I live in the Keys, and I've been going to Geiger Key Marina for over a year and a half now, give or take a few months or days. What keeps me coming back is Traci the barmaid, who works on weekends which is when I tend to go there. She's the most wonderful person ever. The most professional, enjoyably funny down to earth barmaid in the Florida Keys. She's smart, so well versed in conversation (if you need someone to talk to she will look at you with her knowing eyes and you'll order another), and has such a sarcastic charisma for just making you feel like you want to be there. Service great. Ambiance great. Food not so great. Grouper basket, grilled. Looked old freezer burned, hard. They did offer to give another piece, but I declined. Next day, tried again, great service and ambiance. Ordered rib and chicken barbecue..one small burnt piece of chicken, dried out, and three not so "melt in your mouth ribs", for thirty bucks! Brought out wrong food, slow with drinks, didn't get us our high chair, but another server noticed and got it. Service was super slow. We ordered take out but we ordered it at the bar. Our third order was forgotten even though I told the bartender I needed 2 of a certain order. The kitchen was clearly backed up and the bigger man that I assume was the kitchen manager was very angry with the staff. The one waitress kept taking the wrong orders out from the table from what I could hear at the bar, since the other waiter kept trying to tell her to stop but she wouldn't listen. This place has been great for ever. I just keep working at it and making it better and better. The drinks are always cold, the location is fantastic, you can literally drive your boat there. We showed up on a Tuesday evening. Hardly anyone here. Ordered the Grouper special and the Stuffed Hog fish and Tuna nachos. Items arrived within a reasonable amount of time. This place is fantastic! We were seated outside on a very beautiful day and watched many people paddle board, kayak and boat by which was cool. We enjoyed a couple sweet cocktails and even ate lunch here. We shared Cajun hogfish tacos and they were outstanding! My husband ordered My daughter had been dying to have stone crab claws since we arrived in the Keys. We ordered a 1/2 lb which was about $32 if I remember correctly. She enjoyed cracking the claws open and of course the crab meat inside was as delicious as expected. The staff was very friendly! We were seated right away and offered drinks as well. The view is amazing and the restaurant/bar itself is such a fun atmosphere. I loved that there was not only multiple bathrooms but multiple stalls too. read more

Great spot just outside Key West! I had the coconut shrimp, peel-and-eat shrimp, and buffalo shrimp -- all were fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right. The coconut shrimp was crispy with a sweet dip, and the buffalo shrimp had the perfect kick. The waterfront atmosphere was awesome, especially with the live music playing in the background. Probably best meal our entire keys trip! Making the best of a drizzly, cloudy, windy day, we specifically sought out this highly recommended spot for a late lunch. Must have the Shrimp and Grits! Blackened shrimp, stone-ground grits, sauteed red and green bell peppers....I've never had them this good before. Oyster Po' Boy was packed with fried oysters and also a big table favorite! We dined in the open air on the covered deck and watched the misty rain in the mangroves and on the canal just beyond the railing. Red-winged blackbirds made several flyby and landings, well within camera range. They must like the shrimp and grits too! (Or maybe the fully loaded Bloody Mary, which was also picture perfect and tasty perfect!) Thanks, Jack, fellow Key West Tiki Bar patron for such an awesome tip! It was everything you said it would be and more! It is just a few minutes north of Key West and totally worth the short drive. From the moment we walked in, we had nothing but exceptional service. The view here is great!! When I come I love looking out in the water to see any fish or iguanas that may be nearby in the mangroves. Breakfast and dinner here is great!! You can't go wrong with either. I think the portion sizes are good as well. Not too much, but not too little. The service is usually pretty fast as well. Beautiful campground, friendly service very nice and small away from all the hubbub. You can rent a camper already set up. They have a nice variety. It's great bar there. The food is OK. I've had better but overall it's a great place and the people there are wonderful. read more

All were good and fairly priced for the extremely expensive Keys. The setting is very nice, on the water with kayaks and boats going by. It was a really pretty view but once the sun started going down the bugs started getting a little bad but what do you expect being in the mangroves. Atmosphere was great and we come here every year. We got one of the specials steak and shrimp Kabobs for $22 which really was not the best. Steak was fatty and not seasoned. Lobster bisque was great. Beer steamed shrimp was not world famous and actually enjoyed the Hurricane hole and sloppy joes on Key West better. Not bad but not really a beer taste. We had a party of 10. Service was great and fast and friendly. Grouper tacos others got I am told were great. I got the watermelon mixed drink and it was refreshing but I am not sure it had any alcohol in it. We do come every year and have for 7 years but I'm not sure the food is worth the price. read more

We had an amazing time visiting Geiger Key Marina for dinner last Saturday. The staff was super friendly, the views of the channel were amazing, the food and drinks were superb! We got an extra treat when a local musician from Key West, Oren Polak, performed while we were there. We had actually heard about him from friends of ours before we got to the Keys. His show was a great mix of genres, and he took everyone's requests too! I requested a song for my wife (from our wedding) and tipped (of course!) He was so sweet and congratulated us on our anniversary before playing our song. We're going to find him playing when we get to Key West in a couple of days! This is a hidden gem in the keys. Little bit of a ride off US1 but worth it. We actually stopped by a second time because it was so good. The burger is the best I've had on the east coast. Flavorful and juicy, cooked perfectly. Fries are good as well. The hogfish taco is full of flavor was a new experience, but very good. The shrimp enchiladas were a nice surprise, very tasty and the rice and beans are a perfect compliment to them. The water at the dock is full of fish to watch, and view across the water is great. Service is fantastic, friendly and quick. Made for a really enjoyable lunch. Definitely recommend. read more

Geiger Key Marina is a two-fold new favorite for me and my family who have been visiting the Keys for over 40 years. The short review is about the kayaking eco tour they offer. If you have a chance, reserve a few kayaks and go make some memories while paddling around the beautiful, scenic mangrove islands. Buy one of their super cool Geiger Key Eco Tours sun shirts if you want to add to the fun. The marina restaurant is where I intend to review because this is where the average person is going to engage with this business. Many of us don't own boats and although they offer RV campsites, the capacity is so limited it would only be a select few who experience camping at Geiger Key as opposed to the hundreds of customers that can experience the bar/restaurant each day. First off, try the grouper cheeks. After that, pick whatever beer (Crazy Lady blonde ale, wink wink) suits your fancy and go on to try anything else on the menu. Having been by there a few times over the past two years I've found nothing but friendly people and a good food and drink menu. Geiger Key Marina is off the beaten path and definitely worth spending a minute exploring. Sit down and spend a minute an arm's length from the beautiful water of the Keys and you will not be disappointed if a few minutes turns into an hour or two. A short drive from Key West and a short drive from Marathon, Geiger Key should be worth anyone's time. read more

I do like Geiger Key, and I will continue to come here. Perfect place to watch the sunset, listen to live music, and drink a tropical cocktail. I have been here numerous times and whenever I have guests in town I bring them here. But their service and food is not consistent. I have had many wonderful meals here, especially the chili and the whole fried snapper. However, there are times when everything was subpar. Like I said, it's just not consistent. They are currently renovating the kitchen so the menu is extremely limited. I will return when the renovation is completed. I love it's atmosphere and location. read more
