I've stumbled upon Geeks and Games just buying my son a Pokémon booster pack when we got back into Pokémon together. We were told there were Pokémon tournaments on Fridays and Saturdays. I walked into the store, not knowing they didn't open for another 15 minutes, and was told they were closed, but the door was open. Then I asked if they'd set a pokemon set aside for me so when I came back I could buy it when they were open and was told they wouldn't hold it and it was first come first serve. Clearly I was the first to come that day, but was given short curt answers they offered no flexibility and made me feel worthless as a customer to them. I'll never come back. Good luck treating your customers that way. Next time lock your door if you are such a stickler for your rules, you could have avoided alienating a customer. read more

I've been in Geeks and Games at least 3x now. Each time, I've been very impressed by how friendly and knowledgeable the staff is. When I indicated some of my interests, they let me know there were some organized intro play sessions coming up where a semi complicated game (Necromunda) would be taught and played. Of course I came to one of those and had a great time. The shop doesn't look very large from the outside, but they have a pretty good selection of both board and miniature games, plus some pretty good sized playing tables. This is such a fun game store in OC. I needed some more puzzles so stopped in here to find some. They had a bunch to choose from and they have a nice variety of games as well! A great place with friendly staff, willing to go the extra mile for their customers. They have a wide selection of board games and RPG games, as well as miniatures and models. You can buy a miniature or two (or 20), and then grab a table and paint them right in the shop. They have regular games that are held multiple times per week, including kid-focused D&D sessions, Warhammer games, and much more. Included in all of the sessions are those focused on painting, miniature creation, and model building. The staff is extremely kind to their customers and very accommodation, even of families with small children; they even have a Thomas the tank engine train set for the really small kids. I'm looking forward to their forthcoming expansion into the space next door, where they will add additional inventory space as well as significantly more tables for gaming. This is a gem of a hobby shop. The selection is out of this world and the prices seem very fair. The staff is super nice. Helpful but not the least bit pushy. I cannot believe their selection of Warhammer miniatures. My brain almost exploded... and I'm not even into Warhammer. They have a nice selection of Gundam and other models. Last year my daughter attended their Kids Winter D&D Camp and had a blast. She is not always the most social kid, but the environment at Geeks & Games was safe and inviting, and she really opened up and blossomed with the group. This year, we're sending her to camp again, and this time her little brother is going too. I've made several purchases at this store, and I have always been pleased with the experience. The products themselves are great, but the experiences I've had there are what keep me coming back. Not only are the owners fun and knowledgeable, but they make it clear they are eager to listen to customers and learn from their feedback. When Oregon City High School was struggling to find a venue to showcase their art students' fantasy artwork, I said, "I know the perfect place!" Sure enough, not only did G&G work with the school to showcase the art, they also helped sell several pieces for the artists, and even purchased some themselves. They are supportive of local game designers, and encourage people to develop their talents and have fun doing it. My wife loves attending the painting classes they offer, and even though she doesn't consider herself an artist, she's made some amazing paintings there. The owners are always looking for ways to get involved in the community. La Donna has hosted meetups for MOB (Mommy Business Owners) and promotes NCWC (North Clackamas Women's Club) meetings, even when hosted at other businesses. I was born and raised in Oregon City, and this is the kind of store I always wished we had around here. And now we do! I have lived in OC for going on 6 years and wish I had discovered this hidden Gem long ago. They have a great selection of games, and their prices are fair. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. I have really enjoyed speaking with them and it's more than fair to say, they have influenced my purchases. My kids and I have enjoyed spending time together learning new games picked up on recommendations. My daughter collects Pokémon cards and collectibles, Geeks and Games never disappoints. Since walking in on a whim about a year ago, I have really enjoyed the environment, the staff, and the awesome selection. We walked in and the female that was there working was trying to help us. We googled a game store and that was the closest one. The owner snapped at us saying they didn't have anything to do with video games. We asked them if they knew where we could go. The female who happened to be the owners wife started looking for us and the owner cut her off to say we were being rude and he didn't appriciate our attitude. A customer started to tell us where we could go and the owner cut him off to say more rude things to us. We had our 8 year old son with us and he was trying to get a new game for his birthday. The owner was so rude to us for just asking questions about where we could go. I have never been treated so badly in my life by any business. I do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Good selection of games and variety of table top gaming products. However when a customer walks into a store and is glared at by employees and and treated like a criminal by them is unacceptable. Only person who even got up to help me was the store owners wife who asked if I needed help finding anything. This shop is fantastic. I went in looking for miniature paints and they had by far the best selection in stock of any store I've been to in Portland. The staff was also incredibly helpful as I'm new to painting and there was no air of superiority like I've received at other stores-just a genuine desire to help and teach. Also, they do paint rentals for $5 which is a steal (you buy the mini and they supply paint/brushes/tools) and they will give you advice on techniques if desired or leave you alone if desired. Finally, I bought a chess board here and when I got home I saw that it had a large scratch on it and they swapped it out for my with no issue and no questions asked. The atmosphere is awesome, the customer service is awesome, Geeks & Games is just awesome. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever seen. I came in to return an unopened game with the receipt. They refused to refund my money. No return policy on the receipt or posted in the store. When I asked for an explanation, the owner literally verbally confronted me, called me a bully, raised her voice and began arguing with me. I support local businesses, that's why I went there in the first place, but come on do the right thing. No excuse for how I was treated. Don't buy anything from this place. I moved to Oregon City last summer, and shortly after, I noticed that they had their store near the Bi-Mart where we were (now) shopping. When I had some free time, I ventured in, and was quite pleased to see that they had everything that I could ask for as a gamer. They had a decent selection of new games to choose from, a game library to use, and a good space to be able to play games in the store. In addition, they also have a selection of snacks and goodies for purchase, as well as supplies for painting my miniatures, which I tend to do.
