We ordered a double-shot gelato and two crêpes in waffle cones--everything was good and made for an overall great experience. My only point of improvement: having an owner/employee sitting at a table on a loud phone call isn't the best look for the business. If it's a break, stepping away from the dining area would be better. That's the main reason I gave it three stars--otherwise, this would easily be a 4.5 to 5-star spot. Super duper "cute" is the best way to describe this little gem in Downey. The young lady making the crepes was super sweet and changed it up a bit. I ordered the strawberry/banana/ Nutella crepe with cream cheese (thinking it would be a cream cheese spread or filling) but she changed it by placing chunks of the cream cheese instead and it was delicious!! Located in a tiny strip mall off the main street, this ice cream shop undoubtedly has the cutest interior decorations of any dessert or drink shop you'll ever encounter. They definitely wanted this place to be camera ready! There is counter seating inside and a some shaded tables in front of the shop. I think they serve a couple of things like crepes, fruit bowls, and even panini sandwiches but the highlight is definitely the ice cream. If I recall, they had maybe 10 flavors. Even though their name is "gelato" I'm pretty sure this is ice cream (based on all the ice cream and gelato I've had in my life!). I chose two flavors which I asked to have served in separate cups. They were each presented with a large chocolate heart stuck into them. The first flavor was called Amore Mio and was strawberry ice cream with chocolate chunks within it. Chocolate and strawberry go together wonderfully, an excellent flavor combination. What impressed me most was how vivid the strawberry flavor was and how creamy the texture was. The second flavor was mocha cappuccino. This coffee flavored ice cream had chocolate chunks throughout. Again, chocolate and coffee are a perfect combo. And again, I was extremely happy with the coffee flavor which was very bold and ever-so-slightly bitter, as coffee can be, which was offset with the sweet pieces of chocolate. When we finally received our correct order 30 minutes later, the strawberries were sour and there was no chocolate. When we politely asked her to add chocolate, she immediately responded with attitude. After repeated back-and-forth, my friend asked for a refund. The employee said, "Well, you're asking for Dubai and I'm giving you Dubai, idk what you want." My friend then said it was fine and that she didn't need a refund, but asked that she keep the strawberries. The employee then shoved the money at us and slammed the strawberry cup into the trash. I loved the decorations inside and the staff were all extremely friendly. They specialize in gelato but also serve a variety of of coffees, crepes, and açaí bowls. They were very kind and told me a bit about their journey as new Latino business owners. More importantly, all the desserts were yummy! Food: the gelato was tasty and had a great consistency!
