Horrible customer service!!!!! I had my car stolen it was 79 to insure my 1996 camry alone with two drivers. I had the car for 4 or 5 years. In october i bought my second car a 2003 lancer and added is to our insurance. Liability went up to 112 for both. I'm December my camry was stolen. I filed my claim with the police and insurance. A few days later when I called to take the camry off the insurance plan the lady from the theft dept was horrible! She had so much attitude and when I asked why my lancer on its own was now costing me 150 and my camry cost me almost half that she legitamitly in a snotty voice said ones a 1996 toyota camry, ones a 2003 lance they're totally different cars. You can't even compaiiiirrrr the two! And basically hinted I should leave stolen car on there because I had a two car discount. Fast forward to two days ago (1/19) I get a call saying they towed my car to a tow yard. I called my insurance to see if they'd cover it (the police dispatch informed me they should) I called and talked to a very nice lady who assured me MULTIPLE times they'd cover it and transferred me to Staphano to handle the claim. Well guess what! He said they wouldn't cover it because I didnt have comprehensive, but if I added comprehensive in the future they'd cover it then and that he recommended "getting it out soon because they charge me more every day!" I felt pressured to enroll in autopay to get the lowest rate. When I told them no, I will make the payment on my own, I was told then I have to go with higher rate. I have been insured with them before and don't recall having to enroll. I'm not happy. Will look for other insurance that doesn't hold you hostage. read more

I signed up with geico a year ago over the phone, used a bank card to pay for my 6 months. geico then charged me monthly for 6 months for what I don't know to the tune of 480+ dollars(more than I pay for a year of insurance), they told me I had authorized my card info to be used on some unrelated persons policy. this was false as I told them at the time of my purchase that this was a "one time" thing and that I'd be sending a check when I renewed. it took several hours on the phone with geico, and several trips to my bank, and several months time to finally get refunds by filing fraud claims. the bank folks told me that geico refunded nothing despite the banks repeated attempts to get proper refunds. I saved maybe 20 or 30 dollars by switching to geico in the first place, but lost all of that through time spent trying to sort out the illegal charges to my bank account. I went back to my old provider, I'm paying a few bucks more now, but with the peace of mind provided by an agent I can go and talk to, who is accountable and handles my bank info responsibly. catchy commercials may have persuaded me to try geico, but shoddy and illegal business practices pushed me back to state farm.... the few bucks of savings was totally not worth it, Alec Jones read more

My relationship with Geico started with a special circumstance. My wife was in an accident which totaled her van a couple weeks prior to Mother's day. While waiting on the insurance to settle, we couldn't wait around any longer for a solution for our family's transportation needs to we found an opportune time on Mother's day to go car shopping. We ended up making a purchase but the transaction was close to the closing hour at the car dealership and the final paperwork didn't complete until close to midnight. Needless to say, my Farmers agent wasn't around to answer his phone and we needed insurance to drive the car off the lot. With little options available late at night we called Geico and was able to secure a policy in no time flat and drive off with our brand new car. I would give Geico 5 stars for that initial interaction because they were around when no other providers were around at midnight. Fast forward 6 months when it comes time to renew my policy, I decided to see if it would make sense to move all my vehicles over to Geico. I had 2 additional vehicles to obtain a quote for (total of 3 cars). The first time I called Geico about the quotes, I answered all the questions the agent had for me about each new vehicle I wanted them to quote. They asked very detailed questions about how I was to use each vehicle including the anticipated use of each vehicle. I answered all questions honestly and told the agent I will be using the Geico quote to compare with a Farmer's quote to be fair to both vendors as I made my decision. After a long call with the agent on the phone, I got my quote all written down including all the details of the coverage. I was told by the agent that the quote would also be saved to my online account. I went to obtain a quote from Farmers and was asked to provided the details from Geico for an apples-to-apples comparison. Farmers wanted a print-out of the quote so I went online to get the quote details. When I logged in, I did not find the quote at all on my profile as I was advised. I had to call back in a 2nd time. I was told by the 2nd agent that the quote was not saved for some reason, possibly an error online of some sort. The 2nd agent proceeded to create a new quote. They went through all the questions that the first agent asked me, which took a bit of time to get through all their questions. Now, keep in mind, I disclosed as truthfully as I can to the use of each vehicle because I want to get the quotes based on the exact same criteria from both companies. After all the questions I asked for the quote to be saved online so I can print it out to compare with Farmers. That way, I can be sure both companies are quoting the same thing. The good news was that I was able to find the quote online this time. The price had increased from the first quote. Which I didn't mind at the time because I hadn't received the quote from Farmers to compare with. Unfortunately, once I hung up with the agent, I went to my online account to print out the details and found that there were none. The way Geico quotes, they provide you with just the incremental changes to your account. They don't provide you with an itemized breakout of your premium and what it covers. So, at this point, I had to call in a third time to see if they can fax me a detailed quote that is itemized. When I called in, the third agent (different agents each time) started asking me the same questions about coverage and my cars just as the last two agents did. I was a bit agitated, but I went ahead with answering all the questions once again. This time, I made sure that before I hung up I was able to get into my quote and print out details. I thought the third call was going to do it. The overall premium is even lower and the agent showed me how to go into the quote and print out details by walking through a 'modify quote' process. That means to view the details of my coverage in the quote, I have to click through the details like if I'm going to make a change to the quote. Seems fair enough since that is instructions from the agent. The agent also advised that online, I cannot specify the anticipated annual mileage for my recreational vehicle (the spare care I only drive to the local starbucks to get a coffee with) below 15K miles per year. The agent, said that my quote, though, reflects that I anticipate to only drive that car less than 3K miles per year. Okay..all good. I printed out the quote and details and obtained a quote from Farmers. Unfortunately, Farmers couldn't beat the quote and the agent I had with Farmers told me honestly why. They were able to match my two older cars, but wasn't able to beat the prices in Geico's quote for the new car. Too bad, I thought. It looks like the winner is Geico. - no more space to write. Going back to Farmers after having to deal with too many agents telling me different things and wasting my time. read more

I only bought this insurance because I was tricked into thinking I'd only end up paying $117. I kept getting annoyed by random check up calls from them even after I bought the insurance at $160 due to some unkown ticket I got in another state. They couldn't even tell me what car the ticket was assigned to...that aside what really pissed me off is because I said the word "b****" in reference to my ex probably speeding in my car getting and not telling me she got ticketed. The customer service immediately hung up on me and I had to call back to a less than resputable customer service rep and a manager that coulnd't even answer me as to why his employees kept calling and annoying me even after I bought the insurance. I had been treated horribly by company, Farmers Insurance, so when I bought the new car, I made the decision to not go with Farmers. I called Geico from the dealer, received the quote and then they couldn't insure me because their underwriting department was closed for the holiday!!! Are you kidding me? Labor Day is a huge car buying day; I can not believe they would not insure me on that day. I went to Progressive and I am paying higher rates than what Geico quoted me. VERY disappointed with how Geico treated me today. I've been a Geico customer for about 5 years now, and would expect better service than I received. I've always paid my bills on time because I do automatic payments, but sometimes life happens. My purse was stolen so all of my cards had to be canceled. I then called Geico to update my payments using a new card. Apparently somebody didn't do their job correctly, or something happened and it was not updated. Therefore resulting in a rejected payment. I don't check my email often, (and yes, thats my fault) so I didn't see that they had sent me an email saying my payment was declined, and needed to be updated. I called today to update it, and they informed me that my policy had been canceled because of the non-payment (only a few weeks after initial payment was due). I asked to reinstate my policy, but was told I'd now have to pay the FULL 6 months. I was upset about this, but I understand and agreed to pay. They go through the process of reinstating it, but then say now I'd have to pay more than double what I paid before, and they wouldn't be able to give me insurance through Geico, it would be their sister company which was below the preferred Geico customer service. I had one "at fault" fender bender with low repair costs and no injuries earlier in the year, no other marks on my record. I literally had 2 weeks in lapse of coverage because of a simple mistake and didn't see the email they sent me until today. I feel there should have been a call, or something other than an email. WHAT THE F**K?! Seriously, this is how you treat your customers?! You have lost my business for good. I was able to find better insurance through Esurance. Our car recently was flooded while parked in an off-site parking garage. While the garage owner and attendants were, basically, nonexistent to our phone calls as to , "...what happens now?", Geico reps, once notified, had our car towed, evaluated and a check cut within a few days time. On April 26th I was backing up in a parking lot and accidentally rear-ended another vehicle. I took photos at the scene and it was OBVIOUSLY a bumper to bumper accident. This was a he-said she-said situation. The lady that I hit aparently told the adjuster that I also did damage to her liftgate. They determined that it was my fault EVEN though I have photos that obviously prove the damage was ONLY to the bumper. They are charging me extra money every month. They were so inconsiderate. Do NOT go with these guys. Story: back in may I pretty much got a double whammy when I got sprays by a gravel truck and hit and run in my colleges parking lot within one week. I was with geico for 3 years when this happened. I had to file 2 separate claims and us 2 separated deductibles. I had also just moved that month and told them I would have to wait to fix the bumper until I had the money. I need up paying for the windshield out of pocket because it was about $90 cheaper and I let them know I took care of it. Then they started calling me almost every day about the bumper even though I told them I would let them know when I would be able to afford the deductible. Finally they stopped calling. So fast forward to today: I go online to my geico account in hopes of perusing the bumper claim only to find out that my policy had been canceled 2 WEEKS AGO!!! So I call to see what's going on. Apparently they have a "new policy" of reviewing policy's annually. And they "sent me the forms by mail in June" never saw anything. Then they tell me I can only have my policy renewed AFTER I send them the papers I never received. I find it funny that in all the time I never filled a claim, no policy reviews were ever required, but soon as they have to pay up, I got screwed with non existent paperwork and find out that I've been driving without insurance for 2 weeks unknowingly. Threatened with a policy cancellation letter (and told that it's essentially an empty threat) that either never should have been sent or because my wife's license was suspended. She's been with AAA in California (licensed by the way) for 5 years with no problems. Incompetent staff wasted hours of our time and told us something different each time. I shudder to think of what a nightmare it would be if there was an actual incident we'd need to deal with them. Tried them because they were cheapest but you get what you pay for. The worst insurance I have ever had. My truck was broken into stole all my stereo equipment. Reported it fist thing in the morning. That was three weeks ago. Just picked my truck from shop today after talking to a representative on the phone. I was told the police report wasn't good enough and the claim was being forwarded to a third party to make a determination on the day of the incident. I asked how this would be done and when would I hear from them. His answer was he doesn't know and wasn't trained in this area. I asked to talk to his supervisor. He replied they wouldn't know the answers. I then asked if me reporting the break in to insurance and having a police report didn't prove it took place how would a third party make a determination on what day it happened. He replied I don't know I'm not trained in this area. At this point I'm at a losss. I guess I will have to pay the $2,300 worth of damages and lose out on my stereo equipment.
