp Po'Boy and Gator Nachos. My son went to pick the order up and was totally ignored by a number of servers so he finally requested the manager. The person that initially took his order came in from outside and retrieved our order. The manager took my son's complaint and the only thing he had to say was at least you have food for a couple of days. Unfortunately, my nachos were almost inedible, I was able to scrape some of the chili, cheese (what cheese I could find), lettuce and tomato off with a fork. Some chips were burnt and the rest were soggy, You can get better nachos at a Wendy's. The food is not that great and the service is worse. Even though i come often to see my parents this is not a place I will return to. On the way back from Ocala National Forest, decided to stop here with a companion for a bite to eat around 2pm on a quiet day. Promptly greeted and seated by the hostess. Our waitress seemed pleasant. First order of diet soda tasted flat. The waitress seemed to know this was the case before I even took a sip, as signaled by her facial expression just before I took a sip. She quickly came over and swapped it out with a different soda, which also tasted a bit stale. Our nachos took longer than it should've. Our waitress/bartender anxiously kept checking on us to see how we were doing and to reassure us that the food was coming out. In between this, she seemed to pay more attention to her friends at the bar and not really checking on the actual food in the kitchen. A different server brought our food out. Nachos tasted stale and old. Whatever - I was hungry, so I ate it. I ordered one of their newer menu items - quesadillas. Decent flavor. Seemed fresh enough for this type of restaurant. Overall, this particular Gator's left a "stale" taste in my mouth. I don't like being patronized by anyone, especially restaurant servers. I get it. You hate your job. You'd rather talk to friends during work. And yet people complain about not getting paid enough. Just do your job. Or get a new one. But don't pretend like everything's cool. read more

Rotten avocado, nasty drinks...and no more lunch menu. That pretty much summarizes our experience here, and we have visited more than once. Today, I was served a salad with rotten avocado (clearly visible on the plate), and had to send it back - yuck! Our Bloody Mary drinks were uber sweet, and went up a dollar in price...and they just eradicated the lunch menu. Turns out, they have new flooring to pay for (they had a giant hole that was covered by carpet...classy). Not sure what I find more appalling...the increase in price and the decrease in quality; or, the ambivalent manager/owner that sits in a booth with a MacBook and a scowl. He has never checked on patrons during our visits, and I wasn't apologized to be being served rancid food. Instead, we just got a delay as well as a higher tab. They were pickle CHIPS. chips, bitches! WTF is up with restaurants frying pickle spears? That ain't right. Nachos. Good but not the best I ever had. Alcohol. Yes, please. Okay, so they are not craft cocktails like my spoiled ass loves to much but they will most certainly do in a pinch. And the alcohol is cheap. Like there are $2 bottles sometimes. Wings, yes. YUM. Had late lunch there today, Food was not the best that I have had at Gators before. Issue with the menu stating one thing for drinks during happy hour and bill stating something different. Server told us that menus were old and had not been updated. Working with customer service, I have always been told that you tell the customer up front not here. Been going here now and then for the all-you-can-eat wings on Monday nights. It used to be $10, but they recently raised the price to $12. They also brought out the wrong order of wings and wrong dressing and tried to tell us that it was Bleu cheese instead of ranch. I love this restaurant because there menu is very expansive and has something for just about everybody. What went from being just a place that served chicken wings and draft beer has become a destination for those looking for great food and great suds. The menu now includes great meals such as chicken-n-waffles, macaroni and bacon burger, and a upscale grilled cheese sandwich. Of course I enjoy the classics such as their combo platter and of course the best gator tail in town. The bar is fully stocked and they have different sized drafts between a pint and a smaller 10 ounce for the very light drinker. The family environment is great on certain nights. They have nights designated for families which offer lower prices and I tend to see that weeknights are better for family affair than weekends. Plus they are the go to place where I live for the NFL season and host UFC events. The only downside to attending this place is that a group of regulars frequent this place daily. I don't nearly go to Gator's as much as I used to but every time I have gone there I see them. They are always at the bar and go out of there way to garner attention from the bartenders. Unfortunately the bartenders have no problem paying them back a lot of attention. I have worked in the restaurant industry before and understand how important it is to take care of your regulars. But this is Gator's Dockside and not Cheer's. On more than one occasion I have one of their crew get out and drive a car when they shouldn't of. It makes me feel unsafe and I am sure the families in attendance notice it too. Overall I will continue to frequent this establishment and hope they offer more sporting events and purchase the MLB package and WWE events. Baseball is huge during the summer and WWE is well awesome! I hopefully will see you there! read more

Don't do To-Go orders on a Tuesday. They have spots for To-Go pick up, but don't care if regular patrons are using them; so there really is no point in having the spaces. Since it is so busy, you'll have to look for a place to park. Then find one far away and give your food even more time to get cold. When I got in, I mentioned how I thought To-Go would be busier. The hostess asked why, and I said because all the To-Go pick-up spots are full. She simply laughed and said, "Yeah, trivia night. It fills up fast." She walks away to get my order, comes back, and picks it up from behind the front counter. Great, so it just sat for even longer cause you didn't know where it was. I walk all the way back to my car, food still getting cold. Get home to enjoy my now cold food. I had ordered two SWEET AND SPICY JALAPENO Burgers, neither which came with the fried jalapenos or onions straws, as they were supposed to. A bad run this time. I think I'm done here. read more

We started going to this particular Gators about 2 months ago. We were blessed to be sat in Amy's station and she is a treat. I have been in the restaurant business my whole life and I was a corporate trainer as well. Amy is fantastic. She is consistent, she always remembers you, can tell you the menu inside and out and pays attention to detail. We have never had a bad meal. The dockside dinner is a little bit of everything-the wings grilled are the bomb. We tried another one in Deland and we were so disappointed. Manager Paul follows up on his staff and we look forward to going out Saturday night, end of the week place for great food, awesome service and relaxation! The food is hit or miss depending on the night. I manage multiple food franchises so I usually work long hours and get home late. Unfortunately there's only two places open in the tri-city area to eat late. So, my wife and I head here. We get in the door and are informed by the hostess that they close at 11:00. It's 10:53. We turn around and go to the other place "Applebee's" where we learn Gators is actually open until Midnight. I decide to inform the manager. I call Gators and the hostess with bad timing answers the phone. I reach the manager who informs me that she was "literally right next to the door and didn't see anyone turned away". She then informs me that she doesn't appreciate me cussing at her hostess. Which never happened. I asked her if I had cussed since our conversation started, she said no. I asked if she thought the conversation had escalated or de-escalated since she got on the phone. She agreed that she hadn't really made things any better. I asked her if I hadn't cussed at her in the escalated discussion then what were the chances I cussed before things were escalated. She said I was lying about being informed about the store hours and about yelling at her staff. I can't wait to have the General Manager check the video in the morning to see us turned away 67 minutes before closing. In one bad experience, you guys lost a customer who has been dining for nearly a decade. Good job Danielle the manager on duty. read more

I had a burger that was really dried out and my husband had the gyro, which he said wasn't so great. Went here tonight with my husband, 3 yr old son and another couple. Had a great time! We were seated right away, service was fast and very friendly. The food was good, the fried items batter is awesome! Even my 3 yr old ate the onion petals and battered shrimp and really enjoyed them! One of our friends dining with us got the new chorizo burger and said it was just OK. The sliders were really yummy, and large portioned. Atmosphere was good, nothing special, but in the side dining area was extremely family friendly. My husband and his friend played a game of pool and drank a beer in the bar area, while my friend and my son and I finished eating. They were slightly harassed by an overly drunk patron over the pool table, but that can happen in an establishment with a bar. Overall I enjoyed myself and will go again. It's nice to have a place were the whole family can enjoy a meal. read more
