Definitely the place to go if you are looking for ingredients to make soul food, Creole dishes, Mexican meals or Halal recipes. Because it's in the hood, the setup is a little different from regular supermarkets. For example, you pay for your meat separate from your groceries. If you want chicken from the amazing chicken vendor inside the market, that is a separate purchase too. So you could end up with three different tabs, or four if you stop by for liquor or spirits. All in all, the store was clean, the service was nice and the staff was helpful. And because there are not a lot of supermarkets in East Oakland, especially the deep East, it is really nice to have a spot like this in the neighborhood. read more

I'm giving this store 3stars because of the prices. Some items are reasonable others are outrageous. So if i could of given 2.5 stars i would. But I rounded up because i really like the butcher shop located in the back of the store. The prices are good and so is the selection. This store is located in a urban area so they have many items that you won't find at a Safeway bc they specifically cater to the black and hispanic community. There is a Krispy Krunchy located inside, as well as a hot food lunch counter. The store isn't very big. They do have many items that you won't find at larger grocery chains but I don't feel like they can really compete overall. This is a great place for fresh meat and one off items, but much too expensive to grocery shop. read more

I know it's been awhile since I did a review but after this culinary experience from Gazalli's made me go "WOW"!!! I just had to post it. Great local, community family establishment and they employ others from the neighborhood that they serve and very reasonably priced other than the items they have on sale. You can not only grocery shop, but select almost any kind of ready made food from their great food court to take home or to the park or party. Clearly a one stop shop from groceries to a food court and all in between. Fried Chicken, pizza, Ribs, steak and chicken fries, and a bakery. I had a get together with a few of my buddies and was wondering how I was going to get all their favorite foods ready to eat. Would of had more pictures, but some of the plates where almost finished before I could remember to take photos. That's good the food was. I just hope after this review I won't have to wait longer in line from a flood new customers they get who want to take advantage of the same great food and shopping experience I had and continually look forward to. read more

I love this store and you can tell it is under new management. I love the fact that you now have the option for Halal Products and the store is much cleaner and the staff is efficient. The one issue i have is the bakery. Gazali's had an excellent bakery where you could purchase fresh cakes baked daily. I have been to the market several times to purchase a few of those cakes since January till now (April 2024 - just called to inquire today about the oven repair and as I understand it the oven is STILL not working and there don't seem to be any plans that I can tell for repair. The fresh bakery was one of the highlights of the store. It is my sincerest hope that they will repair the oven and get back to baking those cakes instead of the common packaged ones which by the way taste awful!!! It's one of the many things that put Gazali's ahead of its other competition. read more

The only reason why I say I would "maybe "recommend this store is because it's the only grocery store in the vicinity for most of the people in the area. The problem with that is because of that fact, they definitely capitalize on it and offer over priced items. Definitely capitalistic, which is common in our country, but definitely morally wrong. It's an area where a lot of people may not have cars to get to other grocery stores so they have to settle for what's available. The pictures that are being shared are from the Food Court area. Definitely. It has great food. I love their chicken. Caesar salad. I do love their burrito bowls. The pizza is pretty good. Some of my favs from this section are the party wings, guac, salsa, and ceviche. A coworker of mine suggested I visit this store as they sale Ox Tails and I love Ox Tail soup especially during the fall season. I went in and ohhhhh mmmmyyyy. The stinch in the air. Ooooo. My second time visiting this store I was scared to go in because of the stinch in the air when I went in the first time. I must say that it smell had dissipated. I was able to go in and purchase more Ox Tails. Now, the problem was the OxTails were so tough you couldn't even skin them. I literally took them back and got a refund. Note: This is a market at the Eastmont Town Center, housed in what used to be the old Safeway in the 70's - so please manage your expectations! That said, this is THE go to place for all the "ethnic" cooking condiments and seasonings you can imagine, especially the creole varieties like Zatarain's, Tony Chachere's, and others. They even have hard-to-find boudin in both pork and shrimp varieties. I come only for the super fresh meat packs, which for $34, I can get steak, chicken legs;wings, basa, tilapia, pork shops, ground turkey, and seasoned beef for tacos. There are many, many variations of the above for more or less meat and seafood to fit your budget and family needs. For my family of four, with room for freezer storage, the deal above is just right and saves on time. Honorable mention: The bakery and fried chicken! The baker really puts his foot into that 7-up cake! The biscuits that come with the chicken meals are soaked in honey butter! This is not my ideal spot for grocery items - while the variety is there, the prices are slightly higher than a FoodMaxx for instance, but you CAN complete almost all of your shopping there if you have to, save for favorite specialty items only found in certain stores (ie. Trader Joes). Come on weekday afternoons for no-line shopping. Finally, the service is really great. They have a staff of courteous folks who go out of their way to treat you well, which is something I very much appreciate, and is not easily found, no matter what 'hood you shop in. read more

This is an expensive local neighborhood market. They have a great meat department. Clean and fresh meat. Their fresh foods up front are always good. Chicken, pizza, tacos. You can't go wrong. They also have the convenience of a pay station in the front of the store for you bill paying, money sending/receiving and check cashing needs. They have good fruits and veggies. It's just expensive. Especially for the location, they could do a little better for the customers. I have always used and will still use this store the employees are friendly and welcoming when you enter their store. Their meat department is well stocked, it's also very clean and the guys are quick and friendly to help out customers. The store is also pretty clean overall, and I've never had to wait in line for longer than 2-3 minutes. One downside is that you don't always feel safe walking in/out of your car because there's always something going on in the parking lot, or guys just hanging around smoking or whatever so it sometimes feels a little sketchy, but it has nothing to do with the store, just the area. read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE! Bought some chicken from here on 12/24/15 and when I opened the bag to cook the chicken on 12/25/15, it smelled like a dirty diaper. The meat was obviously old and spoiled and was just sold to me the day before. Happened to look at the the expiration date that was on the bag of chicken and for some strange reason, they had the "Sell by" date as 2/22/16. What the heck?!? Just filed an complaint online with the FDA regarding this matter and might take the chicken to a hospital where they can have their lab run a check on this. Another issue with this store is that they mark up the prices pretty much triple than what you would pay at Safeway. The owners think nothing of overcharging their customers, whom are mostly low-income or don't have access to lower priced stores. You can literally go into their store on a Monday and pay $3 for an item and by Thursday, it's marked up to $5. P.S. EBT users have complained that this store does not comply with the "free bag" rule. read more
