I got a bag of these rice ovalettes at KP Mart and the next day it already had mold so I brought it back today and then checked the other bags on the shelf and they all have mold. I told the cashier and she was very dismissive of me. I tried looking for the best by date and there was no date on any of the bags. I recently moved to the NorCal area and was looking for a Korean market. I was happy to find this place but I don't think I'll be back. The staff here and at the Korean skincare store were so rude. My friend accidentally left her purchased item as we were leaving because we were in a rush and the cashier came out and slammed the item into my friend before rolling her eyes and going back inside. The security guard saw this and said the staff have gotten complaints before for the way they treat customers but they're usually "very kind". I doubt it. read more

My go to Korean supermarket in the east bay. There is a good amount of fresh produce at very affordable prices. A lot fresher in comparison to Chinatown and doesn't spoil as fast. The meat section always have a variety of meats on sale. Usually go for steaks as cheaper than most places. Bakery goods I would pass as it doesn't seem very tasty and plus on higher end for price for what it is worth. Hot food section is a hit or miss. There is security on-site to direct traffic and enclosed parking lot. The restrooms are extremely clean and code on the receipt to enter. read more

Another business that we frequent that I have not written a review for?!?! We call this place KP Market. Quality/Quantity - One of the best markets for Korean foods in the area. There are a few other (better) Asian markets, but none that are specifically Korean themed/focused. Well unless you are in Santa Clara, CA. The best asian market in the area! Absolutely love coming to KP for groceries! Being a Daly City native - this place reminds me of Kukje and it fulfills so many of our asian eating needs! My hubs is in charge of real food groceries and I'm always shopping for snacks! Love the kimbop and stirfry fish cakes! It's also still affordable and with good portions! Massive fan of this location! Not as massive as the Sacramento KP Market, but it has the necessities that one might need or crave. I come here primarily for the great prices on their fresh produce. They have a small section in the front with hot food items - noodles, fried chicken and so forth that is already cooked and you can just grab and go. Right next to that section they have an assortment of pastries - all delicious! They have your meat section, ice cream (that sometimes has the viral peach shaped ice cream), the epic chip/candy aisle and then their fresh fish and produce. Right next to the produce section they have an assortment of soup items - fish balls, noodles, vegetables. They do have a small parking area that is free and guarded. Right next to the market is the store section where you can buy house hold items - pots, utensils, hats and everyday items. read more

This is an enormous grocery store just off that has the bomb-diggity assortment of ethnic food items, from asian to Indian to African ingredients. I come here for the Kim-chi base and above all the dried mushroom selection. There's no better deal on these two items I have ever found. There's another venue that was called "Koreana" but is now "KP International Market I visit and I guess you'd say it is a sister store in Sacramento by that name. But this Sacramento location became KP Market because they've expanded considerably. Anyway, vegan, vegetarian and plant-based eaters will love this place, assuming they know how to cook and are note completely broke. Now git it! read more

I have been coming to this place ever since they opened. I appreciate that they made the necessary investments in armed security who manage the flow of the parking lot and stand and monitor the front door. Although they are firm and don't take any shit they are very watchful over the Negiborhood and attentive to there surroundings. I say all this because my dad who shops at the KP market regularly is actually elderly and blind. Sometimes people do try to take advantage of that (if you know the neighborhood you'll understand what I mean) but they have always kept an eye out for him and always make sure he makes it through the parking lot safely. On the shopping from I always love the freshness of there meat and produce. The produce is not like other grocery stores where it's under ripened and tastlesss. Their produce is always ready to eat or not to far away from ready to eat. There small meat department has a lovely selection of freshly cut meats and not to mention there bakery section and all there other options for Asia cooking. Love coming there for their samples, 99 cents section, and ready made meals. Koreana always has yummy fruit samples and occasionally good prices. I recently bought two heavy bag of Barlett Pears that each cost $1.99 TOTAL not per lb. What a steal! Sometimes I get their 99 cents produce bags as well! I didn't see any this time but I'm always on the look out. Last time I got a bag full of bell peppers and a bag full of roma tomatoes. Each bag had about 5 of each vegetable in their specified bag. Each bag looked fresh without damage or mold. The ready made meals are pretty good. Sometimes I get the Japchae or Gimbap. For dessert, I got a mango cream Sando. Exactly what others said... some cashiers are incredibly rude. I tried to pay with my Apple Pay but it wasn't going through so I was going to tap my card instead. The man working the register began shouting at me and wouldn't allow me to tap my card, then grabbed my reusable shopping bag with the bagged groceries out of my child's hands. I calmly asked if I could tap my card and he put his hand over the tap screen and shouted NO three times at me, as if I had done something wrong. After more shouting from him, I quietly unloaded my groceries from the bag (after he then tried to pull my bag out of my hands) and left because I'm not paying anyone to treat me like a criminal. I checked my card after I left and it was only Apple Pay that wasn't working correctly, not the card. If he had allowed me to tap the screen everything would've been resolved but he had zero patience. I would've given them one star only but for good selection I'll give them two. Since moving to Oakland, Koreana Plaza has been my family's go-to Asian Market. They're not the largest, but they have a good selection of most products (sometimes we'll get produce elsewhere). The lot can seem intimidating, but security measures actually make shopping there feel much safer. And while parking can fill up on weekends, there's a good flow of people coming in and out. I always find a spot. Staff are quick to move people through the lines, and I always find everything I need at KP. We even get large orders of their fried chicken for our holiday parties - so good. Their kalbi was pretty expensive, but I splurged for a special occasion. I most often shop for fresh and frozen kimbap, soju, instant noodles and meat at KP. The shop next door (across in the same lot) also has a good variety of Korean skin care products and household items. Definitely worth a visit. read more

Love this grocery store!! It's the best. They always have samples of the fruit in the produce section. I always pick up from their premade section. They have an array of banchans and marinated meats. They also have a hot food station for those grab and go moments. To avoid being a victim of crime, I get up early and get here between 8 & 9 am before all the criminals and Zombies come out. The parking lot and store is patrolled by some big security guards. When you come early parking in the front lot is easy. Koreana Market is well stocked with good quality meats, live seafood and produce. I like their shabu and KBBQ cuts of meats. It's got a lot of stuff but it's quite narrow. I kinda felt like it was chaos and a farmers market but the stuff they have is worth it. I got a nice chunk of tuna. But the steak I got for $12 should be nice right? It was very very hard to cook to make it tender or edible. It was very tough even with the fat between since it was a rib eye. I like to think I'm phenomenal at steaks since I have my own method. I was happily surprised that they had yuzu sauce. The peach I bought rotted the next day. I carried it with me not to bruise it but I think it might've been bruised earlier and sprayed with a anti spoil spray. I bought bone broth and found out it was flavored bone broth. Not the real stuff. If you are on a budget, this place works great if you're willing to look at deals and really pick your ingredients. Otherwise I would recommend weee. The workers there were very kind and helpful. Especially the security guard who gave my baby a snack. Thank you again! I love the sheer assortment of sauces and seasonings and gojuchang and frozen Korean foods that are easily re-heatable in the microwave, etc. The prices are fair, the grocery bags are super strong (I asked for a double bag and the cashier was adamant that the bags were super strong for carrying and she was right!), there are tons of great snacks and dumplings and soup mixes and some great ban chan items (not as many as some Korean markets in the south bay, though), and tons of parking. I can't wait to go back. I spent like $60 and am eager to go back and try various frozen food items that looked delicious and were much cheaper than at your local Safeway or restaurant. read more

I witnessed an older man cashier racially profiling two black women trying to pay. He was very rude and started going through their bags even as they were paying in cash. It's the holidays and living in the Bay Area is expensive. That is not okay. When I approached the counter to pay for my items he was also rude to me. With a security guarded parking lot, and a home/kitchen store right Nextdoor, they have everything you'd need; plus even when busy, lines never get too bad. This is my go-to on the reg Korean grocery store. Great selection, love that I can always find my Korean produce staples, natural brand dashima and soup-stock anchovies here. And their prepared foods and banchan are tasty (but as of 2025, pretty pricy). My one small gripe about this place is how much plastic cling film they use for EVERYTHING. I wish we could mobilize the Korean minds towards eco-consumerism. Some compostable containers/bags would make me want to buy more here. read more

Located near Lake Merritt in the heart of Downtown Oakland close to 980 and 580 freeways, Koreana Plaza Market is pretty easy to get to. Well....depending on time of day, especially during rush hour traffic. But it's pretty easy to navigate during the weekends. Discovered this gem of a place during the pandemic and we've been here several times since. I'm also very impressed by the safety precautions they have implemented by having someone constantly cleaning and disinfecting the shopping carts and they provide every customer with plastic gloves. They also have security outside to keep things in order. Similar to other Asian Supermarkets, they provide a lot of Asian and Korean products....especially to-go foods when you're in a rush and don't have much time to cook. They offer a lot of pre-packaged Korean specialty dishes. But if you're shopping to fill up your pantry, refrigerator and freezer to stock up on grocery items, this is also the place for that. From fresh fruits, veggies, seafood and all cuts of meat that you can't find from Safeway or Albertson's, this is certainly the place. The place is a bit dated, but they do a good job of keeping the place clean, decent and organized. The parking lot is also tiny, but just practice some patience and you will be rewarded with a spot. I was impressed by their diligence during the Covid procedure and also had a security guard inspection before going in. They have a pretty good size parking. They also have a supply store on the right for those that want to buy those Korean stone pots and utensils. I was very impressed with their cleanliness, inventory options and selections. They had a huge selection of kimchi, gochujang paste and drinks. They also have prepared marinated meats, veggies and soup mixes. Loved it! Some of the prices are kinda high but not by much. Trying to return a baby blanket that I purchased after 3 days. I found out that the blanket I purchased was too big for my granddaughter, (twin size). It was in the original packaging and unopened. Also the fact that I was not told that there is no return policy on blankets. They should be lenient on this return policy. Please don't purchase any blankets from this store. Shopping here for certain Asian necessity, they have a good selection of meats, vegetables, Ramen, and frozen food. They just opened a new section for bakeries where the old bakery was. However, I ate a mango creme sandwich and it had hints of garlic!! They need to have a separate knife for chopping chilis and garlic.
