I worked with GBC Rockville to complete a full renovation of my kitchen and bathroom in my DC condo. They were amazing to work with - highly recommend. Details: I first worked with Sussan on design. I had high level ideas of what I wanted, but no real experience in picking out all the elements that were needed to complete a design. Sussan proved to be a great partner for this - she visited my home first for measurements and to get a sense of my style. Then she invited me to the showroom to review materials. I really appreciated her willingness to work with me as I got an education on all of the choices needed to complete the design. I feel like the final product was exactly what I wanted - but I couldn't have done it as well without her. When the time came for the actual renovation, I was introduced to Jonathan as my project manager. Again, I have no real experience with contractors. But I am certainly familiar with all of the horror stories, so I was nervous about what to expect. This was literally the best experience with a service provider I have ever experienced. Jonathan kept me informed of progress, quickly consulted me when a choice needed to be made, and handled all of my nervous questioning and follow up with kindness and respect. That positive experience was backed up by the product. The team did quick and beautiful work. I was continually impressed by the high caliber of their work and so excited as I saw my design vision brought to light. I now have the kitchen and bathroom of my dreams - and it was delivered on budget and earlier than expected. No contractor nightmares here! As with all major work, there were some mistakes. But GBC handled them with a total focus on my satisfaction, and worked to make sure I felt pleased with outcomes every step of the way. I mentioned I live in a DC condo. This meant it was difficult to find a company that was willing to work with the restrictions that come from that experience (limited parking, shared elevators, strict HOA regulations). GBC took it all in stride - they made accommodations when needed to make sure they delivered for me without causing a fuss. I was delighted by my experience with GBC Rockville, and by my dealings specifically with Sussan, Jonathan, and also Luisa. GBC came highly recommended from one of our friends who also recently remolded, We had a fantastic experience working with Liz Rivas and her team GBC on our bathroom remodel. From the estimate to the final walk-through, the process was smooth and well-managed thanks to the frequent communication with the GBC team. We met Liz Rivas at the design studio on Rockville Pike, which was a great experience. They have lots of choices for both tiles and new materials. My husband and I could look at them together and make decisions, it was a very calm and cohesive process. We really appreciated having her knowledgeable about all our options to maximize our space and to guide us through which materials might work best. Once the project started Liz set up a group text communication with us and the project managers, which was key. This kept us all updated and gave us all the ability to check in regularly for timelines, to answer any concerns and to keep us all updated on the stages of the work. The crews were wonderful and efficient throughout the project. They were very organized in the demo, framing, painting, and installation. The final product is beautiful and completed to a high quality that will last for years. We worked with Pedro for our remodel of 3 bathrooms. Overall he was very knowledgeable, professional, patient, and has good design ideas. We were overall happy with the design he helped us pick out. The workers were very professional, polite, and kept a clean work space. The problem we had was the quality of the work and lack of oversight from the supervisor. We went with tiles on the shower floor. Unfortunately they layed the tiles with too much pitch, and the slope is uncomfortably pronounced. They acknowledged the error and attempted to fix it twice but it is still not how it should be. The grout work and caulking along the corners is sloppy. The picture below is after their attempts to correct their work. Lastly, the placement of the sink in the master bath was off. This was a point of contention. We felt that it was the responsibility of the bathroom designer to take the spacing into consideration. They felt that it was our responsibility to anticipate this ahead of time. If you want to brush your teeth or your hair you have to step off to the side otherwise your arm will hit the wall. No spacer was placed between the cabinet and the wall. read more

Had a redesign of bathroom and some work in the kitchen. Design ideas were good and implementation was fair. You do need to pay attention to the work that is being done or quality will slip. Project managers were responsive and if there are any problems they will work to resolve the issue. Pricing is definitely higher than a contractor, but your paying for a one stop shop that will handle all issues. read more

Bottom line: If you value your time, avoid this business!!! I was looking forward to potentially working with this company after reading so many glowing reviews on Houzz. Unfortunately my dealings with this business were a disaster from day 1. My family and I came to the Rockville "showroom" on 1/26/19. The store was supposed to open at 10 and the lady showed up at 10:15 to open the store. I went in with my kids to find that this was most definitely not a showroom, but more like an office space crammed with tile and a couple of small kitchen examples. Another couple arrived at the same time and the store employee immediately sat down with them to go over their bath design. After standing there awkwardly for a few minutes while my children squabbled nearby, I finally approached her and asked if I needed an appointment. She asked what we needed and I told her we have a kitchen and 4.5 baths to redo. She said we needed a home visit before doing anything else, which would have been nice to know before schlepping out to Rockville on a Saturday morning. (It doesn't say this anywhere on the website and I thought we'd be able to at least see a lot of design options in the "showroom".) After making an appointment, then rescheduling due to weather, I waited for someone at my house for our 9 am appointment on 2/1. Minutes ticked by with no call and no salesperson. Finally as I was pulling out of the driveway at 9:33 I saw someone walking up to the house. I left anyway (I left her a note). We arrived at their Rockville showroom at 10:30 am on a Saturday. They were closed even though their website and the sign on their door say they open at 10:00 am on Saturdays. I called their corporate number and the guy said that their designer had "an emergency appointment" and would be there in 20 minutes. I asked why there was no one there at a time when they were supposed to be open and he simply said that sometimes they have "emergency appointments" and aren't there. He never apologized. We're busy professionals and rearranged our Saturday to go to their showroom in the morning when they were supposed to be open. It was a waste of our time, not to mention extremely unprofessional. Like most people, we expect our contractors to be on time, reliable, and professional. We will not spend +$30,000 to remodel our kitchen with a contractor that cannot even open on time. read more

Love my kitchen remodel! Starting with my designer Luísa and Liz, they did an amazing job with my project. The crew are so clean and respectful, they wear mask all the time, leaving with a toddler I couldn't ask for more always cleaning and making sure my family was safe. My experience with GBC was a total success in this time of COVID. I'm ready to start my master bath and there is no doubt that I will hire GBC to complete my next project. After getting 4-5 estimates, we hired GBC for the renovation of our kitchen in a 50 year-old co-op building in DC. We could not be more pleased with the results of their work, especially after hearing all the reno disaster stories our neighbors told us during our search for a contractor. After several email exchanges (they responded to all promptly!), we met our project managers at the Rockville showroom to design a new kitchen within our budget. They were extremely helpful and patient as we worked through our options. There was no pressure, no "upselling" so we were very comfortable with our choices. The quoted price was very competitive with the other estimates we had gotten. This was a total renovation job - floor, cabinets, counter-top, back splash, lighting, electrical, and removal of an entire wall. The work crew came everyday 6 days/week and finished the job in less than 2 weeks! We weren't entirely satisfied with one issue so they sent the guy back to make it right and honestly our kitchen is perfect now. Which is good because the shower door and wall, installed by a subcontractor, needed several adjustments over several weeks, to stop leaking. Very poor customer service. First contacted them around September 28, 2018 to request a quote for the install of a steam shower. I told them I accepted the quote and ask them to move forward. About two weeks later they responded and said that I would need to sign a contract. I said OK and told them that they needed to contact my GC. Never got the contract, don't think they ever contacted the GC. Did not hear anything from them until I contacted them on November 2. They responded that they had misquoted me the original price and now it was going to be almost DOUBLE what they originally quoted me. Went from $4,500 to $7,700!!! What a bunch of crooks! Be aware don't believe anything they tell you!!!! And don't expect them to call, email, or contact you to keep you informed about your project. read more

These folks did a great job for us, and at a very competitive price. We got good guidance on making choices for materials as well. At first, we hired them to do a full renovation of our kitchen. We were so pleased with the results, as well as the work ethic and staying on schedule, that we then asked them back to renovate our Jack & Jill master bath and our powder room/ laundry area as well. Luisa did a solid job of coordinating everything, and had very good back up when she was on vacation over the holidays. Special thanks also to Florina for helping us pick out the most gorgeous backsplash ever and providing other valued guidance. The guys who did the work on site were also really good. Nice work, long hours and worked some Saturdays to keep the projects moving. When once in a while a correction was needed, they took care of it promptly and with a positive attitude.
