The Tavern East came up on a search for Philadelphia Eagles bars in the area. The tavern had a large party group that was around the bar but they had plenty of open seating in the front part of the restaurant. There appeared to be two people checking on the people who were in the front of the house. You can sit wherever you like and eventually someone will come in and take your order. The person who waited on us did not normally work on Monday nights. She was very pleasant. I thought it took a little longer to get my food. Luckily the game was going to start soon so it took my mind off of having to wait so long. I ordered the smash burger and fries. The fries were crispy and hot. The smash burger was sub par. Burger, cheese, bun. Absolutely zero seasoning. Toppings were extra so I just got it with cheddar cheese. Flavor wise it was definitely lacking. The wings were crispy and the teriyaki sauce was good. I asked for my check and waited over 20 minutes. The person who I asked for my checked walked by like she had forgotten that I had even asked. When she mentioned oh I'll be right back with your check and the wings! I had to go to the bar to get it because the waiter never brought it over. Now I came here to watch the game. While it was playing on all the TVs, there was no sound. I am not sure if it had anything to do with the large party that was there, but I was disappointed that they did not have any sound playing for the game. Was on this side of town shopping and needed to grab a bite to eat. We were SUPER happy when we walked in and saw it was an EAGLES bar. They had great decor and the game was on TV all around the bar. It was perfect for us. They were SUPER busy and could tell they were short staffed. The servers were all very friendly and said it would be just a bit for food to come out. No problem since we could watch the game while we waited. We ordered some pretzel bites for an appetizer and that came out pretty quick to give us something to snack on as well. My oldest did the shrimp burrito and she really loved it. It was also huge so she was able to take half home to have the next day. I shared the Greggie (Philly) since I was not too hungry and it was good. The others had the wings and they liked those as well. If you're looking for a drink, darts, or to watch a game then this is a good place. If you're looking to eat, this isnt where I would recommend you spend your money. I got the chicken burrito, and it tasted canned. Not sure if the chicken was, but it wasn't good. My boyfriend got the BIRRIA BURRITO, and he said it was fine. Go elsewhere for your birria. Staff was nice, but didn't see much of them. Music was so loud you couldn't hear the (oddly specific) "Never ending story" trivia. Also turned off playoff hockey to put on a random baseball game. This is now AC Sports Bar. Some generic name of the old Tavern East that was bought out by some nefarious types. If I could give this place a zero, I would. The owners of La Strega Italian Ristorante recently purchased Tavern East. On the night of 11/30/2025, I was confronted by a man wearing a La Strega long-sleeve shirt who claimed to be one of the new owners. While I was trying to pay my tab, he and another individual began accusing me of reversing charges on my bank account. The confusion came from a charge labeled "La Strega," which I didn't recognize, as I hadn't known Tavern East had been sold. Given my past experiences with fraud, I assumed the charge was suspicious and contacted my bank. When I explained this, one of the new owners became angry, and the taller owner forcefully ordered me to leave. I attempted to pay, but the yelling escalated to the point where the bartender, clearly uncomfortable, told me to just go. Outside, the tall man continued shouting. When I nervously laughed, he kicked me, causing me to fall. Police arrived, but without witnesses or visible evidence, no action was taken. The only potential proof would be the security footage, which may or may not still exist and would require a subpoena. In the chaos, I did not record the incident on my phone. I've been a loyal customer of this location since the Castaways days, and even earlier when it was Buffalo Wild Wings. I knew the previous owners and only recently learned the business was sold. I'm writing this so customers are aware that, as of December 2025, the new management created a hostile and unprofessional environment. The Tavern East is located in the Waterford Towers shopping plaza where Castaways used to be. Being in the Waterford Towers shopping plaza, parking is definitely not a problem. It is also conveniently located. I was only in here for a drink, but the service was friendly and the drink was cold. The place has what you would expect from a bar in terms of ambiance. They also offer the usual bar stuff to keep the patrons entertained. All in all, the Tavern East is a cool enough bar and a welcome addition to the neighborhood, though it will have competition with the other bars in the area. read more

This is a solid local bar that I frequent for trivia--though it can be hit or miss. It's also a great space to watch sports or play darts. It's conveniently located in the Waterford Lakes Town Center. The drinks are affordable (as long as you skip the listed cocktails), especially with their specials and happy hour. Like most bars, the food feels a bit overpriced for the portions, but I wouldn't call it expensive. That said, the shrimp tacos were excellent, and the sweet potato fries were just as good. I had previously visited the downtown location and loved it! It looks like a dive bar and has sports on the tvs. You will be warmly greeted by a server and seated. Our server was quick and attentive. She brought two pitchers of water as we were a large table of 8. We visited near the end of a busy trivia night but they seated us immediately. I asked about seasonal beers but they did not have any. I ordered Duke's Brown Ale and it was cold and refreshing. I also got the Birria Melt with sweet potato fries. The Birria Melt was really good, but the sweet potato fries were a little overly crispy. Ok, I get it that I'm not the target audience for this place. It's a college bar with cheap drinks and cheap food. There's certainly a time and place for that. Just not for me. Waitresses were very friendly and great so no issue there. We ordered chips and queso. Tacos. And a burrito. The queso wasn't melty and honestly most store brands are better. Chips were fine. But within 1 minute, the tacos and burrito came out. And we're talking within 3 minutes of ordering everything. My guess is they've got tacos and burritos premade and just zip zap them and send them out. Sure, I guess you could make that all in 2 minutes but I doubt it. Taste was fine but Chipotle, which I could see through the window, is better (but more expensive). So yeah, this is about ordering beer and cheap eats and watching a game. Not sure where to start. The restrooms improved since visiting last (men's). Service at the bar? Unsure. I had my first two drink orders taken in pretty stellar timing. Third drink order was put in with food. Drink came, food never did though ordered at the same time with a***r. Asked for the tab after waiting 30 minutes. 15 minutes later I see my card leave the bar area on a receipt with another bartender (as a bar sitting patron), go around the establishment as other checks were delivered, and come back. There are opportunities here but I remain hopeful it'll be right someday here. May have to stay on top of staff for your food orders. Just didn't have the patience today for it. read more

Been coming to this bar since 2017 when it turned from BWW to Castaways to Tavern. The decor & menu may change but the bartenders & regulars make this place the best bar in the Waterford area. Come often enough you become family & nowhere else will compare. I love the Tavern's first location in Downtown Orlando, so when I saw their second location had burgers on the menu I knew I had to check it out! Their smash burger was awesome- I love that you can build your own and they have a variety toppings like bacon, grilled peppers, grilled onions. This is a local spot that has become a staple for me and my friends. With the high energy and amazing service I would choose to come drink/eat here than any spot in Waterford Lakes. The ambiance is very sports bar always catering to sports and what people want to see. They keep it clean while serving fantastic service and excellent drinks. I love this place! I got the impossible BYO smash burger and it was honestly the best veggie burger I've ever had. You can tell the kitchen staff actually care about the quality of food, because this was delicious. My honest opinion I should have cooked at home and saved my money. Birria burritos had no flavor the meat was chewy (more rice then meat anyway) , the rice tasted like it was from a microwave bag, and the consume was watery (oil in a cup) for 16$ that's crazy just take it off the menu.
