Family member is a new patient and there have been scheduling issues for us that make me question whether we will stay with this practice. Arrived for treatment and waited almost 2 1/2 hours so we asked to be rescheduled. Was told we would be called next or "it will be a long time before we have an opening again". Opted to reschedule as I was not waiting again. Rescheduled visit was ok but when crown came in and that appointment was scheduled I was told our appointment was scheduled with the wrong doctor so it had to be canceled and rescheduled with the correct doctor but that couldn't happen until after school starts. The whole purpose in dealing with this in the summer is to avoid missing school. I don't know if this is a management issue or a training issue but it is unacceptable. We were planning on using this practice for orthodontic treatment but I'm not wanting to deal with repeated scheduling issues for long term treatment when we've had these issues to start care. read more

I am taking the journey of a dental implant. Truthfully, it is not an easy and painless procedure. Dr. Stringham and his wonderful team make a patient' experience more comfortable and relaxed. They are informative and knowledgeable during every visit! What sets Dr. Stringham apart from other dentist--he followed up with a concern of my well being after the procedure (himself) after a couple hours of arriving home. Less than thrilled with communication. I had been told that I had to have a removal in preparation of implants in late November. I was told the process was that I would have extractions and bone grafts on first visit, then I would recover overnight and I would receive my temporary implants the next afternoon. The next day I was told that the Doctor wanted to give my bone grafts more time to heal and had a denture made for me to wear while that happened. 4 weeks later I came back. At first the assistant said that I was just there for X-rays and they would schedule me for the end of January (another 4 weeks). I contacted the doctor and asked why I was having to wait an additional month and if he saw some issue to wait. He then had me come in and they did everything to get the implants made. Since the original process said the next day I would have implant, I assumed that would be the same time frame. Granted it was New Years Eve and I'm sure they wouldn't start making my implants until the following workday. However, it's been three weeks. In those three weeks I have had to postpone work because of the denture (due to the nature of my work) and I constantly have to ask them for info because they aren't providing it freely. Pardon the pun, but it's been like pulling teeth. I don't see how a process that was supposed to have implants in my mouth in 2 days has taken 7-8 weeks. read more

Today my wife and I had our first appointment. Every employee we interacted with was very friendly and professional. Lindsey, the dental hygienist was the most thorough I've ever experienced. It only took about 15 minutes. And with my insurance, it only cost less than $100. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. My son experienced horrific and inhumane treatment at the hands of a dentist at this practice. I had to watch my child writhe in pain and agony because he was denied medicine that would alleviate his suffering. He was not fully anesthetized during his wisdom teeth extraction, and to add insult to incompetence I had to beg them to prescribe medicine to alleviate my son's pain after surgery. He spent hours in indescribable pain. My son described the unprofessional conversation that was happening while he was in surgery. He was not the focus, the dentist was busy discussing issues in the office. I don't recommend anyone who cares about themselves or their loved ones to ever set foot in this office. read more

I have been waiting for a refund for a crown which had to be cancelled due to a tooth pulled after a failed root canal. I pre-paid on good faith. No insurance involvement since I had met reached my maximum for the year. The endodontist at a different faculty for the failed foot canal had refunded my money. It's been 3 weeks. I have waiting to conclude my scheduled tooth implant prior to seeking legal counsel. read more

This dental office is conveniently located. Unfortunately, the staff person I saw argued with me about my care and a medical condition that I have that requires a different approach than "regular" patients may need. The staff member was extremely rude and basically dismissed my concerns. read more

In mid-October 2021a crown on a molar became loose. I contacted Gattis School Dental and kept my appointment. They examined me and x-rayed every tooth. At that time they determined that I required a temporary crown while they obtained a replacement crown that cost $2,200. I agreed and paid the money. A few days later the temporary crown fell out. Also, chewing on that side caused pain. Again I was told that they would use better glue. They also mentioned that the nerve for this tooth was in place and may require a root canal. I was assured that if this happened I would not be charged. A few days later the temporary crown fell out again and the area had become infected. I experienced pain while chewing. They said that they would use an even better glue. I was not aware that I was paying $2,200 to cover a nerve that may need removal by a root canal. Again I questioned additional costs associated with a root canal and was told that they take care of their customers and that there would be no additional fee. Bottom Line - They installed the new crown and it fell off, also. When they reinstalled it, I was told that I probably required a root canal and gave me a referral to a surgeon to determine if I needed a root canal. I was told that I would have to pay for the referral and the root canal, if required, because they did not perform root canals. Nobody with any power or authority has contacted me, although an "Office Manager" supposedly passed my complaint to somebody that could make decisions. Last week a new employee called to see if I saw the referral surgeon. I asked him to pass on my dissatisfaction with this organization. I have still received no contact from anybody else. It hurts when I chew on the side of my mouth with the $2,200 crown placed over a bad nerve. I am still waiting for a response. read more

I just had a filling done with Dr. Stringham and the Dental Assistant, Mattie at Gattis School Road Dental. I had so much anxiety because I've had teeth removed, braces, painful injections..... I didn't even feel the needle, as Dr. Stringham numbed me up. Dr. Stringham told me everything he was doing and what I should feel. I was happy with my experience, that I just booked my son's dental exam with them. Mattie is so bubbly, distracting, interactive and absolutely wonderful. She also teaches Dental Assisting. I had major pain in a molar tooth I called the office and explained how bad my pain was the young lady I spoke with took my info and told me to come immediately. I had a traumatic experience in the military with a dentist and was petrified but the pain topped that fear. They got me in did X-rays and the doc came in, Dr Stringham was amazing. He informed me of an infection and recommended a root canal. Long story short his performance and care through the whole process from initial exam to root canal then crown placement put my trust back in dental care. Mind you I will only see him and why wouldn't I I fell asleep during the root canal. I was not put under, I had a local and nitrous. The girls in front to everyone in back are amazing. I highly recommend this office and Dr Stringham!!! read more

I am a bit shocked at the low rating of this office on Yelp, it certainly is not that way on Google. My experience with this office started with an emergency visit on Friday for an infected tooth that was causing extreme pain. They got me in while I was still talking to Brook (the receptionist) on the phone and she was so kind and warm. I didn't have to wait long on a short notice appointment and was greeted by the most warm and inviting hygienist. Mattie (I hope I am spelling it right) you are a GEM to that office. Thank you for your energy and allowing an unfortunate situation to be a bit brighter. You really are the perfect fit for that position and make a scary place feel like you're going to see a friend. Dr Prieto was my dentist and I adore her. Y'all, she is so wonderful and I truly can't offer enough good things to say about her. She talked me through everything, explained why it needed to be done, and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. Thank you for all you did, Dr Prieto! She and Mattie both are why I will continue coming to this dentist office and make it my primary place for any dental work. I was checked in by text all weekend and was encouraged to ask questions when sometimes that isn't the case. They put sealants on my kid without my permission and months later I get a huge bill and told me my insurance didn't cover it. I never signed for this treatment or was shown a treatment plan but somehow they have my signature for the treatment plan. I always have problems here. read more

I did not deserve to be treated this way. I arrived this morning for my new patient appointment. The appointment was scheduled for 10:30. I arrived at 10:15 to fill out the paperwork which I did. I was the only person in the waiting room. At 10:38 I heard someone tell the hygienist that her 10:30 was there. I heard much laughter and chatting for several more minutes. At 10:53 I got up and said I was leaving. The woman sitting at the back of reception did not even look up. At 11:04 am the receptionist called to ask where I was. If you are running late tell the patient and show some courtesy. It was obvious these people did not value me as a new client or my time. They keep sending out announcements and discounts in the mail to get new clients and then treat us this way. Whoever is running this place needs to make some personnel changes. The supervisor, dentist, and office manager do not know how to manage it seems. Never going back there. read more

Great experience, brand new office! New to Austin and relieved to have found my new dentist!

My mother is in Round Rock with me from Michigan for the winter. She has a new partial that was giving her problems. I made an appointment and brought her in to have an adjustment made. Somehow they cemented the appliance to her other teeth and had to drill it out. I was wondering why it was taking so long and why staff came out to tell me "everything is fine and it'll only be a few more minutes." When we left they said there was no charge; which I further thought was odd. We get to the car and I was ready to ask why there was no charge when my mother told me what happened. Needless to say I went back inside with a few choice words for their staff; including some four letter ones. What pissed me off the most was they tried to hide it from me. I was told by the office manager I would get a call from the dentist that performed the procedure as (in her words) "I was not in the room so I can't tell you exactly what happened". We'll see if I get a follow-up from them. On the other hand, my mother says the partial does feel better, so it seems that the final result is what we went there for in the first place. I understand that accidents can happen, but to cement an appliance in a patient's mouth is not a mistake; it's sloppy dentistry. read more

This is probably the best dentist in town. I called and instantly was talking to a real person. Set up appointment and was in the same day. Had to get an emergency extraction. Affordable, fast and as painless as it can be going to the dentist..lol. Both doctors are very knowledgeable and happy to share it with you. Staff was pleasant and professional. Coupon bait and switch. After receiving many coupons advertising cleaning, ex-rays and examinations for $79, I made an appointment. I made it clear when making it and during my appointment my reason for being there. Only after their examination and ex-rays was I told that they would not complete the cleaning and to perform anything less would be "professional negligence". Instead, they proposed that I reschedule for a deep cleaning. I know my teeth and gums well enough to know that this was not needed. I don't appreciate this practice and will never return to Gattis School Dental. It was evident that despite my repeated requests for the treatment I scheduled my appointment for that they clearly had another agenda. That was switching my $79 treatment to $2600. If your time is as valuable as mine, don't waist your time and money making an appointment. I waited just over 1 year to visit this new dentist due to COVID only to be greatly disappointed. While I don't blame the dentist, these business practices need to be called out and public be alerted. I was only credited $20 for the cleaning but I now I have start over to find another dentist. Even at $60 - $2600 per patient I hope to prevent this from happening to others. I don't expect this business to last with these practices. They should be much more transparent before charging anything. Think about it, $79 to draw you in, then $2600, that's not right. The receptionist was less than helpful. Even after receiving and completing their surveys, nothing has been made right. Dentistry has unfortunately become big business with practices to match. read more
