The Social House in the Waterford Lakes Town Center has closed. I had a lot of good times here and in the former business in this location, Friendly Confines. The ambiance was your tyical bar setting. When it was Friendly Confines, they had a Chicago sports theme going for it. The Social House had a less sports theme, but it was cool nonetheless. I don't think that I ever had a meal at the Social House, but I ate at Friendly Confines quite often. We would have the French dip and I would often get their wings. This was your typical bar. We were waiting on a table at Zen Dumplings so we decided to have a few drinks here. I'm talking sticky floors and smells like college. We looked at the food menu to check if we wanted an appetizer but it's just a few options of pub food, so we opted out. We were there after 8pm so we got the late hour deal, which was awesome. We were drinking their vodka lemonades which were priced super fair and made really well, so no complaints on the drinks..it isn't a fancy cocktail bar so don't expect anything super nice but they do have some great options on their menu. The service was great the whole time, bartenders were quick to serve us and make drinks. We wanted to play some darts but there were some dudes that came over and yelled at my husband/cousin for taking their dart machine? It was weird. They eventually let them play with them but there were two dart machines and apparently the two dudes owned both. So not sure what that was about. Definitely killed our vibe a little. My friend and I tried out Social House for the first time. I wouldn't recommend going here if you have a gluten intolerance. They told me that they couldn't really confirm or make anything gluten free besides the burger with no bun and a side salad so that is what I got. It was ok. The strawberry margarita I had was pretty delicious. The meal was a little more pricey than what it should have been for the quality I got. It is also nice if you want to watch a game because they have so many TVs and a fun atmosphere. There was live country music when we went which made the experience better. read more

I feel like this place does not know if it wants to be a straight up Bar or a Pub. We arrived and were greeted and taken to a table like a restaurant, but the table was sticky and dirty with food particles like a bar. They have a lot of TV's and for a Saturday early evening (like 6pm) there seemed to be a disproportionate amount of loud rowdy people. (my chair was plowed into no less than 7 times while eating and a couple of "hair flips") Ok so it's CALLED Social House. Unfortunately it was so loud even yelling it was hard to understand/hear the waiter or the person across the table from me. I attempted to try texting but since the building has a metal roof the service was spotty at best. The server arrived and he was very pleasant. I asked what type of dark beers were available like milk stout or the like. He said they really did not have anything dark at all. Ok, no problem let me get a regular Ice Tea. I was informed that I probably would not like their Ice Tea. He said nobody really likes it. (While MUCH appreciated - if you servers know this...why are you still serving it??) The food arrived in about 20 minutes but sadly the Mac and Cheese was luke warm at best. Personally, I did not like the taste and while I have no idea how much or little time they put into the prep, I tasted basic spiral pasta and canned cheese sauce. I opted for the Chicken and Waffle slider but I wonder... if you take a chicken patty and a full size waffle and then cut it in half...is that REALLY a slider ? The sandwich was OK at best. There were a lot of people there drinking so maybe this is great BAR but my experience I was not satisfied with 30 dollars for a burger, chicken sandwich and 2 drinks at a dirty table in an environment that I could not really even have a conversation. We stopped first at Brass Tap but after seeing the prices we didn't stick around and ended up here at Social House. You can't even hear yourself think if you go inside, so we sat out on one of the benches, ordered our libations and some funnel cake fries which.. I had not heard of ever before, but we all loved it. Got denied with my REAL 21-year-old ID here after waiting 15 minutes to even get greeted or get a menu. I go to school down here, though originally from Chicago, and just got back for my last year. I really dislike writing poor reviews, but this place is deserving of one. I stopped eating food there when I got food poisoning after taco Tuesday. We continued to frequent this place for years, but the scene is very college bar and the drink selection is very basic at best. The staff drinks behind the bar and often ignores the customers in favor of hanging out together. On numerous times the glasses would smell like dirty dish water. Social House is located in waterford and there are so many better options. I highly recommend brass tap, its a stones throw from social and the food is amazing there. With so many options in Waterford, why settle for or spend your money on mediocrity. read more

Soooooo, our second visit to this place within 2 weeks! I think that probably lets you know how delicious and awesome I think this cute little spot is! The first time there, we sat at the bar and had drinks and lunch. My second time consisted of Sunday football, drinks and food. Sunday is definitely the day to hang out at this spot! I love how they have tags on all of the televisions, letting you know which games will be on what TVs. That allows you to sit exactly where you want to get the full affect of your favorite football team!! First things first... absolutely delicious old fashioned, definitely bomb bourbon bloody Marys, and positively perfect mimosas. We also had a raucous good time playing Jenga. It was just my husband and I, but, man what a riot. Lol Our food selection was the Cubano sandwich and pulled pork nachos. To our delight, the food was outstanding. The pork was a little crispy, a little tender, and a lot delicious! We also enjoyed the pulled pork tacos and Ahi tuna tacos. Oh yesssss... Almost forgot we also had queso and chips too. Yummm. I'm taking away a star due to our last visit. The buffalo chicken sandwich was really bad. The buffalo sauce tasted nothing like buffalo. I even tried to mix the "buffalo sauce" with ranch to make it taste better, but it didn't work. Service also lacked. We had to get up and go to the bar for silverware and extra napkins. We came in here solely to try something new. They've remodeled quite a bit since this place was Friendly Confines, but it's still basically the same layout. We arrived on a Friday night a little earlier in the evening than your typical dinner time. We both had extremely light lunches that day, so we decided to have an early bird style dinner around 5:30 or 6. Luckily, this put us in HAPPY HOUR! This meant that most of the apps were 1/2 priced and they had reasonable drink specials. The place was deader than dead, but they were setting up some live music and there were a few guys over at the pool table. This got better as the evening went on. Like I said, we were early. However, it was still lighter than it deserved to be. I hope that doesn't bode poorly for this place. The visit had the potential for starting off poorly, but didn't. We were seated and kind of just abandoned. As this was our first visit, it seemed almost immediately that this place might be a stinker. However, thanks to some excellent customer service skills, it wasn't. Suddenly, we heard "Hey guys, I'm not your server, but I noticed she hasn't stopped by yet. Let me take your drink order and she'll be over in just a second. I don't want you to be thirsty." She also made sure we were aware of the 1/2 priced apps and asked if we had any questions. We did. She answered them, told us she'd get our drinks right out, and make sure our server knew we were there. That's a little move, but it set the tone in a very positive manner. Excellent work. Our real server Hayleigh came out immediately behind our stunt server and took excellent care of us the rest of the night. I didn't catch the girl that saved the day's name, but I wish I had. We decided to load up and try as many things as we reasonably could... The wings are apps, but excluded (we were told when we ordered, but still ordered them) and the wrap came with fries. The pretzels were solid and the beer cheese was tasty. The first cheese dip was ICE cold, like it had been refrigerated. We got the server and asked if that was their style. She said no and brought us out a piping hot fresh one with apologies. Usually, that would be in a crock pot type thing, so I'm not sure how we got a cold batch... but???? They corrected it. The tuna was like a deconstructed sushi plate. The tuna was tasty. My wife liked this plated a lot. It's a common theme with this place (for us, at least) but the sauce wasn't good that came with it. I referred to it as "horseradish & butt" sauce. Thankfully, the plate didn't actually need sauce. The pickle chips were HANDS DOWN the best item we were served. I will say the sauce that comes with them was forgettable, and although it wasn't awful we did forget it, but the pickle chips themselves were insanely good. They are dipped in panko bread crumbs and seasoned. The wings weren't outstanding. They are chubby, but they didn't stand out. They were wings and they weren't bad. They could use to be more crunchy and crispy. The wrap actually has the buffalo chicken app inside, but mac & cheese, too! I liked it. I was pleased. I enjoyed my experience here. The food was decently good and the drinks were great. By far, the best part of being at Social House was our incredibly waitress. I haven't received such good service in months! Our entire table of 5 ordered the mac & cheese buffalo chicken wrap ($8.99). It was good enough for college students like ourselves, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you have the stomach for infinite carbs and fat. We also ordered the mimosas ($3.50 each) and they were delicious. Recently visited here after a movie, convenient, steps away from theater. Formally a Friendly Confines when I lived more out this way. The decor, better, upgraded. We looked for a seat yourself table to find most tables still dirty, not the best first impression. We honestly expected walking in upgraded bar food by the looks, casual and hopefully good comfort food. The food, we shared a chicken and waffle dish with fries and the sesame seared tuna appetizer. A decent beer selection we ordered drinks and waited for our food. The tuna? Good presentation, taste lacking- I found myself wishing for the same dish at adjacent Coopers Hawk. The chicken and waffles, pretty good, basic and a little bland. After a beer I decided to fancy it up and order their speciality Bacon Bourbon Old Fashioned. Nope. Taste like maple syrup added to a bad old fashioned for me. Service was average, she was there when we needed. Bathrooms needed a janitor for sure. For the price theres lots of other options very close by, try them. Cleanliness definitely didn't add to experience. Lots of TV's if your looking for a game, low key. We arrived around 5:30pm and it was a little empty, but by 6:15 the crowd was jumpin! Live music which was cool, but I was not impressed with the offerings for the wine special. They also have a 50% off a select menu. So we opted for the baby swiss and feta cheese bites with a what was a marinara sauce. Meh...They were ok, but nothing special. This place replaced friendly confines ( which was a pretty chill place with great food). We came tonight and asked when this place Opened and they said 3 days ago and the grand opening is this coming Tuesday. We sat at a table and didn't get our drink order for 30 minutes then they ran out of Lemonade and Avacado wraps. Really? You've only been open 3 days? I highly doubt they ran out so fast. A manger had even come to us to see if we were being taken care of. He went to look for the waitress and she was no where to be found. Then we requested a substitute drink and that literally never came. Another server from another table had to come and grab the drinks for us and it took her less than a minute. If they're starting off like this they will not last long. Hopefully the taste of the food will help them. Sorry I keep adding to this review because things keep on happening. Hairs were found in my daughters chicken wings!! We've even spoken to another manager. The food and overall ambience is great. Their menu keeps changing as it seems that they are finding what they are going to keep on the menu. The draft menu has changed a few times since they've opened but its all a great selection and decently priced. They have a great brunch menu. Bottomless mimosas/ Bellinis/ sangria for 12$. By themselves its 5$ for one glass so it seems a great deal if you even get 2 glasses. But was here for a Sunday, the service was soooo slow. Took over an hour for our entrees to come out. 20minutes for our server to notice us outside. Never asked us about refills or extras. But a lot of the staff seems new and figuring it out slowly. We used to go regularly because the bartenders were fun and engaging and the drink specials were good. Now the last couple times visiting, it has really gone down hill. The bartenders treat you like you are an inconvenience, they are slow to serve, and the happy hours are confusing (one goes until 5pm, M-F and then another starts at 5pm but has different specials and then another late night) happy hours that are inconsistent. The place is soooo loud that even if you are there with a few friends, sitting next to each other, you cannot even hear because the music is blasting even if the place is empty which is it most of the time before the late night club crowd comes in.
