Went for bingo on a Thursday. Best to reserve a table in advance, as my party did, because it gets packed for this event. The later pots get up to over $1000, so hordes of people show up. Considering how busy it gets, I'd say the staff keeps up pretty well. Our server was on it, making sure I always had a drink and, she was patient with our indecision at times. It was the food that let me down, though. I got the gyro with onion petals. The size of the meal is impressive and, I was really enjoying the first few bites of the gyro until I got to the middle. Tasted like there was an entire block of feta midway. Overkill. Felt I could still taste it hours later. The onion petals were greasy lumps of batter mostly. A disgrace. To be fair, I didn't send them back. I certainly wouldn't order them again, though. This is a good spot to watch sports. Daily specials are budget-friendly. This isn't my favorite Gators, but nonetheless I've been a handful of times. It's clearly not as "classy" as Baldwin or Narcoossee, but I think it's the most local feeling. They have added some new games and claw machines which I definitely enjoy for when I bring my son. Food came out pretty fast, our server seemed new as she read back our orders religiously but she was effective. I was kind of weirded out by my cucumbers ... some were pitted and some were not and tomatoes looked iffy... wings were great, but for wings and salad and some fries for $80 ... idk I'd rather spend the money else where for quality. read more

BLUF: Not very good food and even worse service. Food: The mushrooms were extremely salty. I'm not sure how, but even the ranch was overly salty. The boneless wings were very rubbery, and the breading had separated from the chicken. As for the traditional wings, it was a mystery whether they'd arrive ice cold or so hot you could barely touch them. Service: It wasn't very busy when we arrived (Friday at 3:30 p.m., with only about seven occupied tables). The only employee we initially saw was the bartender. After waiting about seven minutes, the host finally came in through the front door and seated us. The only times we saw our waitress were when she brought our drinks, took our order, brought the check, and processed our payment. Meanwhile, another waitress had just started her shift and spent the entire time standing at the host stand talking. I know she had just started because she kept telling the host about it, talking about how she always makes great tips when she's a waitress and excited to see how much she gets today. At one point, another table walked up to her and asked if they could place their order because they had been waiting for quite a while. She replied, "Yeah, I'll let your waitress know you're ready to order." I understand that servers have assigned sections, but instead of helping, she turned to the two guys standing at the host stand and said, "I'm not taking her table I wouldn't get the tips." Looking around the restaurant, it was obvious we weren't the only frustrated customers. I'm not exaggerating when I say she sat there talking to the two guys the entire time I was there. Management should take a hard look at both staffing and employee training. More importantly, staff should be supporting their team rather than standing at the host stand chatting and flirting while customers wait. read more

Gators Dockside was a fabulous place for our work holiday get together! They were able to accommodate us with 1 days notice! They and the tables set for us and served us drinks and food quickly. I ordered the Southwest Egg Rolls which were the perfect combo with the Boodles Blueberry Rickey. Quite a few from our group ordered the combo platter which was a bit too much fried for my liking but everyone enjoyed it. I snagged a bite of the pretzel and queso and will def be ordering that next time. A colleague of mine goes every Wednesday for Trivia! Absolutely unacceptable service. We were seated and then completely ignored for 15 minutes -- no server, no drinks, no greeting. We finally had to track down the manager, who said he'd get us help... and then did absolutely nothing. If both the staff and management can't handle basic customer service, they shouldn't be open. Poor communication, poor management, and a total lack of basic hospitality. First impressions matter, and this was a bad one. I won't be returning and I don't suggest other waste time here. We came for endless boneless wings at 9:20, the establishment was not busy. We waited 10 minutes for our waiter to come get us beverages. Then we waited an additional 40 mins for our order to get to the table and an additional 30 mins to get our waters refilled. That was also AFTER asking kindly for more water because our waiter in the span of 9:20-10:30 only came to our table TWICE. With that being said, the food was good but the server was not attentive AT ALL. The server was constantly passing by but never approaching our table. My family were sat down by the hostess at the table and waited for 20 minutes and no one ever came over to take our order. I got up went over to a group of waiters and asked kindly if any of them were our waiter. They all just looked at me and said they were not sure. After waiting another 10 minutes with no one coming over we walked out. I understand that when things gets busy it's hard, but at some point someone needs to step up and make it right. Gator's used to be one of my favorite places to get wings. Time and time again, i have been disappointed but nothing like my last experience. I called in an order of 35 wings for a small get together to watch a basketball game. The gentleman over the phone was friendly and repeated my ordered to me as well as the time i was going to pick the wings up. When i arrived, not only was my order not ready...it had become lost in the matrix. The same guy at the bar i spoke to was the same gentleman who took my order over the phone. He had no explanation for the lost order. He stated he would speak to his manager and took $5 off of a $57 bill. He also stated i could wait a few minutes for someone else's wings that were almost ready. $50 for 35 wings is a lot but my friends wanted wings. So i waited about 10 minutes... Well...it gets worse. I get to my friends house and most of the dang wings were burned! The lemon pepper were supposed to be sauced...instead they were dry rubbed, over cooked, and burned - not edible. The hot teriyaki and caribbean jerked were also burned and carbonized. Crispy does not mean burned to blackness. Terrible. I wanted to call for a refund but didn't want to deal with it. We've been to Gators off and on for at least 7-8 years. We returned after awhile to sit down for dinner. Gator's hasn't changed in the interior at all. It's still the same place it's always been. One thing that has changed is the price. Normally, I'd put the price point per person around $9-10. Now though, that price has increased from anywhere between $12-15. Unfortunately, the food hasn't gotten any better. There are plenty of other places to go with better food, for the price you'll be paying. read more

I am a regular at this location in Waterford. I do not usually write reviews, but this is now the third time in a row we have had an issue over the last two weeks. Monday, March 3rd, was our last visit. I found hair in my wings, cooked in hair. I showed our server the hair and he said he'd get another order up. There was no other concern. Not even a manager bothered to appear. 17 minutes later the wrong order came out. However, I didn't want another order. Something about hair in my food turns my stomach. I was done. But no one even attempted to fix the issue. Which was the last of many for the night. Upon sitting down and ordering, our wings were out in less than 5 minutes. Right after we were served super cold stale fries of course. I was told they'd bring another order of those out, but I got tired of reminding the forgetful waiter. It was downhill from there. After the first order, there were long waits for cold wings. Isn't that a food safety concern? I only had the initial plate of wings due to food quality concerns, sending a plate of cold wings back then a plate with hair in them. It's also worth mentioning I had to get a girl who wasn't our server to help return food, as our server was busy having a 15 minute convo with another table about life. I arrived around 8pm. There were only 8-10 tables filled in our side of that large restaurant. Zero excuse for the delays or not having a manager able to talk. We've started to partake in all you can eat wings on Monday nights (my boyfriend is, I'm along for the ride, lol). We had dabbled between Baldwin Park and the Waterford location. This is due in part because of our first experience at the Waterford location for this specific AYCEW scenario--it left a lot to be desired...until we had David. **cue the angelic music** It can be busy as hell and he continues to check on us and pre-bus the table...refills replenished without asking. I've been to this Gator's numerous times and it's usually pretty good. In the past, I've had their wings (Grilled with scooter sauce), Rib dinner (had a great price on a full rack), and numerous appetizers, drinks, and desserts. On this visit, it was right when the state opened back up with 100% capacity in restaurants. They did not require a mask, however, staff wore masks and most patrons did as well. I heard they had a veggie wing so I was eager to try it and talked a few others into going out. They also had a Beyond Burger so it's nice to see a sports bar offer items for vegans and vegetarians. The veggie wings in Scooter Sauce were Ok. They were kind of like chicken nuggets. They came with a bunch of fries which made it worth the money, but I wouldn't go back for that. The Fish and Chips was excellent as were the onion petals. The fish sandwich was Ok and would have been 1000% better if they used the same fish from the Fish and Chips. The Steak Poutine was a favorite as was the burger. Service was good and a manager stopped by and sat for a bit to talk to us and thank us for dining with them. That was a nice touch. The reason I didn't give it more stars is the Deland Location was off the hook delicious in comparison. How could 2 different locations be that different in quality? Serves it purpose of a sports bar. I went with my mother for a late night dinner. We ordered the Buffalo cauliflower as an appetizer. You need to really like the taste of hot Buffalo sauce to enjoy that. My mom enjoyed it; I didn't. We also noticed that a single French fry was served with the Buffalo cauliflower. A bit sad to witness the lack of attention when food is served and something unexpected comes with it. We shared the Cobb salad, that was pretty good. The server offered to have it brought out split in two and I said that'd be great, but it came out as one dish (not separated) and when I asked if they could separate it as it was suggested we were told "there's 70 open tickets and we can't do that now." They went from employing enthusiastic, cute servers from the university to folks who I can only describe as bummed-out truck stop waitresses. They work slowly. Clearly this GM has never learned about customer service. In my many years of visiting this establishment, he never once has been seen greeting customers. He lurks in his back office occasionally peaking out. This glorified former cook manager has the personality of a wall. Fortunately for him, he had a staff that was great despite of him. He became manager long after most of the great staff was already there. His poor management decisions and lack of personality has drove the customer service down at this location. First time! I went for the wings. The wings themselves were great. I got them smoked which gave them just a hint of smoky flavor. The wings a medium sized, juicy, and tender. I had them tossed in their Gators hot sauce. Unfortunately their definition of hot is really mild. And it's listed near the top of their scale! So that was a huge miss in my mind. I haven't been to Gator's (especially this location) in a while and it was different than I remembered. We ordered Grilled Honey Mustard wings that came out kind of soggy and not flavorful. I hate to be the one to return food if I don't like it, but I've ordered them before and knew how they were supposed to be. When the server came to ask how everything was I told him about the wings and he didn't hesitate to fix it. The manager ended up bringing the new wings out, apologized for the first order and advised they made the new ones to our liking (a lot crisper). Round two was definitely what we originally expected, but I appreciated the fast resolution without kickback. Wings are excellent and come out pretty quick if your not at peak time. Id say between 6 and 830 is the busiest but we still got sat quickly. I ordered 10 wings to share with the husband, and they were tiny and covered with breading with minimal chicken in them. They were pretty much burned, which wasn't shocking considering their size being so small. They were honestly pathetic. My husband had to get up to get the waitress back to the table so we could check out and leave.
