My fiancé got his first tattoo here today and he loved it so much that we are back getting him another. They are having a flash tattoo sale right now so it was an awesome experience. Everyone here is very kind and accommodating. We had Tian as our first tattoo artist and he's so funny and nice. Especially since it was our first experience with tattoos, he took his time and gave us all the aftercare information. We will update after the 2nd tat

I've always wanted a tattoo but didn't find anyone in the bay area with a style that I liked. Social media is creepy and knew GH was my girl. Emailing was super easy with her assistant Max. I asked so many questions through email and Max was very responsive. I booked my December appointment WAY in advance in August. I absolutely love her smokey style and wanted a chrysanthemum. We agreed on a price and I paid a deposit through venmo. I did not get a preview of the design until my appointment. Come appointment day immediately loved the preview that she showed me on her iPad. I just had 1 minor adjustment along with making it bigger. We agreed on the price and she got things set up. The tattoo is 7.5 inches and took about 3 hours. She took at least 2 breaks that were honestly very welcomed. I have given birth to two kids and this tattoo is right up there on the pain scale. After the tattoo was done she sanitized it and then took pictures. Then, she put second skin over it and gave me aftercare instructions and balm. I don't know how I was so lucky to come across her ad. I am so happy with my tattoo and the details. Highly recommend.

Got my first tattoo here this past weekend! I was with my bestie who has had many, and we both felt comfortable here, super clean, and the tattoo artists really made it easy to capture what we wanted, print out the design in multiple sizes to try on, even multiple of the same size to find the right spot. I'm not sure if that is standard in most shops, but it really gave me a lot of comfort with it being my first one! I had GH, and I'm going to affectionately refer to her as "God's Hand" bc it was perfectly done!

Grant at Modo Ink was amazing! He fit us 3 girls in and was so patient & kind the entire time. We spent about 2.5 hours at the studio laughing, giggling, and having the best time together. We were super loud (so sorry Modo and guests). We were just so excited and happy to be together, getting our silly and cute dumpling tattoo. We showed Grant what we wanted and he was so kind to work with us and show us what would work and what wouldn't work. We love tiny tiny tattoos but he explained that in doing certain designs that over time as it heals it would just turn into a huge blob. We really appreciate the heads up and advice. I was looking for a local studio and stumbled on Modo Ink on Yelp. Went to their site and browsed through various artists and their work, and Vicki's work really stuck out to me! So I reached out to her for an appointment and was scheduled within a couple of weeks. I emailed her some pictures of what I wanted. When I got to my appointment, she showed me some designs she made and I picked the one I preferred in the size I wanted and off we went! I was expecting it to hurt but it didn't! Microblading hurt significantly more! She was attentive, meticulous, and friendly! I love my tattoo and would definitely go back to Vicki if I want more in the future!

My friends and I all came in as walk-ins. They were all so accommodating, timely, and kind! I was not afraid of asking them for new sizing or placements because they made me feel so comfortable. The place is so clean and they wipe EVERYTHING. They even sent me high quality pictures of my tattoo so I can show it off. The lining for my tattoo is also so sleek, despite being fine line and so small. All in all, I highly recommend. The staff was nice from start to end, tattoos turned out great, and the place is so clean and comfortable.

I had a really stressful experience due to weird communication and unfortunate events. I contacted Grant late July with a photo of a tattoo he did that I loved. I told him I wanted something very similar to that. With his guidance, I communicated my ideas and his responses were positive. Mid-September, I sent my deposit for an early October appointment. I told him I'd be flying down from San Francisco just for the tattoo, and that I was excited because I loved his other design so much. Up to 5 days before the appointment, I hadn't heard from Grant, so I went ahead and drew on my arm essentially what I wanted in terms of placement and "brushstroke" size and flow, and sent it to him. He said that it was very useful, and that he would get started on the design in the next couple days. 2 days before my appt, I check in. He says he'll get started on the design that night. I purchase my flight and rental car. The day of, I hadn't heard from him. I flew down, rented a car, and with two hours to spare, emailed him to offer to bring him boba. He responds that he hasn't designed the tattoo, and asks to cancel and reschedule. I call the studio and ask if I can get a refund on my deposit. They tell me to hold, and come back to tell me that he didn't mean to cancel, he just wanted to push back the start time an hour I arrive at the new start time. Wait around for half an hour. Grant arrives extremely apologetic, and kindly asks me to look at the ideas he has for my tattoo. They're all bits and pieces that are pretty but that I'm not crazy about, and I do my best to collage something I like together while switching from English to my average Chinese when he doesn't seem to understand what I'm saying. I tell him that I wouldn't mind using similar themes and designs as the inspiration tattoo; he says that tattoo artists don't like doing this, so I drop it. The designing takes a few hours, and the ink work is started but left unfinished so I can catch my return flight. I really wish I hadn't been put in a position where the design and ink work had to be rushed with last minute and shaky communication. I'd invested so much time and money in this experience and tried to stay positive, but came out of it feeling pressured and let down. I don't know how to explain how difficult and stressful I felt the communication was, and I don't have the financial or schedule flexibility to go back anytime soon. Grant graciously offered free touch-ups without a time limit, and maybe even gave me a discount given my experience, but I won't be going back. I am again expressing that my tattoo is pretty to reiterate that Grant is talented, but the tattoo is now a constant reminder of a really stressful and disappointing experience.

Modo Ink is beyond amazing!!! I have gotten over 10 tattoos with different artists including Chris, Jonah, Jimmy, and Aleen. I live significantly closer to their Orange location, but have no problem driving at to Alhambra for the top tier quality. Both locations are extremely clean and comfortable. My last tattoo was with Chris and it's the hand of God to a kitty paw (see pic). FYI: like others have mentioned, some artist book pretty far out, so be sure to plan ahead! also, each artist has their own pricing and can usually give you an estimate over email. read more

Came here for my Friday the 13th flash tattoo. There was a huge line but my sister and I managed to get it done on the same day. Grant was very friendly. I got a little ox tattoo on my ankle. The first time I got a tattoo here I was very satisfied, it turned out exactly as expected. The second time I got a tattoo here I was not satisfied. The line work was wobbly, the circles not circular, the dots no uniform. The line work did not match the stencil and overall I believe it does not look great, I am looking into getting it fixed soon. This place is so nice! I came in with 3 other people with no appointment and they took us right in! They were super patient and helpful. They gave us reference photos we can look at. Tian was my tattoo artist. He broke down the whole procedure. I got my tattoo on the back of my ear. They took their time making sure the placement and size were to my liking. Tattoo was not painful at all! The studio is super clean and quiet. not overwhelming at all. All of the staff were super sweet and knowledgeable. They also take bomb ass photos of your tattoos at the end and send them to you! Will be coming back for sure! read more

My artist was Gary, and he did a fantastic job throughout the entire process. I was scrolling through Instagram when his page popped up on my feed. I saw some of his designs and fell in LOVE. I specifically saw the snake tattoo (see photos) and immediately wanted it. After messaging him, Gary replied promptly. I appreciated his responsiveness and ability to quickly get me an appointment. Booked an appointment here with Element and so happy with my results! I found Element on Instagram and loved her fine line, dainty tattoos and decided to get two small tattoos on my wrist and a tattoo on my ankle. It was easy to set up an appointment with her through Instagram and she was very responsive. When I got to the studio, everything was super quick and I was done with everything in less than 2 hours! Got my first tattoo done by Vivi and had an amazing experience. The place was clean and seemed sterile lol but most importantly Vivi was awesome. Showed me several size examples of what I wanted and was able to place the tattoo in the right place where it'll look the best. Good thing I didn't get it on my butt hahahaha just kidding. But I'd recommend Vivi for all first timers or anyone looking to get some work done Will be booking a couple more with Vivi soon read more

My daughter and I got matching tattoos with GH on mother's day. Max was very responsive during the appointment process and was even able to add on my daughter to my appointment. GH was super patient with design and placement and really helped us make sure we were happy with everything before she started tattooing. Gary from Modo Ink is by far one of my fav artists! I just moved back to the area and my last tattoo artist was incredibly talented but had no bedside manner. Gary made sure that I was comfortable and really liking the designs since it'll be on my skin forever! He didn't push me to do anything I didn't want to do and was really kind even though I kept accidentally kicking him because of the piece getting done on my leg made me kick more than I thought it would. He was patient the whole time! I got two tats done and I love them both! He was kind enough to reschedule my first appointment too since I had health issues going on. Also the parking is in the back of the building! I missed it when I first got there. The entrance is right across from the car wash place! read more

I got my very first tattoo with Peter. Peter was collaborative and patient with me, even when I completely changed the initial design. He continued to work with me until I was happy with the design. He did a great job with explaining what he was doing, especially since this was my first tattoo. He has light hands, so much so, that there were times I didn't even feel anything, even as I watched the needle penetrate my skin. I've felt more pain with papercuts than getting tattooed. Good tattoos, not so good people…read more I got my first tattoo by Jess years ago. The tattoo was simple and came out decent. The experience, however, was horrible. I wanted the design to be smaller, there was something wrong with the printer that day and the shop assistant had trouble making the stencil smaller. After a couple of tries Jess starts roid raging and slams the clipboard on the counter (I kid you not) and said something like whatever man I'll hook you up, meaning he's willing to tattoo it bigger for me even though I didn't want it that size. Wow, geez thank you your majesty Jess Yen, I am so blessed to get something I didn't want after watching you act out violently. Years later I decided to try again, this time with his apprentice Lucy. I had a phone consultation with her and she agreed to do my tattoo saying that her wait time is 2-3 years. I agreed and paid her a deposit. It's been more than 10 years now and I have not heard from her or gotten my deposit back. When I reached out to her, she tried to gaslight me saying that I missed my appointment. I was never informed of an appointment. First the owner display questionable emotional stability over something a little as resizing the stencil and then his apprentice scams me for a few hundred dollars. Yeah, this place gets negative stars if I could.

He wanted double bands around his forearm and Sam was able to sketch it out and do the tattoo on the same day. We were in and out within 1.5 hours. He explained the process and aftercare which made getting a tattoo seamless and less daunting. I was on the fence about getting a tattoo but my friend said if he got one I would have to get one too. I decided to get a runner with an ekg as I thought it was fitting for me. I wanted something small for my first tattoo and easily to keep hidden from my mom (sorry mom). He asked me to send him a picture of what I wanted and scheduled an appointment for Monday at 11am. Once Monday came I walked over and signed the consent form. He then printed out the tattoo and placed the outline on my chest and asked me if it was where I wanted it. Being a tattoo noob I trusted his judgement. After letting the outline dry I laid down and he began working on the piece. He said since it was a small tattoo and mainly lines there shouldn't be much pain and the healing process wouldn't be as long. It took about 30 mins to finish up the tattoo and the quality came out amazing. There was no pain at all and he went over the aftercare as well. I showed Sam this other tattoo I wanted and he said he would be able to do that as well. He says his art style is realism and anime so I can't wait to get more work done by him. He has been tattooing for 2 years now along with his apprenticeship. He told me to message him when I'm ready for my next piece. Maybe this tattoo thing is an addiction and will keep you coming back for more.

When I first came in for a consultation with Chris, I was definitely a bit nervous having it be my first tattoo. She had explained the process of what was going to happen and what I wanted the piece to be like. We discussed the elements of the piece and kind of the rough vision of how it was going to look on the location on my body I had mentioned to her. About 2-3 days before the follow up appointment, she sends me a rendering of the piece and I was absolutely in love with it. We talked a bit over email on a small section of the design that I wanted to change up a bit, but for the most part, she was super accommodating and understanding. The day to actually get the tattoo rolls around and Chris was super careful to make sure the piece looked just right on my arm before doing any template application or even touching the needle. There was great care in hygiene and ensuring the piece was going to come out just as we had discussed. After some fiddling for a bit, she finally felt comfortable applying the template to my arm to get started. She had me greenlight every part of the process and explained each part she was doing. 6 hours later, I had a half sleeve that still looks great to this day. (It's only been a week lol) She had explained the aftercare and what to expect during the healing process. She provided me with some Secondskin and some ointment for after I took it off. Great experience, tattoos hurt more than I initially thought lol, but only around joint areas, otherwise, I almost fell asleep during certain parts of it. Will definitely be coming back for another. read more

I got ink from Si Mai and he was awesome! He was so nice and cooperative, always willing to communicate and friendly! He speaks multiple languages including English, Mandarin and Korean. He has no problem adjusting tattoo placements and is wonderfully accommodating! He gave me my first two tats, and I am really happy with how they turned out! During both of them I nearly passed out for some reason, but he was really patient caring while I was having a rough time. He helped me get myself together so that I could finish the tattoo! I would like to thank Gee Ink for having such high quality artists as Dylan in their shop. I highly reccomend Dylan. He really has highly impressive skills in line work, shapes, precision, text, and fonts that I think rivals that of most other shops and artists I have seen. The way he did my work it looked like the fine detailed design I picked was literally stamped on my skin it was so clean crisp and exact. Even with a very subtle font for a text.
