I recently went back to Nick after moving away from Austin for a few years. I was back in town for my Uncle's wedding and after ONLY Nick cutting my hair from 2013-2016, I knew I could trust him. When I arrive for my 12:00pm appointment, Nick was just getting out of the shower and I seemed to catch him off guard. Once he let me into the building, he immediately told me he was sorry and had a crazy evening. I'm a pretty understanding person, but the next hour or so was very troubling. Nick proceeded to find every reason he could not to give me a haircut. He offered to share a whiskey, he wanted to smoke first, he even asked if we could go grab lunch before he would cut my hair. I did not have the time, so I really pushed him to cut my hair. Finally after explaining to me what has happened to him over the time I've been gone, he started to cut my hair. Once he got to that, he finally seemed to be the Nick that I used to know. Although he did mess up my goatee and I just asked him to take it all off and would let it grow back. The haircut was fine as it always was, but my goatee trim was definitely not what I asked for. Once everything was done, he asked me to drop him at the store and I obliged, as Nick was considered a friend. I'm not sure I will ever go back to him now. Nick, if you're reading this please get some help. Take a vacation or something. You are not the same guy I met 5 years ago, please for your own sake. It truly saddened me to see someone that I respected as a person, who earned his way into his own chair from The Good Life where I first saw him years ago, to what I experienced during my last visit. Wish I could have received a haircut as good as all of the other guys. Where to start? First I scheduled an appointment at 1:30. As I'm pulling into the parking lot 10 min before I'm supposed to get my haircut, I get a call to inform me that he's running a little late and can I wait 30 min. I reluctantly say yes. At this point I should have gone with my gut and left and gone somewhere else. All of the rave reviews and 5 star ratings made me think it was worth waiting for. That was not the case. 1 hour later I'm getting my hair cut. So I'm pissed and running late for the beer fest. Not happy but I've already waited this long why not. I sit down tell him how I want it cut and he tells me that it won't work with my hair. I think to myself really, I've been getting it cut like this for 3 years and no problems. I can't do much about it he's already cutting my hair how he thinks it should be done. Then because he's already late. Rushes me through the haircut and the beard trim. It's ok. Beard is a little longer on one side and I don't get a straight shave which I scheduled. He did only charge me $40 for a beard trim and haircut. Yeah I tipped him because I just wanted to get out of there without a hassle. I had a feeling there would have been drama if I didn't tipped. So $50 dollars later I'm late to the beer fest and I have a haircut I'm not happy with. In conclusion I will not be returning to nick. I just can't rely on someone who is inconsiderate of my time. Then we started late and his next appointment showed up and he rushed at the end and was getting impatient with me. Kept rambling about how he was doing such an amazing service for me. That may be true but I'm paying to do so. Not a people person, doesn't know how to treat customers, I'm amazed that he has people return. I've been to the box store style salons, the smaller ones that claim to be barbershops and the actual barbershops, but it's hard to beat a quiet place with a one on one experience with a pro like Nick. He listened to what I wanted and made sure the conversation never died out. A consemate professional through and through! I recently went to Geiser Barbering after an extensive search online for the best barber shop with quality personal service. After selecting Geiser I made an appointment for a Saturday at 9:00 am. I arrived for my appointment on time and entered the dark shop with no one there. It was raining and I waited about 10 minutes before Nick arrived. He walked in and acted startled seeing me there but apologized for being late. He then proceeded to turn on lights, then he swept the floor, checked his phone and then sprayed and combed his hair. Finally, he decided to proceed with my haircut and beard trim, but not before asking how I heard about his shop. He then had to educate me about his qualifications and to find out what kind of haircut I wanted. I told him I had been going to a stylist for years and wanted him to do what he thought would be best for my hair, receding hairline, shape of my head and new beard. While he finally started to cut my hair, his next appointment arrived. He then started apologizing to him for being late because I was a new customer and implied that I didn't know what I wanted. He also told his told his next customer that I was the reason he was fed up with barbering. Once he was finished with me, he told me to next time to not enter his shop if he wasn't there. Amazing! Despite it all, the haircut was good! He just has very bad customer service and must be burnt out. I will never go back. read more

A great haircut for a reasonable price... and in a very cool old house in Clarksville. I've had my hair cut by Nick for a couple years now; he seems very passionate about barbering, including doing old tyme barbering shaves (I haven't got one yet with Nick, but his enthusiasm ensure I will go to him when I do). His new stomping ground is in a very cool turn of the century house in Clarksville, right off West 6th with a old fashioned chair, and lots of sunshine. He has a selection of whiskey if your looking for a little lunchtime nip, and he's in the process of constantly getting more set up each month - so far he has the hot foam for straight razor shaves and the air compressor to blow the cut hair off; I think he may have hot towels on request too, and guessing his next toy will be a old fashioned shoulder massager to complete the spectrum... who knows, I wouldn't be surprised if he somehow gets approval for cigars to go with the days copy of the Wall Street Journal like the haircuts of the days of yore. Overall, Nick is a good barber, readily offering entertaining conversation and a solid hair cut, complete with a neck straight razor shave. I started going to Nick for haircuts and beard trims nine months ago and I've been consistently happy after every visit. The location on West 6th is great too as it's very near my workplace downtown. The conversation and environment are great as well. Nick was also the first to suggest that I grow out my full beard and I certainly have not regretted doing that.
